Happy Wednesday!
Alys took these great photos of Zenyatta playing in her paddock. We think she looks especially beautiful set against the snowy Lane’s End landscape.
Team Z and the staff at Lane’s End are getting ready for the arrival of this year’s foals. Accordingly, we’d like to invite the next round of questions for our “Ask The Experts” column. Questions related to the foaling process will be considered first, but all questions are welcome.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Edit: We have receieved so many great questions from all of you! Submissions are now closed for the time being. If you didn’t get a chance to ask your question, don’t worry, there will be more opportunities in the future.
Some of you have recently asked about the Zenyatta Shop. Our apologies, the Shop is closed at this time. If you have any outstanding orders or inquiries, please contact us by emailing info@zenyatta.com.

Oh these are absolutely beautiful – she is such a pretty, pretty girl. Thank you so much for sharing; I loved it and it made my evening. I am so glad she is enjoying life and can’t wait to see her new baby………………………..and her with it! She seems like a great Mom. Don’t you just wonder as she looks out with her ears up and runs along the fenceline what she remembers of her previous life as a rockstar? You gotta wonder…………………………..Have fun Zenyatta!

zenyatta is so beautiful. it’s great to see her so happy and healthy. she’s got a huge baby bump.. …. so hoping it is a girl this time, but it really doesn’t matter. it’s been a thrill to see her baby sister run races. i miss zenny racing so much, but to see her in this phase of her life, how can you not be happy for her. she made it, her last race was the best ever, and it’s on my bucket list to some day see her in person. hope that will happen. thanks for taking great care of her lanes end farm and for her wonderful owners, trainers, etc. you are the best. she will always be queen z to me, marsha r.

To me, there is a spiritual quality about Zenny that reached through the computer screen and just grabs you. I revisit this blog several times a day just to look at these pictures and marvel at the wonder of her.
I cannot imagine what it is like to see her every day. It must be close to heaven on earth for sure.

@Chris, I too really stared at her closely especially at her eyes and facial expressions. She seems to show a real awareness of her surroundings as she just stands quietly and just seems comtemplative. Perhaps the cool weather and snow brings on the familiar urge to strut a bit and feel that energy she felt as a racehorse. I love watching her. These pictures say a lot. She probably could have gone on to race another season but it was best to retire her with no injuries considering her age. The Mosses are the most caring owners. So thankful we are allowed to share in this stage of her life.

Dear Judy B.
Take care during the bad weather. You will be in my prayers. I’m so glad the horses are doing well and I thought GIGi would like those Stud Muffins. They are so cute and should be healthy for them.
What did you think about Quiet American being pensioned. He seemed like a pretty Happy horse to me when I saw him during the off breeding season. He will be in some good company and I think he’ll be happy. I hope he stays healthy and will be with us for a long time. I wish they would leave him in his same stall.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy N.:
Thank you for thinking of me. We’ll be fine; just got to wait it out and probably be without power for a while.
I think Quiet American will enjoy his retirement and I hope he has many happy years left too.
Yes, Angela started today getting things ready for the next few days. The horses will be going into their stalls until the storm is over. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Peggy N and Judy B,
Not able to find out reason for Quiet American’s pension. Looked on the Darley
site, which had the same article. Guess the reason will come out later. He has been such a wondeful sire and broodmare sire. Guess we will see AP and Quiet American’s on the track now through their broodmares. QA will still have some at the sales from 2010
and 2011?
Thanks for the updated e-mail Judy B on you and everyone (animals and humans). Next page posted today’s Noon update for Nemo. So glad I am not stranded in Baltimore, thanks for your updates earlier in the week.
Thoughts and prayers to you.

Judy, didn’t mean to leave out the horses. Hope they stay very safe during the bad weather as well.

Those eyes, those ears. What a way to start each morning looking a pictures of this beautiful mare. Thanks to the Mosses and Lanes End for all the news and photos of her and Z12.
Take Charge Indy is back to the races. Hope he does well in the Donn.

