Dear fans,
We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Zenyatta’s filly, affectionately nicknamed Z Princess. She was a member of our family and had just begun to make her mark on the world. This is a heartbreaking loss for those who knew and loved her.
The following is a statement from Lane’s End Farm:
It is with a heavy heart that I must report the death of the 2014 War Front / Zenyatta weanling filly. She was humanely euthanized last night at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital after a paddock accident on the farm.
As caretakers of these Thoroughbreds, we collectively mourn the loss of this beautiful filly.
On behalf of the Farish family and the entire staff at Lane’s End Farm, our condolences go out to Jerry and Ann, Team Zenyatta and all the great fans who support Zenyatta.
Respectfully,
Mike Cline
General Manager of Lane’s End Farm
At this time, we ask that all messages of love and condolence be sent to the Zenyatta office. Team Z would like to lessen the load on Lane’s End Farm and their dedicated staff.

I was shocked to read the news of Z Princess passing. My heart goes out to Ann and Jerry, Lane’s End, and Team Z. Tears will not stopping flowing, and I will miss her beauty and loving spirit. She was too young and had a lifetime of joy ahead. Why was she taken? It is difficult to understand, but my prayers will go out to Zenyatta, and all connections. I am searching for a way to remember Zenyatta’s special filly. So, I am thinking I will make a donation to one of the horse retirement farms in Z Princess’s memory.

Trudy, Z Princess had been weaned from Zenny a few weeks ago. Since the separation had already occurred and both were adjusting beautifully please don’t worry about our Zenny. She will be fine.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. You have my heartfelt sympathy for I know how much it hurts from my own personal experiences. She was so beautiful and looked so much like her mother. At the top of my bucket list is to be able to meet Zenyatta. I hope that one day she will have another filly although it will not be the same. Heartbreak hurts.

Ashton’s video is absolutely priceless. Thank you Ashton for carrying on your mother’s legacy of capturing the beauty of Zenny’s family in video for everyone to enjoy. We are still heartbroken for the Mosses who seemed to take special pride in this little Princess.

Poor little Darling!!!
So very sorry that the world will not see our little
Z princess grow up.
I feel so cheated. I’m sure everyone associated

Dear Z Fans:
Will not go into details at this time on this update on Dubai, except to say the news is very good as the x-rays showed no bone deterioration; just more abscesses. With soaks and wraps he should be on his way to a healthy life. Thank you for all of the prayers for Dubai. Everyone at the farm thanks you.
My heart, like all of yours, is aching with the loss of our Princess. All of us will love her forever. Our Princess; Street Cry; Sally’s Sir; Peggy’s Holly; Ann’s Comet and all horses or pets lost in the past or recently, I am thinking of them pain free and running free in Gods great heaven. Peggy and I were texting last night that all of us here are bonded in the joy of Zenyatta and now in the sorrow of losing our Princess. Love all of you, JB
Max
JudyB. Thank God for some mercy in good news at last for your horse. These are very dark days for horse lovers. Like others, I am in shock at her passing because Z Princess was a force of nature, so feisty and so lovely. That she is suddenly no more is hard to accept. Everything somehow reminds me of her, and I find it hard to think about anything else. It seems so unfair, but life as we know is not always fair. We just hope that it will be. I can only take a little comfort in the thought that Z Princess will be guarded in heaven by Tasty. Tasty never failed Zenyatta. She will do the same for the young one. Run free little girl. Run free. Tasty, you know how I feel about you. Never forgotten like Big D.

Dear Max:
You very loving post has me crying again. Unfortunately, in this life, to know the joy of loving people, horses and pets is to know the sorrow when we lose them. It’s been an awful year for loss, but as you say Our Princess is safe in heaven now with TT, both running free. Makes us realize, every day in this life is a gift.
Our Dubai is on his way and I think with time and care; he should be back in excellent health. Thank you for your concern and prayers for him and for being such a good friend. Love and Hugs, JB
Kathy
Dear Max,
Thank you for the visualization of Tasty guarding Z Princess, never failing Zenyatta, and doing the same for Z Princess. That is very comforting. Thank you again.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dea Max,
Your description of Tasty guarding little Z Princess is so sweet. You are absolutely right that TT never failed Zenyatta. As Kathy said above, it is very comforting.

Dear Judy; I am glad to know of the good news for Dubai although he has to deal with the wraps and meds. I will continue to pray for Dubai.
I loved your message as I know and have to believe that those horses or pets that we have loved and lost are now perfectly enjoying themselves. As someone said to me, “God must have needed z princess more”. Just breaks my heart she has missed knowing what life would have been here for her. In the end, z princess found absolute contentment and joy forever.
love to you and all Zsters

My Dear Friend Sally:

I am in shock. Sweet baby girl went straight to heaven and is with her grandpa, Street Cry. That is what I believe… and that she will be a guardian angel to her two darling brothers and beautiful mom. My heart is breaking for all her “peoples” who loved her so much.

Dear Max.I saw your post about Danehill,he was being hand led into his paddock and reared playfully. The best care in the world couldn’t save him but no one was blamed.Accidents happen it’s a sad fact of life.It was great to have good news about Dubai, was badly needed.PrrinZess you will always be remembered.Moose it’s time you were free.Life is short.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. As you know, many horses have died very tragically from paddock accidents. I chose Danehill because he like War Front is a son of Danzig. Danzig had a powerful personality and was a preeminent sire. No one ever messed about with that horse. His blood as a gift from War Front ran through our Princess Z. We will never know now what might have been for her as a race horse, but even with the brief time that she had on this earth, she made an impact on all of us. We will not forget her, our curly maned beautiful Princess.

I could not believe what I was reading! The lose of such a beautiful and promising young life is difficult to accept. I have owned my 30 year old Arab for 23 years, and I understand that special bond between human and horse. My heart felt sympathy and prayers to all concerned.
Wendy
It has hit so very hard, but one thought I’ve come back to is that in her short life she only ever knew warm, safe cozy barns, loving hands, a wonderful mother and human family (all of you included), and the beautiful fields there for her to romp and play in. We grieve for all the milestones we will not see her reach and that sad corner of space in our hearts will remain. But what a blessing that Z Princess’ life was such a sweet, bright spark with so little darkness.
JaneJ
Beautifully said, Wendy.

Just a thought during this very sad time, to allow The Mosses their privacy as they grieve. Such mixed emotions still wanting to celebrate her Mom at the same time, makes it difficult. Knowing the details of the injury would only encourage critical comments by some not meaning any harm. They are under no obligation to give anymore information.Read on The Forum Old Friends is taking donations in Princess Z’s name. Great idea. Prayers to them all.

Goodnight I love you Zenyatta; and all of your young

My heart. Is broken over the tragic loss of our Princess.. I haven’t been able to read the comments and am limited in electronic ability at the moment, but I at least wanted to add a note and “be there” with all of you. Sincerest condolences to the Mosses, Team Z, very one at Lane’s End, and to all of us. We will ever forget her.
Phyllis Shalor
There is nothing worse than losing a foal. The racing world weeps today. RIP, princess.
Chrissy Lee
The pain and loss we are feeling is unimaginable. Zenyatta is loved by us all and her “children” feel like our own. I even made myself honorary God Mother of Coz. Remember when the Moss’ s moved Our fair Queen to Kentucky…I know I’m not the only one who waited on baited breath for that plane to land. I tracked that flght more often then I track my relatives trips.
I think it is safe to say that we all feel as though one of our own has passed….
RIP Sweet Princess.
