It has been a beautiful spring in Kentucky for Zenyatta and her paddock mate, Vixana. Alys Emson often stops by their paddock with her camera, and she took the following photos in May and June.
Dear Judy.Poor Glesni has had a thoroughly miserable day so wet and windy, the mumbrella has been out all day.We are due a full moon on the longest day a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The chicks at Rutland have grown so fast and are feeding themselves on times. Here Kitty-Kitty has allowed the peep to stroke her ears and pick her up(just once)She has found a great place to live.Watching one of my favourite films “The English Patient”Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank and Bentley and all the sweeties.SheenaX

One day the vegetable garden looked pitifully dry and the vegetables just weren’t growing. Then a surprise summer shower pushed through. The very next day the pepper plants and tomatoes started to bloom and “set on,” as a good gardener knows will happen. Give life a chance. Don’t plow under hopes and dreams before a surprise shower comes through to replenish them. Even if showers aren’t predicted, know that this is “due season” for many things due us. Be a positive prodder and predict what you would have happen. We have not because we ask not. We must collect what is owed us by making a simple request and then giving thanks that we have not been forgotten.
We have told you our patience is worn out.

Dear Kathy.I’m afraid the showers aren’t much of a surprise in Wales! The”bobs” were hidden by mum all day yesterday it’s good to see them today and Monty brought 28 fish to the nest last week.Wow,118F with Zoe going out for a early walk temps only 88F lol! It’s bound to rain at Glastonbury later this week.Chepstow is waterlogged and William Buick called the French stewards corrupt yesterday, not a good idea.He got a 30 day ban.The Prix de Diane was a pretty rough race and they blamed his horse for the interference. There is a short programme on ITV4 tonight about Nijinsky a great favourite of my dad’s.Our last TC winner in 1970.The Zombie apocalypse is here according to Mr Fibbs.I have signed a petition to save Cyril the Squirrel some people have reported him for hiding his nuts in their plant pots I ask you how selfish can humans get??? He is very popular with other people a bit of a celeb!
Did you see Theba’s dad lovely photo of Joey with him yesterday. He is a much missed cat.I used to love his videos with Tom.Mango raised nearly $3000 for her mission and Cody had a visit from the toof fairy he had to have 4 removed.Wimbledon next week!!!Woo-hoo.Hope Rafa can play.Remember to turtle and look out for the zombies.I was up so late last night watching “The English Patient”I feel like a zombie already.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Poor Glesni, getting drenched so regularly. She’s a tough little osprey! I worry about Zoe in that extreme heat. Of course Mommy takes excellent care of her, so that’s a huge plus. I think we’re supposed to be 110 today. It was hard to rest last night. ACs are really getting a workout right now! So many wonderful sporting events going on right now. Enjoy! I hope Cyril wins the battle in the end. He sounds adorable! Yes, that pic of Theba, her dad and Joey was beautiful. I agree with you that the videos of Joey and Tom were the BEST. Congratulations to Mango for all the money she raised. I hope the Tooth Fairy was generous to Cody. I will be turtling and watching out for zombies. You do the same! Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
Dear Kathy. You are indeed in my thoughts today!!!Too much heat I’m afraid.I know we complain about our climate over here but at least it’s very changeable. We never know what to expect from one day to the next.Take great care.XOXO
Thanks so much! I’m still kicking. Drinking lots of water to stay hydrated. Today (Tuesday) was a little cooler. Thank you Lord! Have a good night. Hugs, Kathy
What a weekend! The Queen gets a winner at RA (and the FB pictures of her delight at doing so are just precious!!), Songbird turns in another stellar performance, and the 52 year drought is over in Cleveland!!! The Cavs won the NBA championship!!! Wooo Hooo!!
BIG Congratulations to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA Championship title!! I know the fans are proud and rightfully so. I don’t even follow the NBA, and I was so happy they won. I love a good “come from behind” story!
By the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored harder than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God which is with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Grace is not simply leniency when we have sinned. Grace is the enabling gift of God not to sin. Grace is power, not just pardon.
This is plain, for example, in 1 Corinthians 15:10. Paul describes grace as the enabling power of his work. It is not simply the pardon of his sins, it is the power to press on in obedience.
Therefore the effort we make to obey God is not an effort done in our own strength, but “in the strength which God supplies, that in everything God may get the glory” (1 Peter 4:11). It is the obedience of faith.
Paul confirms this in 2 Thessalonians 1:11–12 by calling our acts of goodness “works of faith” and by saying that the glory this brings to Jesus is “according to the grace of God” because it happens “by [his] power”:
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his call, and may fulfill every good resolve and work of faith by [his] power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The obedience that gives God pleasure is produced by the power of God’s grace through faith. The same dynamic is at work at every stage of the Christian life. The power of God’s grace that saves through faith (Ephesians 2:8) is the same power of God’s grace that sanctifies through faith.
I am a very infrequent poster now due to my poor vision. It’s really hard to read the posts so I mainly look at the pictures. Zenyatta is always and forever beautiful.
If this has already been reported, I apologize for the duplication. This is for the long time posters. Do you remember a young girl who would end her posts with, ‘Katie Clawson Future Jockey”? I think it could go back to the Diaries. Last night I was looking at the Blood- Horse online in the “see more” section and there was a headline that Apprentice Clawson won first race at Churchill Downs. I thought I knew the name and thee was a picture of a smiling, pretty young woman, Katie Clawson. Wow. She knew early on exactly what she wanted to do and followed her dream. I don’t know her, but almost feel like a proud Aunt. The horse she rode is named Street Thunder by Street Sense out of Thunder Lilly, by Thunder Gulch. Pretty impressive pedigree, I think.
I’m happy that Untapable has been retired. She had nothing to prove. I didn’t realize that she is the leading earner for Tapit. And, she has two full sisters and a full brother following behind her. Exciting times ahead.
Marty,
I don’t remember her on the blog but did read the article and see the picture on Bloodhorse.com. So glad she was able to realize her dream. Nice win.
Hope she and others like her will encourage more girls to be jockeys.
Hi Marty! I thought that name sounded familiar, but I didn’t remember why until I read your post. Thanks for letting us know. Huge congratulations to Katie!
It is so good to see a post from you! I am sorry you are having vision problems, but check in whenever you can.
I remember the “Future Jockey” girl, but didn’t remember her name. Thanks for letting us know about Katie C. I am very happy that she achieved her dream career.
Congratulations to Katie Clawson on her win with Street Thunder! Yes, I would say that is a very impressive pedigree.
I too remember Katie Clauson Future Jockey posts on Z’s Blog. Many Z’sters replied with their good wishes and encouraging her to follow her dream. So nice to hear that she has fulfilled her dream and has won her first race. How appropriate that her first winner is a member of Z’s family. Congrats Katie.
Thank you for sharing that information! I also remember her posts signing with her future jockey dreams. How wonderful! I will watch for her in the future, thanks to your kind message.

