Happy Thursday!
A team from The Blood-Horse was recently in Kentucky filming a feature about Zenyatta that will run as a Breeders’ Cup longform at Bloodhorse.com.
The piece will tell the story of Zenyatta’s career and connections, her charisma, and the fan following she maintains to this day. The Bloodhorse team went to Lane’s End to collect video footage to include in this special online feature and visited with Ziconic as well as 14Z. Meanwhile, their photographer in New York collected images of Cozmic One in training with John Shirreffs, which will also be included in the piece.
Here you can see a few photos of the team in action. Pictured above right is Multimedia Producer Scott Tracy and Online Features Editor Claire Novak in the paddock with Z Princess. Take a look at some of the behind-the-scenes footage below.
This piece is set to run on October 27, and we’ll remind everyone when it is released. We can’t wait to see it!
You can check out another recent longform feature they did on Arlington’s Richard Duchossois and the upcoming Arlington Million here.
Enjoy!

Pacific Classic will start soon. I wish all the horses good luck and safe race. I pray for Game On Dude as he faces another challenge in his 7 years. Good Luck Game On Dude. No matter what we are so proud of you!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena, Max and Z Fans:
Toast is at 7 to 1 odds right now; the third choice in the Classic. They’ve just been Called to Post. Ten minutes to go. Love and Hugs, JB

Good luck cappers!
65-1…Ice Cream Truck!

Love those, too, Max and JB.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Love that name. Love and Hugs, JB

Ann NC and JudyB. Ice Cream Truck has a pretty nice pedigree. His mom is Coconut Popsicle. Sounds good to me. And Mr Prospector and Affirmed are in there too. I’m going to watch this one.

Dear Judy.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties. Will have to see the result of the classic in the morning although it is morning here already!!Rail Link won the Arc in 2006.Love and hugs SheenaX

Sheena. Somehow I see the Epsom Derby as something truly special. It is the true test of turf champions.

Dear Sheena:
Wow, Bee Brave did her Daddy proud. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties
Max
JudyB. Considering that Rail Link never raced outside of France, Bee Brave is something of a world traveller. Ebby’s daddy has an outstanding race record himself on dirt, which I hope can be bettered by his son Coz.
Free the Moose!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
I share your hopes for COZ. I love Bernie, as you know. COZ has a double advantage for success, as his Mama is the Queen. Imperative, the horse that finished third in the Classic is another of Bernie’s sons. Toast ran a very good second to Shared Belief. He should be proud of himself. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Bernie is also the father of Stay Thirsty. He was always in Mo’s shadow because Mo got most if not all of Repole’s attention. Stay Thirsty however won the Jim Dandy, the Travers and the Cigar Mile. Love Thirsty.
As to Toast, I am not certain that the English racing critics will be as gracious as you. Some have said that Toast only won in Dubai against weak competition. He did not do well in the Belmont Derby and had passed on all of the major races in the UK. The Brits also tend to see turf as the only true racing surface. We’ll see.

Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Another of Bernie’s sons that I also love. You’re right, he was in Mo’s shadow, but he certainly came into his own. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy and Z Fans:
Your Boy did it. It’s Official in the Classic, Shared Belief, Toast, Imperative and Game On Dude. Dude gave it his all. Congrats to all of them. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. Mike was riding?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island

Dear Judy B.,
Congrats to Shared Belief and connections on winning the Pacific Classic.
Game on Dude ran hard, but alas, back-to-back wins were not in the cards. Get some rest, Dude, and race another day! Hugs

Dear Z Fans:

Congrats to Shared Belief. What a horse!
JB, yippee on your bet!
I had Toast for show, so I finally hit the boards as he placed.
Great racing!
Good night Z fans.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Thanks. Great cappin’ on Toast. Yes, Shared Belief is FOR REAL. Peggy will be thrilled. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Just soooooooooooo thrilled. He is so for real. The Real Deal.
So hope he stays healthy and is around for a long time. Know Mike really likes him. Heard an interview with Art Sheman and he picked him to win too. He sounded like he really liked him too.
Ingrid Arnone
Mike his doing so good.
Congratulations, to Mike…

Old pic tweeted I found when. Jim Rome paid a visit to Mizdirection in France.
Think she is entertaining on taking a bite out of him. He always said she
was not a nice horse. Called her his equine gangsta. She looks good though.

Congrats Shared Belief and Mike Smith.
What a Super Star
And what a beautiful horse OMG, What a weekend.
They said Shared Belief said Where’s California Chrome……………………Too Cute
Max
Peggy . Glad for you. If he stays healthy, as a gelding, Shared Belief will have many more years to race. Too many horses retire to stud too young when they could be racing. Racing is what it is all about. Enjoy this.

Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Max,
Yes sure hope he stays healthy. Sure hope we see Danny around for longer too.
Max
Peggy. Frankly my nerves are a little frayed over Dan. I love that horse. I want him to stay healthy. The Beast and Dan. Those are my guys. Add in baby Coz when he starts his career. And the Moosester. But I don’t have to worry about the Moose getting a racing injury.
Free the Moose!
Ann NC
Max, thanks for the tale about, Beast. He must keep that barn hopping! Never a dull moment with horses, but with the likes of Beasty Boy, yikes! That pony must get special treats. JB, maybe we should mail some muffins to that barn!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Beastie’s pony could use some treats; he needs to keep up his strength. Love and Hugs, JB

I am new at this but had a feeling Shared Belief would win. I felt for Game on Dude when Mike chose Shared Belief but understand Mike’s call with so many years ahead for SB Game on Dude gave it his all. Congratulations to Shared Belief and Mike, what a great day Mike had!

