Happy Tuesday!
Alys sent us these sweet photos of Z Princess out in the paddock with her mom and their paddock mates. We’ll be visiting Lane’s End in September, and we can’t wait.
In the meantime we’ve been hard at work planning the rest of the year for Zenyatta.com, and we have some exciting announcements coming up. Today, we’re starting a brand new mailing list for those who’d like to stay updated. You can subscribe by entering your email address in the form to the right (just under the search form). Members will receive news from Zenyatta.com, offers from the Zenyatta Shop, and will be the first to know about special events and opportunities to meet Zenyatta!
Enjoy!

KathyR: On my recent cruise, I shared a dinner table with a wonderful couple from Australia. They were non-horse people but when I mentioned Black Caviar they lit up like a Christmas tree. Legends have a way of doing that. They also brought up Phar Lap.
KathyR
Dear Especially Horses/So Cal
Pleased you enjoyed the company of a couple of Aussies – it’s so true that Legends draw people to have an interest in a sport. Hope the cruise was all that you wished for. My sister has just finished a river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam and just loved it. Cheers, KathyR.

Our little girl is sure growing up. Such a sweet face and eyes like her mom. Doesn’t look as if she inherited the Roberto ears.
Was thinking she should be weaned pretty soon.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Yes, COZ seems to be the “Ear” King in the family so far. The Princess was 5 months old yesterday; so I think you’re right, could be soon. Love and Hugs, JB
shirleeinindy
Judy,
On the Forum they said Jess’s Dream (Taco) had moved from Saratoga to Belmont and thought Coz had moved there or would be very soon. Hope we get some news and pictures soon. Also, greedy one that I am, would love to see even more pictures of Zi. I have a terrible horsey crush on him.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
I’m with you. Can’t get enough updates on all of them. Love and Hugs, JB
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
He will probably be off to “horse school” soon. I think we got some pictures and video of Coz last year when he left Lane’s End so maybe Zi’s departure will be in our future.

Dear Max:
Fabulous article and photos. Great insight into the life of The Chestnut King on a race day. Love the fact that he is a “dunker”. Really admire his owners, Mr. and Mrs. Fink and his trainer, Mr. L. Thank you for posting this link. What a horse! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. Fabulous article about Dan. He is an incredible athlete. We are lucky to be able to watch this horse run. Wild and free, King of the Chestnuts, and King of the Milers. Titan of the turf. Run Danny run.
Free the Moose! Beast and Snakie, learn from the best.
Ann NC
JB, I also got a kick out of that “dunking” story about, Dan.
Thanks for posting it here, Max.
A great story.Thank you, Steve Haskin!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max and Ann:
Steve Haskin really captured a “Day In The Life” of the KING. WD is a very Cool Dude and so is Mr. Haskin. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Max,
Thanks for posting this Steve Haskin article about Wise Dan! I really enjoyed reading it.
It is so wonderful that Danny’s people are so great — obviously enamored by this magnificent horse. They all give him the love and excellent care he so richly deserves.
I love this story and the super photos, too! Love you, Danny!!
Lots of Hugs
Max
Marshall. You said it. All of those guys around him can see the greatness in Dan. They are gifted. The life force in Dan is just phenomenal. Run Danny run.

Dear Max. A great day in the life of WD.Enjoyed that story.Treve is back later this month in the Prix Vermeille I was rather surprised at Criquette’s remark that she didn’t want her knocked about in the race.I should hope not!!Sea the Moon will have a new rider Christian Mureno(sp?) because Christophe has to ride for the Aga Khan.Someone said Ryan Moore should ride him he has nothing booked for Sir Michael that day.It was great to see Warrior at last get the animal equivalent of the VC today presented to Brough Scott.Free the Moose PU Beast Niss4Senate.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. Are you talking about Sea The Moon in the Arc? I would not be concerned about who rides. STM could win regardless of the jockey. He has showed already that he decides how it is done. Very powerful horse.
Free the Moose. Beast, hope that you are okay. Snake, no biting.
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
It really hit me this morning after I arrived at the CV Horse Sanctuary and reading last night volunteer’s log comments: Fancy is beginning to have more labored breathing, which I then noticed too. However she had just come in from the pasture, a small moistness to her and warmth was present. She is our incredible black Arabian of 34 years. I was up close and looking at her eyes and she indicated to me, “No big deal if I walk a bit labored or breath that way, I will still go out and enjoy the pastures”. I am learning something from these older horses. Live life to it’s fullness. Do not allow aches and pains stop you from what you enjoy, and keep active in mind and body. They may not have our worries of every day life, but they simply live like they have always done as best as they can; they are content with their lives I think.
I can not say I am able to live like I see them do , but I would like to.
Such wisdom coming from me must be histerical to you, I agree!! Once in a while I go into my thinking mode.
hugs, Sally B

