Happy Wednesday!
2016 has been off to a chilly start in Kentucky. Last week we spent a few days at Lane’s End with Zenyatta. We braved cold weather that didn’t seem to phase The Queen, and we even got to play in the snow.
Zenyatta is looking gorgeous with a healthy winter coat and growing belly. Her veterinarian says that momma and foal-to-be are both in excellent health. She has bonded with her paddock mates and she even shared her treats.
It won’t be long before foal watch begins in March! Scroll down for photos.
Enjoy!

I so love my Queen and her beautiful babies. Thanks to her mom for allowing us vicariously to touch her and worship her from afar.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation, stand firm. Difficulties can shake your foundations, but they don’t have to tear down your common sense. The numbness that seems to take over is a safety zone-a place and time to adjust. Don’t lie down or roll over, and don’t go to pieces. Instead, speak quietly and gently to your own inner person. Tell yourself to take your time in dealing with the situation. Then step aside and observe the overall picture before making any decisions or making any moves. Rev up your spiritual strength and rely on it. Know there is a strength beyond your own. Use it. Making a quality decision in a difficult situation demands full use of your head, heart, and spirit. You can do it-you will overcome the difficulty.
My children, you must take the right course.

Thank you all so much! I’ve been having a hard week and these picture’s of the most beautiful horse in the world, Zenyatta, just put a big smile on my sad face! Can’t wait for the foal!! Ann Moss and all of her team are the best! Hope to someday maybe, being able to see her in person. Thanks again!!!!!!!

Thank you doesn’t really say enough to express my deep gratitude for these wonderful photos of our Queen and also how happy it makes my heart that you continue to share her life with us through this blog. It is beautiful. Zenyatta looks so lovely in her warm winter coat, including the special touches of mud and most importantly, she appears to be content and healthy and happy in her life. The photos with Ann are so tender and it is clear that she loves her mum. Thank you for capturing and sharing these moments with us. I wish I had a more exquisite vocabulary to be able to say what my heart feels, but my sincere Thank You will have to work for now.
Allen
Zenny you look wonderful! Looks like you have been to the Spaw for your mud bath. Thanks Team Z.

Dear Sheena,
Just got back from the specialist. He said they did a good job suturing me up. I’ll be off for 2 weeks. I see him again Feb. 4th just to check on how I’ve healed. He also said I was really lucky that nothing broke. I liked him, a very nice man. The nurses are still on duty, so I’m in good hands (paws?). Love and hugs, Kathy XOXO

Good news bad news. I’ve been away for a bit and am just now catching up. First, RIP Gulch, King Mambo and Arch. Heck of a start to the new year. However, I wanted to say “Congrats” to Mr. and Mrs. Moss on Keri Belle’s win in the Megahertz.. I see that Coz and Ziconic have been working out and here’s hoping that only will be seeing them run in the near future, but that this is the year they both get acquainted with the WINNER’S CIRCLE!!! Congrats are also in order for the connections of the foals that have already broken out of the gate. The “Foal Patrol” has begun. Finally, like many others, I wanted to thank the Mosses for the lovely pictures of Zenyatta. I’m sure it makes everyone’s day to see her out in the paddock running and playing just being a horse with no races, not mom things and no worries.

Just can’t help myself. Want to run after the truck yelling “Don’t go, please don’t go!”
Don’t know why these trips to Dubai make me so uneasy but they do. I was so relieved when Lea got home safely last year. It does seem to take a lot out of them. Safe travel beautiful Chrome.

Thanks Elizabeth. When I was drifted off to sleep last night, I started thinking about Chrome’s packing list. Really enjoyed seeing all of those feed bags. What a job!
Good luck beautiful boy. Mind your manners, study hard and send a post card home! LUV YA!

