Happy Tuesday!
Alys sent us these sweet photos of Z Princess out in the paddock with her mom and their paddock mates. We’ll be visiting Lane’s End in September, and we can’t wait.
In the meantime we’ve been hard at work planning the rest of the year for Zenyatta.com, and we have some exciting announcements coming up. Today, we’re starting a brand new mailing list for those who’d like to stay updated. You can subscribe by entering your email address in the form to the right (just under the search form). Members will receive news from Zenyatta.com, offers from the Zenyatta Shop, and will be the first to know about special events and opportunities to meet Zenyatta!
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena,
You’re right…Jiff is a dead-ringer for Boo. So adorable! Love all his videos.
Do you check on Luni and Wookie of My Pom Pals? They are really adorable, too.
Hugs, Kathy.

So so grateful to you all for sharing this fabulous mare and her life with us. Thank you.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
There is nothing original left to say. The Princess is gorgeous!!! Thank you SO much for sharing these pictures. And perhaps a chance to meet Zenny. OMG!!!
Regarding the green tape: We saw some mares with colored tape on their halters at Taylor Made earlier in the summer. We were told that it represented a “regimen” that the horse was on (type of feed, or vitamins, or something like that). Maybe the same is true for the youngsters.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sandy:
Very interesting about the tape. Hope you enjoyed your trip. Have no idea yet who I’m going to choose in the Woodward. Have you made your pick yet? Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Z Fans:
Just got back from the farm an hour ago. Wanted to bring some more Stud Muffin treats to the horses that I had frozen from the batch I made last Thursday.
I knew Deb, Amanda and Hudson were leaving for the show today, but I didn’t know what time. When I got there Angela, Deb and Amanda were trying to load H onto the van. They said they had been at it for some time. H kept half rearing up and going to the side to avoid going in. As I approached, H broke free and headed to her paddock. Deb was very upset; Amanda a bit calmer went after her and brought her back. I asked if they wanted to try the Stud muffins; Deb said nothing was working. I walked over to Hudson and gave her a little piece of treat while walking backwards toward the trailer. Gave Amanda some treats and both of us walked backwards to the ramp. Hudson followed. I put a piece of treat in my hand very low just above the ramp and H put one foot on the ramp. Meanwhile, Deb was in the trailer with a bucket of grain with bits of muffin treats on top. Hudson put both hoofs on the ramp and as we fed her treats and told her what a good girl she was, she came up into the trailer. I hope Hudson forgives me.
She was stomping and kicking a little at the back panel of the van. Hoping she settles and does not hurt herself. I told the girls to take off and not leave her waiting too long. They asked if I had more of the treats and I gave them all of them. I suggested they use them exclusively as a reward for exiting and entering the van. They should stay fresh until Sunday when H will have to load onto the trailer again to come home. Waiting to hear they arrived safely. Whew! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. You seem to be as good as any horse psychologist, maybe better. Let me know when your book is coming out.
Free the Moose! Beast, train and try not to break free too often. Keep ’em guessing.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max, Barb, Sheena, Kathy R and Z Fans:
Max, you are too funny. Barb, Sheena and Kathy R the Stud Muffins seemed to motivate Hudson to climb into the trailer. Very good bribe. Just got an email from Deb. She said all is well and Hudson is relaxed and comfortable. So happy. Power Up, Danny, CC, Beholder, CDA, Treve, Big Trouble, Hudson, Sir, Angel, Reilly and all who are ill or injured. Beast, listen to Max. TT, love you forever. Loose The Moose!

Dear Judy.Poor Hudson she certainly has a fear of the trailer.A little reward works wonders.Hope she will travel back well.If only we knew what was going on in their mind I hate to see an animal frightened. You should come over to the UK and coax Moosie!Love and hugs Sheena.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Maybe I should send some Stud Muffins to Moosie. Love and Hugs, JB

@Judy B.–so Stud Muffins did the trick, huh? I definitely have to make some for Money. If it would get him in the trailer, that would be awesome. Guess I’m in trouble, since I’m going out to the farm tonight without any. Big hugs to you and LM.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Barb:
Hope they work for Money. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Team Z.
What a beautiful photos, Z princess looks so beautiful!
Thank you.

