Happy Wednesday!
2016 has been off to a chilly start in Kentucky. Last week we spent a few days at Lane’s End with Zenyatta. We braved cold weather that didn’t seem to phase The Queen, and we even got to play in the snow.
Zenyatta is looking gorgeous with a healthy winter coat and growing belly. Her veterinarian says that momma and foal-to-be are both in excellent health. She has bonded with her paddock mates and she even shared her treats.
It won’t be long before foal watch begins in March! Scroll down for photos.
Enjoy!

Do not weep, de tlo ya’sti, that things happen that are wrong. There was a time when it seemed I mourned for everything-even a clump of grass on the road seemed as if it were a fallen animal. But all that pain was for nothing. If that clump of grass had once been a living thing, it would no longer be cold or hungry or homeless. It would simply have gone back to the great continuum of life.
We grieve for many reasons, but turn from weeping. Darkness is the backside of light. Turn so you can see the light that shines.
Do not grieve. Misfortunes will happen to the wisest and best of men…Misfortunes do not flourish particularly in our path. They grow everywhere.

Dear Kathy.i remember my grandmother telling us not to grieve when she would die and she didn’t want a “fuss” at her funeral.Sometimes I think David Bowie had the right idea. The Dyfi has burst it’s banks and Bangor is waterlogged. It has stopped raining though and is very mild the doves have been cooing all morning.Zoe had a busy day yesterday even fancied a drop of wine!Poor Wimbley is ready to come out ob his healing apt. There;s still a lot of snow about the place one man was complaining it had been 3 days and no one had cleared the snow in his area.He should live in the UK if we’d have that storm we would have been housebound until the summer!!!
Mango had got 16000 friends and Abby ate Mattie’s toofee’sShe had put them under her pillow for the fairy to visit and Abby found them. Will be glad when we get a post from Fubu peeps are getting worried.Hope the nurses are still on duty 24/7 and you are healing.Have a good day.Love and hugs to you.kisses for Holly Nikko and Sugar,SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
All seems well with the furbabies. Yes, that was funny that Zoe wanted some wine with lunch. Wimbley looked a little swollen to me, what do you think? Hopefully we hear from Fubu soon. Not sure what made Mattie’s tooth appealing to Abby. Dogs do crazy things sometimes! My 3 nurses are still on duty. Have a good Wednesday. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Every time I see Zenyatta, I reflect back to that magical Summer/Fall of 2009. I was credentialed at Hollywood Park, and thus, was able to photograph her races. Seeing grown men weep in the aftermath of her victories took me to a most special place. To see how Zenyatta, in all of her beauty and grace, could draw the most raw, yet beautiful response from within even the hardest of men. What a sight that was to see and feel.
Zenyatta became a permanent fixture in my life and family during that wonderful time. In 2010, I was fortunate enough to visit Zenyatta at Hollywood Park on two separate occasions. Once in September, and lastly in October. A week or so after the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs. John Shirreffs was most kind to allow me the pleasure of seeing Zenyatta in all of her glory one final time. What was even more of a pleasure was that I was able to bring my mother with me to visit. My mother had undergone a very difficult period in her life, and Zenyatta became a personal ray of sunshine to her. I even have a picture with my mother and Zenyatta together. A cherished memory that will forever be in our possession and memory.
Zenyatta is so much more than a racehorse. Words are simply insufficient in describing her. She meant so much to racing, and so much as a creature that represents all that we see as both noble and perfect. Whether it was her grace and fearlessness on race day. Or her kind sense of soulfulness. I am most thankful that I was present in this world at the very same time she graced the lives of so many. I am convinced that there will never be another one like her. That the day God made her, her broke the mold. Never to be duplicated in another lifetime. One of my favorite sayings is stated so simply. “The horse. If God made anything more beautiful, he kept it for himself.” I am thankful that God saw to it to not only make her, but to share her with all the world.

Thank you for your beautiful and heartwarming words.

Anthony Andrews post was so perfect. It grabbed all my thoughts about the Queen exactly. She is a beautiful gift. My bucket list is just to be able to just touch her just once and look into those beautiful and thoughtful eyes of hers. I miss her so much on the track and hope someday one of her foals can give us all the same wonderful feeling that she did. AP was good for all of us this year but there was just s o m e t h i n g about the Queen that was just magical and just made you feel so good inside.

These pictures made my heart glad!! I know Zenny loves seeing Ann and Jerry. She knows she is still loved by “mom’ and “dad.” She looks healthy and happy. Thank you for the pictures.
Barbara Wood
Beautiful photos, beautiful Zenny! Love hearing good health reports on our girl!
Secretly hoping for a filly here, but we will take whatever you present us with. You are a mighty unselfish girl to share your treats with friends. I think our guy would only share if he knew there were a bottomless supply forthcoming!
Hang in there, Zenny. We are counting weeks now instead of months. Love you always.
Katie Kane
She’s so beautiful and round! She looks so happy. What a great life she has.
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
Simply put, how beautiful! All these pictures are so wonderful. Some how looking at the first pic with the snow in the air, it WARMS my heart, though snow means cold, seeing Zenyatta with her playmates.
Ann and Z have such a special love and bond!! These are the most precious pictures to me.
Pretty soon I will be pacing just like before and happily awaiting the news of a healthy foal and a healthy momma Z. This is all I pray for; of course my heart also wants perhaps to see another filly!? What do you think momma Zenyatta?
Thank you for these lovely pictures to us.
hugs, Sally B

Thanks for sharing the pictures! Zenyatta looks great!! ???

As much as I miss seeing her beautiful self killing it on the racetrack, I love her filthy horse body. So nice to see her being a HORSE and not a pristine show pony in her ‘retirement’. Motherhood agrees with her :)
