Happy Monday!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! These photos from Alys show how Zenyatta enjoyed her holiday.
Now that the festivities are over, we have some updates in the works including additions to the shop (sneak peek: we’re launching a new line of greeting cards) and news about Cozmic One and Ziconic. Make sure you’re on our mailing list for early access and December promotions.
Enjoy!

Dear Terry –
So sorry to hear of the loss of your old friends. It must be so terrible to hear of this tragedy, and then to realize that they were only in this place that helped so many people. It is so awful that these terrorists attacked a location where people with disabilities have been supported. I had an old friend die in the the 9/11 WTC attacks, and every year the memorial service brings it back. May you feel everyone’s support and concern from your Zenyatta family.

Dear Judy,
Wonderful way to start the day – watching this so cut baby with no cares in the world!
Will try to keep him in my memory on the more challenging days. Another video image I’ve memory-stored is Zenny racing across the grass (and one of her in the snow) kicking up her heals and racing with herself . . . just for fun!). Aren’t we all the ‘blessed ones’ on this website?! Always look for your posts every morning – you’re always such a blessing to us all. Pray for you to have a wonderful day – as always.

Glad you enjoyed this video.
Elizabeth, that video of Z in December 2010 running in the snowy paddock at Lane’s End is one of my absolute favorites too. Thank you for your sweet words. God Bless.

Dear Tizgood, Wow! What a difficult choice – especially if all of the soon-to-be-bred ‘girls’ had to choose. Probably good that it’s all about ‘breeding’ – who would ever be able to make up their mind otherwise?! Thanks for posting – this was quite an overview. Hope you have a wonderful day. with love, Elizabeth

Tizgood,
Thanks for posting. Some of these guys I had never heard of. Good luck to all of them in the breeding shed.
Do think Honor Code and my sweet Lea looked the best in their pictures. Not that I am biased or anything.

Just did a true nicks of Zenyatta and the great Galileo – a true power couple A + foal.
The luck of the Irish and some Guiness be with her some day to visit this great
boy.
Tizgood
Based on the cross between Sadler’s Wells and Machiavellian – there is much more
to breeding a mare that True Nicks, though.
Maybe Dottie can do and Ask the Expert on Team Zenyatta selects her mates.
pamhomeier
Just curious. If they bred Zenyatta to Bernie with a D rating, why wouldn’t they take a chance with Pharoah and a C+ rating? Just seems Pharoah has a lot more to offer than Bernie. Just curious.
Tizgood
AP is unproven and not sure the Mosses would take their champion mare to someone unproven??; at this point no one even knows if AP is fertile.
As far as Bernie not sure anyone knew what the combination would work out to be; he was a proven sire at the time and “E” was gorgeous, and Zenyatta’s Dam was a proven black type producer. So the odds were very much in favor of a great product.
But as we are seeing breeding is a “crap” shoot – you roll the dice and sometimes you win and sometimes you don’t.
Tizgood
PS:
Zenny’s True Nick with Tapit is a C – and I am not sure Tapit’s True Nick’s are
paid attention to very much as most all of his progeny run – he is pretty much made of “gold”;The Galileo of the US, with War Front close behind.

A great loneliness falls on some people at this time of year. They feel the holidays are not for them-but for the happy people. But what they do not know is that the happy people could be like they, themselves, are if they would let it happen.
Everyone has something to handle, something that hurts down deep, but it would be wrong to give in to the spirit of loneliness or grief. This is something trying to steal our peace of mind and we are not going to let it happen.
When loneliness and melancholy knock on the door, take up the welcome mat and determine never to let them in again.
The white man is still troubled with primitive fears.

Paulickreport.com has an article about art by thoroughbreds helping retired horses. Of course the generous Mosses have a print by Zenyatta at the site. There are copies left if any of you are interested.
Tizgood
These moneighs are wonderful pieces of art work; Zenyatta’s original “paintings” were sold for $5000 to $8000; but Rerun did photographs of the originals and sold them for
$50. It is so much fun bidding for them on e-bay and the money goes for such a worthy cause.
Rerun is a great TB retraining organization and they have so very well-bred off the track retrained KY TB for sale.

Hi Zsters?
Today’s devo:
When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (Matthew 2:10–11)
God is not served by human hands as though he needed anything (Acts 17:25). The gifts of the magi are not given by way of assistance or need-meeting. It would dishonor a monarch if foreign visitors came with royal care-packages.
Nor are these gifts meant to be bribes. Deuteronomy 10:17 says that God takes no bribe. Well, what then do they mean? How are they worship?
The gifts are intensifiers of desire for Christ himself in much the same way that fasting is. When you give a gift to Christ like this, it’s a way of saying, “The joy that I pursue (verse 10!) is not the hope of getting rich with things from you. I have not come to you for your things, but for yourself. And this desire I now intensify and demonstrate by giving up things, in the hope of enjoying you more, not things. By giving to you what you do not need, and what I might enjoy, I am saying more earnestly and more authentically, ‘You are my treasure, not these things.’”
I think that’s what it means to worship God with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
May God take the truth of this text and waken in us a desire for Christ himself. May we say from the heart, “Lord Jesus, you are the Messiah, the King of Israel. All nations will come and bow down before you. God wields the world to see that you are worshiped. Therefore, whatever opposition I may find, I joyfully ascribe authority and dignity to you, and bring my gifts to say that you alone can satisfy my heart, not these.”

