Happy Wednesday!
We’re quite excited about the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration. Have you purchased your tickets yet?
Alys sent us a great new batch of photos of 12Z of the boys having fun, so we thought we’d share them with all of you.
Team Z is headed to Lane’s End, so we’ll be posting more photos and fun updates in the coming days. As of today, we’re also on Instagram! Follow us (@teamzenyatta) for updates throughout our trip. Even if you don’t use Instagram, you can see every photo we post through our Twitter feed. Our most recents tweets are always on the right side of the blog.
Enjoy!

Eveline – you are correct. Richard Hazelton is Scott’s father and the trainer of many, many good horses, including Zip Pocket and Wandering Herbie. Richard has been described by many as a trainer with few, if any peers. Held training title at Arlington many times.
Eveline – for your good sleuthing I would like to send you an award. If you send me your address, my email is cujofrib@juno.com. If you would rather not, completely understandable.

@Rosemary-That was a tough one. I actually came out all right in last week’s race as I had placed a bet on Data Link on Thursday. By the time I realized that he was a scratch, it was too late to change. My bet was then automatically transferred to the post time favorite, Wise Dan. Even when you know, you never know.
Rosemary McCauley - Pres/AZ/New Mexico RNC
It was kinda tough, but we have some very wise Z fans out there. I had no doubt somone would know. I left a post at the end of the guesses also, so everyone who guessed would see it there. If you made a guess on my trivia question, please go page 3 of this post to read.
Terry Crow GP
I had guessed Gary Stevens but I should have known it wouldn’t be that easy. Good one.

Are your pics of you gorgeous 12Z!! I need my Zenyatta fix also too!! I just adore your Mama; I love her more than I can express!! Auntie Sally
Hi Terry Crow, Judy Berube, Trinia, Barbara W. and many others!! I’LL BE BACK!
hugs

Terry Crow,
Same thing happened to me with Data Link, ha, ha. Well at least I’ve got something in the pot!!
I’m so excited to tell you I found a article called “REDNECK BOOK OF MANNERS”!!! Maybe we could adopt this as our “code of ethics” or something for the club!! I will try to post sections of this throughout the posts as I don’t want to hog up too much space. Here goes:
Redneck Book of Manners
1. Never take a beer to a job interview.
2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.
3. It’s considered poor taste to take a cooler to church.
4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.
5. Even if your’re certain that you are included in the will, it is still considered tacky to drive a U-haul to the funeral home.
Dining Out
1. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your fingers covering the label.
2. Avoid throwing bones and food scraps on the floor as the restaurant may not have dogs.
Entertaining In Your Home
1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.
2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table no matter how good his manners are.
Personal Hygiene
1, While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one’s OWN truck keys.
2. Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days. However, if you live alone, deodorant is a waste of good money.
3. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from a women’s jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.
Ha, ha. What do you think? I’ve saved “Dating outside the family”, “Weddings”, “Driving Etiquette” and “Two reasons why it is hard to solve a redneck murder” for a later post.
Darlene Daniels
Sue,
HILARIOUS!!! Definetly should be the handbook for our “code of ethics”
Thank you for sharing. Good laugh!

Where did you find this…toooo funny….code of ethics….
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Maybe you’ve found TC’s “source” (ha, ha). The format seems familiar, and these are very funny. Thanks Sue!

Terry
You are now the Mr.Manners of Rednecks!
That list is so funny
So, we have an anthem & now we have bylaws?
Hugs,
Keta
Terry Crow GP
Keta-i had nothing to do with compiling these lists. All “credit” should go to Sue.
Rosemary McCauley - Pres/AZ/New Mexico RNC
Sue – Finally, we now have a “code” to live by (or live up to). Very funny.
Terry Crow GP
Maybe live down to would be a better quote.
Rosemary McCauley - Pres/AZ/New Mexico RNC
You’re right, live down to is more appropriate. But I’m a RN, I don’t know up from down. What can I say?
Terry Crow GP
Sounds like you work in a redneck hospital.
Terry Crow GP
Sue-I’m not quite sure what to make of this. If you do these things, is it good? There are about 12 points here and I have already done (or violated) 10 of them
Terry Crow GP
Sally-Good to hear from you.
Debbie G/Kentucky
These are absolutely hilarious, Sue!
Eveline / Maryland.
Absolutely love these! Can’t wait to read the rest.

Sue,
These are priceless! Hilarious with a capital “H-I”! I look forward to the other helpful hints!
Thanks and take care!

