Happy Thursday!
As promised, we have some photos of Cozmic One in training at Mayberry Farm. We were in Florida on a chilly March day to witness Coz gallop around the track. He spent the morning grazing and romping around his paddock. Post-workout, he was back in his stall for a video chat with Ann. A photo of Cozmic One as a foal, standing in a Lane’s End paddock with Zenyatta, hangs in his stall.
We didn’t leave without sitting down with the staff of Mayberry Farm. They generously answered questions for our Ask The Experts feature. We’ll share their answers on the blog over the next few weeks.
Enjoy!

Dear Kathy. It’s hard to believe now that the osprey was extinct in Wales for over 400yrs,they are so beautiful. It seems the squatter(blue 24) is winning the battle at the moment,I feel so sorry for Glesni flying 3,000 miles to lose your home.If you look towards the left-side there’s a link to the live-streaming you’ll see the Dyfi in all it’s glory.Fubu had a good day at Petsmart yesterday after his visit to the Doc,at least he hasn’t lot any more weight he’s a very brave cat!Marty’s been eating a lot lately,is getting quite a fat rat!love Zoe’s post about her therapy visits, did you see the before and after of Nemo I think. How can Peeps neglect animals??Is a lovely spring day here in Wales.Hugs to You,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Poor Glesni. That’s awful. It’ll take an awful lot of work to build a new nest. I’m really enjoying watching them. Thank you so much! I’m glad Fubu is doing so much better for now. He’s such a beautiful cat. We wish we could have them with us forever, don’t we? Marty eats better than some people, I think. He’s one lucky rat! Zoe’s page is just heartwarming. LOVE that little girl. So glad we have her. That before and after doesn’t look like the same dog. Enjoy your day and the weekend ahead. Maybe Z14 will come this weekend! Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Sugar and Nikko. Kathy

I loved seeing Coz.He is so intelligent and sensitive and solid- like his mom..
Coz is the kind of horse who will give his all with a good partner and will pick up on gentle cues..Body language speaks volumes,he has a soft mouth-and a willing heart.
Zenyatta, have enjoyed seeing you and Coz and Z-13 so much !You have produced such beautiful offspring. We wish you a good delivery and a healthy foal, God bless!
.
Trisha Veazey
Oh my he is such a beautiful boy. Looks like his mom. Please handle with velvet gloves he is the PRINCE after all and hopes for a great racing career.
Love to all care givers and connections.
Love hugs and kisses
Did you get your birthday present from me?
Pam
Thank you for the latest pictures, video and news of Coz. He is so elegant. Bet Mommy Z is so proud of her first born!
I still remember the day he was born. What a happy day that was!
Thank you allowing us to be a part of his life.
Abigail_1849
Good morning everyone!
I’m another who was thrilled to open up a new post on Coz and I especially loved the video. Zenny, your boy reminds me of you in so many ways, but like Brenda S. granddaughter, Vic, I do see Bernie in there too. Either way, you’re one handsome colt. Aidan O’Brien and others in the UK must be eating their hearts out, not only because of the bloodlines, but also because O’Brien and many horse experts are most keen about bays. I would love to know why & wonder if it’s just a historical concept, in the same way that greys were frowned upon right into the mid-twentieth century……
It’s so good to read everyone’s messages and see all the familiar names and their news.
Sheena: I just loved the osprey site! Thank you. And I wanted you to know that my beloved Granny Chadsey not only descended from Welsh roots but carried many of the old Welsh traditions, even though she and her parents were born in North America. Of course, I only really “discovered” her Welsh sensibility after she was gone. when I visited Wales, I felt so at home. You know how most people have a “country of the soul”? Well mine is Wales.
Zenny — I’m pacing away at this point as we await your War Front foal. But I’d also like to hear more about The Redhead, whom I expect will soon be getting a proper name. TEAM Z: We don’t want Z13 to suffer a middle child complex!!!!
To Team Z and LE: Thank you so very much for this fabulous update on Coz. It’s enormously generous of you and truly appreciated.
Love & hugs to all
Ann NC
Thanks, Team Z and Mayberry Farm. What a nice treat!
Good boy, Coz. Keep up the good work. Luv ya.
Z13, maybe the Easter Bunny will bring you a name!
Zenny, hoping you are enjoying the nice spring air!
Happy Birthday Wishes to Rosemary and Va/Ca!

