    Dear Sheena,

    It feels like Monday today, but I know it’s Tuesday…really WEIRD! I saw your post with Kate in the blue. She looks stunning! She looked almost like a little kid in the flowery pink dress, but that was just the styling. I agree, people who bad-mouth her are just jealous. Poor little Zoe…the Cubs lost to the Giants. 6-5. I think I read that Zoe had banilla ice cream after her doctor appointment. That made everything all better! Yes, AZ is still hot. We are, too! It was in the 90s yesterday. I saw the pic of the Ceri Hide. Beautiful! The Crazy Clown fad is just a teenager thing, I guess. Seems like it is way out of control! We can only hope the animals show up in Las Vegas! I feel sorry for Mother Theresa having to deal with either candidate. Mr. Fibbs and brothers are as charming as ever. Good for Miss Dolly catching a mouse! Poor Sam! That gives me the willies about the possibility of losing your spleen. The money spent on some yearlings is just mind-boggling. I hope we find out soon what will be happening with Jade.     Hi Z’sters,

    This was on our mid-day news today. Big thanks to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s team for helping “Bob” get out of a bad situation. I sure hope someone gives him a good home soon. If only I lived on some acreage in the country!

    I checked on the Cumberland County Animal Control website, and they had this information about Bob. They estimate he is about 6 years old, and he is brown with white.
    Bob is ID#A201389. The adoption fee is $125. There is no information posted on how he came to be at the shelter, but he has been there since September 4th.

    I hope and pray Bob finds his forever home and will be loved. Perhaps “Matthew” will prove to be a godsend for this guy.

      Many trees blocking streets in our area.
      The Canadian Electric crews had horses statues on the fronts of their trucks, calling themselves the Calvary….coming to help! Many thanks to all crews helping NC to power up.

      Dear Ann,

      Wow! I just watched the video on your post. I had only seen a couple of photos. They had to negotiate even more water than I realized, and it was really fast-moving, too! The team was very good, and Bob seemed to know they were there to help. He was only a little hesitant when they got to the swiftly moving deep part, but he trusted them.
      Kudos to Bob’s rescuers! Bless them every one and Bob, too.

      Bob is a celebrity now since he made the news in Miami. Who wouldn’t want this handsome, brave boy?

    Bob is an impressive horse, to trust strangers and go through deep water almost up to his neck at one point. Good work from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s team. Bob,you are one courageous and calm horse, really hope you find a good home!

    Lots of horses coming over the pond to Woodbine,look forward to the races on Sunday.

    I noticed in the Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes (GII) results at Keeneland a name which I became attached to, W.B. Smudge. He finished 6th out of 7 — not his best day; however, he has won 4 races this year, placed 2nd and was 3rd in a few. He is a gelding who was bred in Kentucky: by Grand Reward(Storm Cat x Serena’s song) out of Beauty Is(Personal Flag x Ale Eight Woman). He is trained by Matt Kordenbrock and ridden by Julian Leparoux. W.B. Smudge did okay last year in non-stakes races.

    He won the Robert C. Byrd Memorial Stakes at Mountaineer in August, and I hope he will continue to do well and be sound. Please keep an eye on him since my dog, Smudge, shares his name, and we want him to be safe.

      Additional info on W. B. Smudge:

      WBS was ridden by Corey Lanerie in the Robert C. Byrd Memorial Stakes on August 6 at Mountaineer carrying the most weight. He was foaled in 2009 so he is a trooper — one of those gritty guys with heart and soul that Steve Haskin wrote about.

      Those of you on Facebook, W. B. Smudge has a Facebook page if you want to check it out. He is a nice looking horse – I wonder how he got his name.

      Note: He has 4 wins, 1 place, 1 show and 3 fourth place finishes this year. Not too bad.

        Yes, I agree. Two gritty guys who would enjoy reminiscing in retirement!
        Hope when the time comes, they both will be loved and cared for in nice homes.

        Hope you are doing okay after “Matthew” and that the Canadian Electric “Calvary” have gotten things up and running again.

