Zenyatta will not be bred this year. She continues to do well and is looking great with her new paddock buddy—even sharing her cookies. We’ll post more photos of them soon!
We appreciate all of the love and support her fans have shown. While we understand the concern the public has for Zenyatta’s well-being, we ask that you do not contact Lane’s End Farm to inquire about Zenyatta or her foals. We do our best to be generous with information and to share Zenyatta’s life with her fans through this website. Zenyatta.com will continue to be the source of official updates on all things Zenyatta.

BGG,
Thanks for that very interesting article. Sheena can verify this, but I think jockeys in England ride at higher weights that ours. Also, like the idea that it is easier for women to stay at lighter weights. Have women/girls in the family who are around 5’1″ and stay around 110 or so.
sheena.davies(wales)
Our Jump Jockeys of course ride at a higher weight Lester Piggott often said he lived on a diet of coffee and cigars to maintain a weight of 8st 6lbs plus he was tall for a flat jockey Frankie Dettori has been known to use laxatives and induce vomiting.AP McCoy has put on at least 2 and 1/2 st since he retired.

Dear Judy.AP’s brother St Patrick’s day reared in the stalls and was withdrawn.Telyn the bobs and Monty survived the storm last night but a lot of nestorations were needed.Meghan was in Chester today with Her Majesty.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Dear Sheena:
Oh, I hope St. Patrick’s Day is alright. Scary stuff. Glad the Ospreys came through OK. Guess they’ve been busy making repairs. Read that Meghan was accompanying Her Majesty to a charity event. That’s good.
Visited Hudson today. She looks good and is back training well. Will visit Charlie, Alex and Angela on Saturday morning. Alex is recouping well. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties

Dear Sheena,
What a hoot! I think this is among the funniest (if not THE funniest) of Hovis’ adventures with Mum. I must remember to be on the lookout for those dreaded MAMILs. ?
The visual that Hovis described with his words is enough to spook anyone!
Thanks so much for the laugh-out-loud entry to the weekend. ?
Hugs and Love
Judy Berube
Dear Sheena:
This is one of Hovi’s funniest ever. Laughing out loud. Do hope things go well for him and Mum this weekend and MAMILS are not sighted. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties
shirleeinindy
Sheena,
Thanks for the post from Hovis. What a joy to read. I think we all share his feelings on the MAMILS. Some people should never leave their homes in spandex. Wish he and Mum have a nice happy peaceful weekend together.

Dear Z, COZ, ZI, BBG and DC:

Hi Judy,
We made it back from Montreal (where our friend nearly ran us ragged, but what an interesting city!). So nice to have even a short visit with you! I see Irish War Cry is back to tempt me again this weekend. Did I learn my lesson last year?? Hmmmmm . . .
Love and hugs,
Sandy
Judy Berube
Dear Sandy;
Glad you’re back safe and sound. Montreal is a fun place. Russ and I did a lot of sightseeing there too; but I was up to it then . Was wonderful spending time with you again. Maybe next time we can visit the horses. Get some rest now.
I was torn between Irish and Patch in my contest choice. Love both of them. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sandy,
Great to see you back on the blog! We had missed you.
Happy that you had a lovely trip, too. Hmmm, Montreal sounds especially wonderful here in NC. Our temperatures are going up, up and up accompanied by equivalent humidity. ICK!!! Looks like sweltering weather is upon us. Too bad for the likes of me. :-(
Hugs and Love

Horrible video doing the rounds on twitter of a stall handler repeatedly punching a young horse because he/she was playing up.It has been reported to Delaware park. Many think he should never be allowed near a horse again.I have no idea who the jockey was but why on earth did’nt he stop the handler. Not good for our sport.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Judy. Definitely one of Hovis’s best this week.We have a boy and girl at Manton Bay they were ringed this morning.Cute video one of the bobs tidying the nest!Winx most probably will run on August 18th in the race named after her.
Great to hear about Hudson and know Alex is healing.Enjoy your time with Charlie.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

Yesterday was Muchie’s (Mucho Macho Man) 10th birthday. Happy Birthday to him. His foals are outstanding! Hard to believe it has been 7 years since I first saw his skinny gawky self in the Risen Star. It has been such joy to follow him. Couldn’t ask for better than the trip he and Gary had in the BC. Haven’t Gary up made it even more special.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Happy Birthday Mr. Muchie!
All the best wishes to MMM on the occasion of his 10th — good health, good times and lots of TLC with treats thrown in, too.
Thanks for the reminder, Shirlee!

Coolmore have purchased former Champion Hurdler Annie Power now in foal to Galileo. She failed to carry her Camelot foal to term.Rich Ricci will retain a share in her foal by Galileo who should be a force to be reckoned with.Better luck this time Annie.

