Happy Friday!
Alys recently spent some time with both Zenyatta and her colt. She sent us these photos of Zenyatta getting some attention in her stall and the yearlings enjoying winter weather out in the paddock.
We are also proud that Bloodhorse has named the birth of Zenyatta’s colt the most popular story of 2012. You can see the whole “2012 in Review” newsletter by clicking this link.

That post came from BACKSIDE 55 speaking as Eblouissante.
So, that is where the info came from.

Not everything posted is deadly serious and beyond a reasonable doubt.
Sometimes it is merely interesting or even funny.

Ok, I’ve read through the banter the last few pages. I don’t understand what you’re problem is, sign?? So what if a comment takes up space on a page?? Does it really matter that much to you and to call out Trina (of all people) and whoever else that other Judy person was. Get a grip. This Is Not Your Site! This is a Social Site committed to everything Zen! Please, get off of your high horse. As far I can see it: no one else is complaining!

Dear Heidi,
I am perceiving a misinterpretation on your part. There is no complaining here, just a fact that says things that are NOT true is an issue. Also just catching up.

How am I misinterpreting anything that you’ve stated? If someone “innocent,: not knowing” asks about a name for Z12, you jump all over their butts. If anything Medical comes up, you have to be the Know it All. Although, you are a supposed Nurse. Not in the Large Animal Practices. BTW. Well, I’m saying to you… This is my Profile on you. If you want to pick on anyone, try me but, please, leave Keta and Trina alone and everyone else that contribute to this site.

What are you rambling about here–you just cannot stop yourself from commenting and brandishing your know-it-all credentials. Stop. Enough. Lurk, don’t comment. If you are here for the right reasons, then just reading the joy of others should sustain you for awhile. It’s like you are obsessed with this place, and I’m not the only one to see it. I don’t hang out here, but i have taken much time tonight to read many back blogs and as far as I can see–even after an absence of a year or more–you are way out of line. A PSYCHOLOGIST’S OPINION: WHY PEOPLE ANNOUNCE THEY ARE LEAVING A
SOCIAL MEDIA SITE
“It is attention whoring on a massive scale. People do this all the time on Facebook, and then a billion people will comment on the status saying, “Ohhh noes, don’t leave! We love you!” but more often than not they end up keep ing their account anyway. “

Dear Keta,
Don’t see your name on any of the above, taking things personally they don’t have your name on them, can be problematic for relationships. There is a whole body
or “work” on social media and what is quoted is written by psychologists who
have studied it.
Please only make reference to comments addresses specifically to you as those
are the ones for you.
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca PUJ
Sign, I think you meant to address that comment to me, not Keta. Since, Keta hasn’t been responding to you. Yes, it is my business when you put your crap on here and keep re-posting over and over and over. It becomes Everyone’s business who visit this site. Doing the same thing that you were complaining about in the first place. If you want to bring Psychology into this, go ahead. I’m game.

