Happy Monday!
We thought we’d share some photos of spring’s special moments. The Mosses celebrated Mother’s Day with an incredibly sweet cake representing Zenyatta and her filly. The Easter filly, who now has a special foal tag inscribed with her nickname “Z Princess,” was recently reacquainted with her Easter Bunny and other birthday spoils. Alys sent us these photos.
Enjoy!

Dear Judy
Have you gotten to go see Charlie and the gang in the last few days. Give them hugs from me.
I have been wondering About Coz, too. I hope he is fine and I wonder if he will be going to John soon. He’s such a beautiful boy.
I sure hope Ebby is fine too. A guy I was talking to the other day was telling me he had some friends from Aiken S. Carolina and they knew the training facility there well. I though OMG, I believe that’s where Ebby was. I think Sheik Mohammed owns it now.

Dear all: As we remember our fallen heroes tomorrow and celebrate their lives. let us count our precious freedoms and name them one by one. If it were not for our brave heroes who serve, we would not have any of them. Love and hugs to all.
Giving thanks tonight for you, precious Z. who brought us together in friendship and love for you and your babies. They make us all proud. Love you always.

Noble rules for Warren Place
At the races 25 May 2014
Noble Mission gave Lady Cecil a poignant first Group One success as he continued his own remarkable transformation in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh.
It is almost a year ago that Lady Cecil took over the running of Warren Place in Newmarket after the death of her celebrated husband Sir Henry, who finished his career by training the equine giant Frankel.
It is only at the age of five that Frankel’s younger brother has started to emerge from his sibling’s shadow and he reaped the benefit of an aggressive ride from James Doyle, also successful in the colours of Khalid Abdullah on Kingman in Saturday’s Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas

a flag will now be raised at the yard to celebrate a Group One triumph for the team.

May 26 Cherokee Devotional
Does a child look at an older person and say, “I want to be just like you”? Non usually. More than likely they say to themselves that they hope they are doing better than what they see when they reach the same age. It is a fear thought. Time is getting away and this is what I fear I will be. We are one with other people, we need each other, but we are not all destined to be exactly alike. Common sense and individuality were put in us when we were created-not to be idle but to be used. Why give in to every negative suggestion when all we have to do is tell ourselves it is not, and never will be, acceptable. Tradition is strong in the Cherokee family. Old ones are thought wise and they are respected. But we are all individuals with different gifts that are enhanced by heritage.
We never made any trade. Part of the Indians gave up their lands; I never did. The earth is a part of my body, and I never gave up the earth.

Wise words from General George S Patton on Memorial day.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men and women who died, rather we should thank God such men and women lived.
Remembering all those both sides of the pond who gave their lives in the cause of freedom.God bless them all and grant them eternal peace.Hugs Sheena.

Happy Memorial Day to all, and special thanks to all our troops, and their wives and families……we love you.
I also want to share this poem I found and fell in love with:
LOOK BACK AT OUR STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM,
TRACE OUR PRESENT DAY’S STRENGTH TO THE SOURCE,
AND YOU WILL FIND THAT MAN’S PATHWAY TO GLORY,

We don’t always remember our animal soldiers, horses, and the brave WAR DOGS that have served…….RIP and God Bless them one and all. hugs

Interesting note about California Chrome. I heard today that he gets “No More Cookies”
(Molasses Cookies) Untill the Friday before the Belmont. Don’t know, I wonder if they are trying to just keep his weight right.
Up Oh, I just hope they don’t make him “Mad”
I wonder if they thought he was gaining weight. He looks great to me.
I don’t think I would change anything. Just too cute……………………………………
shirleeinindy
Peggy, I read on Bloodhorse.com that the assistant trainer said they thought he had gained weight since the Preakness. They had not weighted him, but measured his girth and it was 72″. Was 71″ prior to the Derby and Preakness. Seems he likes his feed.
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Shirlee, So i guess that’s why they are rationing the cookies to him.
Poor boy. Bet he’s not going to like that. Too cute.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
You’re so right, he does look great; not overweight at all. Maybe it’s a day before race day ritual they started with him. Too cute. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy, Yeah it is so cute about the Cookies. They had it on the screen on TVG and they were talking about it. They were saying they didn’t think they would change anything either. Too Cute.
I think he needs to get his cookies. But I know it will be a treat the day before. Yeah maybe a ritual. Beautiful Boy.
Terry Crow
Judy-I think you hit it on the head,. He knows that when he receives his cookies race day is not far away.

