Today’s post is dedicated to the memory of Tasty Temptation, who passed away in late 2013. Tasty was by Zenyatta’s side during her early days at Lane’s End Farm. They carried their foals together and shared a special bond. Tasty will always be remembered fondly by the Zenyatta community.
Further information about Tasty’s passing has been released by Lane’d End. Statement
Lane’s End has been very generous opening their doors to Zenyatta.com and her passionate fans. Their experts have shared with us the inner workings of the farm and granted unprecedented access to the breeding and foaling process. We ask that our fans respect the privacy of Lane’s End and the privately owned horses they care for. All information that Team Zenyatta and Lane’s End Farm wishes to release to the public will be available here or at Lanesend.com.

Dear, dear Team Z and Team Lane’s End:
I can only sincerely say thank you.
I’m sure I can say that all us here respect the policy of the farm and the owners. Tasty Temptation was Zenyatta’s pal and I, for one, couldn’t help wanting to know if the report of her death was true.
As I type through tears, run with the celestial herd Tasty Temptation.

This is just so sad. Tasty is deeply woven into my memory and my heart as Zenny’s BFF during the magical year of their first pregnancies. Tasty was a Canadian girl, too.
Team Z and LE: Thank you for sharing this sad news with us and for trusting our community to behave in a respectful fashion. We would never do otherwise.
VALE TASTY. I will miss you.
Silvy
This is so sad, Zenny must have missed Tasty very much. I bet she told her princess about her also, rest in peace Tasty.

Sheena. You are wise, my friend. I am profoundly saddened by this news. My condolences to all who knew Tasty first hand and who cared for Her. And to her many fans who have missed her for a long time and now are left to mourn her.
We as those who love horses know however that they have only one owner, and it is the One who created them. Horses are creatures of God. Tasty has gone home to her owner. He cares nothing for privacy, only for love.
RIP, Chocolate. You are like Big D to me. Never forgotten.

Dear Team Z, Lane’s End and Tasty’s owners and all her connections:
This is indeed very, very sad news. Tasty will always hold a place in our hearts for being such a good friend to Zenyatta. I am sure these two best barn friends must have really missed each other terribly when they were separated. She was a beautiful horse! Thank you Team Z and Lane’s End for informing us. We really appreciate it.
RIP Tasty! We will always remember you, and will keep you in our hearts forever.

Rest in Peace Tasty. It is always difficult to lose a young horse especially one who was Queen Z’s best friend. Thank you for the information and my sympathy to the owners, handlers and friends of this lovely mare.

So sad Tasty was one beautiful lady. Thoughts and prayers go out to her owners and Lanes End. Thanks for taking such good care of Zenny and her babies. On the positive side Zenny now has Life Is Sweet to keep her company.

Dear Lane’s End and Z’s Web Team:
Thank you for sharing this sad news on TT. It’s greatly appreciated. We loved her because she was beautiful and she loved Zenyatta. It’s ironic that she, her Unbridled’s Song foal and Unbridled’s Song all passed away in 2013 within months of each other. Rest In Peace Beautiful Grey Girl, Little Baby and Unbridled’s Song. Love and Hugs, JB

So very sorry to hear about the death of Tasty. She was so protective of Zenyatta even trying to keep John Shirreffs at bay when he visited. They were so striking running together — the gorgeous gray and the beautiful dark brown/bay.
Jeanie
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Tasty Temptation. She and Zenyatta made a striking pair, both beautiful, elegant mares waiting for their first foals. Her name was so intriguing and she was just lovely to look at. Rest in peace beautiful gray lady.

Dear Max.You have such a way with words something I can never hope to achieve.Tasty is with God now and all horses who have gone before.I know how much you loved her.I just cannot believe she’s been gone 8 months and we didn’t know. She will rest in peace always and look down on her friend in the paddock caring for her beautiful daughter.
Maybe you heard Pique Sous isn’t running tomorrow after all and Kingston Hill is doubtful for the Irish Derby.Toast is arriving at Belmont tomorrow.I’ll comment on Hovis later.Free the Moose!!PU Dan and all sick horses everywhere plus Nissy,Joey and Fubu (the cats)Sheena.

Max – I tried to contact you through the Forum, but it appears that my “message” attempt didn’t work. If you could contact ME (same user name), there is something that I wanted to share with you.

Sheena. I’m going to be gone from the blog for awhile. This news about Tasty’s passing has hit me very hard, and I will need some time to deal with it. It was love at first sight with this horse. There have been so many losses. In the meantime, you and everyone here take care of yourselves. We just never know what is around the corner. Keep watch over Moosie and the Beast for me. Reilly and Sir. Power up Danny, and all others who are sick.

So very sorry to learn that Tasty has passed. I can appreciate and respect your desire to keep her loss private. Thank you for sharing the information. She was such a beautiful girl! RIP and my heartfelt sorrow to all at Lane’s End and to Tasty’s connections.

This is such sad news. :( My condoleces to her owns, Lanes End and Team Z. It’s funny how I was just wondering about Tasty’s status the other day, and wondered if we’d ever be able to get an update on her.
It’s the right of the owner to want privacy, and I respect that. I just want to thank them and Lanes End for being willing to share this news when they didn’t have to.
Judy in South Carolina
This brings such sadness to my heart. We all will forever remember TT as Zenny’s best bud the first year of her retirement. I also vividly remember how we paced and fretted after Zenny had Coz because Tasty was overdue with HER foal.
I so appreciate finally getting confirmation from Lane’s End that Tasty did, indeed, pass away confirming internet rumors which are NEVER fun. I think that everyone connected with Tasty Temptation should smile that so many of us loved her and wanted to follow her in her retirement and honestly don’t understand why anyone would view it as any sort of privacy issue.
Maybe I am missing something? If one of us was rude or offensive to any member of Lane’s End then I apologize.
Run free beautiful Gray One. We will love you always.
shirleeinindy
Judy, Well said. I cannot think that any of the blog people would be rude to Lane’s End people. Persistent and stubborn yes.
It should comfort the owners of Tasty that she will not be forgotten but held in love and esteem by those of us who love and follow Zenyatta.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Thank you to Team Z for sharing this very sad news. Many of us hoped against hope that it wasn’t – couldn’t be – true when we first heard what had been posted on pedigree query.com. We knew that you would see the comments and respond appropriately and are grateful that Lane’s End released the statement today. Knowing is always better than conjecture no matter how sad the truth is. We know that she is with the other horse angels, including El Vino who was another one of Zenny’s best buds, across the Rainbow Bridge. As Judy B said above, we loved Tasty in part because she loved Zenyatta. She was a beautiful mare, an accomplished race horse, and a loyal friend. Our hearts go out to her connections and the folks at Lane’s End as well as to her fans – many of whom post here on a regular basis. Our Canadian friend, Brenda S, will be very sad to hear this news. She is having surgery today, but we just talked about this last night, and I will let her know as soon as it’s appropriate.

RIP beautiful Tasty we will never forget you. Thanks Lanes end for letting the fans know

That is very sad news. My deepest sympathy to Tasty’s connections. Tasty was special to many of us and she will be missed. Thank you for letting us know.

I TOTALLY understand why TT wanted their privacy but before and since. As far honoring privacy you got it from me. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. I hope she went quick and didn’t suffer. R.I.P. beautiful girl.
