Happy Monday!
We thought we’d share some photos of spring’s special moments. The Mosses celebrated Mother’s Day with an incredibly sweet cake representing Zenyatta and her filly. The Easter filly, who now has a special foal tag inscribed with her nickname “Z Princess,” was recently reacquainted with her Easter Bunny and other birthday spoils. Alys sent us these photos.
Enjoy!

Dear Sheena,
I wrote back but now it’s gone!!! I’ll try again. Yes, we certainly need some of your rain. Glad to hear of Fubu’s good results. Marty was so cute all tucked in bed. I think he probably has it better than any other rat on the planet. Good to know Dolly Diva and Sissy are alright, Loved the prayer on RFay’s page. TGhat sounds just like our 3! Boo has posted about “naked Wednesday” many times. He has a very risque side! I love doves. So sad they’re slaughtered in Malta. Hope you have a great Friday and a very enjoyable weekend. Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy

Just now catching up on posts. Glad Mikey has Belmont mounts but can’t root for him this time. Go Chrome Go. Even nonracing folks in my small town are talking Chrome. I am carried back to that glorious feeling in 2009 when the Queen reigned supreme in the Breeders Cup. A combination of anxiety and exaltation. Great horse, great connections and really great feeling!

Agree. Reilly, hope you are feeling better. Same for Marshall as trips to the hospital at 2 am are tough going. Power up Reilly.

Champion Amazombie Retired
by Paulick Report Staff | 05.23.2014
Amazombie, the champion sprinter of 2011, has been retired from racing, the Daily Racing Form reports.
The 8-year-old gelding had not started since finishing ninth in the 2012 G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Last May, Amazombie was involved in a training mishap at Hollywood Park, when he nearly collided with a pony.
He returned to training last summer, but had various minor setbacks along the way. Trainer Bill Spawr, who co-owns Amazombie with Tom Sanford, said the decision was then made to retire him. Amazombie will be sent to Judd Morse’s farm in Southern California for his retirement.
“He’s been so good to us. I didn’t want to go any farther with him,” Spawr said. “He had quite a following. People still ask me about Amazombie.”

Heartwarming story of the little guy and Canada’s answer to Chromie, Paladin Bay, a filly with a lot of heart. She trains in snow!

A video of Palladin Bay winning the Selene at Woodbine. She is a very nice filly, and her peeps are so proud. Her blaze is like Z.
Love Woodbine because it’s been good to Danny. He holds the track record on turf and the race record in the Woodbine Mile. It’s a win and you are in to the Breeders Cup.

She is gorgeous. Thrilling!
Max
Ann NC. I read that Palladin Bay is referred to as “the horse that God loves” at Woodbine. She’s gentle in the barn and around people, especially kids. Will work for apples and mints. Then turns into a warrior on the track. Her owner is a Cree. Might be some magic at work in this story. Got to keep an eye on this filly.

God’s Solution for Life’s Problems
Look through the problem, not at the problem. Problems are the opportunities for God to show His power. The bigger the problem, the greater the revelation of God.
Surrender every negative to God’s eternal power. Set your heart, no matter what, to walk in the grace of God’s solution. God is patient with us. He is right even when we are puzzled. Rest assured that in the end, we will find Him faithful and good.
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

Dear Max.That was a lovely tale about Paladin Bay,wishing her much success.Have you seen the guy with the horse’s head on Moose’s twitter?.He said he will definitely be back!So that’s what he was up to on his holiday attacking ladies in Colorado!
Hovis didn’t need his coat this week,he should have been out naked with his ladies,it was pretty warm in his part of England, cooler now with the thundery rain.Dave, Nick nor Ed had a good day at the polls, have to see what happens on Sunday when the European results come out.Prince Charles has certainly upset the Russians ,gosh, he has much to learn before he becomes King.As you know Her Majesty has never put a foot wrong the same cannot be said for the rest of her family!Have a lovelyMemorial Day weekend.Free the Moose.PU Dan.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I read that story of Palladin Bay and fell in love with her. No Florida winter retreat for her. Training in a field of snow seems to have produced some good results.
Saw those comments by Moosie. Annie Power may not be interested in any visits with the mysterious chestnut, but I don’t understand this Colorado thing. Is it training at higher elevations? Lots of athletes go there for that reason, but haven’t heard that horses do. Moosie however is unlike other horses.
Looks like Diana might have been right about Chuck not being suited for “the top job.”
Is that blanket for Hovis intended to keep off flies?

In New York, horses often run in races for purse money only with no betting allowed on them. Sounds like a good idea for the Moose until he proves he can run without incident. But, let him run .

