She looks empty, her eyes are vacant. I wonder if she is ok?
Patty Schumacher
“She looks empty, her eyes are vacant. I wonder if she is ok?” Probably the way the light is striking her eyes. Her ears are pricked and her body attitude looks good. She’s fine :)
lauraj_cincinnati
She’s fine. It’s the lighting–cloudy day.

@Marshall (NC broad)–thank you so much for the good wishes. It was a very nice day. But now, I’m careening toward 70. That sounds ancient! lol. Hugs.
Kathy
Dear Barbara,
Ya know, when we’re careening toward 80 we will think back to when we were 70 as being “spring chickens!” lol
Hugs, Kathy

AHEM!!!!!!

Dear Barbara W.,
You are not alone in that boat! I hit one of those mid-decade points this year so I, too, am racing toward the next speed limit number (and I mean Interstate Hwy speed limit)! Wow, things seem to be passing by in a blur, huh? Seems like only yesterday that 40 was scary.
Oh well, it’s an adventure, and we are still on the right side of the grass! YAY!!!
Glad you had a good day. Cheers!!
Love and Hugs

December 3 Cherokee Devotional
In our estimation, most other people are happy, some supremely happy. But are we thinking this because we are making comparisons? Are we asking how someone else can be so secure, so at ease, when we happen to know their unforgivable acts in the past. Envy and resentment of other people are weapons against us. They keep our eyes focused outside ourselves where nothing is ever quite the way it looks. We have no idea of what is going on in other lives, what their thoughts are and what they have resolved. There’s great contentment in minding our own business. We can correct what needs correction, make amends if we need to-but let the questioning go. We cannot know how good or how bankrupt another life is-but we can know what controls our own.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Dear Kathy.A wonderful devotional today. So sad to hear how that rescue took advantage of Judy and Mango’s generosity!!Thank God they are going to carry on their good works.Fubu visited the Doc and got a steroid injection,he is eating a little Kitty Gravy.I think the tumours must be spreading. He is such a brave kitty and it was Kimberly’s birthday too.Buddy and Boo are not too fond of the rain!Have you had any in your area? It’s a sunny, crisp day here.
I loved reading about Zoe’s visits she is a little angel spreads so much happiness around even in the saddest of circumstances.
I am so glad Butch had a happy end to his life such a wonderful Thanksgiving story so many of our 4 legged friends die unwanted and it always makes me so sad.Moose has tweeted he’s not certain to run on Saturday!!Come on Moose we need you!!Loved the mini Marty’s I didn’t know you got to baff in Heaben!!Have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.Is’nt our Snow Queen beautiful.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Sad story from Mango and Judy. They must be so upset, but that’s wonderful they will carry on their very worthy endeavors. Glad to read that Fubu is better. I’m always nervous when I go to check on him! We did get rain here. Possibility of more rain today, then the storm moves on tomorrow. You can’t help but be touched by Zoe’s therapy visits. She’s a little angel. That’s wonderful Butch had a happy end to his life. Bless him. As you say, every animal deserves a happy home and to be wanted. Anxiously awaiting Moose’s return. Still wonderful hearing from Marty. Missing him. Have a wonderful day. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Debbie S.
I hope Ann will visit Z soon. Mario and Steve spent to much time with her,it would be wonderful if they could visit also. Love you Zenyatta.
Marty R / Colorado
Zenyatta looks like she’s the trailblazer, looking for some grass to graze on or sunshine to bask in.
Has anyone else been watching the fans heart on the home page grow? It’s never just one or two a day, but double digit “likes”. She’s still the Queen and reigns supreme.

Just have to share this–pone of my favorite pieces of music set to Christmas lyrics.

