Happy Wednesday!
As you may know, we were in Kentucky last week visiting Zenyatta, 14Z, and Ziconic. We posted photos from Lane’s End on Instagram and Facebook throughout the week, and we were happy to see so many of you following!
It still felt like summer in Kentucky, and we arrived to a beautiful full moon. We brought lots of pears, carrots, and mints with us and spent time with the horses every morning and afternoon.
This trip was extra special because Jeanne, April, and Jackie from Mayberry Farm were in town for the yearling sale. They were thrilled to spend time with us at Lane’s End and to meet Ziconic and Z Princess for the first time. It won’t be long before Ziconic goes to their the farm in Ocala for training.
Scroll down to see more photos from our visit. One of our favorites is available in the shop today!
Today’s post is dedicated to Street Cry, who will live on through Zenyatta, her children, and champions around the world.
Enjoy!

For those in need of Dan news, here it is. He’s now the most interesting horse in the world. With the exception of Zenyatta, too true.

Dear Zenny:¥
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad, Street Cry. It is such a shame he passed on so young.
Blood Horse showed a nice video of him. Coz looks so much like him. The star on Coz’s face seems identical to that of Street Cry.
Team Z is right. Your dad will continue to live on through you and your family.
Very sad news.
Love and hugs.

I have looked back over these beautiful photos and they are comforting as we see how Street Cry lives on. Judy, thanks for the link to the 2002 Dubai World Cup, it was wonderful to see Street Cry race in all his glory.I watched it several times and also looked for all the info I could find on Street Cry between tears as I wanted to know him-there were so many compliments on who he was,not only what he accomplished. The video from Darley Australia of him (thanks Abbigail) is wonderful.
His son Street Sense spent 2013 in Japan and will be home (or is home) in 2014. Street Sense has also been shuttled to Australia five times to be part of two breeding seasons in one year. I do hope that Street Sense will remain in the U.S. now.
While Zenyatta possesses many of the physical attributes of her father it is her eyes that speak volumes of the rare spirit he was and the presence and character that was appreciated by all who knew him. Run free Street Cry.Always remembered.

These pictures are fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing them, Team Z. How is it possible that Zenyatta is more beautiful each time I look at her? And her babies are absolutely gorgeous. The picture with Z, Ann and the carrot is too cute! I’m heartbroken over Z’s daddy Street Cry. I saw him at Darley in June and he was so handsome. May he rest in peace..

There aren’t enough words in the English language to express how thankful I am for Team Z and Ann and Jerry Moss and everyone at Lane’s End who make these amazing and truly captivating photos possible!!! Thank you seems like an understatement to express how much these photos mean to me and I’m sure so many more of us who love Zenyatta like she was our own horse!!! She lives in all of us I think through her compassion and how open she is with all of her fans!!! I will never forget meeting her and Life Is Sweet last November. It was truly the best day of my life!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for these beautifully captured photos that show us how she is carrying on Street Cry’s legacy!!! <3 <3 <3

Dear Zenyatta family: A General update.
I had the first report on blood tests for my curly headed boy. All his organs are doing just fine, his red and white blood cells are in good order, and he has no Addison’s disease (which runs into his line via his Swedish grandfather). The vet believes it will be epilepsy, which as some of you have told me is relatively easy to treat, and the vet confirms this. So just have to wait another week for the last of the tests to be run. But he’s back to his usual bouncy self, and I’m going to be very positive. Many thanks on General’s behalf for all your prayers. Hugs KathyR.

Glad to hear that many “not good things” have been ruled out KathyR. Sending good thoughts westward for you and General. Hugs!

Dear Max,
Thank you for our Hovis update. Hovis, we heard here on the blog that you were lame again so we are all pulling for you. Whatever it takes to keep you healthy and able to enjoy your eventing and your beloved jumps. Best wishes, Hovis! TGIF! Enjoy the weekend everyone. Free the Moose, PU California Chrome!
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Hovis has certainly provided a few more details about how this latest bout with lameness happened. Hope he will be able to tolerate the possible disruption of his feathers if it comes to that. Power Up Hovis and Mum!!! Thanks as always to Sheena via Max for our Friday treat.

