Zenyatta’s Portrait the Payoff in Forbes.com Story
“American Thoroughbred,” a fine art photography collection shot by Neil Latham that showcases Zenyatta’s portrait, has been earning accolades in top sports, horse racing, photography and news media. Not only is Zenyatta’s portrait often featured, but her iconic prowess and presence are brought up again and again.
In a recent Forbes.com story, she fulfills the photographer’s quest to capture the essence of the Thoroughbred, no small feat as more than 100 top-name racehorses had been unable to do so. “She was the most glorious creature I had ever seen,” says Latham. “All of my photos portrayed the power and dominance of the breed, but it wasn’t until Zenyatta that I was able to reveal the emotional, fragile side,” he explains.
“American Thoroughbred” also earned a full page story in The New York Times sports section with a mention on the front page, as well as stories in Blood-Horse, Vanity Fair, The Paulick Report, and more. See a few in the following links:

We were lucky enough to see Neil Latham’s exhibit last week. It is truly breathtaking to walk into the gallery and be faced with his enormous photographs of these gorgeous animals. Each and every print forced us to stop and marvel over the detail. His portrait of our beloved Zenny was, of course, especially transfixing. We came away with a sense of awe for these beautiful creatures’ strength and power, wisdom and kindness, and in Zenny’s case, sense of humor. Thank you, Mr Latham, for such a memorable experience.
Neil Latham
Dear Dee,
Thank you for the kind words, I am so grateful to have met Zenyatta. Imprinted and changed forever.
Neil.

Dear Mr Latham
I, too, was lucky enough to have met Zenyatta last November. You’ve said it perfectly: imprinted and changed forever… me, that is, not Zenny. After what felt like an almost spiritual communing (with the aid of peppermints) and a tearful good-bye, rather than placing her lovely head in my lap I looked back for one last time to see her scratching her bum on the fencepost. That’s Zenny and her wicked sense-of-humor! Obviously, she can tell the difference between a fellow artist and a mere love-struck fan…
Again, thank you for your gorgeous photographs.
Dee

Zenyatta is made of the same heavenly air that Secretariat was created from. Both of them were and are horses that God built.
Faithful Zenyatta Supporter
After all these years visiting this wonder site, reading how Zenny continues to affect others in her magical way still causes the tears to flow. As her Mom Ann has said, “she is a gift”. I get many compliments on the coffee table book.

Zenny’s eyes say so much about her depth and how she instinctively understands humans. I have never seen a more beautiful face or kinder eye. She keeps me in a state of happiness.

Mr. Latham witnessed first hand the magic of Zenyatta.
I am still trying to talk my husband into letting me get the coffee table book. I am giving him a real deal, I did not ask for one of the limited edition prints.

Exciting finish by Haveyougoneaway! Her dam sire is Wiseman’s Ferry so I guess she is a cousin of Wise Dan. Like her mama’s name: One Wise Cowgirl.

Dear Sheena,
Thank you for our Hovis update. Poor guy keeps being overlooked and under-appreciated. And now starving and in the rain. So unfair! Happy weekend to all and safe trips for all horses and jockeys running this weekend.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Thanks for the weekly Hovis, Sheena!
The big guy certainly does have difficulties with Mum, doesn’t he? Poor fellow, so terribly unappreciated for his magnificent talent and looks. :-)
I noticed an article at the bottom of his diary page about the large contingent of Fell Ponies which came from all over to Windsor. They came to honor The Queen in celebration of her 90th birthday. There is a beautiful photo of Her Majesty in a carriage pulled by 4 Fell ponies and apparently over 120 more following. The Fell ponies are quite gorgeous, and Queen Elizabeth enjoyed them very much.
Have a good weekend.
Hugs and Love

July 29 Cherokee Devotional
Henry David Thoreau was a man who loved simple things and the uncluttered life. He went for a time to live in the woods and made the best of life with meager things-and he loved it. Because he did not have to work away from his home, he had time to think-and he thought deeply. Few things escaped his scrutiny. Ralph Waldo Emerson liked Thoreau, but he wanted to teach him how to be Emerson, and it was not possible. Thoreau didn’t even want to think and write like Emerson, so he chose to say what he said with simplicity. He said, “If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. Men believe what they see. Let them see.” What could be simpler? And how easily forgotten. We believe, or tend to, that if people show wisdom, they must be trained to the teeth. No, it is more that they learn from their fellow human beings-and they keep the better part of what they’ve learned.
You all help me with supernatural power.