Dear Judy:
Excellent work with the stud muffin “bribe”! I’m taking some pieces of Pink Lady apple out to my little girl this morning to see if she has more interest in apple than carrot. The next step is to use the stud muffin approach (just don’t want the rest of the paddock to try and get into the action as well!). Hugs KathyR
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
Please let us know how Little Thurzel likes the apples. Hope she likes the Stud Muffins too. You’re right; try and give the treats to Thurzel when she’s outside of the paddock. Don’t want a stampede. Love and Hugs, JB

Princess Z is gorgeous and really put together well for her age. A very special girl – she looks confident and very sure of herself for one so young. All of Z’s foals have a little something extra that seems to come from their amazing mom.
Thanks for these gorgeous pics

Dear Judy.So glad Hudson is fine now and settled.Summer Samba has come through her surgery just fine,a bit groggy but Janiss is picking her up in a couple of hours. She doesn’t like the idea of the lampshade!!!Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Glad Summer got through her surgery OK. Poor baby; none of them like the “lampshade”. Yes, Hudson’s happy in her stall at the show; the girls just have to get her back onto the van on Sunday and home safely. Might as well worry about that when the time comes and enjoy themselves. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties

Dear Judy
I am so happy you arrived at the barn just when you were needed-those stud muffins are deee-licious and what a great idea to coax Hudson on to the trailer!! Mine are all gone and it’s time to make some more.I didn’t post your recipe at the barn,,that’s for you to share and you may make a patent on those one day!!!In the meantime Ash loves them!
He was very funny again today. When I groomed him he did his mutual grooming on my back as usual and then a little bend and he was under my tummy. I finished grooming one side and then he raced from his stall to the out area,,did a 180 and returned to show me the other side.He also does a bend and with his mouth touches briefly those hard to reach spots as if to say “Here too”.He raised his leg up-glad he is still flexible-looking like a wing to show me he wanted under his leg and the creases meeting his belly scratched. It doesn’t help that we have more mosqitoes than ever before, little pesky things..Loved his walk and braved the mosquitoes when he grazed.Left nice cool water in the buckets..He is quite the lad.
Goodnight Judy and all Z fans,, Love and hugs,Debbie
ps Good luck to Flower Alley. I’ll Have Another is in Japan and some of his first crop are in the yearling sale..He was such a gentle soul as well as a talented racehorse ,hope he has some success as a sire. Sad he was injured, wish him the best.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear debbie s:
Please do share the Stud Muffin treat recipe with everyone who would like to have it. I’m so glad Ash loves the treats as much as Charlie and Hudson. He is a real sweetheart. You two have a wonderful bond. Just hearing about his antics makes me smile.
Yes, wishing all the best for Flower Alley and I’ll Have Another. Hope they both come back home to Kentucky some day. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
JB,
You are an awesome horse whisperer. Glad the girls arrived safely and hope they have a fun show. Let us know how they do, please! For you, the main ingredient in those treats…LOVE.
Go, Danny, Go. Just come home safe and sound big guy.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
My Dear Friend Ann:
You are too sweet. Yes, I will post how Hudson did at the show as soon as I know. Hoping she loads easily on Sunday to come home.
Did you decide your pick for the Woodward yet? I went with two long shots in an Exacta Box; Bernie’s Boy, Romansh and Prayer For Relief with Johnny V aboard. I’ll need a boat load of prayers for that Exacta to come in. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
Hudson will be tired and worn out by end of show, she will glide right onto that van.
Am thinking positive here, JB, but we know that Diva might have her own plan!
Wow, like your cappin approach. Good luck. I need to get started, have no clue? Was reading about the CB, Zivo? Anyway, that Morena looks like he is ready to fly.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Yes, I will think positive too.
My Exacta pick is over the top. Counting on Moreno and It’s My Lucky Day to have an off day; not likely. But, as TC would say; even when you know, you never know. Zivo is a closure; always dangerous. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Oops: Sorry, that should be Zivo is a “closer”. Love and Hugs, JB

