In last post you commented on Barrymore & Diaz, I always thought of Drew Barrymore as a fine actress, she was just the cutest in E.T., and in the one where she played the step-daughter in” Cinderella”, when she went to the ball, her performance was just hard-breaking. Even some of her more far-out stuff, she is really a fine actress. Also, I don’t know if people know that here, The Barrymores are actually an old Irish royal family, researching a friend’s Irish heritage which includes having his predecessors royal butts kicked by the Barrymores, I came across the ruins of boths their castles a long time ago. Interesting stuff.

Not sure can determine those questions as he has a very large winter coat right now
and their is distortion in the photgraphs as he is moving and the distance to the camera

Maybe a question to Lanes End – ask the Experts.
They did talk about his position in the herd on the last video, he gets along well, is fairly dominant – come to the gate first at feeding time. The first to eat is always the most dominant. His position in the herd will give one an idea of his potential racing style and
desire to be number one, which is what a winner always is.
Thank you so much for these wonderful pictures, Alys. They truly made my day. Z12 is so cute playing with his buddy and rolling around. It looks like he’s finally starting to grow into those ears of his. I don’t know who his buddy is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Curlin is his daddy. They both have that gorgeous red coat. And of course Zenyatta looks as regal and magnificent as ever. That picture of her looking at Donna with the apple in her mouth is just priceless. What I wouldn’t give to trade jobs with Donna and/or Alys for just one day!

Willis Horton’s Will Take Charge notched his first stakes victory Jan. 21 when he got the best of eight other 3-year-olds in the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park (VIDEO).
Trained by D. Wayne Lukas and ridden by Jon Court, Will Take Charge overcame the outside post 9 in the one-mile, short-stretch Smarty Jones. By Unbridled’s Song out of the multiple grade I-winning Dehere mare Take Charge Lady, Will Take Charge paid $26.20 to win in his first start at the Arkansas racetrack.

Left a comment about Donna’s “chaps” she is wearing in the photo on page 2.
What are your thoughts, you have more horses and varied experience
with them than I and perhaps some breeding experiend – equine or
bovine, should be similar.
SHERR recently got an older QH girl named Tessa. She is thin, and infested with worms. Her owner didn’t have money to take care of her, so rather than turn her over to a place like SHERR where she would live out the rest of her days peacefully, her owner allowed her to starve. Finally, as more and more negative attention was heaped on the previous owner, they finally gave up Tessa. Here is the story starting the day they found her.
Jan. 14th-
Please help SHERR save Tessa!
Tessa is about 20 – 25 years old and when Animal Cruelty Investigator had the owner sign the SHERR Surrender Form under the question – Reason for surrendering horse to Safe Haven Equine Rescue & Retirement the written answer is “ no longer ride or need her” how deplorable it that? So one would let a horse starve to death because she is no longer needed? Poor Tessa didn’t deserve to starve to death in a pasture.
Tessa is extremely emaciated, infested with worms and covered in lice. Cindy Hunter was kind enough to pick her up and take her to the vet. Tessa spent a night at the vet and now is with Cindy for the next two weeks then she will come to SHERR. We all ready have a vet bill for Tessa with more to come – she needs her teeth floated terribly, lixotonic ($110 per gallon), senior feed, beet pulp and other supplements. Donations for Tessa can be made on line via PayPal at http://www.sherrnc.com or US mailed to: SHERR 129 Asbill Ave, High Point, NC 27265
Jan.16th-
Tessa UPDATE: She is doing great. She is eating some of the finer hay as in the smaller thinner hay. She has eaten all her meals. Cindy has been putting warm water on it to help heat it up. She wants to go visit the other horses.
She had a more solid poop today not runny like it has been. She is eating 3lbs of feed per feeding and doing well. She got a second dose of probio to help with the loose stools. She may get bananas by the end of the week if the loose stools do not stop but it does appear to be slowing way down. Tessa will need some extensive dental work.
Jan. 18th-UPDATE Tessa is eating her meals good, she is still wanting to be with the other horses, but still in quarantine :( ….she is warm and loved!
Today: Update on Tessa. Tessa has had a ruff weekend. She has started showing serious signs of deterioration. Over the last two days she has been laying down quite a bit. We do want her to feel comfortable and loved enough to feel safe and lay down if she needs to rest. The concern is that she is having difficulty getting back to standing position. Sherr, her care givers and Tessa are asking for your prayers. We want her to become stronger but we also need the wisdom to help us over the next couple of days to possibly make a very difficult decision.
Tessa is a very sweet mare who is tired and is making every effort to make it back from the situation that we found her in. We want as emotional human beings for this to be another success story but we must also have the wisdom to help her and to do the right thing by her. If over the next couple of days we find that she can no longer fight or she has lost the will to fight then we will help her in crossing the rainbow bridge. We will keep everyone apprized of her situation. Thank you for your prayers threw this. Again we will keep everyone up to date as things progress.
Tessa is deteriorating. Please pray for her. Her time might be soon. I hope not, as she deserves better, but she might not make it. Poor old girl, to be treated this way in her golden years is just shameful. I don’t know what else to do, but pray. I know the Z community does a lot of rescue work, so I hope that you will keep her in your thoughts tonight, because she might be going to the big pasture soon.
So very sorry to hear of Tessa’s decline. Will keep her, you and all of SHERR in my prayers. All of you may be facing a very difficult time of decision. Love and Hugs, JB
12Z will get a name proior to making his first start. That’s all we know for sure.
It is the Mosses’ practice to have their foals in training for a while before naming them. According to David Ingordo, they generally wait until just before the horse leaves the training farm and goes to the trainer’s barn at the track. If they follow this practice, then 12Z won’t have an official name until spring 2014.

Rest Well,
Pati

I kind of like 12 Z.
There he goes 12 Z coming down the stretch with 12 Curlin, neck and neck
nose to nose. And the winner is 12 Z. (Guess we need Trevor Denman !!!)
GO GO GO GO 12 Z !!!!
