Happy Thursday!

As promised, we have some photos of Cozmic One in training at Mayberry Farm. We were in Florida on a chilly March day to witness Coz gallop around the track. He spent the morning grazing and romping around his paddock. Post-workout, he was back in his stall for a video chat with Ann. A photo of Cozmic One as a foal, standing in a Lane’s End paddock with Zenyatta, hangs in his stall.

We didn’t leave without sitting down with the staff of Mayberry Farm. They generously answered questions for our Ask The Experts feature. We’ll share their answers on the blog over the next few weeks.

    Great surprise! Like many, was just checking to see if there was any word on the new foal.

    Lovely mover, nice and fluid. Maybe more growth coming but he sure seems well within his self right now. Mr and Mrs Moss, as is everyone else, must be really pleased.

    Fingers crossed for a safe and speedy birth.

    Oh my gosh, pics and videos of my lovely boy, CoZ, except for some reason I can’t get it to play, driving me nuts, but will keep trying. He looks sensational, and he seems so laid back, confident, That will take him a long way, won’t get frazzled and waste energy on stupid things. Can’t wait till he gets to John.

    Mama Z and bump, please hang on till the 12th at 12:00 AM……but if you can’t that’s alright too, we all want a safe delivery and healthy baby (filly). Pace, pace, pace. i’m keeping you in my prayers.

      I visited her when she was here in California on her birthday (St. Patrick’s Day) . She ♥ loved the peppermints I hand fed her :-)

    Dear Judy.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Captain Hercules and all the Sweeties.Poor Nerissa’s peeps are having trouble with the water in their basement again,no hot water to shower (why cant they learn to wash themselves like cats ,says Nissy) and it’s quite cold in the house they’ve gone out to buy some electric radiators.Mouses!Drama on our osprey nest earlier resident female Glesni returned to find the squatter on her nest and all hell broke loose,they haven’t been seen since!Love and hugs SheenaX

    Thank you for the wonderful birthday surprise. Wonderful pictures of Coz in action. He’s not as tall as his mom yet, but neither was she at his age. He is one good looking horse. Fantastic. I hope 14Z appears soon. I chose my own birth date and time for the contest, but we already passed the time. Not too late for the date, though. Come on 14Z! (I read that the foal chooses the date for its birth, the mare chooses the hour. Cute.)

    I am really, really impressed. You look great! Your jog looks like you are prancing. You look fantastic! I can tell you are learning a lot, and taking your schooling very seriously.

    Thank you team Z and Mayberry Farm!! What a beautiful day you had being with Coz. Thank you for taking such good care of him Mayberry! He is a young Z to my eyes. Goodness, Coz is so gorgeous my blood pressure just went UP! It is already up thinking of Zenyatta foaling. Whew, anxiety is taking over.

    A Birthday Poem for Rosemary McCauley
    (April 10, 2014, revised from 2013)

    From very young,
    Our Rosemary found riding fun–
    With horses she got her kicks.
    Already when she was just six,
    Such was her knack
    On a horse’s back
    That you from ringside
    Could see her trick ride
    At shows
    And rodeos!
    As onward years sped,
    She met a trainer of Thoroughbreds.
    One thing to another led,
    And soon they had wed.
    As a young bride,
    Rosemary ’fore dawn would rise
    Their horses to ride
    At the track
    For morning exercise.
    Afternoons she to the farm went back
    For a related enterprise—
    Namely the yearlings to break
    And then them train for graded stakes.
    The couple found it quite nice
    Between So Cal and Turf Paradise
    Their time to divide..
    Rosemary did Thoroughbreds ride
    So well
    And at horsemanship so excel
    That the renowned Charlie Whittingham,
    Himself honored in the Hall of Fame,
    Did of our Rosemary proclaim
    That her skill did rate
    No less than GREAT!
    But her resumé’s not yet complete:
    As an elite athlete
    She did also compete
    In hunter/jumper and dressage—
    What a neat feat!
    As for humor, we know
    That she—like our dear Terry Crow—
    Is fond of redneck jokes
    Many of which (well I do declare!)
    She’s cared to share
    With her own “redneck” folks.
    She also us did tell
    How she recently
    Rode Z!!!
    Well, it’s true–
    ’Twas on the carousel
    At the Los Angeles Zoo!
    Now she’s strictly a So Cal gal,
    And if you should chance to be
    In this locale
    And a cute, petite lady see
    Driving a truck
    With plates that “Znyataa” read,