@ Marty R– I DO remember Katie’s posts on the blog! I always thought it was so cute to sign them that way. SO happy she was able to realize her dream. Sounds like it was a great win!! Go, Katie,GO! We will all want to follow her now!
Prayers for our Miss Traveller, please,as she had colic surgery last Thursday!! It was quite a harrowing day. After two separate tariler rides, she, and Barnaby arrived at the hospital where they did the surgery. He HAS to be with her, for both of their sakes, so, they are still there. She may be developing an infection in the incision and may be getting a drain put in today.
We are scrambling to get the East Fork place ready for her convalescence. Hopefully, they will be able to come back home in the next few days. The doctors there are WONDERFUL and are doing all they can for both.We are going down early each morning to hand walk them. Barnaby is right across from her in his own stall. They can look at each other. You should have heard him neigh at her when he saw her after she left the recovery room–then they did it back and forth—just shrieking at each other–it was as though they had been separated for months!!
I think it will be touch and go for awhile but we’re praying she will be all right.
Was so happy to hear that Gun Runner had such a great win–just love him. I saw R Sunday Surprise’s race replay on Cal Racing and was glad she got third–she will be fun to follow!! Beautiful girl !!
Sweet dreams, Zenny girl–kisses to you on the wind!
Oh no! So sorry to heat about Traveller, Sue. So glad that they are allowing Barnaby to be with her. Sending good thoughts and prayers that she will recover, and they are both back home soon!
So sorry to hear about Traveller’s surgery. I will keep her in my prayers that she heals quickly & goes home soon. I think it’s really neat that Barnaby is able to stay with her. What a great “horspital” you have there!
Hello to all my Z friends from the blog. May God bless each & every one of you.
May God also bless our special Queen & her sons & her friend, Vixana as well as her human family & all who care for them. Bless all of earth’s animals and keep them safe from harm.
So sorry to hear about Traveller’s condition. Positive thoughts and prayers for her complete recovery. It is so nice that Barnaby can be there across the aisle from her, too. Sure hope they both come home soon.
Hugs and Love to all (you, Boss Mare Sue, Traveller, and Barnaby)
Dear Sue.Sending love and hugs to Traveller and praying she will recover soon. How wonderful her friend Barnaby can be there to watch over her.God bless them both.SheenaXOXO
I’m so sorry to read about Traveller’s difficulties. That colic seems to be all too common. How wonderful that her best buddy, Barnaby, can be with her. It sounds like a very compassionate hospital. Hoping Traveller is doing better and will have a good recovery and can go home soon.
So sorry to hear Traveller has had to go through a colic surgery and will keep her and you all in my thoughts and prayers. My OTTB, Sugarfoot, had colic surgery over a year ago and is doing wonderful now and I count my blessings every day. It is so cool she is able to have Barnaby there with her to help in her recovery. The recovery does take a while but she will most likely enjoy the pampering. Please keep us posted.

