I see you yet, my mother, walking briskly across the hayfield in the moonlight-with all the neighborhood children following like baby chicks. We were taken on these moonlight walks to teach us bravery and to help us see the hills and prairies in mysterious light.
She told us the bear always got the third one in line so we struggled to never be in third place. It kept us moving ahead, kept us laughing and ready to slide down a haystack or to wade a shallow branch with moss growing on wet rocks. Time has passed and so have you-except in spirit on a moonlit prairie.
I follow always, listening now and then with my ear against a tree.

Peggy,
Thank you for the update on Lola Mae. Hope Judy can get to an ortho today. Glad pain meds are working and hope they had a peaceful night.
Blessing Judy and Lola Mae.

Dear Kathy .Happy Holiday! It’s our late spring bank holiday over here so no need to turtle-turtle today.Marty is remembering his many times grandpa who fought in the cheese skirmish!I hadn’t heard poor Blue got bitten by a neighbourhood dog but he is doing well.Brave boy.I can’t help but think of poor Lola Mae and Judy and hoping they can get help.We have a vet over in the UK called Noel Fitzpatrick aka the bionic vet.He is a brilliant surgeon and has helped so many pets with congenital defects! He works miracles.
I had “leaky eyes” seeing Joey in his beloved garden.I heard about the oil spill and we had a feature on the news about your drought seems only the”celebs”have green lawns. Then there were the flash floods in Texas!Oh I love our climate in the UK such a variety we have no idea what our summer may throw at us could be hot could be wet who knows??Glesni and Monty are preparing for the chicks arrival, she was feeding an imaginary chick yesterday and Monty was “talking”to the eggs.Glesni is having lunch at the moment.Zoe had a wonderful post about a lady who had to leave her dog when she went into care yet more tears!Growing old and helpless is not easy especially in the modern world.Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly.Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

You never know about the wearther is right on. Will never forget going to the British Open (in JULY!) and having to purchase a long-sleeved wool sweater just to survive. Nothing actually worked against the rain and wind!
Max
I had four years of it. That combined with no central heating in January was an experience. Hope that Chromie is getting some sunny, warm days. That can happen, sometimes.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Happy Holiday to you, too! I don’t think I remember the “cheese Skirmish.” Maybe I was out sick in school when they went over that! Yes, poor Blue. Just imagine how bad it would have been if the neighbor dog had gotten ahold of Boo or Buddy! My heart goes out to Judy and her beloved Lola Mae. I hope there’s a good outcome! Whenever I see Joey’s beautiful face I feel I will cry. I sure wish they would bring in a nice new garden cat. The drought here is terrible. We need rain so badly and our chances for rain are dwindling quickly. We never do get much rain in the summer. I hear of flooding in other parts of the country and always think how great it would be if we could get some of the water over here! Monty and Glesni are so cute right now, aren’t they! I read that story on Zoe’s page about the lady having to leave her dog. What a heartbreaking case! On one of Zoe’s therapy visit sites today the people were all gathered in their assembly room for some musical entertainment. The musicians were late, Zoe and her Mommy came along so Diane told Zoe she was going to be the first act. Can’t wait to read about that! I’ll bet little Zoe did her salutes. Such a precious little dog! Have a wonderful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Dear Max.I have had a whole lifetime of UK weather to endure and I am still alive!!!I wouldn’t change it for the world.Such variety.CC looks really well now he seems to be thriving over here.Golden Horn and a few others are at Epsom tomorrow for” Breakfast with the Stars”I think Frankie is riding him. There is a lot of talk about Dermot Weld’s horse Zawraq (sp)I was surprised at the Gatsby’s run yesterday maybe an off day but this was the horse who beat Australia.Could do better at RA.Sheena.
Max
It’s mostly rain and more rain over there. You have yet to experience freezing rain, 12 feet of snow and -30 for months. Then suddenly without warning it can shoot up to 90. Had a discussion with LL Bean rep on Friday and she told me that she’s still using a winter coat for walking her dog. That’s Maine.
Who is this horse who is the favorite for the POW? He’s also a Dermot Weld trainee by the name of Free Eagle, I think.
Grey looked like he did not like the turf at the Curraugh. Noticed that Al does not seem to care who rides him. He is a very good horse. We have to thank The Queen E for seeing that Al still had the desire to race. She could have just retired him to a life of ease at Sandringham. Bravo to her for knowing the horse so well.

