Happy Wednesday!
As you may know, we were in Kentucky last week visiting Zenyatta, 14Z, and Ziconic. We posted photos from Lane’s End on Instagram and Facebook throughout the week, and we were happy to see so many of you following!
It still felt like summer in Kentucky, and we arrived to a beautiful full moon. We brought lots of pears, carrots, and mints with us and spent time with the horses every morning and afternoon.
This trip was extra special because Jeanne, April, and Jackie from Mayberry Farm were in town for the yearling sale. They were thrilled to spend time with us at Lane’s End and to meet Ziconic and Z Princess for the first time. It won’t be long before Ziconic goes to their the farm in Ocala for training.
Scroll down to see more photos from our visit. One of our favorites is available in the shop today!
Today’s post is dedicated to Street Cry, who will live on through Zenyatta, her children, and champions around the world.
Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the dozens of photos!!! So sorry about Street Cry.
News is the Early Kentucky Derby odds are out, and Cozmic One is one of a very few horses with odds in the double digits…most are triple digits. Coz is 60/1, also Jess’s Dream 60/1. Here is a link to review the early odds: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/horse-racing-blog/2014/09/15/wynn-las-vegas-opens-its-2015-kentucky-derby-future-odds/15688197/
Can’t wait for Coz’s debut….looks like he’s learning fast under John’s tutelage. Thank you Team Z for taking us on this exciting ride with you as we root for Z’s first in his journey. Of course, we all want so much for him to win everything in sight, while at the same time, we want him to be happy and safe and whatever he does on the track will be “enough”! God bless all! Hugs.

I just saw this on a horse rescue website and thought it was beautiful for Street Cry….
“Somewhere…
Somewhere in time’s own space,
There must be some sweet pastured place.
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow,
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen,
I know great horses live again.”
Barbara Wood
Thank you, Laurie. Beautiful. I think they all do. Hugs.

Both of you left us way too soon.
Happy, healthy retirement to Sea the Moon! So sad that you had to be retired when you had barely begun to race. Best Wishes and Good Health to you, STM!

ZPrincess is such a big girl already. She’s lovely. And Zi is gorgeous as well. I’m not forgetting our boy with John; CoZ is magnifico.
I’m so sorry Daddy Street Cry is gone. An amazing legacy for such a young stallion.
Love you always, Z. Thanks for the updates, Team Z.

Regarding Street Cry. Heard an interview with Andrew Bensley (Skysportsradio) and Henry Plumptre from Darley Australia. Henry said they had found the problem related to a radial nerve, but due to its location in the horse it’s very hard to treat. However, they had found a combination of antinflammatories and painkillers were helping him, but when they withdrew the medication his condition worsened. And they were becoming very concerned at the extra weight he was having to take on his good leg, and his hind legs. Henry did say that for the period of Street Cry’s illness his appetite and drinking habits remained the same – Henry said he had always enjoyed his food. He also said that the mood at Kelvinside was very very down, but the team was helped by the wonderful sons and daughters that Street Cry had left us. KathyR.

Absolutely beautiful photos! Thank you, as always, Team Zenyatta, for sharing them with us. They always warm the heart, especially on a day like this with Street Cry’s passing. May he rest in Peace. His legacy will live on and he will always be remembered as an amazing horse and amazing sire. He will forever be remembered as the sire of the Queen.

I’m.very sad over the death of Street Cry. He was an amazing horse and his legacy runs through the hoofs of his progeny. Zenyatta looks terific as well as does baby Z. Of course Ziconic looks amazing.. thank you for all the wonderful pictures. It lightens my day…!

Dear Z Fans:
With the closing of Suffolk Downs in Boston, all the horses have to be off the property by October 1st. Canter New England is looking for foster homes for them until permanent ones can be found. If you can help, please contact them. The website is:
http://www.canterne.org/foster.htm
Angela is going to be fostering four of them. They should be arriving at the farm next week. She is also taking a five year old Gelding called To Dubai (by E Dubai) to keep and train as a barrel racer for her daughter. She’s picking him up from Suffolk Downs tomorrow. Please pray that all of these beautiful horses find good, loving homes. There are so many of them that they’re giving them away. Thank you for caring. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank-You or all of the wonderful photos they all look so good as well as happy. The foals are growing up so fast. One can so easily tell these horses are all family.Zenny’s Blaze where it looks as though a piece of it is missing, is on Coz’s forehead and the Blaze on Ziconic is the same as Mom’s with that piece filled in, and Baby Girl Z has a Blaze identical to Mom;s. My heart goes out to Zenny and Family for the loss of Zenny’s Sire, Street Cry, he was such a brilliant Sire, and will be so missed. The Racing Industry lost large today. Sincere Condolences to all Connections

so so precious, means so much to know you continue to visit our “beloved”, and her babies are just pure “precious” moments of joy!

Thanks to Team Zenyatta for all the wonderful pictures. What a beautiful collection in order to compare the family! And what a super family it is! Loved the side-by-side of Princess and Queen grazing looks like Princess will be a match for head (including the ears) and neck. All look to have beautiful strong legs. It seems to me Zenyatta has and is doing Street Cry proud. Such a shame the world of Thoroughbreds has lost him at such a young age.

It seems to me Zenyatta has and is doing Street Cry proud. Such a shame the world of Thoroughbreds has lost him at such a young age. Even so he has established his place in racing history and in breeding.
Thank you also to those in the know who’ve posted more information. I appreciate every word. Some times I miss a lot with my limited connections.
Kathy
Thank you so much Team Z for these marvelous photographs! A wonderful treat to wake up to!

September 18 Cherokee Devotional
The biggest mountain is made of tiny grains of sand. The swiftest, deepest river consists of tiny drops of water, and in the swell of human existence, one of us is just as important as another. One little drop of water is as complete in itself as the whole u we yv (river) or the whole a me quo hi (sea). Even in the smallest way, we are just as complete and miraculous as any smart invention on earth. Many small parts make up the great, but each thing, each part, is infinitely important and necessary. We should never say we are not important. We are each essential, we have a definite purpose, and it is a sacred responsibility to develop and use what we have at hand.
I am not a child. I can think for myself. No man can think for me.

This is so beautiful! Horses are the most majestic animals. How precious it is to see the family of beautiful Z altogether. I wish her all the best in her life to come.