Thanks for this cute link. Those raccoons are smart — great little problem-solvers. The human species doesn’t have ALL the intelligence and ingenuity in the animal kingdom!
Doubts? Sure, we all have them-doubts born of past circumstances that make us believe there isn’t a chance. But when we were born, we were equipped with a full measure of faith. No one, absolutely no one, received more than we did. It is just that we have a hard time believing we have such faith, so we opened up and let doubt come in. Now we need to open up and let all those doubts out-insist that they go. We cannot harbor them because they are rooted in fear. Fear is an emotion-and emotions can be managed by faith. Claim the full measure of faith that you were given at birth, and let those doubts go.
You have told us to speak our minds freely, and now we will.
-Little Turtle, Miami
Thank you for today’s wonderful devotional posting. It so positive and uplifting. We all need help coping with doubt and fear, and it is reassuring to remind ourselves of the power of faith.
Dear Kathy.Little Turtle is very wise.Another cool but dry day here the “bobs”are relaxing on their own.Glesni is having some “me” time. The winter is on it’s way the Dyfi is choosing pics for next year’s calendar!Thinking of my mother on her birthday today she would have been 95.So many memories.
Boo and family have got a minivan and are going on a trip this weekend. Can you imagine 3 dogs and a baby! How are you coping with the heat did you follow Mr Fibbs special abvise and kept your doughnuts cool?I can never imagine us having those kind of temps I do recall Heathrow hit about 100F in July 2006 it was very hot in Wales that day too I felt quite faint. We are all very excited about our football team because rugby is a way of life in Wales!I heard there are wildfires in the Los Angeles area.I expect there is still a drought in your area.Frankel’s daughter Fair Eva is racing next week at Newbury. She looked great in her first race.Poor Zoe posted about their friend who has high vet’s bill.Zoe is giving up her treat and new dress money.God bless her.Felix has chasing pests on the platform.Try and keep cool it would be dreadful if you had a power cut!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Those “bobs” grow up so fast. Glad to hear Glesni is getting a little “me” time. Well deserved! Wow, it’s crazy to think people are picking pics for next year’s calendar. We do have to keep up and think ahead, don’t we? Awwww, happy birthday to your mother in heaven. Yes, saw the pic of Boo’s minivan. Chuckled at the caption, something about the first step into “uncool!” lol No, I can’t imagine 3 dogs and a baby! I hope they have staff to help! It is beastly hot. I feel like a lobster in the pot. Do any little thing and you’re just drenched. Mopped my bathroom floor before I got into the shower and I’m totally drained now. And I have to work! SO unfair! Didn’t eat any doughnuts yesterday, but if I had I can guarantee they would have been cold! Best wishes to your rugby team! There was a fire in the river bottom last night, not terribly far from where I live. Lots of smoke in the sky last night. Things have improved this morning. Yes, we’re definitely still in a drought. Fingers crossed for Fair Eva (love that name!). Yes, I was sad to read of Zoe’s friend. I’m praying and will try to donate something toward those surgeries. Felix sounds very busy! I’m doing my best to keep cool. I don’t even want to think about a power outage. So far the AC at work has been working like a champ. We are listed as a cooling center, so we have lots of people coming in for that. I wish you a great day as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

So sorry to hear about Traveller’s surgery. I will keep her in my prayers that she heals quickly & goes home soon. I think it’s really neat that Barnaby is able to stay with her. What a great “horspital” you have there!

Dear Sue,
I’m so sorry to read about Traveller’s difficulties.

Dear Judy B.,
Thanks for this cute link. Those raccoons are smart — great little problem-solvers. The human species doesn’t have ALL the intelligence and ingenuity in the animal kingdom!
Bless all creatures great and small.

June 21 Cherokee Devotional

Dear Kathy,
Thank you for today’s wonderful devotional posting.

Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Those “bobs” grow up so fast. Kathy XOXO
