Sacre Sprinter still unbeaten over fences
Posted by: AAP Filled in: International Horse Racing | 27/1/2013 at 11:45am
Sprinter Sacre has shown once again why he is dubbed the ‘Frankel of the jumps’ as he completed a seventh win over fences with a majestic display in the Victor Chandler Chase at Cheltenham.
He dominates betting for the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March with 2-5 the best price available.
Not for the first time, Nicky Henderson’s superstar was electric at his fences, taking the lead on the run to the sixth last jump after Mad Moose had opened a sizeable early advantage on the field.

As we await the arrival of our new baby, it is good to think back on all the good things that have come from the diary, this blog and the forum. All because of a loving spirit named Zenyatta. I think that the good owners and trainers appreciate the interest shown for their horses and the not so good ones are somewhat worried that a Zenyatta Dumpling will be watching them. Hopefully, Zenyatta has made life better for many of her brothers and sisters. What a legacy.
So true. Our beautiful Z and her Z Team, LE Team and legions of fans have brought the beauty and intelligence of the horse into the main stream. Those two segments on Sixty Minutes prove just how beloved she is. She has made people aware, too, that horses need to be cared for after their racing careers are over. She is the horse of my lifetime. Hugs, JB

Just read in the Mail online, “Victoria Azarenka retains her win.
As she states she was having “rib pain” with each serve. Maybe a
rule change no time outs before opponents serve”.
Her challenger, Stephens, is a real up and coming so maybe
next year”.
Did not realize in women’s tennis this is common, taking time outs.
Of course we have Lance Armstrong which is another story !!!
Hope the fires are subsiding, and the smoke is clearing in time
for great racing.
Dear Sign: Azarenka is not flavour of the month with tennis fans down here – in fact a number of the tennis journalists were hoping she’d lose! The fires still go on – we’ve got to wait until autumn (fall) and hopefully really good soaking rain to put the filthy things out. Queensland is now getting the sort of drenching they don’t really want. But we had some wonderful rain here in Canberra overnight. So many thanks for all the prayers, those dancers of yours and of course to Sheena for pushing some of her wet stuff our way. Hugs KathyR.

Dear Max, very interesting. I hope they are not mistaken.

Trina. I think that this may be the racing newspaper which The Queen, the one in England, not Zenyatta, reads every day first thing at breakfast. It is somewhat unlikely that they would get this fact wrong and that it would go unchallenged by Coolmore if the reporter had indeed made an error. We will see shortly what happens with V. Best wishes to Z’s mom.
Max, thanks for this article. It’s dated November of last year, so if V was bred to Street Cry last Spring, she could be due around the same time as Z. How exciting. Hugs,JB

When I’ll Have Another powered his way into the national spotlight at Churchill Downs May 5, 2012, he also powered his way into my – and countless other – hearts. The Preakness cemented the deal.
Count me among those ‘wowed’ by the red-coated colt with the bright eyes and forward attitude. Adding to his story were his ever-amiable trainer and sometimes-cranky superstar stable pony.
Photographers are not always treated with respect and, no doubt, some trainers just consider us a necessary evil. Yet if Doug O’Neill felt that way last spring, he never showed it. He went above-and-beyond, being kind to those who reached out to him and trying to accommodate each request. http://www.drf.com/blogs/ill-have-another-photo-album

Dear Sheena: Very grateful for your rain – don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but Victoria didn’t get any – the fires down there will just keep on burning unfortunately. Jockey Dominguez is out of intensive care
The Associated Press – 1 hour 27 minutes ago Sat. January 26 2013
NEW YORK (AP) — Jockey Ramon Dominguez has made enough progress in the recovery from a fractured skull that he was transferred out of intensive care.
Dominguez was injured when his mount Convocation stumbled and fell in a race Jan. 18 at Aqueduct, pitching the rider onto the winterized inner track.
He was moved on Thursday from the neurological ICU at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center to a medical step-down unit, an intermediate location between the ICU and a regular inpatient room.
”Ramon’s doctors say he is recovering well, and we’re beginning to discuss his rehab options,” wife Sharon said in a statement. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jockey-dominguez-intensive-care-000055411–rah.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

I realize I have been incorrectly referring to Sacre as “she”. My apologies. He is, indeed, a very beautiful and talented boy. Hugs, JB

Dear Shirleeinindy:
Hugs, JB

Dear Shirleeinindy and Judy B,
So very true about Z, she is a Queen and is treated royally and lives
is a royal place. So happy that she is so happy.

