Zenyatta will not be bred this year. She continues to do well and is looking great with her new paddock buddy—even sharing her cookies. We’ll post more photos of them soon!

We appreciate all of the love and support her fans have shown. While we understand the concern the public has for Zenyatta’s well-being, we ask that you do not contact Lane’s End Farm to inquire about Zenyatta or her foals. We do our best to be generous with information and to share Zenyatta’s life with her fans through this website. Zenyatta.com will continue to be the source of official updates on all things Zenyatta.

    Dear Roberta G and z Fans:

    Checked on the Forum for news of ZI. Someone posted a tweet from Jeremy Balan, a night editor at BloodHorse. He said that ZI is turned out for some time off. He spoke to JS and John said when ZI gets back, if he still wants to be a racehorse, they’ll try another year. You can read the tweets verbatim on the Forum.

    So we know ZI’s OK and may race again. Beautiful Chestnut Prince. Love and Hugs, JB

        The tweet didn’t say where ZI was turned out. I’m guessing might be a farm not to far from SA. I don’t know.

        One of the tweets also stated that Z17 will be going to JS. Don’t know if she’s going to Mayberry’s for training like her Mama and brothers or somewhere else first. Love and Hugs, JB

        • You are probably right. I think that Giacomo may be in California too. Ziconic deserves some down time. Hope that it does him some good so that he can race again.

    Racing fans at Belmont Park on Friday will be treated to a rare sight at American racetracks: the purple-and-scarlet colors of Her Majesty, The Queen.
    Call To Mind, a 4-year-old owned and bred by Elizabeth II, figures prominently in the Grade 2, $400,000 Belmont Gold Cup Invitational, which will be contested at two miles on the Widener turf course. Trained by William Haggas, Call To Mind won the 2017 listed Goodwood Revival March Stakes and has placed in a pair of Group 2 events, including a third in his most recent outing, the Yorkshire Cup on May 18 at York.

      BGG. Very good article. Her racing silks are truly impressive. Take a look at them when the race takes place. Her horse also will probably not have a pony leading him to the gate. They don’t use ponies in Europe. After the Brown Panther took off at Woodbine, they used a pony when he raced in the US. I really liked the Panther. Gone too soon.

    Bloodhorse today has an incredible piece on Mine That Bird. With a video. He looks like a million dollars. I wish I knew how to make it an attachment to the z blog. He is loving his life in New Mexico.
    Lovely Zenyatta he is almost as loved and appreciated as you .

      I saw the video on Bird on Bloodhorse. He is living a good life and is treasured and loved as a Derby winner should be. He might be lucky in some ways to be a gelding. No traveling around the world to breed. Just relaxes and eats peppermints with his family.

    All jump fans in the UK are mourning the death of a legend today.Denman was put to sleep yesterday after his health deteriorated over the last few days.His devoted owner Paul Barber knew the great horse was living on borrowed time and his vet was afraid he would go down and never get up again so the decision was taken after consulting with Paul Nicholls his trainer and head lad Clifford Baker.
    Now he is with his old friend Kauto Star again no doubt remembering their battles on the racecourse.Denman’s finest hour came in 2008 when he outran and outjumped his rivals in the Cheltenham Gold cup.He even came back to win the Hennessy in 2009 after his heart problems.He possessed all that was great in a chaser speed,stamina courage and an incredible will to win.Rest well now free from pain.Much sympathy to Paul Barber,Paul Nicholls and all who cared for this wonderful horse.We will always love you cariad.RIP

    I have not seen a recent photo of our Queen since she lost her foal….has anyone seen her in person? Is she well? I’ll admit I worry a lot for those I love …. but please tell me she’s alright cause she was seen well since she lost her baby….

    Dear Judy.As you can imagine a sad day for jumping fans today.He will be kicking up a storm with his old pal Kauto now.Denman had wonderful connections his owner Paul Barber saw him almost every day and the family will miss him.
    Bobby bach rolled over in the nest today just to show us his fat tummy!It seems bobby no1 followed his mum last night to get more fish Monty helped to brood then and all was well.Blue5F (Glaslyn)has been seen with an unidentified male her 2 eggs are still in the Pont Croesor nest.Both intact.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Djakadam retired due to injury

    Willie Mullins has revealed that his popular dual Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Djakadam has been retired due to injury. The 9yo, who won back-to-back John Durkan Chases in ‘15 & ‘16, sustained a hock injury in last month’s Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris @ Auteuil. Story to follow.

    Watched Dark Horses last night on NBCSports. Highly recommend it. Great story of Easy Goer and Sunday Silence and the Hancock brothers. What a treat to see Easy Goer in all his magnificent beauty and little Sunday Silence in his agility and speed. Their races were ones for the ages.

    Between weeding and anticipation of the Belmont races, my fingernails have seen better days. Read that Justy bit Bob yesterday! Keep him in line Justy!

    Max: I’ve been following you on this site for some time as wee are both Canadians. I’ve never known you to be rude before. Sheena has been a great Zenyatta.com contributor for a long time & I know she was just being kind about her comments on RFK & JFK. We’ve all commented at one time or another on important events of the day & nobody has said “what’s it got to do with horses”. Just relax, OK?

    Sheena and Judy,
    So happy that Thunder Snow is coming for the Breeders Cup. Smartest horse I have seen in a long time. He had enough sense to know he should not have been running in that muddy mess at Churchill. He earned himself a lifetime fan in me.

    The loss of JFK and RFK broke my heart and I too wonder how it would have been if they had lived. I wanted so badly to vote for John but I was too young the first time and sadly there was no second time.

    My longshot for the Belmont is Tenfold. He and Vino Rossi are two Curlins side by side in the gate.