Dear Heidi,
I personally don’t care how people post, it is all information.
Links used to be the norm, they take up less space. All of a sudden
Links were posted then the same full article posted, a little way to get attention. Acknowedging others is important, if someone does notblike the person who originally posted and repost so they can generate a thread, that is petty female stuff, too much estrogen.
signofthetimes; President of the Texas RN Club; RN philosopher
Dear Keta,
This is for you:
HOW NOT TO TAKE THINGS PERSONALLY, WHEN YOU ARE NOT ADDRESSED.
http://www.thebridgemaker.com/how-to-not-take-things-personally/
10 Ways to Not Take Things Personally
1. Have A Mantra Or Prayer I find that having a mantra or a prayer helps me to align or realign where I want my thoughts, feelings and actions to come from. One of my favorite affirmations comes from Louise Hay’s You Can Heal Your Life: “Harmony, Peace, Joy and Love surround me and dwell within me. I am safe and secure.” That says it all, doesn’t it?
2.Keep A Journal At the end of the day write down anything that’s bothering you and let them go. A great way to do this is using the “Judge Your Neighbor” worksheet by Byron Katie, here: http://www.thework.com/thework-jyn.php
3.Stop Looking For Praise Don Miguel Ruiz suggests not even taking compliments personally. If you believe the good then you’ll also believe the bad.
Love Yourself Be patient and loving with yourself. We can be our own worst critic, saying things to ourselves we’d never say to others. When we’re nicer to ourselves it will extend out to others and we’ll be more apt to not take things personally.
3. Hit Your Restart Button On a daily basis, try to schedule in whatever recharges your batteries. For some it may be meditation, a power nap, playing an instrument and for others it could be running or hitting a punching bag. Whatever it is, do it even if it’s only for 15 minutes. You’ll feel better.
4.Conserve Energy In The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra, the Law of Least Effort states “When your internal reference point is your spirit, when you are immune to criticism and unfearful of any challenge, you can harness the power of love, and use energy creatively for the experience of affluence and evolution.”
5. Extend Grace & Mercy We’ve all been the recipient of grace and mercy at one point or another. Why not pay it forward? You can also think of it as a deposit in the bank of good karma.
6. Change How You Listen The Landmark Forum talks about a concept called “Already Always Listening”. It refers to the filters each one of us have, due to our upbringing or past experiences, which affect how we listen to people and give meaning to what they say. Next time you have a conversation, instead of assuming that you know what the other person is saying or thinking of what you’re going to say next, be present and simply listen.
7. Stop When you’re in a conversation and you feel yourself becoming defensive, see it as a cue to stop and regroup. Look at it as an opportunity to learn and grow.
8.Take Care Of Yourself Last, but not least, be sure to get enough sleep, stay hydrated and eat mostly healthy, fresh food. Your body is your vehicle so take care of it. Not feeling well can easily have a negative effect on your outlook on life.
It all boils down to a choice. A choice we sometimes forget we have, but one that can either strengthen us or weaken us. Next time an opportunity arises to take something personally, which will you choose, fear or love?
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca PUJ
Why do you keep addressing Keta. I’m the one taking offense with you right now. So, come on, Sign. Bring on your ohhhhh so much Knowledge… I’ll wait.
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca PUJ
Sign, was that a post to yourself??
HeidiK Vallejo,Ca PUJ
No response? Yah, ok…
Signofthetimes
Dear Heidi,
Don’t take things personally, use withdrawl as attention getting move or assume things that are not addressed to me have to do with me.
Address was meant to be to Keta !!!

TIMEFORM CALCULATION AND MEANING – US USES BEYER FIGURES MORE
CONSISTENTLY, TIMEFORM IS USED MORE HEAVILY IN EUROPE
“According to the publishers, a Timeform rating represents “the merit of the horse expressed in pounds and is arrived at by careful examination of its running against other horses using a scale of weight for distance beaten which ranges from around 3 lb a length at five furlongs and 2 lb a length at a mile and a quarter to 1 lb a length at two miles”.
The Beyer Speed Figure used in the United States is similar to a Timeform rating. The popular rule of thumb for comparing these two numbers is to add 12–14 points to the Beyer score to estimate the Timeform number.
Timeform ratings for 3-year-olds & up are as follows:
140+ – An outstanding horse
130–135 – Above average Group 1 winner
125–129 – Average Group 1 winner
115–120 – Average Group 2 winner
110–115 – Average Group 3 winner
100–105 – Average listed race winner
Timeform states that 2-year-old averages are slightly lower.”

Dear Sign: This is part of what I remember the writer on the Sportsman (our racing newspaper) talking about – I must admit, I went into a complete fog of “I don’t think I’m every going to get what this is all about” on reading the piece (which is still somewhere in my files). Seems to me a lot of the TImeform stuff is just about encouraging more people to bet, or invest, whichever comes first. But we folk who admire and love the equine athletes just KNOW in our hearts who are the champions (and they are not necessarily those that win the most races!).
Signofthetimes
Dear Kathy R,
Timeform can be used for betting, not good at understanding that part of
Its use.I think the part posted above had the application to what was posted on
Juddmont site about Frankel. It is a really great mathematical calculation.
Not sure how Beyer is calculated.

The Rainbow Bridge has just been crossed by another wonderful equine athlete – Circle of Power a chestnut gelding, 5 years old, suffered a suspected heart attack in the last race at Rosehill today: Circle of Power was sired by Arena, his dam was Quest for Success, and he was a lovely fellow. Wow!
There is some serious negativity here for the past few days.
I hate to see this. I know I am relatively new posting, but have followed from Dottie’s Diary days. Enjoyed reading the posts and the input from everyone. Each of you contribute to the site in your own way. As another posted earlier, Zenyatta is the glue that holds this group together. Let us stop berating each other. I truly believe we all have great affection for every living creature on this earth. Words spoken or written have the power to hurt. Maybe it is time to put on our big girl panties and behave ourselves.
I will get off of my soap box now and move on.
My thoughts will remain with each and everyone of you
Hugs to All :)
Marty R / Colorado
Dear Janet,
Thank you, thank you. I have been so off put by this negativity lately, but I really have no tact, so I just keep lighting candles for everyone and praying this trend ends soon. I have always loved the “big girl panties” phrase and it fits perfectly here. Things have gone so far astray from the original intentions and atmosphere of this site that I fear we could lose it. Zenyatta Way is more than just a street sign.
Thanks again, Janet.

