    October 8 Cherokee Devotional

    On rare occasions you may have felt a word drop into your heart that you knew meant something because it never faded and always stood as a reminder that something profound happened. You may not have understood then, but your mind has gone back to it numerous times wondering what it meant.
    Years can pass between an event and the understanding of it. It may be we have to grow up to it, or that our minds and spirits have to mature enough to see how it is to play out in our lives. It is little different from building a house-you can see the structure going up, but you know it can’t be used until it is finished. Sometimes ideas and visions need time to firm up before we can use them.

    The child was encouraged not to grow lazy and to grow straight like a sapling.

    Dear Kathy.Wonderful devotional.Looking forward to seeing some future champions today.It was good to here from Cheryl and know all went well with the chemo.I haven’t heard what happened with the storm in the US the news is concentrating on Haiti some 900 dead so far.Take a look at BBC sport video about Frankel he is worth £150 million now.As you know I always felt he belonged to me!!
    Good to hear bird brudder Jade has got the chance of a good home some people from the university Nay works at are visiting today.Fibbs was on location last night handing out doughnuts.He will make a brilliant President he puts people first!Heard about the old video with Trump.Have they all forgotten about Bill’s affairs??
    Mark Hookem has denied hitting Steven Woolfe and they emailed each other to forgive and forget.Nigel Farage is back as leader for the time being because Diane James only lasted about 18 days.Brutus the Morrison’s cat has a new human baby brother called James.She hasn’t been posting much lately.Colonel Meow’s owner has a new fluffy cat I cannot quite recall the name but puffin’ and pants are in it.It will soon be 3 years since we lost the Colonel.Zoe was so excited her cubs won!Max and Mia were well prepared for the storm with their coats on.I had to laugh about the chiken taken into custody for trying to cross the road.They always say truth is stranger than fiction.They have started constructing the Ceri hide all going well.Hope you have a great holiday weekend and celebrate Columbus finding all of you!Love and hugs to you,kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

      It’s very gratifying that Ray is doing so well. Praise be to God! Not many have died in the US from the storm. I heard of 4 in FL, that’s it. Wow! Frankel is amazing! I was really happy that Jade might go to someone they know. Hope that all works out. Fibbs has the right idea with the doughnuts. I’m thoroughly disgusted with our politics at the moment. That’s good Mark and Steven are forgiving and forgetting. I just hope Steven will be okay. Diane’s time as leader was incredibly short! I hope Brutus and James will get along really well.       Dear Sheena and Z Fans:

      Yes, multiple fatalities from hurricane Mathew in FL. So sad; RIP.

      Thanks Sheena for asking after Amanda and Hudson. Mr. Eric Horgan conducted the clinic today. I mistakenly thought he was a member of the US Olympic Equestrian Team. Here is an excerpt from his biography:

      Eric Horgan has over 20 years of world-class competitive and training experience, including multiple European, World Championship and Olympic events. A member of Ireland’s Olympic Three-Day Event team at Montreal in 1976, Eric as has competed at other major international three-day events including the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, 1992 Burghley International Three-Day Event and the world-renowned Badminton Horse Trials. He was the bronze medalist at the 1989 European Three-Day Event Champion-ships and is a two-time winner of the Punchestown (Ireland) International Three-Day Event.

      Amanda was nervous, but she and Hudson did very well. No refusals. Mr. Horgan was very pleasant, straight forward and humorous, at times, in his critiques. Amanda will adopt all of the suggestions he made. They will come in handy as she is in two classes at the Equine Affair in Springfield, Mass. in November. We’ll be going to root her on in her second class on Sunday, Nov. 13th.

      After the clinic I visited with Charlie. He was his sweet self and enjoyed his muffins, carrots and mints. Willow is doing well, but not much of a bump yet. Love and Hugs, JB

    What person does not hope for a spiritual experience that will connect him with the inevitable Source of all good? What person does not hope for a touch of the Divine to open his stony heart to understand his own potential?
    But what happens to our deep spiritual longing in the face of catastrophic world events? Many people will claim that that’s just the way the world is; there’s nothing we can do about it. But that negativity propels those people-and the world-further toward destruction. What can we do? It is our very personal responsibility to counter that negativity. Our deep spiritual longing reveals that we have tasted the spirit in our lives and we hunger for more. The world also hungers for a taste of the Spirit-and it is that which will keep us all from destruction. Let us draw on Spirit to guide us in sustaining all of creation.

    Could all Zenyatta’s friends spare a thought & a prayer for my wonderful sister. She lost her husband yes. morning after a 9 year battle with Pick’s Dementia. She cared for him by herself(with help from me & one of her sons only) He died here at our summer cottage, surrounded by the woods & the water in the place that we all loved. Thanks so much.

      More tough luck for Giggi after the break with Mullins. On the other hand, Mullins’ 3 year old Laws of Spin wins today on the flat against 19 other horses. Irish papers say that Mullins has already got his rivals in a spin even before the jumps season starts.

        • Laws of Spin was the last to qualify, but he won anyway. As Sheena said, this horse is not one of the Mullins’ big guns. It may however be that all of them are big. We’ll see.

        • JudyB. Something else interesting happened at the Curraugh yesterday. In the Staffordstown Stud Stakes, a filly trained by Dermot Weld bumped a Godolphin filly called Calare at the beginning of the race. Calare didn’t take kindly to this. On her way past, Calare tried to bite Queen Anne’s Lace. After the race, her jockey, James Doyle, said that biting is not such a bad thing in fillies. It shows that Calare has “fire in her belly.” Apparently, she is “full of character.” Further proof that the spirit of Big D lives on. Calare survived a steward’s inquiry of her snap and she won her race. Love these feisty filly types.

          We have our own “Big D” in Hudson. She will bite when you least expect it. Amanda’s dad was giving her treats and turned around to converse with someone and Hudson bit him on the shoulder. She’s a true “full of character” Diva. Love and Hugs, JB

    Welcome back sunshine!
    Today is a typical beautiful October day here in NC. Thank goodness “Matthew” has departed. We had more than 5 inches of rain during the course of Saturday. Areas of eastern and southeastern North Carolina got way more than that. Thankfully, our power stayed on, and there wasn’t too much damage around here.

    Bailey and Smudge stayed inside all yesterday. I began to worry that they would explode, but they refused to go take care of business! They must have great flexibility in their bladders and digestive systems since they managed perfectly — amazing! I think they were very relieved when the rain finally tapered off last night; after they ate, they fairly raced outside. I am in awe of them!

      You might be interested in this news. The Queen Elizabeth’s horse, Dartmouth, is entered in the Canadian International at Woodbine next weekend. He is trained by Stoute. Moore might be the jockey, although Ballydoyle also has an entry. That race was owned by Joshua Tree for several years. Three jockeys, three trainers, same horse, Joshua Tree.

    Dear Coz and Z Friends,
    Just a couple of days ago I was in pure heaven as I got to visit with my favorite horse in the whole world the beautiful Quiet American. I have been crying on and off since leaving as you just want to see them everyday and I had to come home.
    He was so sweet to me and the best part I got to give him a kiss. I got to see him get a bath and then follow him to his stall and visit some more. There are moments in your life that I think follow you thru all of time and this was one for me. Some moments take your breath away. I Thank the Good Lord for letting me know this great.
