Happy Wednesday!
Zenyatta and 13Z are settling into their summer routine. As you can see, Zenyatta spends her days grazing and rolling in the grass. Her colt is acclimating well to his new paddock mate. The boys can’t resist a nip & tug of the halter.
Also, at the end of this post, see a short clip Alys took of Zenyatta and her colt a few days after the birth.
Check back later in the week for updates to the Video and Photo sections along with new print additions to the Zenyatta Shop.
Enjoy!

The little guy has that “something” about him. I hope he stays this really pretty chestnut, but I am wondering if he will end up dark chestnut like Alydar, bright red like Secretariat or flaxen like so many from the Northern Dancer line. I guess we just have to wait!
Kyhorsegal
I suspect he’ll be gray like his sire…but hard to say right now!
AOak
Last time I saw Curlin, he was chestnut…
KSabo
Curlin isn’t the sire.
larry burndorf
he isn’t by Curlin…
SDF311
This guy is by Tapit.
nan
curlin is a great sire but not to either of zenyatta’s colts….bernadini sired
the first foal and tapit sired the latest….
DeniseC
Curlin is way too big for Zenny to be bred to.
Would probably have a foal too big and unbalanced to race.
Ingrid Arnone
Zenny not only you were a great racing horse, you are a great Mamma, everything from you it is so wonderful!
Z13 is looking so gorgeous!
Team Z, thank you so much for the photos and video.
Kisses, xoxoxoxo!
Love you!
Ingrid.

He is just the most handsome thing I have ever seen! He is just something wonderful to look at.
Kalar Walters
I totally agree! I keep coming back to this page to look at him! He has definitely got the “it” factor. :)
Sue Fredrick Happy as a lark
OMG, I finally got to kiss Zenny’s nose and she kissed me back. What a treat to see new pictures of the little red stinker, and Alys you take beautiful pictures. Thank you and please let the Mosses know how happy they make us when they share these pictures. I hope next time we can see the handsome COZ too, he must be getting so big. hugs
Sue/FlCPRC COZ I CAN 2015 ;-)
Do you think Coz was sent to school yet?
Abigail_1849
Hi Sue: I was wondering the same thing!
Sue/FlCPRC COZ I CAN 2015 ;-)
I wonder if he is here with me and my florida pals. Ocala like Zenny.
♥ Auntie Judy aka JAG / So. Calif. ♥
The last I heard he will be sent in September/October…
DeniseC
CoZ is not two yet until Jan 2014, that is when he will go to two year old
training sometime in 2014.

Such a treat to find these pictures and the video on the Blog this evening. They are living large and enjoying being celebrities. Glad he has a playmate and friend. Guess we will never find out who this one is either. Hope Coz still has his chestnut friend.
Will he perhaps stay red?
Cynthia H.
♥ This little guy makes my heart turn somersaults! Thank you, Team Z and Alys Emson, for your gift of smiles.
Sue/FlCPRC COZ I CAN 2015 ;-)
Love all the pics!
I think The Red Prince is going to be a gymnast.
I am giving him a 10 !
Kalar Walters
I agree with Terry McNamee. This lil guy has the ‘it’ factor. A beautiful, beautiful colt!! Z looks fabulous! I love her so!
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Hi all–
Just checking in from Columbia, MO. What a treat this is. My favorite is the one of Zenny lying on her back from rolling. Too cute. Love it all!
teri
Thank you so much for sharing these pictures and video. It puts warmth in my heart on not just the good days, but the bad days! love to you all!
Amy
That’s so cute! Thanks for sharing! I loved how Z goes right into the camera!

Wonderful photos — what promise your little man shows, Zenny!!!!! But I really love your cute pink dappled belly — that gave me a huge smile. Thanks to all on Team Zenyatta for the photos and video!!!!