Dear Abigail.Great to hear about your welsh ancestors and to know you’ve even visited our little country!I understand about the sense of belonging,we call it “hiraeth” over here.Hugs Sheena.

Abigail, did not know you were Welsh too. I am only 1/4, my mom 1/2 and her Daddie, a full blooded Welshman and proud.

Cozzy, the first born from our Royal Queen. Stay safe and healthy all your many years…I know you will always be a handsome Prince. I love you, are you hoping for another bro or would you like to have a baby sister?
Please pass this to Mayberry..Thank you.
Love you, Lisag

Coz seems to have exceptional bone. Do others agree? I noticed that even as a foal he had really strong looking leg bone.

Delrene
Thank you very much for this photographs of Zenny’s first born and the video. Just re watched it and will I’m sure again and again. The farm seems such a tranquil setting for the horses and would love to visit someday.
We appreciate you keeping her fans in touch with all things Zenyatta.
As for Zenyatta, we all pray for a safe and easy delivery and a healthy foal. Thinking of you today as the time is approaching for a new wee one.
As many have said, he does seem to favor his Mom, but I do see Bernardini in that handsome boy. The best of both for certain.

Hi Delrene
I agree, I see some Bernie, too :-)

hi zsters :)
You’re Going to Be Okay
If your life isn’t perfect, this is for you.
If you’ve ever been disappointed, this is for you.
If you sometimes have bad hair days, this is for you.
If you dreamed a big dream and then watched it fall apart, this is for you.
If you are human and live in a fallen world, this is for you.
She tucks her head in her hands for just a moment then looks up with a sigh. “It’s been a tough day,” she whispers with a half smile. I nod in agreement, touch her hand with mine. “I just need to know…” she continues, “I just need to know I’m going to be okay.”
Don’t we all?
So what do we do then? Is it even possible to live with joy, resilience, and strength in this broken world? After connecting with thousands of women about this topic, searching Scripture, and through my own journey I can say without reservation: YES.
And it’s not just possible, it’s what God desires for you.
Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Take heart.
Is it easy? Nope. Nothing worthwhile ever is. But it’s worth it.
You are stronger than you know.
You are loved more than you realize.
You are part of a greater plan and nothing can stop God’s purposes for you.
You’re going to be okay.
I promise.
And what’s even more important…God promises too.
Take heart, friend. Good things are ahead.

A Birthday Poem for Lou Naylor, aka Llnay on the Forum
(April 11, 2014)
Revised
While at Breeders’ Cup 2011,
Our dear Lou felt she was in heaven
For there in old Kentuck’
She had the great good luck
The guest of Zenyatta to be–
Lou was able to see
The “hostess
With the mostest”
Via live closed-circuit TV.
That day,
The life-sized portrait of the Queen
Was also on display,
And Team Z was seen
Meeting and mingling,
Setting Z-sters’ hearts tingling–
Z’s first Breeders’ Cup party
Was indeed an exquisite do
At an enchanted spot.
Nor should it be forgot
That the menu there was hearty,
And, as a Texan true blue,
Our Lou
Especially loved the barbeque.
Back home she has a ton of fun
With her grandkids, who number three–
They keep our dear Lou young.

Dear Max.Am sure you are looking forward to WD tonight, wishing him all the best.Good news about Hovis’ new book and merchandise is he entering the world of internashunal bizness like our Marty? Lady Cecil’s new website is up,there was an article about her in the racing post yesterday, she wishes she had a”hotline to heaven”so she could ask Henry for advice.Joyeuse is running tomorrow hope she will do well.Juddmonte and the Niarchos family have sent her some nice young horses.Tidal Bay in Scottish National tomorrow.Free the Moose!Sheena.

Sheena. Delighted by Hovis’ plans for world business domination.
Will read Lady Cecil’s website. I hope that she does well.
Heard an interview with Dave Arthur. He said that Moosie trains like a horse who wants to race. It’s just when he gets to the track that he digs in the heels. They’re thinking that he might be better on the flat because they have done a lot of work with him in the starting gates. Moosie’s a mystery.