I cam to the blog this morning to see what’s going on among my friends. I am sorry to see that this blog has degenerated into name-calling and backbiting. We need to stop it already! If we do not police ourselves and show civility, we will surely be shut down. LE and Team Z. do not “owe” us this platform. (Remember, I’m the one who started WWIII long ago with that innocent statement.) What must new Dumplings think? It is an embarrassment, and I will not participate.
@Janet Newman and Marty R.–I agree with you completely.
And what happened to our promise to post links instead of verbatim columns? Many of us only have brief periods of time to visit and easily get bogged down and lost in all the wordiness.
RIP, dear Circle of Power. I think these continuous breakdowns, more than anything else, are pulling people away from racing. I realize it is not possible to eliminate it completely, as accidents do happen, but there must be some answers. I would love to see more breeding for stamina. Hugs to all.
Vicki B. near Hollywood Park
Hey, Barbara, I agree that things have degenerated lately, but realize it’s bound to happen periodically. But I wanted to comment on “And what happened to our promise to post links instead of verbatim columns? Many of us only have brief periods of time to visit and easily get bogged down and lost in all the wordiness.”
We didn’t seem to reach “promise” or agreement on that. Some people wrote that they like the words as well as the links, either because it takes them less time to read or ignore, or so that they don’t have to leave this page, and switch back and forth. Others wrote that they like it either way (short or long), and not to worry. So there wasn’t a consensus.
♥ Auntie Judy aka JAG ♥
@ Barbara I’m with YOU. Also, hopefully the Administrator for this ‘blog’ will step in and block Posters who are abusing it. It makes you wonder if that was the REASON Dottie stopped doing the blog/diary. :-(
This should be a Loving Tribute to Zenyatta (as it was intended to be). I just hope the negative postings don’t force Lands End to shut it down! People don’t think about that! I do. Think about no more pictures!! Sad!
Skip Ean
It is my contention that the dissonance is coming from a particular person who is acting immaturely and selfishly. My suggestion is ignore her or him and let’s get on with the joy of Zenyatta–the one horse in a million–the horse of the century. Let’s play again and make this garden grow again

This was posted earlier, it is a long read but very interesting and it is generating some interesting comments by readers. My comment is this: Do you all remember after Zenyatta’s last race how Mike mentioned that Zenyatta didn’t know there were two groups of horses in the race. How she only saw the first group of horses and concentrated on that group and by the time she realized there was another whole herd in front of that group it was “too late”. Hmmm, maybe there is something to this dynamic.
The herd dynamics and emotional conformation of Eblouissante:

Ok, I have my big girl panties on. :)
So, I wanted to share the latest on my Sister. I took her to the Doctors apt, left and an hour later picked her up and took her home, put her in bed, made sure she wasn’t alone (her daughter was home) before I left.
Prior to the appointment, I showed up early to spend sometime with her and, she looks horrible!! In so much pain. It made me want to cry for her. They took a biopsy of her upper GI track and won’t know the results for awhile. The nurse told me that it might be a bacterial infection and if it is, that would explain a lot. But, for her other ailments, they still don’t know except, it’s not her gall bladder. A few days ago, she noticed a huge lump on her back which is causing even more pain. You would think that after 6 years of different Doctors, they would have figured this out by now.
As painful as it is for me to see my Sister like this,( I couldn’t imagine the pain she’s going through.) I’m just happy that I was able to be there for her and I will continue to be..
I’m sad to say this but, my sis looks like she’s knocking on death’s door. Please, keep Joy in your thoughts and prayers.
PUJ!!!

While I was talking to her nurse as Joy was coming out of anestasia (sp?) , she grabbed her nurses arm and said: You just asked about insurance. Nurse: No. Joy: well, our horses have better insurance than we do! I had to turn away because, I was laughing so hard. The look the nurse gave me was funny. She asked if we had horses and I had to explain that we used to have a big ranch. I just thought it was cute and funny. It lightened things up for a few.