Love the pictures and LOVE the dapples on Zenny’s coat! She looks perfectly radiant as a mama and the pics of 13Z are adorable…Love watching foals eating grass and figuring out those “Long Legs” ;-)
Amy
Are y’all planning another party for the Breeder’s Cup? We love meeting everyone each year!
Missy
Such a big powerful colt! He is adorable!!!
angie martinez
will he be as great as his mommy?
Delrene in Carlsbad, Ca
Thank you so much Team Z/ Moss’s, Lane’s End, Zenyatta and Z-13. What a great mid-week pick me up. You are so generous to share them with us. So thrilled they are both doing well. A fun summer is ahead for them.
Olivia
This handsome fellow is gonna shed off to be gray like his sire. :)
Zenyen
He’s going to stay a chestnut. Big beautiful golden red with distinctive chrome like his great, great, grandpappy.
Louise Castello
Yes, I hope, I hope!! Little Big Red!
DeniseC
Sorry I vote for grey, he is grey around the muzzel and legs. Those areas
are getting greyer. Will be able to tell by 3 to 4 months.
Tapit is a grey/roan (chestnut).
AmandaF
He will not be grey.
He will stay chestnut. Here is a perfect example posted by Pepper9873 previously on other post. He is shedding out darker like a liver chestnut but not grey.
“I’m still not convinced he will grey, especially if you compare him to his sister from She Be Wild.

The link to the She Be Wild/Tapit filly isn’t working here is the video.

There is an obvious difference in the shedding compared to Z13.
Nikki
Everyone seems so sure he is going to be grey or chestnut. Am I like the only person who is still very unsure?? LOL I lean towards chestnut, but I don’t buy that all horses grey at the same rate and show grey hairs around their eyes or muzzle after first shed. It’ll be interesting to see what happens either way.
Max
Zenyen. You, JudyB and I have been in the chestnut camp from basically day one. As you said much earlier, if he were a gray, Lane’s End with their experience and seeing him up close daily would say so. He’s exceptional in every way as befitting a son of the Queen.
Diana Stuart - Tapit's grey
Anybody know how long it took for Tapit to turn grey and what color he was as a foal? I can’t say I remember seeing photos of him as a wee one. I was hoping for a grey filly from the two of them, but this little guy is so spectacular, I’ll take him in ANY color!

Absolutely precious! What a nice surprise after a rather difficult day!
Is Zenyatta going to be bred again this year? If so, are you able to reveal who her new boyfriend may be?
I would also like for the Moss Family to consider a meet/greet with just a few people each year with Zenyatta. Perhaps asking for a donation to an equine charitable organization in return.
Blessings always,

Awesome pics! Little 13Z (or Tapdanzen, as I have taken to calling him) is so special! What a cutie. I agree with others – he seems to have the air of greatness about him. I sure hope so, anyway!
Kalar Walters
Oooh! Love the name!!
Shari Voltz from Ohio
Dear Lane’s End and Team Z I have 6 classes that will see the pictures and watch the video tomorrow during Computer Lab. Thank you for always educating my students. They enjoy seeing Zenyatta and Baby Z. They have learned so much this year about History and Horses. We are all so lucky that you share her, Cozmic One and Baby Z with the world. Love, Mrs. Voltz and homeroom 215-217 XXXOOO
Bobbie --- Elkhorn WI
Love that you share your love of horses with the kids. My 2 year old granddaughter was introduced to the Kentucky Derby in preschool this year and they made Derby hats out of paper plates! It was so much fun to share that with her. Good teachers get a big YAHOO from me.
Pam
13Z is getting lighter every time I see him. It could be the sun, but I think he’ll turn gray. I hope so. He’s a winner! And Mama Z is the best. Does anyone know if she has been bred again?
susy palacios
What is she wearing in her head?
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
It’s a fly mask. Some horses are irritated by flies that land on their faces, especially near the eyes. The mask is made of mesh and she can see through it just fine.
Kelly
Good Lord! He is BIG isn’t he? He is going to a be a big powerful mover when he grows up. Any word on Z’s next breeding?
janey boyd
Both look so healthy! Z’s dapples really glow. Z13 has such a beautiful structure to him.
I’m guessing he will be grey but time will tell. Thnx for the pics and video!!
Nancy/Tucson
What a picture perfect colt! Thanks for the new photos.

This is one simply beautiful colt and built so well! We all will so enjoy watching him grow this coming year.

What wonderful pictures of our Queen and 13Z. Has he been assigned a nickname yet? Thank you so much, Team Zenyatta, for sharing such wonderful pictures and video. I’m glad the blog has continued. And may I say, Zenyatta has wonderful snooter? The closeup in the video was priceless.