Dear Judy.Goodnight God bless you,LM PC HT Ruby Diamond Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties.Richard III is to be finally interred at Leicester Cathedral, high court decides today. Why not Westminster Abbey,I say,he was a King of England after all and Anne Neville is buried there.Love and hugs SheenaX
Max
Sheena. Don’t his “relatives” want a burial at York Minister? They lost in court but still could appeal. Both York and Westminster seem more connected to Richard III than Leicester. As I recall, his enemies dragged him there after he was killed.
Here some news for you. Friend of mine told me today that his great aunt recently died in England. She had no immediate family. She left most of her estate to horse rescue. Apparently we are talking many millions. UK horses will benefit from this wise lady. My friend was very pleased about this as he thought that it was the right thing to do.

Dear Max.That’s wonderful news for UK horses, they are in crisis over here especially since the recession.Such a kind lady.Yes,you are right about Richard his naked body was paraded, some say,in a handcart after the Battle of Bosworth.I heard a tomb is ready at Leicester and there have been complaints that it’s far too modern.A controversial figure in life and in death.Free The Moose PU Dan.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. I was happy to hear this news too of the good fortune of the UK horses. My friend was really pleased about it and knew that I would agree. That and Hovis started Friday off pretty well.
I looked up about your elections. Dave lost big time. Euro skeptics are again gaining strength. Being in Europe never really works well for the UK. They eat horses there. You need to stay in tight with your real allies. Dave may have to retrench too for the coming general elections, such as taking his holidays in Wales or Cornwall and forgetting about drinking coffee on the patio of some Euro cafe. Going to Ascot might help too.

Oh my gosh, was so surprised when I read this article on the Track Pony who led CC to the post in the Derby. It was Perfect Drift, one of my favorite boys. This son of Dynaformer ran 3rd in the 2002 Kentucky Derby and for the last five races of his career, was ridden by none other than Victor Espinoza (CC’s jockey). Love and Hugs, JB

It’s just so cool to see Perfect Drift doing so well in his new role. I remember when he was retired at first to his owner’s Kansas farm, but he must have been bored with farm life. If memory serves me, which it often does not, it seems like soon he was living at the Kentucky Derby Museum as their resident retiree, or something to that effect. He is such a cool guy, it looks like he has finally found what job he wanted to do. Love him!
Max
JudyB. Perfect Drift is a special son of Big D. He does a great job as a pony and looks very handsome. Glad that he has a new career that he likes. However I cannot see Big D allowing anyone to braid his mane let alone to put flowers and ribbons in it. LOL!

A zillion thanks to all Z’sters who have sent prayers and good wishes to Reilly and me. I will not name you for fear of leaving someone out, but all of you are the BEST!
I brought Reilly home last evening, and he was plum tuckered out — not too tired to eat a good supper, though. He now has three more meds to take, and I am getting good at hiding the pill in a cheese cube or a small chunk of chicken. He is definitely breathing much better. Went for a walk this evening — he seemed to enjoy sniffing, tagging and generally observing what was happening around us. We will just take it a day at a time, and each day is precious.
Love and Hugs to all!

Read a nice quote from Dale Romans concerning “Never Tell Lynda” He was expressing his condolenses for her loss to her trainer and connections.
He basically said that although we couldn’t bring her back.we could try and fix the things that are wrong. I so hope they do. So sorry we lost this beautiful girl.
May God have her with him now.
Terry Crow
There has been talk that Never Tell Lynda’s accident might have been caused by Churchill Downs playing loud music while the horses were in the starting gate. Anybody else hear this?
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Yes, and it wasn’t just music – there were ads for Churchill including a starting bell!! They think that’s what startled her.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Terry & Sandy
Yes its so sad because she was going over there to be schooled. She heard that bell and her trainer said she though she was to take off and she lunged and lost her balance and went over and hit her head.
Terry Crow
Peggy-Sorry I missed you original post on this. You were on track from the beginning. In my mind, Churchill has a lot to answer for.

May 24 Cherokee Devotional
A thick layer of doubt like fog across the hilltops, can shut out the light. Without light, we are depleted of energy and vitality-and eventually hope. An elderly Cherokee woman said, “It is true that the Cherokee suffered when their houses and gardens and very way of like were taken from them. We loved the land and trees and treated them as family. It was not the Great Holy Spirit that caused it. It was the a s ga na (wickedness) of the world.” It seems that no good time exists when we can despair. The Cherokees still dance-not pagan dances as the world once supposed-but to the Great Spirit in gratitude, the way David danced before the Lord. And it is high time we shout and clap our hands right in the face of trouble.
You have said to me…that I could send out a voice four times…and you could hear me. Today I send a voice for a people in despair.
