We know you’ve all been waiting for more photos!
Team Z and Lane’s End are proud to share these images from the birth of Zenyatta’s second colt. Based on the response we’ve received, it seems that the world is as excited as we are.
We had a spectacular day on the farm, and we are saying our goodbyes for now. Mom and her little one are now relaxing, bonding, and spending some quiet time alone.
There are still more photos from this trip to come. We’ll post again soon with news about 13Z and his older brother!
Enjoy!

That is just cuteness on 4 legs. I hope he stays chestnut, can’t tell by the pictures. I wonder if he has any chrome………white on his legs. Can’t wait for more pics. The queen looks fabulous.
Debbie G/Kentucky (PUR)
Well said, Kathleen. Z13 is without a doubt cuteness on four legs. I hope we get to see a video soon of him taking his first steps. Zenyatta looks really good, too. She is just the best mom ever! <3

Dear Sheena:
Z does look great and happy. This little one is a real cutie just like his brother. Happy for Sir Henry; wish he felt better. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena and JudyB. Here’s the Racing Post story on Henry Cecil’s award. He’s a very modest, kind hearted person. His biography is to be published soon in the UK. That will be an interesting book. I hope that his health improves. I had heard that he was recovering and putting on weight. The flat season will soon be upon us. I wonder how that sister of Frankel is doing, and if she has been named? She should be 2 now.

Dear Max:
Very happy for Sir Henry Cecil. Hope he is feeling better.
Just check on Pedigree Query and the Kind filly by Oasis Dream born in 2011 is listed under the name Joyeuse. Pretty name. Here is her chart and appears she is as yet unraced. Hugs, JB

Max
JudyB. Joyeuse is French for Joyful. Kari B would love that name. Let us hope that she races well for the memory of our Kari.

Dear Max:
How fitting that name is for Kari B. May Kari B. watch over Joyeuse in her racing career. Hugs, JB

She truly is amazing! Not only was he born on her Birthday; but he is Beautiful!!
Dana
So glad that both of them are happy and healthy! The foal is so beautiful, my friends and I have been admiring and talking about him since he was born :)
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
I am so glad I clicked to here!! Thanks Keta for the link to the latest Instagram…… “perfect” pic of precious 12z and lovely Zenyatta!! 12z’s blaze is not that much bigger than Zenyatta’s, I don’t think. He could have a dot on his forehead and he’d still be so so beautiful!
hugs, Sally B

Such a nice article about Joel Rosario on BloodHorse today.
It said he had not really came back to earth yet after his win last weekend on Animal Kingdom I KNOW EXACKLY WHAT THEY MEAN, ME EITHER. …………………………………
Good Luck to you always Joel, Great Job.
Jamie
Do we have permission to give the lil guy a nic name for now….ZAP- IT?
Trina Nagele in So Cal --PUR
I would like to say yes, but Zap It has already been taken by another horse, unfortunately.
Lynn Martin
What a sweet little one! I am a bit partial about the color, its the same as the dogs I raise and show, Vizslas!
A question for those in the know. In some of the photos Zenyatta was in her usual halter. In some she had the nose chain and lead on. Is this to keep her from being too rough with the baby? Is that usual? Or was Zenyatta too full of “rough love” or maybe unsteady on her feet after delivery?
Allie in Texas
Lynn, somebody just asked that very question over at Winstar. The answer they gave was that many people need to check in on the foal and just in case Zenyatta would decide that she had about enough of that, then it would come in handy for control purposes.
Zenyen
To second what Allie has said, a lot of people were around this foal if you count those who were tending Zenyatta and the foal, as well as those taking pictures and of course the Mosses.
Zenyatta is a very loving, gracious mare but she is still a MOTHER with a newborn. AT 1300lbs If she decided enough was enough she could hurt someone so an ounce of precaution is all that we’re seeing.
Bobbie --- Elkhorn WI
Lynn–I love the chestnuts for the same reason–the color of my favorite breed of dog, the Vizsla.
I just read on Bloodhorse that Darley has purchased a share of AK and will be standing him in Kentucky during the northern hemisphere breeding season!!!!!
Peggy (N) South Georgia (PUR)
Zenny, Baby 13 Z. Can’t wait for a video. Hint Hint.
12Z hope we get another video of you soon too.
Lots O Love, Peggy

Or just ZAPIT.. This 12Z and 13Z lacks personality. I really liked Prince Z for the first colt.

Zenyatta’s second is magnificent! Hope she teaches him to prance!!! Thanks for letting us fans enjoy your special moments with you. I think her Grand-daddy would be proud of him and his chestnut coat!!! Thanks again Deedee Suthon
Carol Schwankl (from Minnesota)
Both look so beautiful. Am thinking the Chestnut color may come from Secretariat. Glad to see the delivery went well and both are doing well. Such an attentive mom and tall handsome colt. Thanks for the pictures.
Terri Zeitz
Carol, I was thinking the same thing; that Z13’s chestnut coat comes from his great great grandsire, Secretariat. And I think he has his confidence and independence. Even though he has that great big blaze, his personality and presence reminds me of Big Red.
Linda in NJ
Does anyone know if 13Z’s chestnut color could turn gray?

Steve Haskin congratulates Zenyatta’s timing of the birth of 13Z. At 11:47 p.m. on her birthday, “typical of her”, “she still knows where the wire is!” http://bcove.me/5z33vcjb
By the way, Zenyatta’s official Facebook page is now at 120,000+ and climbing as the news spreads far and wide. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/ZenyattaOfficial?fref=ts

Dear Keta,
Thanks for this great link! Steve H. always writes beautifully. What a great tribute to our boy, Animal Kingdom! He really is an outstanding horse.
Cheers and hugs

Too sweet, WeeZ I & WeeZ II are just too sweet. Secretariat had a pretty good size blaze, fitting the one on WeeZ II having Big Red in his bloodlines. Those silly ears, aren’t they just the flirtiest ever :) I’m so glad everything went well. Does anyone know how RA’s second little one is doing? I’m sure everything is fine, but it sure shows that not every delivery has to.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sunny B.:
Love that Wee Z I & Wee Z II. Don’t know if you’ve seen these photos of RA’s beautiful Bernie filly and her nurse mare. She’s a little doll. Hugs, JB

Looking good!!
So glad.

Why does just looking at pictures of the Queen and her babies bring so much joy to the world? If we could just bottle that and send it around the planet, what a better world it would be. Zenyatta, you are the BEST!!!!
sue and tony
We agree. Zenny always gives us such a “feel good moment”. These pictures are, to quote an often heard phrase, tonic for the soul.

Queen, your baby is toooooo cute! I’m glad everything went well. I can’t wait for more photos of the little prince!