When peace is scattered, imagine a flock of gentle sheep and lambs feeding in sunny meadows. Their slow gentle gait across the slopes and among the grasses is so peaceful that the whole atmosphere is laced with serenity.
And then think what it is when a few goats get it with the sheep. Mischief begins. It is not the nature of goats to graze peacefully. They move among the sheep causing restlessness until the whole flock is ill at ease.
There are goats among us. They cry and nip and bite, they stir up activity that is not congenial, and it is a real job to separate the sheep from the goats. And more than this, we have to make sure we are not one of the goats.
Selfhood is ever calm and unshaken by the storms of existence.

Dear Kathy.I fear there are many goats in today’s modern society!Sunny day here and at Cheltenham woo-hoo!The long XC is on now 32 fences.Nina Carberry wins!!!Riding Josiesorders.A wonderful race earlier Aachen led all the way and just jumped for fun a peach of a ride from young Charlie Deutsch.Did you see the photo of Charlotte the police horse who died in Houston she spooked and got hit by a truck I think but it is the photo of the officer cradling her head as she died that is so touching.
Zoe had a great visit with Mr Paul and she got to wear her nurse’s uniform as well!Poor Mr Nutcracker lost his brave fight and went to toy Heaven!Mango’s getting a lot of cards and presents I hadn’t heard about Judy’s dad until I read your message.A sad time for them but Mango and her sissy’s will be a great comfort to her and Renay.I am sure Hovis would be happy if mum took a much longer holiday.Bless him he’s dreading the tinsel and antlers.Kathy Chisholm(of Tuxedo stan fame)isn’t well again and they feared they wouldn’t be able to do Stan’ sChristmas tree of hope but friends have stepped in to help. She looks very thin and tired.Did you see the ratties Christmas FB cover? So cute and poor Mr Fibbs in the mixing bowl!!Sarah is a genius.Have a wonderful Friday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
Yes, there are undoubtedly many goats among us. Glad you have wonderful races to enjoy. No, I hadn’t seen the photo of Charlotte. God bless the officer for giving her comfort as she died. Loved the story of Zoe’s visit with Mr. Paul. That one little dog and her Mommy do such important work. Bless them. Very sad that Judy lost her dad. I had the feeling he wouldn’t live very long back when we first heard about his stroke. Feel so bad for the family having to have a funeral so close to Christmas. My mother died on December 7th. I’ll never forget how surreal it was walking around with holiday shoppers all feeling so happy and I was struggling with such sadness. I’m sure the puppies are very comforting to Judy and Nay. Animals are so aware when we are sad and they’re so good at making things less painful. I hope Hovis is able to keep away from tinsel and antlers! How wonderful that friends stepped in to help out Kathy and Stan. The Lord always provides! The ratties’ Christmas cover is adorable and charming. Sarah is indeed a genius! TGIF and enjoy the weekend ahead. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Morning Zsters?
Today’s devo:
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. (Hebrews 2:14–15)
Hebrews 2:14–15 is worth more than two minutes in an Advent devotional. These verses connect the beginning and the end of Jesus’s earthly life. They make clear why he came. They would be great to use with an unbelieving friend or family member to take them step by step through your Christian view of Christmas. It might go something like this…
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood…”
The term “children” is taken from the previous verse and refers to the spiritual offspring of Christ, the Messiah (see Isaiah 8:18; 53:10). These are also the “children of God.” In other words, in sending Christ, God has the salvation of his “children” specially in view. It is true that “God so loved the world, that he sent [Jesus].” But it is also true that God was especially “gathering the children of God who are scattered abroad” (John 11:52). God’s design was to offer Christ to the world, and to effect the salvation of his “children” (see 1 Timothy 4:10). You may experience adoption by receiving Christ (John 1:12).
“…he himself likewise partook of the same things [flesh and blood]…”
Christ existed before the incarnation. He was spirit. He was the eternal Word. He was with God and was God (John 1:1; Colossians 2:9). But he took on flesh and blood and clothed his deity with humanity. He became fully man and remained fully God. It is a great mystery in many ways. But it is at the heart of our faith and is what the Bible teaches.
“…that through death…”
The reason he became man was to die. As God, he could not die for sinners. But as man he could. His aim was to die. Therefore he had to be born human. He was born to die. Good Friday is the reason for Christmas. This is what needs to be said today about the meaning of Christmas.
“…he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil…”
In dying, Christ de-fanged the devil. How? By covering all our sin. This means that Satan has no legitimate grounds to accuse us before God. “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect, it is God who justifies” (Romans 8:33) — on what grounds does he justify? Through the blood of Jesus (Romans 5:9).
Satan’s ultimate weapon against us is our own sin. If the death of Jesus takes it away, the chief weapon of the devil is taken out of his hand. He cannot make a case for our death penalty, because the Judge has acquitted us by the death of his Son!
“…and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”
So we are free from the fear of death. God has justified us. Satan cannot overturn that decree. And God means for our ultimate safety to have an immediate effect on our lives. He means for the happy ending to take away the slavery and fear of the Now.
If we do not need to fear our last and greatest enemy, death, then we do not need to fear anything. We can be free. Free for joy. Free for others.
What a great Christmas present from God to us! And from us to the world!

Those pictures are so peaceful. It struck me that my bay TB gelding Tiz A Knight and Zenyatta have similar coloring and white on their faces–not twins, but perhaps a resemblance. I wish they could be turnout buddies! They’d make a cute picture–the queen and her dorky, but handsome sidekick. :)
