Zenyatta’s Portrait the Payoff in Forbes.com Story
“American Thoroughbred,” a fine art photography collection shot by Neil Latham that showcases Zenyatta’s portrait, has been earning accolades in top sports, horse racing, photography and news media. Not only is Zenyatta’s portrait often featured, but her iconic prowess and presence are brought up again and again.

In a recent Forbes.com story, she fulfills the photographer’s quest to capture the essence of the Thoroughbred, no small feat as more than 100 top-name racehorses had been unable to do so. “She was the most glorious creature I had ever seen,” says Latham. “All of my photos portrayed the power and dominance of the breed, but it wasn’t until Zenyatta that I was able to reveal the emotional, fragile side,” he explains.

“American Thoroughbred” also earned a full page story in The New York Times sports section with a mention on the front page, as well as stories in Blood-Horse, Vanity Fair, The Paulick Report, and more. See a few in the following links:

NYC Gallery Exhibition ending this week
Zenyatta’s portrait in “Neil Latham: American Thoroughbred,” can be seen through July 30 at Steven Kasher Gallery in New York City. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Address: 515 W. 26th St. in Chelsea. www.stevenkasher.com/artists/neil-latham.

Limited edition prints
Available in sizes ranging from 24 x 30 inches up to 50 x 60 inches for maximum impact. They are numbered, finished on archival paper with museum framing, and signed by the artist.

Coffee table book
Zenyatta is also a highlight of the limited edition fine art coffee table book “American Thoroughbred” by Neil Latham published by Twin Palms. It features 182 pages with 80 duotones, and is casebound and slipcased for quality presentation.     From my extremely limited experience, I have found that animals, particularly horses, are most difficult to capture in a perfect shot. If you get one great shot in a thousand,m you are doing well. And Neil Latham has managed to do more than that. Kudos to all involved in this project. Well done! I will plan to buy the book.

    Dear Kathy.Thoreau sounds my type of person.I loved playing in the woods as a child and would have happily lived there.So much life going around you.A better day in Goodwood and Wales.Tegid is behaving like a typical only child a mullet in each foot and screaming for more.A lovely photo of the family last night as someone said one little lady missing.I had to miss Hillary’s speech last night too late!Mother Theresa is still on her travels was in Brussels yesterday.She copes well with her diabetes.Larry must be running the show while she is away He is keeping a close eye on Palmerston!Sad about Love Angus at least it was quick but a shock for his parents.I hadn’t known Ripley has been ill again they found a lump on his tongue but it’s not cancer plus he has had an obstruction dreadful constipation.He is looking much better though.Felix is heading for 80,000 and everything is well at the station.Did you hear about that little girl who died as a result of a rock being thrown by an elephant.?Think it was in a zoo in Rabat.Everyone felt sorry for the elephant bored in a zoo.Certainly a freak accident.

      The woods are my favorite place to be. I’m glad your weather has improved. Tegid with a mullet in each foot and crying for more…too funny! Very poignant statement about Ceri. Hillary was on way too late for you. They always recap, so no worries. Wow, Mother Theresa is really making all the rounds. It’s good she has Larry to keep things running smoothly while she’s away. I was so sorry to read about Angus. That’s good Ripley is looking better. You hate for them to have to endure serious illnesses. Yay, Felix! I hadn’t heard about the little girl dying when the elephant threw a rock. Very tragic…so freakish! Hovis would have been a good addition to the Olympics. Not sure it was a good idea for mum to remove the shoe. Poor Carl, I hope he can recoup some of his losses! That pic of Wimbley was very cute. Also loved the String Theory pics. Glad Tom is back.     And to think some people say Zenyatta is “just a horse.” I have pity for them since they have never felt the magic of Zenyatta. She is grace, love, beauty and courage. An inspiration to all of us who in our small ways know her.

      Sad to lose him but he lived a wonderful life. Claiborne and the Phipps family loved and took excellent care of him. He left a great legacy in his sons and daughters. Would wish a life like his to all of the horses.

    Remember this name…”With Honors”. A striking 2yo filly out of War Front and a Street Cry mare “All Her Class”. First start today at Del Mar. Won by 2 lengths. She has a GO button. I was sad for a while afterward thinking about our Z Princess. Striking filly out of War Front and the Street Cry mare Zenyatta. I just know in my heart she would have been awesome. Z Princess, you will live in my heart forever.

    True to his word, Carlo was there when Little Mike got off the van at Old Friends this morning. Gave him mints, watched him roll a few times and made sure he was settled in. It warms my heart to know that there are the owners, trainers that really love these beautiful creatures that give their all. Great ending for a champion who gave his all. Enjoy you retirement Little Mike.

    Good news, fellow Z lovers,

    Lady Eli is on track to make her racing comeback in the Ballston Spa Stakes at Saratoga on Travers day. Trainer Chad Brown said that she is a strong horse & that everything is going well for her so far. I hope she wins the Ballston Spa after all she has gone through to come back.

    Two major Travers prep races this weekend-the Jim Dandy at Saratoga on Saturday & the Haskell at Monmouth on Sunday. These races, along with Beholder racing this weekend make it an exciting weekend for all of us racing fans.

    July 30 Cherokee Devotional

    To a Cherokee, a moon is a time, a season. How long is a season? The time it takes to do anything, to produce a result, to do a job, or to spend a peaceful hour. A season is time, pure and simple. We seldom spend time doing what we love. Instead, we do what we feel is necessary-and many times it isn’t necessary at all.     Most of us have a reserve of desires that will step in if we no longer do what we feel is necessary. What we are doing may be a vocation, but what we have reserved may be a peaceful thought. Were it not for my neighbors-the raccoons, possums, coyotes, and bobcats-I, too, would raise chickens. They are so peaceful.

    On this day in 1966 all the UK celebrated as England won the football World Cup.We live in a completely different world now where footballers and most sportsmen are paid astronomical wages.The footballers in 66’were paid £80 a week but who played better?They beat West Germany 4-2 with Sir Geoff Hurst scoring 3 of those goals.Unforgetable.

    Hoof it rolled back the years by winning the Stewards Sprint.Another 9yr old who won the Stewards Cup in 2011.Congratulations.Sheena

    Gladstone has taken to twitter and already has nearly 2000 followers and there is talk of the Cabinet office getting a cat too.Also Philip Hammond has a cat called Rex who may move in to Downing Street.Cats rule!!