Dear Max:
Thank you once again for providing us with Hovis’ Diary. I am happy to see the the “Destroyer” has not lost his spark of fun and humor with comments like “a gazelle on steroids” and “Columbian Marching Powder”. Hope our boy feels better soon. He looks quite handsome in the photo; very manly! Love and Hugs, JB

Sheena. Glad for you as you seemed kind of upset about the future. Nothing to worry about. The US booted that Kingdom a long time ago and things have turned out pretty good.
Free the Moose! Beast, hear that you are improving. Snake, keep training. Dan, stay interesting.

Congratulations, Sheena! Rest easy now.

At least from a practical standpoint, this seems like the best outcome. I believe that my family peeps will be relieved too asheena.

September 19 Cherokee Devotional
We learn early in life that it is painful to love. Caring about anything is a great joy, but it makes us vulnerable to heartache, and our emotions are nearer the surface. Our feelings are mixed because we want to shout to the whole world that we love and it makes us feel wonderful. It makes us feel superior, able to cope with things that once got us down. Suddenly, everyone is a friend and no one is left out of our circle of love-a da ge yu di. Some part of us wants to hide what we feel so as not to shine too bright or be too enthusiastic. We need a little reserve of self so that we don’t deplete that part of us that generates life in us on a daily basis. But for whatever pain that may go along with caring-we would not give it up for anything.
Tell them how we loved all that was beautiful.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. Zenyatta is the Queen and her little Princess is just perfect. They seem so content and it is very heart warming to see these two. Of course I try to find everything I can about how Coz is doing and cannot wait to see him on the track. And Zi is one handsome boy. Zenny is just the greatest!
So sad to hear about Street Cry. What a legend he created in “our” Zenyatta.

Dear Kathy.Yes,I can rest easy now.I was up late watching some results. As long as the UK doesn’t break up in my lifetime I’ll be happy!Poor Hovis having his feathers shaved now he’ll know what ladies feel like shaving their legs.Maybe if Marty had been the leader of the “yes” campaign I’d have supported him he looked so cute in a kilt.Fubu was a naughty boy yesterday hiding under the bed instead of visiting his doc, bless him he must be tired of going to the vet so often.Lily is havng the most wonderful time in Heaven with Cheesus, getting a different crown to wear every day.It was raining in NM yesterday, poor Mango couldn’t go out on her swing.Mom seems to having a great time.Great video of a dog going onto the bed while owner was out loved the cat’s reaction!I wonder when they will scatter Joey’s ashes?I love they are keeping up with the community Mews!Saw your message on Zoe’s page!Have a wonderful day. Hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.
Max
Sheena. My advice for better nerves is to concentrate on the horses and give up reading about politics. If this Devo Max regime gets implemented, the UK may well cease to exist, and soon. The knives however are out already for Dave. Seems that you were right. Boris is among those leading the charge.
Free the Moose! BDS, eat your oats and grow strong.

@Max–thank you for the Hovis update. We know he will come through with flying colors. (No pun intended). Hope he is back to his old tricks soon.
@sheena– I am so happy for you, and relieved too. Now is the time to be united against the evils of the world.
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
I’m sure a lot of nerves can settle down now! Marty even weighed in. He couldn’t understand why Scotland wouldn’t want to succeed. lol Yes, poor Hovis. Men don’t shave their legs. lol Just stay healthy, Hovis. Whatever it takes. I’m sure Fubu hates going to the doctor so often. Poor little guy. He sure loves his lollipops. Lily is surely one of the most joyous angels in heaven. Bless her. Mango is such a precious little dog. I hope she can go outside today. Will look for that dog video. Sounds funny! It looks like they would scatter Joey’s ashes soon, doesn’t it? That’s good that they are keeping up with the community. Have a good day and a great weekend. Go California Chrome! Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.

Good morning Zen family:
Just a note to say that my son & I are off to London, England for a week tomorrow….so, I’ll be just around the corner Sheena!!!! I haven’t been back for 40 years but as it’s my son’s first visit, nothing HE wants to see has moved …. LOL! James (son) won a trip at his Xmas party last year and decided to use it to pay for our flight. How sweet is that, right? (I’m still amazed that he didn’t use it to go off to some exotic isle to chase women!!!) So this is going to be special — showing London to James. Too bad that Hovis can’t meet us for tea!!!!
Will be back Sept 29th, so love & hugs to all and kisses to my Big Girl