There is just something special about young people singing serious songs.
Marty R / Colorado
I had similar thoughts to Terry’s as I was watching this. Thanks, Barbara for sharing.
Just an aside…The idea of turning 70 was pretty daunting to me, but when the day came this year and I didn’t feel any different than the day before, I just told myself It’s a milestone, embrace it. And you are right, birthdays are good.
pamhomeier
Agree Marty! But just can’t get that excited about them anymore!
shirleeinindy
Pam,
You are right. Seem like just another day. When I get bummed out about getting older my big sister just tells me “Consider the alternative!”
Barbara Wood
Love these comments. Makes me think at least I’m not the only “old lady” around. Too cute.
Celeste_in_TX
You are far from being the only old lady around here any way – in a short while I’m going to be getting much, much closer to that big 70. At least we’re still around – lol!
pamhomeier
Definitely not the only “old” one around! Racing (no, make that careening) for 71. Arghh!!!
Ingrid Arnone
Dear Barbara
Love it, thank you!
Hugs Ingrid.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful new photos of our Snow Queen!! She is beautiful whether she is covered in snow, mud or hay shavings and I’m just so happy she gets to be a horse and have such freedoms. I watched a video from Akindale Horse Rescue the other day showing Evening Attire and Tactitioner with another retired buddy, whose name is escaping me at the moment, and they were having such a great time making horse snow angels. As always, I feel so blessed to have this wonderful web site to keep in touch with Zenyatta and her family as well as all the other folks who love her as I do. Thank you, Team Z, Lane’s End. Thank you.

Lovely pics of THE QUEEN! She is a BEAUTY!

@max-sorry I have been so long in posting some horse jokes. Here are a few short ones to keep us going until I post my Christmas specials. Sandy-I promise I won’t include dogs barking out jingle bells. A horse walks into a bar. Several people got up and left as they spotted the potential problem with the situation. A man was hospitalized with six plastic horses stuck in his throat. The doctors concluded his condition was stable. NOTE–I modified this one slightly, taking into consideration the general characteristics of most of those who post here.
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Terry C.,
:-) Thanks for the funnies. Look forward to your Christmas specials!
Cheers and Hugs

Devastating decision made to euthanize Fast Bullet early today due to colic complications. We’re truly mourning the loss of this young sire.

BGG,
I was very fortunate that I was able to see Fast Bullet on my trip in October.
He had not been there too long and he was just taking everything in as he watched from his paddock.

Dual G1 winner Alpha perfect for NY
By Sid Fernando December 1st, 2014
Darley, like many large Kentucky-based stud farms, has satellites in regional breeding programs. In New York it’s Sequel Stallions, where Darley has now retired the multiple G1-winning Bernardini colt Alpha to stand his first season for $8,500 in 2015, alongside the Darley-owned Desert Party and Emcee, both at $7,500.

Wow! What a shot! Hard to believe that the horses make it up that incline and at the END of the race! Shergar looks amazing. No wonder Hovis claims him as “Dad.” Thanks BGG :-)

December 4 Cherokee Devotional
The land is quiet and serene along a country road in this season. Natural sounds, the crow, the rapping of the red-headed woodpecker, and the ring of an axe in the woods, carry easily over cold airwaves. Like voices with no accent, no soft edges, all are heard clearly at a distance. Even now, the land is colorful. Tufted grass, nature’s rose-colored silk, dances in the breeze. Evergreens break the tans and grays at the pond’s edge and dot the shadows along the timberline. The flowers may be gone but Indian mullein carpets the ground in secluded areas. Winter has a delightful beauty, red sunrises, magnificent sunsets and layers of blue, deep blue, and purple along the horizon. Quail, like school children in single file, cross the meadows to feed. Peace sounds no alarms, and all is well.
When winter comes on, you can take shelter in the woody bottoms…find meat for yourselves and cottonwood bark for your horses…it is the right place.

Thank you Team Z for the new photos of the Queen. She looks wonderful and looks (almost) fit enough to race. She doesn’t look sad or empty to me. Appears to be squinting her eyes against some possible wind in her face. As another poster mentioned she has assumed her usual role as leader. Always a special treat to see new photos of her.
Terry Crow
Rosemary-Good to see a post from you. It has been too long since we have had the benefit of your horsey knowledge.
Rosemary McCauley
Terry – thank you. I haven’t posted often lately but check in regularly to keep up with the Queen. It’s good to see you back as well. Happy Holidays to you and everyone on the site.

Our Queen and Her Court: Our Zenyatta is forever Alpha as she leads them to the best grass, refuge from the wind, sunshine, and mud!!!! She looks GREAT…Still hope to tell her all that and more in person one day.
Thank you Alys for your excellent photos: you have a real talent for capturing our Queen and her offspring. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Team Zenyatta, and Team Lane’s End for allowing us to continue to be a part of her life. Zenyatta truly embodies the Vox Populi, and the increase in her fan base shows that to be true.
Love to You All,

Dear Sheena,
Sorry your weather is cold and raw. Stay indoors and be warm and cozy. Fingers crossed we get to see Moose soon. Thank you for the heads up about all our FB furbabies.
