Zenyatta will not be bred this year. She continues to do well and is looking great with her new paddock buddy—even sharing her cookies. We’ll post more photos of them soon!
We appreciate all of the love and support her fans have shown. While we understand the concern the public has for Zenyatta’s well-being, we ask that you do not contact Lane’s End Farm to inquire about Zenyatta or her foals. We do our best to be generous with information and to share Zenyatta’s life with her fans through this website. Zenyatta.com will continue to be the source of official updates on all things Zenyatta.

Happy Derby day Everyone.A beautiful day at Epsom.A 2nd chick at the Dyfi from egg no 1 and a crack in egg no 3.
Today sees the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty’s coronation. She is spending the day at Epsom as usual. She has dedicated her life to the service of this country. The younger royals should take a lesson from her.Royalty can never live a ‘normal’ life.I,for one, would want them to.There is a certain mystique about the Queen. We know her and yet we do not.It is as it should be.Congratulations Ma’am.
sheena.davies(wales)
Would not!
sheena.davies(wales)
Cracksman had a bit of an ordeal in the stalls yesterday he lunged forward and gave his head an almighty whack when the horse next door got upset. They had planned to be up among the paceJohn Gosden said he must have run the race in a complete daze.Cracksman is fine this morning and ate up last night but a decision whether he runs at RA will be taken nearer the day.
Judy Berube
Dear Sheena:
OMG, how quick these unexpected scary turns can happen with our beloved horses. Hope Cracksman is OK. Love and Hugs, JB

A first Derby for the boys in blue as Masar wins.Saxon warrior could only manage 4th so no TC for us again.Congratulations to Team Godolphin,Charlie Appleby,William Buick and of course Masar .His daddy won the race in 2008 with Princess Haya’s colours
Max
You forgot to mention that the boys might have been wearing blue, but Masar won in red cashmere. He’s a chestnut. Nice to hear after the race the declaration by Sheikh Mo that he loves horses.
sheena.davies(wales)
Oh,yes he wore it well! And of course he is related to Urban Sea through Galileo she is the 4th dam?Galileo the sire yesterday and grandsire today.
Max
She might well have given that coat to him. She’s also on the sire line. Urban Sea was a blue hen mare of the first order in addition to being a super race horse.
Judy Berube
Congrats Masar. Chestnuts Rule. Love and Hugs, JB

I know there must be thousands of unsolicited suggestions for potential matings for Zenyatta, and that her team spends innumerable hours researching and developing the most promising matches. That said, however, I would love to see her crossed with Ghostzapper, and the resulting foal named Ghost in the Machine… what a fun horse for which to cheer!!
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy. There was some worry about the 2nd bobby out of the first egg but he/she has eaten now.Telyn made a duvet for them out of nesting material! She has taken well to motherhood and seems quite excited A beautiful day for the races.Saxon Warrior may go for the Irish Derby now.Oh,the bookmakers were happy!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Congratulations to Mike Smith and Unique Bella on your win in the Beholder Stakes at Santa Anita. An additional treat was seeing Mike’s best friend Gary Stevens present the trophy to him.
I hope this win is a preview of Mike and Justify in the Belmont next Saturday. No jockey deserves to win this more than Mike this year. I wish I could be at Belmont to cheer them on. Hopefully, I’ll get to see them at Saratoga this August.
Dear Zenyatta, I am looking forward to seeing the pictures of you and your new pasture mate. I trust that whatever your owners and whoever decides what is best for you is carefully thought out and is in your best interest no matter what anyone else thinks or says. I hope that your best friend, Ann gets to visit you often.
Judy Berube
Congrats Bella and Mikey; well done. Love and Hugs, JB

To Judy B and anyone else who would like to see Havre De Grace’s 20 18 filly, there is a photo of her on Timber Town Stables Facebook page.
I also read that American Pharoah is going back to Australia for their next breeding season on Coolmore’s Facebook page.