Dear Shirleeinindy, Judy B and Sign: Absolutely agree with these comments. Zenyatta is the best! Hugs KathyR.

Dear Kathy R and Zenny fans,
Just read in the Mail online, “Victoria Azarenka retains her win.
Kathy R.

Dear Zenny Fans,
There is NOT any written published information regarding “V’s” being pregnant
at all this year and no mention of a sire if she is pregnant. THIS INFORMATION IS HEARSAY and Coolmore/ Darley respond by e-mail only TO those they do business with.

Dear Zenny Fans,
This photo of “V” looks so much like 12 Z. She is a gorgeous mare, no mention anywhere IN WRITING that she is in foal at all or who if there has been a mating
the stallion is.

Sign. You often post references from The Racing Post. They think that V is in foal to Street Cry. See below.

Dear Max, very interesting. I hope they are not mistaken.
Max

Indeed, Max! Best wishes to V either way.

Max, thanks for this article. It’s dated November of last year, so if V was bred to Street Cry last Spring, she could be due around the same time as Z. How exciting. Hugs,JB

I’ll Have Another – a photo album
By Barbara Livingston Daily Racing Form Blog 01/24/2013 11:27PM
When I’ll Have Another powered his way into the national spotlight at Churchill Downs May 5, 2012, he also powered his way into my – and countless other – hearts. The Preakness cemented the deal.
Count me among those ‘wowed’ by the red-coated colt with the bright eyes and forward attitude. Adding to his story were his ever-amiable trainer and sometimes-cranky superstar stable pony.
Photographers are not always treated with respect and, no doubt, some trainers just consider us a necessary evil. Yet if Doug O’Neill felt that way last spring, he never showed it. He went above-and-beyond, being kind to those who reached out to him and trying to accommodate each request.

dear kathy so glad you enjoyed the rain I sent it should have got there sooner guess it took the scenic route!!have just been watching a wonderful documentary about a real life crocodile dundee think he was called brolga lives in a shack in the middle of the australian bush raising orphaned kangaroos(he’s their mum)I had never seen a joey that small before looked like an alien one daisy is pretty badly injured now so have to wait until next episode to find out if she survives wondered if you’d heard of him hope the rain was a help to the livestock and the wildlife that have suffered so much with the heat and fires going to enjoy the tennis tomorrow hugs sheena
Kathy R.
Dear Sheena: Very grateful for your rain – don’t mean to sound ungrateful, but Victoria didn’t get any – the fires down there will just keep on burning unfortunately. Those joeys are pretty damn cute all right – love the way they are raised in pillowcases to substitute for a pouch. Good luck to your bloke Andy in the tennis! Hugs KathyR.

Dear Keta:
Just checked on IMLD’s pedigree. He’s a son of Lawyer Ron and Grandson of Langfuhr. Lawyer Ron Ran For The Roses in 2006 (the year Barbaro won).
This colt has 9 starts; 5 wins, 1 second and 1 third. Not too shabby.
Will be interesting to see how it goes if SB and IMLD face off again. Hugs, JB

Obviously I’m coming late to the game on this one, but why is Miracles of Life called the Feral Filly?
Kathy R.
Dear Especially horses: The term was coined by her trainer, because she can act a bit feral on occasions. Didn’t see any of that sort of behaviour on Saturday – she was just one together little lady in the parade ring. Cheers, KathyR.