Okay, I was just on the NYRA Facebook page looking for info on Coz’s workouts and lo and behold I saw a beautiful picture that I swear I thought was a photo I’d never seen before from 1973 of Jim Gaffney breezing Secretariat at Belmont until I realized just WHO I was looking at! It was ZICONIC!!!! Three words: Oh. My. God.
Z13Rulz
Someone shared a group of 4 – 6 pictures of Ziconic over on the Forum side, under the heading “Ziconic”.
Two of his galloping, both look extremely impressive.

Did you see the two of him “dancing”?

Little children should be allowed to imagine, to let their minds run ahead to things that can be and things that never were. The imagination lets us see beyond the actual outline of things as they are. A mind freed of bias can detect times and times ahead.
Go back and recapture the imagination you never allowed to develop. Give it the freedom to examine your motives, your feelings, your heart. It will reveal joys and purposes and realign things gone wrong. There is no drab space in the imagination, no tears, and no losses-for that is the purpose of imagination, to remove and heal and let go.

Dear Kathy.Maybe, being an only child,I had a vivid imagination Still have!Oh,those kittens today!I have always been a crazy cat lady. There is a bilue-ringed stranger at the Dyfi wouldn’t it be wonderful if it was one of Monty’s offspring! We had 3 chicks at Lowes and Manton Bay now 33(11) is a 1st time dad and seems surprised by all these little ones in the nest.Poor Lola Mae’s tummy is getting upset by the pain meds but her left leg has improved.Hope to get more news today.
Miss Kitty hasn’t had much luck with her on-line store and is closing it down. She had hoped to raise money towards their food.Mango had a great day at the service yesterday and is in the semi-finals!!Abby and Shortie actually spent the night together after the prom!!Zoe had a surprise lunch with auntie BJ and got chicken chips. It’s pretty humid with Miss Dolly 90F.Gizmo’s vet Carolyn delivered a mini-horse yesterday morning named Martin! Very sweet. The ratties are very scientific these days.Marty’s abventures return June 1st!!!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO.

Dear Sheena,
My half sister is 12 years older than me soI’m basically an only child, too. I also have a vivid imagination! Oh yes, I hop the blue-ringed stranger is one of Monty’s! Lots of prayers going up for Lola Mae and Judy. Fingers crossed for more good news! That’s too bad Miss Kitty didn’t sell enough to keep the online store going. Congratulations to Mango! I’ve voted. I hope Shortie has at least presented Abby with a ring! Zoe is quite the socialite! She “lunches” quite a bit, it seems! I’m sure those chicken chips are delicious. Dolly lives in a very hot part of the world. Hopefully their AC is working well. As long as the power isn’t off too long, right? Awwww…a mini-horse baby! They are precious! The ratties are studying ALL the sciences, including Fiction Science and Scientology! lol Can’t wait for Marty’s abventures! Have a great Tuesday. You can see all these pics of him on his facebook page. It is a fan page driven page, not official, but still has all the pictures.

I am more than interested! I am thrilled Ziconic inherited the “ham”, “dance”, and “entertain” genes from his Mom! Can you imagine Our Chestnut Prince doing those dance moves in a post parade? The crowd will go absolutely nuts!

Where are the photos? I opened one link on the blog and saw one photo. It appears he is standing but lifting his front foot. Where are the others?

Oh, I have missed so much and will never get caught up. First, prayers for all the folks enduring the storms and flooding. Last night was scary. High winds, lightning that seemed to last forever and more torrential rain. Videos from Houston. I used to drive to Houston once a week for work and can’t imagine getting caught in all that flooding. We were lucky that the electric didn’t go out. We have the greatest Electrical Co-op. They just finished a week ago trimming every limb near any power line out our way. Just down the road a car lost control due to a new layer of loose gravel and heavy rains and crashed into the woods. No fatalities thank God. Dear Judy prayers for you and Lola. Photos of Ziconic too fabulous but so annoyed with Kurt Hoover on TVG. He and Matt were doing the social media segment and when Zic’s post came up he didn’t seem to know who his Mom was and what could she have taught him. Lots of grumbling not quite under my breath. Matt explained ZENYATTA DANCE to him. Coz and Zic are the most gorgeous boys EVER. Due to weather I missed a lot of races this weekend. Did watch a lot of WW2 movies though. The end of Band of Brothers always makes me cry as does the Memorial Day concert. God Bless our veterans and the wonderful men and women guarding our way of life around the world.

Stay safe. My heart goes out to all.