    Get up out of the ashes-this is no time to give up. If you think you are a lost cause and nothing can help you, fight those thoughts. You haven’t even begun to see what changes can be made in your life.

If you need to make amends with someone, make them-but never let that martyr complex take over. Push regret, sorrow, and guilt aside, because they can destroy you. Make a “safe house” within your soul. Do not strike out in a destructive passion. And last but not least, ask the Spirit for relief, because when you ask in faith, you will receive-and you will know that you are never a lost cause.

    The purpose is to subdue the passions of the flesh and improve the spiritual self.

    Dear Kathy.I think I’ve been a lost cause for years now.I have asked forgiveness from some and tried to make amends but…I will never allow anything to destroy me though.Feels warmer today not quite in the 90’s though!I hadn’t noticed the new photos up with Boo.It would have been nicer to see them in the debate rather than the others!I hear Apple Jade who is know with Gordon Eliot is been trained with the Champion Hurdle in mind and Wicklow Brave is out in Australia for the Melbourne Cup.It will soon be a year since we lost the amazing Red Cadeaux.How often do the cubs play?Zoe was so excited they won and they had friends for dinner.Charlotte Dujardin is visiting LA on the 23rd of this month she is in Toronto this weekend.She found out on social media about a painting of Valegro and invited the lady to visit Blueberry was very interested.He will not be competing at Olympia it’s only a retirement ceremony.She was in Sweden last weekend.Henry Brooke hopes to be back in 6 weeks he wanted to see the video of the fall said he’d had far worse tumbles but the horse behind caused a “little damage”8 broken ribs a collapsed lung and induced coma.Sam will be allowed out of bed tomorrow and will have a little wander around the hospital.A of peeps said Queen Letizia used botox and fillers and she was anorexic.Such is the world of social media.She looks very chic to me.It’s 32 yrs today since the Brighton bomb.RIP all who were murdered and Lady Tebbit who continues to suffer.Have a good day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikkio and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

      Boo’s newest photo is beautiful as usual. Apple Jade…what a great name! Good luck with the Champion Hurdle training! Too bad, Wicklow Brave. Another day…Unbelievable that it’s a year coming up since the loss of Red Cadeaux. The rest of this month the Cubs are playing each Saturday and Sunday. Love the pics of Zoe in her jerseys. She is one adorable dog! That’s pretty cool that Charlotte will be in LA the 23rd. Should be a nice ceremony. RE Henry an the “little damage.” I would hate to see a lot of damage! I think Queen Letizia looks fabulous. She’s looks to be tiny normally. There are a lot who have to starve themselves to be thin, bit it is her natural state, I think. I agree…always very chic.     Once again finding myself waaay too far behind to catch up. I’ve read back several pages and know that it’s too late to comment on many of the posts, but I do want to extend my condolences to Sally B.
    Was in Lexington this past weekend visiting with our Debbie G and seeing the races at Keeneland. We had a great time and a new experience – by the time I decided to make the trip, the only tickets available for Saturday were seats in a cafe in the Sales Pavilion. Interesting. to stand there and see the big auditorium where the auctions take place. A power outage at the track and the airport made things even more interesting, but luckily things got back on track and the racing went on. We climbed the hill to the grandstand level a couple of times to see some of the horses in the paddock before the race. A horse that I have been following since the Ohio Derby three years ago, Jessica’s Star, was running on Saturday. It was great to see him up close and meet his trainer, Mike Stidham, who has patiently kept me updated for the past two years. He is a truly nice guy for sure.
    On Sunday, they had an autograph session with some of the jockeys. We got there at the last minute, but it was fun to have a picture taken with Joel Rosario!! :-) We were seated very far away from the first turn and were unaware that anything had happened to Miss Pink Diva until we realized that we could see only four horses on the TV screen. She walked onto the van, and we were so hopeful that she would be OK. Very sad to learn that she had to be euthanized.
    It was also fun to pick up a Songbird t-shirt directly from the Daily Racing Funnies folks (which I proudly wore on Saturday) and have dinner with them. They are both just amazing talents and SUPER nice people. Debbie is such a wonderful friend and Lexington hostess, and we all had a great time. It’s the human connections that make the drive to Lexington worthwhile – just wish I could do it more often.