Thurzel update:
Went to see my little girl today: she has asked me to pass on her gratitude to Judy for the stud muffin recipe! The only problem I had was with the pushy Leo (an Andulusian cross) who is giving grey horses a bad name. Has to have his head or body front and centre at all times. But my girl is smart, and is now doing a very good side step to move away from him, and close to me to get her muffin. Today she even came back to the gate – made me feel very guilty leaving her. Had to explain I had General (my dog) waiting patiently in the car, and the housework. But it was just terrific being there with her, and feeling that she’s really beginning to trust me. Just so happy! Hugs KathyR
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy R:
You and Thurzel are really bonding. Wonderful. I love your comment; Leo is giving grey horses a bad name. Too funny. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
KathyR. Tiny Thurzel needs all of those muffins to keep growing. This is a great story. Happy for you.
shirleeinindy
KathyR,
So glad things are going well for you and little Thurzel. She sounds as if she is adjusting to her new life and is beginning to really love her new mom. Many happy days to the two of you together. Bless General for being patient.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Well said, Shirley. Ditto from me KathyR

LT and The Stud Muffins, great story! Soon your girl wil recognize the sound of your car and come running. So happy for you, Kathy R.

Dear Z Fans:
Received an email from Deb tonight. They arrived home late yesterday and Hudson loaded into the van easier. They had help from a very patient friend of Amanda’s who has a lot of experience with horses. Deb said she has photos a video that she will be sending to me. I will share with you when I receive them.
Also, tonight I received a text from Jackie with new photos of Diamond. I have linked them below.
I brought Lola Mae to the groomers this morning for a much needed shampoo and trim. I thought you would like to see her with her little red bow. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Judy:
I’m always amazed how quickly these babies grow! Diamond is a real cutey. And Miss Lola Mae would look very sweet sitting next to my big white standard (General is a real gentleman). Love and hugs, KathyR

Dear Kathy R:
I know. Even Z Princess; growing so quickly. Would love to see a photo of General. Love and Hugs, JB

JudyB. Always enjoy your photos.
You might be interested in some Snake news. The Snake used to be trained by Tony Dutrow, the Beast’s trainer. Now he is with Chad Brown. Both Chad and Tony worked as apprentices with Bobby Frankel. The Snake is now ridden by Abel Castellano, Javier’s brother. Javier rides The Beast. It’s a very small world.
Free the Moose. Beast and Snakie, you both better be asleep.
Ann NC
Someone’s cape better be hanging up and off duty…..Beast? No rearing for awhile!
shirleeinindy
Judy B,
So happy to see Diamond growing and looking great.
Lola Mae is a cutie with loads of personality in her face.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thanks for sharing these Judy. LM is SO cute, and Diamond is really growing up. So glad that Jackie is keeping you “in the loop.” :-). Love and hugs, Sandy
Ann NC
Thanks, JB.
LM is just too darn cute!
Diamond is a sweetheart.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann, Sandy, Shirlee and Max:
Yes, Diamond has really grown. She’s a little beauty. My Lola Mae likes to have her picture taken and poses like a DIVA. Happy that Jackie continues to send me photos. Look forward to sharing them with all of you too.
Max, wow, there is quite a connection between The Beast’s people and Snake Pit’s peeps. We will have to keep track of both of these beautiful boys. Power Up CC, CDA, Treve, Beholder, Dan, Big Trouble, Beast, Sir, Angel, Reilly and all who are ill or injured. Beast, listen to Ann (hang up the cape) and Max; TT, love you forever; Loose The Moose! Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. There’s a Z connection too. Z and Snakie both have Kris S and Roberto as their grandfather and great grandfather. They are on Z’s distaff, whereas the Snake has them on his sire line. The Snake has inherited the Roberto ears. He might also have inherited the same disposition as Big D. No problem. Those tiny horses don’t suffer fools.
Free the Moose! Beast, rest that ankle. 59 days to go. Snake, train!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Max:
Oh, very good genes. No, these “tiny horses” do not suffer fools. Big D made that perfectly clear. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sally B.
Beautiful thoughts captured with your words today.Horses teach us so much. You heard your lovely friend and I am touched by her message-would that we could all accept our lot with such grace.
Goodnight,hugs,Debbie
KathyR
Dear Judy:
My apologies: forgot to say what good news it is that Hudson loaded more happily. Maybe she just wanted to get home after all that activity. Would be so helpful if they would just admit they can talk and so let us know what concerns they have etc. Love and hugs, KathyR
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Kathy:
No worries. Oh, I think we would get an earful if they could talk. Hudson should be more and more comfortable and less frightened about loading and riding in the van as she goes to more shows. Can’t wait to see the photos and the video of the show that Deb is going to send me. Love and Hugs to You and your Little Thurzel, JB