John has Gary Stevens on a Moss 2yo today in race 5.
Ziconic ran so well for Gary, who praised Zi’s “engine” after their race, that I hope John puts Gary back on for Ziconic’s next effort.
shirleeinindy
Nancy,
I also would like to see Gary back on Ziconic. He has the riding style that would seem to fit and seemed to really like him the one time he had the mount.
Judy Berube
Dear Nancy and Z Fans:
The Moss’ and JS’s two year old, Mobou (Uncle Mo) panicked and got loose before the race yesterday. Luckily, he was grabbed before any harm occurred. Was his first start and he finished third in spite of his misadventure. Poor baby. Hopefully, he will calm as he gains experience. Love and Hugs, JB

Aidan is sending Seahenge out to the US for the Belmont.Maybe for Ryan to gain experience on US dirt for Mendelssohn’s return later this summer. No slop please and stay safe.
Max
The horse needs the experience, not the jockey. Roberto’s jockey had never worked in the UK before Roberto won against the Brigader. Last time out Seahenge lost by a large margin to Funny Duck at Churchill, 7th. Belmont was also the scene of Galileo’s loss to Tiznow, also by a large margin.
sheena.davies(wales)
One has to admire Aidan for trying!Seahenge got beaten 40lengths by Mendelssohn at Meydan and look how he fared in your Derby.A lot over here think Ryan needs the experience too. They lost money yesterday in the Epsom Derby.
Max
O’Brien has been trying the same tactic for nearly 20 years, shipping in horses at the last minute, who are usually not in the same league as US dirt horses. If you want to win on dirt, the horse has to be trained in the US on dirt. They also need a US trainer. That’s a main reason why Northern Dancer won the KD and Preakness. He trained in the US and had a top level US trainer. Having the Gray Ghost as his dam sire helped too.
Max

Wow, what a Champion he was. That battle with Dark Star reminded me of Z’s 2010 BBC closing battle against Blame. Love and Hugs, JB

I just saw your post to Sheena saying Native’s loss to Dark Star reminded you of Zenny’s to Blame. We are on the same wavelength. Love and Hugs, JB

Chestnuts are on a roll everywhere. Pink Lloyd just won again at Woodbine.

Judy Berube
Congrats Pink Lloyd. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
That’s great. Congrats!
Max
According to his trainer, Pink is boss at Woodbine. He has to train alone late in the morning. If he sees other horses on the track, he goes after them. Ha! No wonder his trainer loves him and buys apples for him every day. With that pedigree and speed, he could race on dirt in the US. Pool Play trained at Woodbine, but he won the Stephen Foster for Lane’s End racing.
Ann NC
Pink sounds delightful.
Max
Timeline, a chestnut who runs for Woodford Racing, which is connected to Lane’s End, wins the Belmont Allowance. No stopping the chestnut club.

I remember Timeline. He raced in the Haskell and the Penn Derby last year. Congrats to another gorgeous Chestnut. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
It’s nice to see him doing well.

.Dear Max.Wonderful article about Native Dancer. The KY Derby can be a brutal race even for one as great as the grey ghost. Thanks for sharing
Max
That loss reminds me of Zenyatta. A little more real estate and the Ghost would have had the KD, just as she would have taken the BCC.
Max
Connaught Cup Stakes at Woodbine won by the chestnut club.

Oh, so happy for Blue. Prayers for safe fledging and flights for all the new chicks and their moms and dads.
Thanks for sharing the link to Coz. What a stunning boy he is. Would so have loved to see his babies. But, it’s wonderful to see him enjoying life. Of all of Z’s foals that we have been able to see grow to adulthood, he’s the one who most resembles her so far. Beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

The Queen Elizabeth II is sending one of her horses to Belmont to try to win the Belmont Gold Cup on the turf. Call to Mind by Galileo will be ridden by Javier Castellano.

Judy Berube
Dear Max:
The Queen’s horse and the other Euros should relish the distance. Our US hopeful, Nessy, will be ridden by Mikey. Maybe he’ll have a multiple win day. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
I’d love to see The Queen win this for sentimental reasons. She was thrilled and showed it when her filly Estimate won at Ascot at that distance a few years ago, She still rides herself too. She was out riding her horse when the new Prince Louis was born in April. Great woman.
Judy Berube
Dear Max:
Yes, would be great to see the Queen win. She is a great and special lady. Love and Hugs, JB