        Ann in NC also likes him. DD runs out of Woodbine for Roger Attfield. It’s his home turf. Hope that he does well. Uncle Johnny often riders for Attfield. Also wonder if Da Big Hoss will race. There was talk that he would be there. Could be rain in Toronto this weekend.

        JudyB. Joel Rosario is riding with Danish Dynaformer. Looks like Da Big Hoss is not racing. William Buick is riding for The Queen Elizabeth. This is her first overseas race. She’s raced horses in Australia before, but they were in training there. This race is important for another reason. Secretariat won it in 1973. It was his last race, and it was a beauty.

    The classy grey chaser Al Ferof has been retired because of a leg injury.He will be nursed back to health by John Hales daughter Lisa before a decision is made about a 2nd career.Originally with Paul Nicholls he moved to Dan Skelton.I remember him beating none other than Cue Card and Sprinter Sacre in the Supreme Novices at the Festival in 2011.He will have a super life now John is one of the best owners I know.Hope this link works.

    Aidan has a 10 strong team for Ascot on Saturday including Arc heroine Found who will run in the Champion stakes and Minding who takes on Galileo Gold in the QEII,Arc 3rd Order of St George will run in the long distance (2m)
    Sir AP thinks there was a clash of personalities with Willie Mullins and Michael O’ Leary but he fully supports Willie and thinks he would never lose any sleep over the loss.

      Dear Debbie.John loved his grey horses the most famous being One Man in the 90’s.He sadly died at Aintree in 1998 and is buried on the farm.Another was Neptune Collonges who won the Grand National in 2012.He parades there on the big day.Al will have a great life.Hugs Sheena

    Dear Kathy.Such an uplifting devotional today.I have always tended to be pessimistic but my mum used to tell me anything was possible.Another sunny cold day here I hear there is another hurricane about called Nicole.Our Olympians are parading next week in Manchester and London Jessica Ennis-Hill has announced her retirement from the sport.
    Her Majesty has passed another milestone today by becoming the longest reigning monarch in the world when the death of King Bhumibol of Thailand was announced.
    I couldn’t access Mango yesterday Abby had told her she was prehistoric because she is 5!She had a wonderful birthday so many cards and gifts.I wish I knew how to use Fibbs photo as a profile pic.Hovi and Karen are doing this challenge in aid of cancer for Hannah the eventer who died just before Rio I have shared the link on my timeline it will involve stressage!!There are many programmes on to commemorate the Aberfan anniversary I watched one last night.All the children were buried together in a mass grave.It certainly brought back a lot of memories of that time.Town today so now I am getting to visit the furbabies.Ryan was named the world’s top jockey and Frankie in 2nd place Aidan the top trainer Coolmore top owners and Galileo the top sire a clean sweep.Our Welsh champion hurdle is on this Saturday had to be moved because February was too cold and wet.Is Ray having any more treatment this week?Hope you have a great day.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

    Hong Kong jockey Y.T. Cheng recently was suspended three months for failing to give his mount a full opportunity to win or get its best possible placing in a race. The race in question occurred on Sept. 18, when Master Gold finished fourth, beaten a neck for third in the Sha Tsui Handicap, when Cheng stood up just before the finish line after appearing to weave through traffic in the final furlong and while gaining ground on the leaders (and a loose horse, who had thrown his jockey at the start).

      Around the same time Y.T. Cheng was being suspended, stewards at the Los Alamitos Thoroughbred meet noted that jockey Kent Desormeaux was “up in the saddle” in a photo finish of the second race on Sept. 25.
      The Hall of Fame jockey was nosed out for third place on a filly named Peppermint Kitty, who battled on the lead throughout but tired in deep stretch for trainer Peter Miller and owner Altamira Racing Stable. Peppermint Kitty was the 1-2 favorite in the race, but someone clearly had made a sizable bet on the filly to show in the six-horse field: when she failed to hit the board the show prices told the story: the winner paid $8, $4.20, $9.20 across the board; the runner-up $9.80, $33; the third-place finisher $19.60.