We are saddened to hear of the deaths of Arch, Kingmambo and Gulch all within days of each other. We were fortunate to have seen them last week on our Kentucky visit.
Visiting Arch was especially memorable. Arch was the favorite of Rodeo, the stallion manager at Claiborne. As we approached his paddock, Arch ran over to greet his own favorite — Rodeo. Rodeo and Arch engaged in a long conversation with Arch vocalizing as Rodeo asked questions. We fed peppermints to him and to his son, Blame, in a nearby paddock. Like his sire, Blame also displayed a gift of gab.
Later, Rodeo brought War Front out of his paddock to greet us and be fed mints. A beautiful, majestic and kind stallion indeed. Rodeo told us that he had held Zenyatta’s lead in both her visits to War Front. She was totally composed on both occasions and that War Front is so athletic that he did not require a mound for the mating.

Dear Kennedy’s:
Thank you so much for sharing your visits with these magnificent horses. Wonderful that you got to meet them and learn some insights to their personalities. Love and Hugs, JB

The Kennedys,
Thanks for sharing your visit to Kentucky with us. I am going to Claiborne in the spring. Never dreamed Arch would not be there. Thanks for letting us know something about him, Blame and War Front. Glad WF didn’t need a ladder to complete his date with The Queen. Did you see my beautiful Lea while you were there?
Ann NC
Enjoyed reading about your visit. Very special memories! Happy you were able to visit Zenny and those handsome boys.
Janet Newman
The Kennedys,
Thanks for sharing your visit. I enjoyed Rodeo when I took my tour in 2014.
He is a true horseman and had a great relationship with Arch. I cherish my picture taken with him. A few of us wanted to see Arch close-up and Rodeo was gracious and very happy to take us back and then go retrieve Arch from his paddock.
Claiborne posted the yellow roses that his groom “Daddy Rodeo” sent and had placed at his stall on their facebook page.
So far, 2016 has been rough with the losses of Gulch, Kingmambo and now Arch.

Dear Kennedy’s

Last night I found a wonderful video on my other favorite ‘horse’ author, Bill Nack. He’s speaking of Secretariat. It is wonderful. It’s about an hour long, I think. I’m going to go back to the website and finish watching the last few minutes later this morning.

Even when we do something satisfactorily, we still want to do it better. There is always a better way. If we keep trying, we know that-sometime, somewhere, somehow-we can do it better, and we will. Persistence, determination, and faith help us do what we couldn’t do simply and easily the first time around. It’s important to remember that if what we are doing is too easy, our power and creativity begin to wane. Working hard keeps our power and creativity alive. A better way is always there and faith knows where it is. Find your faith and let it enliven your power and creativity. Together they will help you do what you need to do.
The smarter a man is the more he needs God.

Dear Kathy.I always try to do better but don’t necessarily succeed!I hope you are recovering well and the nurses are on duty 24/7!CC looks to have lost some weight during the long flight but is very perky. He is certainly taking in his surroundings.Peeps were getting well prepared for the East Coast storm by stocking up on essentials including Fubu who visited the doc yesterday and Kimberly was shopping as well. It’s gone back mild over here lovely after the overnight rain but Chepstow is waterlogged. The ground will be heavy in Leopardstown and Ascot this weekend.Ray had a sad story about a little boy called Dorian whose dying wish was to be famous in China. His story has gone viral. He’s only 8 but has a rare form of cancer. He’s from Westerly RI (maybe Judy will know)I shared his story now he will get known in Carmarthen hopefully.Zoe had some good visits yesterday and I think she’s going to see Mr Al today.Oliver is not giving up yet.Dolly’s meowmie must be very depressed no post since Jan 11th.The ratties had beams and Mr Fibbs took fibe!Oh,Hovis is like a gentle giant with Lily someone suggested Karen get a pony????He’ll warm up today but I think it’s still raining in his part of the world.Take care and heal.Have a great Friday at home.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.XOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
The swelling has gone down a lot, thankfully. I thought CC looked thinner, too, but as you say, still perky. Best wishes to everyone in the east. We are marshmallow here in the west. We admire you easterners! I read about the little boy who wanted to be famous. Zoe made a lot of visits, bless her. I need her to come see me!!! If only…Prayers continue for Mr. Al and Oliver and for all others who need God’s healing touch. The ratties seem to love beans. Such a diverse diet! Enjoy all the racing. Safe trips for all horses and jockeys. Love and hugs from me, kisses from the 3 nurses. Kathy XOXOXOXO