JudyB. It’s sad, about a horse, but cannot talk about it right now. Want only good karma for Z as we wait.
Max
JudyB. I thought that your tribute to Russ this week was very nice. He was a great man. I hope that Charlie is giving you some comfort. Lola Mae too.
judy berube from Rhode Island
My Dear Max:
Yes, Charlie and Lola Mae are a great comfort to me. Thank you for your kindness and friendship. I am so sorry that you have had a sad experience this week involving a horse. It is just so heartbreaking to lose these beautiful four legged friends we love so dearly. I will keep you in my prayers. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.I’d feel a lot happier if Moosie sticks to the flat jumping is a dangerous game.He did very well last year until the weather turned warm at York.We will have to pray for cool summers not much of a problem for the UK.Poor Nissy’s basement is still flooded and it has been raining again. The peeps can’t take a shower!but Nissy’s office is lovely and warm now! Free the Moose Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Agree. Jumping raises the risk level of injury. Not all horses are expert jumpers like the great Rummy. I think that he had such superb technique that he never fell.
If Nissy ruled the world, it would be a better place. He must keep those peeps in line. All kidding aside flooding is rampant. No fun to have it take over your property. Has the UK recovered somewhat from those horrid floods?
Another question. What is the beak doing about the Grand National jockeys?

Dear Max:
Thanks for this info. Kaigun made a nice run at the end to be second. He does have a nice pedigree (Kris S). Love these Chestnuts.

JudyB. You zeroed in on my favorite part too. Kris S, Z’s grandfather, is the son of Roberto, as you know. Love Roberto. Z looks exactly like him.

Congrats to Wise Dan from me too! I thought he would win, but I hoped that “my” Za Approval would do better. He was just behind Dan at the BC. Guess he hasn’t shook off the cobwebs yet this year.

Can barely contain my excitement…. I am going to be live at a Derby this year – the Irish Derby at the Curragh!!!!!!!!!!! I have been to the Curragh before in 2008 (saw Finsceal Beo herself) And I have been to the Breeders Cup at Churchill…. the Irish Derby is at the top of the bucket list…
salivate at the possibility that Australia will be there and possibly the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf winner Outstrip… I know there are lots of others and I am educating myself on who’s who among their three year olds. I am going to do lots of pictures and I am going to do my own “blog” to recount the experience!
Go Australia! Son of Ouija Board and Galileo!

Dear TH:
Very exciting. Would like to read your Blog when you get started. Love and Hugs, JB

It will be completed after the Derby and the Irish experience. I cannot wait. There are so many young talents that I hope will be there.
There’s Toormore who was one of the high weights for Ireland. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e_9iWccgMg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZbY-BcVjrw
He has defeated Giovani Boldini and Outstrip to name a few.
He is a son of Arakan – Danetime Out, by Danetime.
Danetime Out’s dam Matila is by Persian Bold (son of Bold Lad, Bold Ruler). Arakan, a son of Nureyev – Far Across, by Common Grounds. Common Grounds is by the GB sire Kris (by Sharpen Up) and Common Grounds broodmare sire is Lyphard. Toormore also defeated IRE-G1 winner Sudirman (Henrythenavigator x Shermeen, by Desert Style – interesting enough Shermeen’s broodmare sire is Common Grounds too)
No Nay Never, Outstrip (Exceed and Excel x Asi Siempre- had this guy stayed for the Derby he’d be my pick hands down), Kingston Hill (GB Group 1 winning son of Mastercraftsman)
Australia – the son of Galileo x Ouija Board
War Command, Indian Maharaja (Galileo – Again, by Danehill Dancer – I watched Again win the 2008 G1 Moyglare Stakes in Ireland – she went on to win the 2009 Irish 1000 Guineas (Group 1), Wilshire Boulevard, Craftsman, Mekong River, Oklahoma City, MIchaelmas, Altruistic, Sir John Hawkins (son of Peeping Fawn!!), Friendship, etc… I found this