Dear Sheena:
Amen. Unfortunately, there are factions in the world today that are equally capable of killing and hate, as we have seen. Very, very sad. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Sheena,
Thanks for the reminder of the start of WWII. May we always remember, especially since many of the very same types of actions are occurring now — more hate, wanton killing and desire for world domination. When will the human species learn?
Lots of Hugs and Love

@Judy–I would love to have seen the picture, but I couldn’t get them to open for some reason. Hugs to you all.

Dear Sheena
Just saw you had a post late yesterday when I thought you would be sleeping… wishing you sweet dreams tonight.
Lest we forget, thank-you for reminding me of an important day.Paused to remember.
I took Ash out for a walk in the rain yesterday afternoon,he was so energetic and fun.A chipmunk let out the loudest, shrillest screech a few feet from us,in typical Ash style he raised his head “What the heck was that!” and took some quick steps but very shortly settled. Ash has such a sense of himself that it doesn’t matter what the horses around him are doing ,he is calm.He is very wise and intelligent-and a dunker(also a lot of fun). Ash has left a legacy with many young riders who appreciated his steady ways and personality and the beautiful form he had when he jumped. He took care of every rider and made it his personal job to bring them home safely.Even now when we go out with other horses he wants to take them up the driveway to their barn before turning for home. I just loved the post about Dan’s Day and the pictures and comments were wonderful. He is a stellar athlete,a gentleman with such character and courage, and the apple of his owner’s eye( and his trainer and everyone connected with him) .Makes me want to cry to see good stories like that. Wise Dan is the man!!!
My cousin from Seattle and her husband are coming for a visit tomorrow, getting ready.
Tully loves company and we will all go out and visit Dad on Fri.-will be fun to reminisce.
Hope you are OK and thinking of you. Big hugs and love,Debbie

Dear Debbie.I tend to be a bit of a night owl unless I have to go early.Deri was enjoying the sun on the Dyfi today, she was squawking on the perch next to her dad later on.
It sounds as if you have a wonderful relationship with Ash,we all love a dunker don’t we!!! My mother and her sisters all dunked their biscuits but I never have!
I’m afraid so many these days have forgotten about the wars and how millions died for our freedom.Yes, I loved the post about Wise Dan and his race day. He’s a horse to be so proud of just as we in the UK were of Frankel. In a way I’m a bit jealous because you all can still enjoy him on the racecourse whereas Frankel is busy making “babies”
I hope you enjoy your cousin’s visit,I’m sure Tully will and your dad too.Have a really lovely day together.Thinking of you Love and hugs Sheena.
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
Kathy R, It is wonderful to know that you and Thurzon are getting close!! I am thrilled for you. It is very special for sure.

Judy Berube; It was so great to see the pictures!! Diamond is adorable!! I could see the second pic of Diamond more clearly. I need a Lola Mae in my life!! The pic of her is so sweet and special. Instead we have kind of inherited my one sons german sheperd.
Mia was the one I raised during the days as a pup on through four- five months old. She simply is too big for me to handle when out for a walk etc. Yes, I need a Lola Mae!