Dear Shirleeinindy,
Exciting Donn Handicap 2013 per HRTV Commentators:
Flatout – favorite – Bill Mott has him ready
Ultimate Eagle – maybe the speed
Graydar – lightly raced, maybe a contender, should go the distance
Fast Falcon – great run in the Clark.
My vote is for Take Charge Indy and Flatout
Hope Take Charge Indy has a good year as a 4 year old.

Dear Zenny Fans, Dumplings and All,
May the angels keep us til morning,
May they guide us through the night,
May they comfort all our sorrows,
May they help us in daily contacts,
May they keep watch on our souls,
May they show us better ways.
May they guard us while you’re sleeping.
May they see you through your days.
May they show us new hopes.
May they still our every doubt.
May they calm our every fear.
May they hear us when we shout.
May the angels keep you til morning
More than this we cannot pray.
And if the angels ever fail us.
Then may God be there that day.
Amen
HAVE A BLESSED AND WONDERFUL DAY

A lovely prayer. Authorship is claimed by a woman going by Larissa in the comments section at http://www.lovefraud.com/blog/2012/06/21/letters-to-lovefraud-can-you-help-a-woman-who-is-trying-to-hold-on/. God bless.

Dear Trina,
No link to yours.
God bless.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
No link? Do you mean “no connection”? It’s the same poem. Look again.
This is what Larissa posted:
“[My grandaughter] does need me. I am another side to her life. I teach her different things than what she gains at home (such as her horse competitions, etc.). I teach her about God and angels.
This is a prayer I made up years ago (especially for her) that I prayed with her since she was just 2 years old…I tickle her back as she drifts off to sleep this is the prayer with her…
‘May the angels keep us til morning, may they see us through the night…
May they comfort all our sorrows, and show us to the light….
May they keep watch on our souls, and show us better ways…
And guide us while we’re sleeping and see us through our days…
And if the angels are sleeping (this is where my granddaughter finishes the prayer) God or Jesus will be there that day!’ “

Dear Trina,
It is from this site, which Keta posted, and it is a combination of a number of sections from the prayers on this site; author is unknown.
http://www.angel-guide.com/angels-poems.html
Sorry for the confusion, now it is clear as to where my prayer originated.
Thanks so much, but no link to yours.
Trina, these prayers are mean for enjoyment, I am deeply
saddened that you are not enjoying them.
Have a blessed day.

Oh good, yours is from Keta’s site. They seem so similar to me. They are lovely.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
No need to be sad, Sign. I enjoy poems, as you know. Being interested in the authorship does not mean I don’t enjoy the poem–to the contrary. And I like to give credit where credit is due. If one posts a poem whose author is unknown, a simple “anon” at the end is appropriate. And who knows,
maybe someone will be able to say who the anonymous author is. That all adds to the enjoyment, doesn’t it? For instance, I find Larissa’s background story very moving. God bless her and you.

Everyday opening this blog entry makes me so happy to see
Zenyatta, gorgeous in the KY snow enjoying herself as she

Dear Sheena,
They are so very lovely. I have started a collection. They make one feel wonderful
and Zenny so reminds me of an angel as she skips over the snowy ground.
Zenny just has such a talent for as Mike Smith used to say: ” Being light on her
feet”. Jethro was very very heavy on his feet, everytime he landed it was with a
thud over a jump. The first time I jumped him, it was such a powerful and heavy
“thud” that I flew off. Had to get used to the balance with such power behind it.
Love those Zenny moves, just like and angel in the snow !!!!

Dear Sue Fredrick:
Just read your lovely post to me. Yes, PC can be a handful. This nipping seemed to happen since Gigi came to the farm. The first day Gigi was there and Angela was walking back and forth by PC’s stall tending to her, PC reached over and pulled Angela’s hat off. Holding his head high, Angela couldn’t reach it. He wants all her attention, I think. Gigi is 100% better now. Beautiful girl.
Thank you for your concern. We’ll get through the storm OK. Love and Hugs, JB

You hit the nail on the head. A hard run last few races, which includes stress,
a musculoskeletal injury along with a suppressed immune system, healing after surgery difficult and then pneumonia. She is asking for a rest.