Dear Sheena:
Wishing Annie P a healthy pregnancy and a healthy foal. Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties

Dear Sheena, Shirlee and Z Fans:
Charlie was out in the far paddock this morning so I didn’t get to visit with him or give him his treats. Left them in his food bucket and he’ll have them for breakfast tomorrow. As long as the weather is good, most of the horses are staying outside overnight and coming in early morning for breakfast; then back in the paddock again. They have a routine they’re used to. Charlie’s been behaving himself and not rearranging his mates tails, so he’s in the paddock with his friends again.
Alex is doing well; still has a way to go before she can get back riding. Told Angela you are asking for Alex and wishing her well. I know she appreciates your concern very much and thanks you. Didn’t get to see her today.
Shirlee, wishing MMM a very Happy Birthday; gorgeous boy. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Judy,
Sorry you didn’t get to give Charlie his treats in person. Know he will have a great breakfast tomorrow. Thank goodness he is leaving his buddies tails alone. Continued healing for Alex.
The Stephen Foster is going to be on NBC Sports at 8:30 pm or so our local listings say. Sure hope it is true as I would love to see IWC and Patch. So glad they have continued to race as 4 year olds. Win or lose they are still 2 of my favorites who are racing this year.
Judy Berube
Dear Shirlee:
Yes, Charlie’s being a good boy. Angela rotates the horses from paddock to paddock to keep the grazing good for them. When he’s in the near paddock, I’ll get to feed him his treats. Today he was in the far paddock which is quite a hike.
Alex, is being very patient and persistent in her PT, which is important.
I love both IWC and Patch. Lookin At Lee too; I know you like him too; exciting closer. Watching NBCSPORTS now. This Stephen Foster is loaded with talent. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Shirlee, Sandy and Z Fans:
Did you hear Graham Motions interview about IWC’s diaphragm condition. Can be exacerbated by hot and humid conditions as well as other things. Certainly explains why IWC has been off his game in some races. I hope they retire this gorgeous boy. Not fair to him to keep pushing him to race with this condition. I never knew he had this problem.
Congrats to Pavel. Hope Patch is OK and all came back safe. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
I am surprised Graham allowed him to race in such humid conditions.I have tweeted him.He says IWC was fine returning to the barn last night. Many have commented he should run in cooler weather no mention of retiring him.Love and hugs.No luck for Aidan in the Prix de Diane Traffic problems .Laurens won for Karl Burke and PJ Macdonald
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
Definitely sounds as though IWC should not be subjected to the awful heat/humidity which exists during this season (especially in southern areas). The diaphragm condition certainly explains a lot of his inconsistencies.
Hope Patch finished in good shape, too. Pavel is a gorgeous grey and Congratulations to him and all connections on winning the Stephen Foster!
Charlie got a lovely surprise breakfast this morning — YUM! :-)
Hugs and Love
Lynn Martin
Excuse my question, but who is IWC????
Lynn
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Lynn,
IWC = Irish War Cry He’s a beautiful 4 year old who raced last year and is trained by Graham Motion.
Sorry about the shorthand!
Hugs
Marilu Villanueva
Dear Judy:
Thank you for the update on Irish War Cry. Thank God he is fine. I was hoping to hear good news about him. I hope they will give him all the rest he needs.
Was cheering and praying for Patch. I heard he was off for 9 months. Glad he is back.
Hugs, Marilu
Judy Berube
Dear Marilu:
I was rooting for Patch too. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Judy,
I agree. He should have a nice future as a sire and from what I have read his owner loves her horses.
Last night it was too hot for any of them to be running. Taking nothing from Pavel and his beautiful tail, but I think several did not run their best races because of the heat.
Judy Berube
Dear Sheena, Marshall, Shirlee and Z Fans:
Yes, I think it’s unfair to keep racing IWC. He can’t live up to his potential with that problem, poor baby, and he is a very talented boy.
Pavel was at his best yesterday; gorgeous Gray.
Yes, hope Charlie enjoyed his surprise treats this morning. Love and Hugs, JB

hope zenyatta is having a wonderful free time no baby. A time off and hope next season she is bred to the best stud possible to produce a triple crown winner. Now would that not be the best ever. Produce a wonderful little one who grows up and is trained by the one and only Bob Baffit and wins a TC. I only hope her son Ziconic can be given a chance with a good trainer to get the best from the beautiful boy.
sheena.davies(wales)
Ziconic is with a good trainer already. After all John trained his mother Zenyatta.
Z13Rulz
That doesn’t mean he’s the appropriate trainer for Ziconic.
Ziconic is not his mother. His mother would never have been used as a punching bag for another horse, the way Ziconic was for Gormley.
Judy Berube
Dear Z13Rulz:
That practice always makes me sad. Could really confuse a horse and ruin his confidence. I’ve read Seabiscuit was used that way as a two year old in training. Boy, did he show ’em.
Every time I see a “rabbit” in a race, I say a pray that he just keeps going and wins. Love and Hugs, JB

Thanks for the link. Coz looks great — nice to see Ann getting to spend some time with him! Also, it is good that Isabela got to visit with Zenyatta and give the Queen a fine back scratch/massage. Z looked to be loving that! Of course, Queen Z looks beautiful.

What a joyful video of Ann actually riding her boy Coz. I don’t think any of us ever thought that possible. With his love of Ann and Isabella, wonder if he would have done better with all women on his team? Isabella will always have a place in my heart for all she has done for Coz.
Zenyatta looks wonderful. So glad Ann is here to visit. Hope she got to see the little princess and perhaps name her? I am sure we will see many more photos of her and the family.