Dear Max.Have heard CDA isn’t coming over to Epsom to defend his Coronation cup crown this year.He may go for the POW or the Grand prix de Saint Cloud. If you remember he got injured at Epsom last year.Free Eagle is by High Chapparal out of a Danehill mare.He was 3rd to Noble Mission in the Champion Stakes. There is talk Found may run in the Derby.I doubt I could survive your brutal winters. It’s been about 5 years since we had any significant snow in the west of Wales.Very mild in my part of the world.Surprisingly we do get the occasional drought the most recent in 2012.After a few dry autumns and winters the words “hosepipe ban”were mentioned. You can guess what happened it poured and we had floods!Sheena.
Max
Thanks for the news of CDA. Check out his Facebook. He’s giving his exercise rider some loving. CDA seems to like the ladies. And his food. Like Moosie.
Heard that Simenon is going to Sandown in the Henry II stakes. This horse is incredible. Do you remember Royal Ascot in 2012? He ran twice within five days and won both races at 2 and a half miles and 2 and three quarters miles. When I hear endless whining about horses not being able to cope with the Triple Crown race schedule, I think of Simenon.
Ann NC
Incredible back to back runs/wins.
How many 2 mile races are there here in the States?
Max
I think that they have even done away with the Breeders’ Cup marathon. It’s hard to find a mile and a half race other than the Belmont.

Dear Max.Our Euro horses are certainly bred for their stamina.Yes,I remember him running twice.I have been on Treve’s FB she’s been exercising ready for her return on the 29th,She has wintered really well. Her Majesty will be out in all her finery tomorrow for the state opening of parliament. There is nothing the Queen doesn’t know about horses!!Did you see that horrible story about a rabbit killed on a live radio show in Denmark?Shades of Marius!!!Sheena.
Max
Simenon’s dam sire is a U.S. horse. Roberto was not a Euro but he won the Derby. Breeding is not the whole story. Training has a lot to do with it. If a horse does not have an opportunity to train and run over a long distance, the horse cannot show stamina.
ER II knows her horses well. I liked her comment when she learned that Al was not a success at breeding: “Horses have a way of surprising us.”
Al is the Prince of Wales.

Our hurts heal themselves in little ways-sounds, scents, a word at the right time. These things are like music that can reach deep inside where material things cannot go.
We too often let the cares of the world steal our peace and we lie down in frustration instead of taking charge. But healing waits. It waits for the right moment when our defenses are down and it fills our minds with hope. Start out in faith and the help will come. The beginning is by choice-and the only thing we give up is the idea that nothing can work for us.
You didn’t understand our prayers. You didn’t try to understand.

Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional.I have been watching the state opening of parliament this morning,It was a beautiful morning for Her Majesty.Such a lot of new MP’s and leaders this time!It was her Majesty’s 62nd opening only missed when she was pregnant with Andrew and Edward.I love the tradition and the household Cavalry!!!Just learned Destiny crossed the bridge at 10.10pm on the 26th she had been at the emergency vet with pneumonia and has gone home now to rest.God bless her.Nissy’s brother Andy is a gorgeous boy and to think he was a stray! They have 2 other marmies. There was a fascinating piece on “Springwatch” last night about Glesni and Blue’s grandfather Mr Rutland he is 18yrs old now and 2 of his grandsons tried to take over the nest.Mr R disappeared and Mrs R refused to mate with the younger boys.Mr R returned eventually but they have deserted the nest now.Mrs R wouldn’t have been healthy enough to bring up chicks.Mr R was also the father of Monty’s 1st wife Nora
Fubu is still doing quite well and weight is stable his mum has been getting lots of tests.
Lots of storms in Texas and Mexico.Zoe is worried about her friends.Theba has a beautiful cat of her own.I would love to see a new studio cat though There are so many begging for homes!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO

Dear Sheena,
I’m sure the state opening of parliament has been very moving. So much stability in such a long reign, too. It will be a shock to the world when the day comes that Elizabeth II’s reign comes to an end. Seems as if she’s in for life, doesn’t it? I think I would be wanting to retire if it were me. Yes, so very sad about Destiny. She was certainly a beautiful dog. My heart aches for her people. It’s never easy. I’ll look for Andy. I love the marmies! Wow, the ospreys have a fascinating ancestry. Fubu continues to amaze. God bless him and Kimberly too. The flooding in Texas and Mexico has been horrible. So much loss of life. Just terrible. Zoe was so cute. Today’s Zoeism is a question. I life gives you limes do you rearrange the letters to spell “smile” or do you make margaritas? I answered that you do both! lol Yes, I’ve seen Theba’s beautiful cat. And yes, they definitely need a new studio cat. Have a wonderful Hump Day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
