Where did this heat come from? It was max 60F in Toronto today.

Could be very high humidity (checked and it was at 88% there); that might have an affect; especially if she was nervous before the race. Love and Hugs, JB

I agree. He and Victor just don’t seem to be a good match. Victor is too whip happy and that just seems to discourage Ziconic or make him angry. Perhaps a nice month or so back at the farm would benefit both he and Coz.

If they give coz a month or so at farm they will never get him back in the barn or be able to saddle him again. From what I hear he is a mean strong bad boy who should be gelded before is really hurts someone

Dear Judy.We had storms last night and the Live streaming went off at the Dyfi but all are well and 2 siblings from 2015 have returned to Manton Bay well one is still on the way been spotted in the Netherlands.A lovely win for Rubilinda same owner as Cunco.Hope you are having a good weekend. Difficult to get heatstroke at those temperatures. That’s cold. DRF reports that she had a very bad bleed from her nose, according to comments from the assistant trainer.

I left a post above after checking the humidity at the track. It was listed at 88%. Maybe that and the bleed threw her whole body off and she wasn’t able to cool down. I just hope she’s going to be OK. She’s listed in the entries as being on Lasix too. Maybe something else was happening with her body; poor baby. Love and Hugs, JB

If Catch had heat related issues, it wasn’t because it was hot and humid in Toronto. Woodbine is known to close down if there is heat and humidity that could affect the horses. There was a cool wind coming off Lake Ontario yesterday according to people who were there. The winning horse did not even break a sweat. There was something individually amiss with dear Catch, which made her fall and lie on the track. Thank God, she appears to be recovering.

Here’s ZI’s race replay. First time I’m seeing it. He seemed to have trouble at the break, but then VE moved him from the rail to the middle. He dropped back and then eventually moved back to the rail. I think he finished ninth out of twelve. Poor baby; keep trying beautiful boy. Love and Hugs, JB

I watched the race on TV and thought that Espinoza used too much whip. But, then again, he does on all the mounts I have watched him ride. I don’t think Ziconic likes the whip. If I owned horses I would not use him.