Dear Judy
I just read an article when I looked up Eblouissante and I think you would like it if you haven’t read it yet. It is on the internet under-Eblouissante- and the name of the article is Eblouissante Benefits from Dressage Training by Leslie Kauf (-BloodHorse)
It says a lot about Ebby, her history and the close bond she has with her exercise rider Jaqueline Kandalaft-Gomez from the UK. She and John both love Ebby and I am sure they will do right by her.
Goodnight,sweet dreams,
Debbie

From Equibase
Eblouissante finished 7th beaten by 25 3/4 lengths, on August 24, 2014,

Sigh……..She could be an incredible dressage horse. Time for career change. BGG

That would be a beautiful sight.
Hopefully, Ebby got rid of the gate demons and no matter what happens, that was a huge step for her. A confidence builder no matter where she goes next in her career.
Love her.

Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
Peggy,
She had a case of the “Thumps” which I found out is an electrolyte imbalance and could have affected her performance. She’ll be fine after they correct that. hugs
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Hey Sue, And thanks, Worried about her. Think she has a wonderful owner so they will surely take very good care of her.

Dear Peggy, Sue Fredrick and Z Fans:
Wishing Princess Sylmar a quick recovery. Certainly explains her performance in the Personal Ensign. Love and Hugs, JB

Peggy, Sue and Judy, The Princess has been hanging around with Palace Malice too much. Also, he worked out with My Miss Aurelia one day last week and look what happened to her. Think that bad boy is not a good influence on the girls.

Wow is all I can say after watching the race.Shared Belief is amazing , his stride is beautiful to watch and his surge at the end was so powerful! I have a lot of respect for his team pulling him at the derby due to the abcess and as Mom use to say-Everything in it’s time.Well, today was his time. Thanks BGG for the 3 videos, I am a believer.
Rose Edwards(Quarterhossgal)
Lots of news today. Great race Pacific Classic. Impressive win by Shared Belief. Was hoping Dude could hang in there and win again. He is a gallant horse, always gives everything. It is hard when you run best in front and there is always a rabbit in the big races to challenge you. Dude has such a great personality I hope he is around for quite awhile. And then retired either to Kenucky Horse Park or Old Friends so his fans can come to see him.
Sounds like Ebby maybe reaching the end of her race career. Either ready to be a broodmare or a show career. In the right hands she would do well either way.

August 25 Cherokee Devotional
We have a flair for convincing ourselves that there is nothing we can do about certain things-when it is more likely we don’t want to do anything about them. As long as we still care enough, we go on looking for solutions and hoping for miracles. But every day that goes by distances us from so much that no longer stirs us. Gradually, those things we thought so important fade and slip out of our daily thought. It is called gv ge wi s di in Cherokee, and means neglect in anybody’s language. It is one thing to let something go when it means nothing, and another to think we still have control and find the urgent need to retrieve it. What is important? It is vital to know what we want and need-if we are ever to have it.
I was very sorry when I found out that your intentions were good and entirely different from what I supposed they were.

Dear Kathy.A typical Bank holiday Monday over here very wet!Am so glad you escaped the earthquake in Riverside County. There was a lot of damage. As they often say you are all waiting “the big one”!!Had to laugh at Marty cancelling Monday and he’s won another award! The caretakers aren’t doing a very good job in looking after Joey’s page while momma/agent is away, they will have to get the sack!Mango and her sissys are going to Indiana today, mom is taking her Harley there and an Uncle is driving with the dogs so she can return with them. No morning conversation today!Glad to see Fubu so alert and happy is preparing for his party this week.Great video of Miss Kitty’s brother Miiko and the bunny!Boo is on a cookie hunt with his little booties on!Great races last night.Have a wonderful week.Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Happy Bank Holiday to you. I was very glad to not feel any shaking here. We always have “the big one” in the back of our mind, however. I’ve been through lots of earthquakes. Never one where I couldn’t stand up. That would be a whole other matter! I guess I can just stay home today since Marty cancelled Monday. That’s a great excuse if I ever heard one! There will be a lot for us to catch up on with Joey when momma/agent get s back. I hope Mango and her sissies have a great time on their trip. Always good news when Fubu feels good. Loved the video of Miiko and Fletcher. Fletcher is such a beautiful rabbit! Hope Boo finds lots of cookies. Love his little shoes! Glad you enjoyed the races. Always such a day-brightener! Have a great day. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar.

Good morning.Toast ran well yesterday and my boy Game on Dude didn’t hold on but had a gallant effort..I am impressed with Shared Belief, what a race!
Thanks for the posting about Glesni-I could never have imagined the fight for the nest with Blue 24 until I saw it.. I knew Glesni was brave and determined but that goes beyond brave-heroic is what she is.Knocked right out of the nest twice,Blue landing on her with talons in her back, and then the fights in the sky and she still persevered.I have nothing but respect for her and love the shot of her flying with some nesting material. God speed Glesni.
Gwynant is enoying a big fish in the nest now. Hope you are having a good day.