From The Blood-Horse
Monarchos , the 2001 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner, returned home Saturday, Aug. 11, to Nuckols Farm near Midway, Ky. He had undergone colic surgery at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute near Lexington the evening of July 31.
Charles Nuckols III said the 14-year old stallion is “on a strict diet and we are carefully measuring his water intake. We built a pen around the back door of his stall and mowed the grass very low. This way he can enjoy the outdoors but not overdo it.”
Monarchos (Maria’s Mon—Regal Band, by Dixieland Band) has sired 15 stakes winners, including champion Informed Decision.

Updates on Paynter & Bodemeister
Jerry Bossert of NY Daily News tweeted today Monday August 13
Paynter will likely start next in the Sept. 22 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx
according to Zayat
Jay Privman of DRF
A. Zayat just tweeted what had long been assumed, that Paynter will not run in Travers.
He became quite ill following Haskell win
A.ZAYAT tweeted
When it comes to Bob Baffert. NO TRAVERS FOR PAYNTER.
Keta Note: There have been tweets saying Bodemeister is through racing. No official confirmation. Here is what is being said.
Jerry Bossert NY Daily News
@KeeneGal He (Zayat) just told me he took a big step backwards this week and had no idea when he’d return to the races
Keta
Here is a story about what was going on with Bodemeister
From July 16 NY Post Article
Kentucky Derby and Preakness runner-up Bodemeister will miss the $1 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth on July 29 after spiking a temperature, according to his trainer Bob Baffert.
The colt was found to have a fever at Baffert’s Santa Anita stable on Saturday and was treated with antibiotics.
“He had a temperature, and we had to start treating him,” Baffert said. ” It will set me back a couple of weeks.”
The medication will prevent Baffert from starting Bodemeister 15 days out from this past Saturday when the temperature was elevated.

Sue-Dogs are great and life would not be the same without them. I still miss my old hound. I can hear her howling as I type this.
Eveline / Maryland.
Happy birthday Angel! 10 is a nice age, hope you can celebrate many more.

CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS
THANK YOU EVERYONE! We helped Marlene rescue the 8 horses from the Nevada feedlot! You are all so generous and caring. Thank you thank you! She will be going up to get these dear horses soon and bring them back to Valley View Ranch in King City where they will each be assessed and provided any freshening before adoption.

Thank you so much for the link regarding the “peppermint pals”. I looked at ALL the pic’s and videos and read a lot of the letters! What a great idea to help children learn about horses and practice their writing skills! It was NEVER that exciting when I was in 5th grade!
Many thanks!

Thanks to all who contributed and thanks for the update, Jeanie!

Here are today’s redneck jokes. You might be a redneck if you are driving around in a car that seats eight are and everyone is riding in the front seat. You might be a redneck if you think bumper stickers are used to hold the bumper on your car. You might be a redneck if you call the family car the four wheeler. You might be a redneck if you give out catfish bait on Halloween. You might be a redneck of you drive a faucet into the ground near your house to make people think you have running water. You know you are at a redneck funeral when the undertaker refers to the hearse as the pace car.

Hi Everyone!!!!
Can anyone help me….. What happened to Tasty that they would need to find a “stepmom” for her foal? I know LE kept saying that they were waiting for her to foal, but I never heard what happened? (I now know that she foaled) . I know Zenyatta and Tasty were “bestie’s” and were due to foal around the same time. I feel bad for the Aussie’s with their beloved Typhoon Tracey, that must be heartbreaking to watch and know there is NOTHING they could do.I know I couldn’t due it!
If anyone knows what happened to Tasty, please let me know.
As usual much appreciation and thanks

hi girlsaratoga…
Tasty did not foal for 3-4 wks after Z
and she “rejected” her foal….just not into motherhood this yr
so…
LE got a nursemare whose own foal had died and introducted TT12 to his potential stepmom…
we did get a pic of Tasty with the mares they placed her with til next yr…
and we had a pic of TT12 and his stepmom…we were assured that they took
to each other well….
Rachel’s mom (Lotta Kim) also rejected her and RA was placed with a nursemare…
lotta kim has had 2 since RA and took to motherhood with her colt…who sadly had a
incurable disease and to her “full sister” to RA who is named Samantha Nicole
…
we keep hoping for updates on TT and TT12 and his stepmom…
GirlSaratoga
Carol in Utah:
Thank you so much for giving me the story on Tasty! I must have missed the story and pic’s, and I never knew about RA’s mom! WOW! I never heard of an animal rejecting their baby or babies, but how wonderful they find them step mom’s, especially if the step mom looses her own foal. What amazes me is that RA’s mother rejected motherhood, but then went on to accept and embrace motherhood with her 2 others! So in fact they are rejecting motherhood not their foals? I hope Tasty will try again and not reject motherhood, she will be missing the best part of life!
Thanks for the info, I was worried something had happened to her during birth.

Carol,
An update would be nice but honestly given the flack that Lane’s End has received, the nasty comments and the rest of it, I do not blame them for being reluctant to raise the subject again.
