Happy Thursday!
As promised, we have some photos of Cozmic One in training at Mayberry Farm. We were in Florida on a chilly March day to witness Coz gallop around the track. He spent the morning grazing and romping around his paddock. Post-workout, he was back in his stall for a video chat with Ann. A photo of Cozmic One as a foal, standing in a Lane’s End paddock with Zenyatta, hangs in his stall.
We didn’t leave without sitting down with the staff of Mayberry Farm. They generously answered questions for our Ask The Experts feature. We’ll share their answers on the blog over the next few weeks.
Enjoy!

Trying to catch up yet again. Thanks so much to Team Z and the Mayberry Farms folks for this great post. Coz looks wonderful and SO grown up. Hope his training continues down a road that will lead him to the best he can be. Have no doubt that he is with the right folks now and will continue to bloom with John.
Happy Birthday to Rosemary and VA from CA. Was great to meet Rosemary at the BC. Thanks, as always, To Trina for the poetic works of art.
Prayers to Carol and Roxy. Many of us know how difficult this is so please know that we’re with you and hoping for the best.
Congrats to Stanwyck for an “in the money” finish in the Apple Blossom. Would love to have seen John and the Mosses in the winner’s circle, but maybe next time.

Dear Max.You are an early bird! Noble Mission just ran a very good 2nd at Newbury. My Tent or Yours has a hood on today,I’m not a great fan of them.Good to hear spring is finally arriving with you. They repaired the railway line to the SW of England very quickly after the floods.Things have improved a lot but of course the homes that were flooded have a long way to go.Joyeuse was 3rd.Free the Moose! Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I get up at the same time each day work or not. Better for the circadian rhythm. Glad to get this news of Noble Mission and Joyeuse. Noticed yesterday that they are both still in training with Lady Cecil. Hope that she does well because there are not many women who are at that training level in the UK or anywhere.
Not certain why Morpheus was scratched at Keeneland. Hope that he is okay.
Any news of Kind?

Wow! I admire your resolve re keeping the circadian rhythm in balance. We’ve all read the suggestion, of course, but you are probably the only person I know who manages to do it. Bravo!

Sandy. Thanks. But I go for the afternoon nap on weekends.

April 12 Cherokee Devotional
Something small so often comes to rescue us at a crucial point of making a mistake. How very much we wanted to react violently-to respond in the same manner in which we were approached. But somewhere deep inside, a gentler voice asked, “What is that to you?” Why be the other half of disagreement? Even an animal is smart enough not to run into a place where it can get tangled in a trap. Most arguments are traps of one kind or another. But relax right out of it. Let go, and realize that what is happening should be avoided like poison. The atiyosdi, the argument or disagreement, is on the other side-leave it there. The best revenge is to refuse to fight-and it brings to mind what someone said, “If you argue with a fool, you will end up being one.”
I will fight no more forever.

Dear Max.Khalid Abdulla has another great horse in Kingman ,tremendous win at Newbury.Sad news from Ayr Cotton Mill collapsed and died after the Scottish Champion Hurdle, a ruptured aorta.RIP.
Cockney Sparrow was the surprise winner of that race Girl Power!!I can’t find any news of Kind or a foal this year.I always enjoyed a sleep-in over the weekends!Free the Moose.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Hoofray for Kingman. Glad to hear it.
What a win for Cockney Sparrow. She had a fall in one of her races this spring if I recall correctly. Nice comeback. I read recently that when she retires she is going to visit Shirocco, Annie Power’s father.
As I now recall, Kind foaled last year at the same time as Z, and produced a charming chestnut baby. She then went back to Ireland to visit Galileo. She might be due at the same time as Z.
I may get up at the same time, but there is always nap time in the afternoon. Ronald Reagan used to enjoy a good nap. Nothing better. Moosie probably likes his naps. Free the Moose! Neigh!

Sheena. Just looked up Cotton Mill. Only 7. Has nice pedigree with Danehill and other great horses. Very sad news. RIP.

Dear Kathy.Still no news of Glesni on the Dyfi am so sad she has given up the fight the”other woman” is on the nest, have heard Lady in Scotland is about to lay her 69th egg!she must be about 28 yrs old by now.Yay Marty has 5,000 friends!!he was enjoying his yummy banana smoothie.Fubu looked to be having a good time at Petsmart with the birdies I just can’t believe how well-behaved he is!Zoe’s going to look pretty in her new dress great commercial for Petsmart.Did’nt Ray look so cute as a puppy with Daddy so cuddly!Joey had some special visitors yesterday he was very laid back about everything.Have a great Saturday.Hugs to You,Kisses for Holly, Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Where are you? Al Co wins the Scottish Grand National at 40-1. Wow! Shocker. Jamie Moore riding. First Sire de Grugy, and now Al. Moore is doing well.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
That’s very upsetting that Glesni didn’t fight back for her nest. Three cheers for Lady! That’s remarkable!!! Very exciting that Marty has 5,000 friends. And they acknowledged it right away, too. Good for them! Banana smoothie…is there any food Marty has not tried? I think Fubu must surely be the most-loved kitty on the planet. He and his mom have such a strong bond. Makes me teary-eyed. Ray was an adorable puppy and he turned into such a handsome adult. Another very-loved boy. Heartwarming. Love Joey’s essence. He is definitely the boss at that station. Have a wonderful Saturday. I’m working today. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Sugar and Nikko. Kathy

Dear Max.Battle group did a moosie again at Ayr,they even gave him a 2nd chance but he dug his hooves in.He’ll be up before the beak now.Was a great win for Jamie and Al Co.been a wonderful season for him.Tidal Bay just faded towards the end all horse looked tired.Free the Moose!Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Moose etiquette is spreading. Battle Group started off this time but then gave up. Does sound like the beak will now be out to ban him.
Many congrats to Al Co. That was wonderful riding by Moore. AC nearly threw him at the end. Guess that AC was a little tired and got distracted. There was pretty good jumping all around. I don’t think anyone fell, although one jockey was tossed. AC is a grand ole chestnut. Like his braided mane look.
News is that Richard Hughes suffered a broken back when Mars fell into the rail in Dubai. He’s still planning on a return at the end of the month. Doctor says 3 months.

Dear Max.Battle Group is flying the flag for Mooseters everywhere!!I went on his twitter and he said the other horses wouldn’t wait for him!I expect he will join Moose on the sidelines nowI just don’t know how Jamie held on it’s been compared to the 1956 Grand National and Devon Loch.Peter Bowen was the trainer of Al Co one for the welsh!Free the Moose.Sheena.

he gave me two of my biggest wins of my career, happy retirement to him!

Sheena. In addition to the news from BGG, Moosie says as well on his twitter that Battle Group has retired. He also said that he and BG are there to show the beak that horses can choose to race, or not. Well said, Moosie!
It was a bit of a wild ride with the Chess Club member Al. Proves Moore is a very good jockey. Tough too.
Kauto tweeted that Tidal Bay is his hero. Love Tidal Bay. He was coming on at the end.

Not much of a brag, but I am proud of my boy! I have been training my 8-1/2 year old vizsla, Loki (Champion Serenity’s Loki of Kiralyi) in rally obedience for almost a year. Well, today I entered him in his first show, in Sacramento. He won his first of 3 “legs” toward his Rally Novice title with a score of 90 out of 100!!! Another show tomorrow! Now to go and watch the Bluegrass!!!