Just got back from Ocala Breeders Sales. The first thing that comes to mind to say is I was just in heaven. Just heaven. So many babies to see.. Just Gorgeous. Had so many favorites, but then I just love them all.
The young colt by Leroi/Big Gem is just gorgous. Gorgeous. He’s young but not little. He’s a big really big boy. He’s only one. OMG can’t imagine when he gets grown. He’s a beautiful Chestnut and does look like Daddy.
Max, I got to spend a lot of time with him. They didn’t mind me petting him. He’s a little bit of a biter they said. He must not be very bad. As they didn’t seem concerned about it.
He appeared to have sold to a training center right there in Ocala. I’m real happy about that. So hope he stays near. Wonder if they would sell him as a two year old after training.
Judy, Sallie, Debbie, Sandy and all Thank you for wishing me a good time.
Just loved all the horses, but really fell in love with this young Filly by Noonmark and Costly Imotion. Get this you guys her mom is Affirmed’s Daughter. Costly Immotion is old herself 1994. This filly was so sweet. I was about in tears looking at her. Just loved her Grand Dad. I believe she sold to a training center in S. Florida. Will definately keep track of her. Got to pet her a lot. She never tried to bite. Loved having her head rubbed.I left for a while and when I got back she hadgotten her hay. They teased me and told me she might ignore me now as she was eating. They laughed. but, you know she did come right back over to see me. OK i’m going to stop now, I’m tearing up.
Thanks Max too for well wishes on my trip.
It was beautiful weather and the Palm trees at the hotel were about to blow away in the wind Tuesday. It was hot, very hot when you weren’t in the wind, though.
Love the Palm trees

Peggy,
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. It sounds like you made a few equine friends.
It is emotional to see these young babies and wonder where they will go in their

Dear Zenyatta family:
Went out to see my little girl this morning. It was a beautiful spring day here, and when I got to the paddock couldn’t see any horses. Well I went in and up the rise, and there they were – well four of them, including little Thurzel – lying flat on their sides, soaking up the sunshine – and sound asleep. One of the other horses, the grey, was half dozing in a sitting position, obviously the look-out for potential trouble (like Mum coming to groom Thurzel). So I watched them from a safe distance so not to disturb them, then left quietly. The apples are now in the compost bin! Hugs KathyR

August 29 Cherokee Devotional
To earn a standing place takes control, control of the tongue and all that leads to what it says. Being clever and having powerful connections is about as reliable as cheap scaffolding. It can all tumble down under the slightest pressure. Permanent security is never in things or in fame. Securing is an inner, personal reliance on what the Cherokee calls Galun Lati, or the Great Spirit. People have always attempted to amass fortunes and still be happy apart from anything spiritual. Things and fame can come to anyone willing to work for them-but contentment and health go hand in hand with the Great Spirit.
We never quarrel about the Great Spirit.

Here is a chuckle of everyone. With the long weekend upon us there will undoubtedly be a lot of barbequeing going on. This will keep us straight on what our duties are.
When a man volunteers to do the barbecue, the following chain of events is put into motion:
1. The woman buys the food.
2. The woman makes a salad, prepares vegetables, and makes dessert.
3. The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill – beer in hand.
4. THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
5. The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
6. The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
7. THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
8. The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces and brings them to the table.
9. After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
10. Everyone PRAISES THE MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
11. The man asks the woman how she enjoyed her night off and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there’s just no pleasing her.

Dear Kathy.Only goes to show women make the world go round!!I am late as usual, very stormy and wettish in Wales today the live streaming was off earlier but back now.Deri will be too fat to get off the ground soon! She’ll need all that surplus weight on her long journey though.Poor Fubu and Kimberly have to look for a new doc, disaster at the clinic with the storms and she’s been with them so long it seems she had one of her famous headaches last night it’s one worry after another for her.Has Zeus Mcgoose got a new sisfur?I haven’t been on for a while and there’s the sweetest little pom pup called Mia there.Mango and her sissys have had to go to a pet hotel while the housemove is on.I was in tears reading their conversation yesterday as if momma would ever forget them! It’s a long journey for them to NM.Zoe had a great story about her visits yesterday and she melted the heart of a male patient.I just loved her in her nurse’s uniform.Hope you have a wonderful weekend.Hugs to you, kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
We continue our hot and dry conditions here. Feeling sorry for the chicks with their mom gone and that long journey ahead of them. Godspeed! Bad news about Fubu’s doctor. It’s just one thing after another for them. Praying that their new doctor will be as good as the last one. It would be one thing if it was just routine care, but with Fubu being so ill it is a much more complicated case. Yes! Mia is Zues, Zoey and Bailey’s new baby sisfur. She is ADORABLE. I have to go back and read the conversation of Mango and her sissies from yesterday. Sounds very touching! Zoe continues to win people over all the time on her therapy visits. She’s a doll! Have a great day. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