So good to come on this site and see all the quotes and wishes for our fighting men and women. It is a sad day in a way as I remember two uncles, WWII vets, who came home with PTSD which no one recognized at the time. Alcohol got them both. A sad end for such brave men who gave so much.

Dear Sheena:
Sadly the same was true in my family. Some of the returning veterans were never the same due to all they had experienced. Love and Hugs, JB

Oops: Shirlee meant the above post for you. Sorry.
Sally B. (Auntie cherishes Z and her young)
Hi Judy B, Trina, Kathy and other zsters, I had to leave to do work up North at a place which is my husbands dream. He understands how much I love caring for the horses at the Sanctuary, but this time he was on a schedule. We left right after my horse duties this past Tues. I spent more time with Sir knowing there was a good possibility this would be the last time there. Sir was so sweet. He lowered his head and I rubbed between his ears and kissed him several times and rubbed his jaw area too. I think he sensed something, so I told him to remember me as I will see him soon. My eyes filled and I turned and walked. I feel so selfish wanting this horse in my life. My mind was on Sir even up North so I called Liz on Sat. to find out if the Coggins results had come back etc. She said he was good to go so they were trailering tomorrow on Sunday. Sir is gone back to his original home and one day kept me from riding up along. Things had to get done up there and Jim could not cut our time up there short.
Read an email that the original owner, Becky, emailed Liz and Sir was out grazing with other horses. I am very happy for Sir to actually be with others and be back home.
It will be hard tomorrow morning when I do not see him though.
Then of all things, I am doing this outdoor work and a deer tick got on me and embedded itself. I asked a friend to look at this red area but she could not see anything like a tick. By Friday, it was still sore and after I purchased some antiseptic and used it I asked Jim what do you see? The tick kind of backed out and he said he thought he saw legs. So off I went to neighbor Sandy and sure enough a deer tick. She was able to remove it but by then it was over 48 hours. Went to an urgent clinic. I have 1 in 40 chance of getting Lymes disease and I must wait and look for a bulls eye or other symptoms before they will treat with antibiotics. Thank you Dr.
I will let you know if I am able to visit Sir.
Good to be back but I am sorry if I have missed your posts.
hugs, Sally B
Max
Sally. Look after yourself. I hope that all of this, particularly your health issues, work out positively. You were always wonderful to Sir, his champion. I’m sure that he carries your love in his heart.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Sally:
So glad to hear from you. So sorry that you were bitten by a Deer Tick. Hope everything goes well and without complications. Deb pulled a tick off of Charlie’s neck just the other day. That’s one of the scary things about the warm weather; ticks are out in full force.
I’m so happy that you had the opportunity to have time with Sir before he left and I hope you do get to visit him in his new home. Glad your back. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Sally, Take care of yourself and I hope everything turns out well. Maybe you will get to see Sir at his new home.

Can’t get enough photos of her. I try to see her and Ruby every time I visit Charlie and Hudson. She is very mischievous, I am told by her “Mom” Jackie. She told me Diamond doesn’t listen at all. It’s hysterical watching Angela and Jackie trying to corral her and lead her from the paddock to the barn. She doesn’t always follow her Ruby; she has a mind of her own. I just love her. Dear Sue Fredrick:
So happy that he spent his last years with Michael Blowen at Old Friends. Still, boggles the mind how he ended up in a kill pen (or how any horse ends up in a kill pen). He raced 47 times and earned $316,329. He was one of the lucky ones.
I love what MB said at the end of the article. “They call Clever Allemont a rescue, but it’s really the horses who rescue us”. That is so right. Love and Hugs, JB
