Happy Wednesday! Here’s a brand new set of photos from Alys. Zenyatta’s War Front filly is pictured in many of these photos with her paddock mate, a colt out of Life is Sweet.
Love seeing these beauties together. Princess Z seems to be bigger than the life is sweet colt who is very beautiful himself. I love the black accents on Princess Z. She is going to be a real eye catcher. It is so nice that they can be together growing up because their mom’s were very good friends even during racing days. Will be looking forward to more pictures and more news about Cosmic one. These are going to be exciting times, thanks to Zenyatta who is still bringing on the excitement with her beautiful babies that are now growing up to almost racing time. I see so much of her in her off spring and that is fantastic. Zenyatta is very strong and willfull and her children will be the same. I call that WIN WIN WIN. Sending my love to all and thanks so much for keeping us informed
Shirlee, is this the photo of Jess’s Dream that you mentioned on the previous Blog Page? Look at the beautiful highlights in his tail. Handsome boy. Love and Hugs, JB
Judy,
Yes it is. If he takes after his mom and dad, a lot of horses are going to be looking at that tail. Can’t tell from the pictures if he has Rachel’s unusual eyes.
They are so cute! My husband thinks Life Is Sweet’s colt should be named Samurai Warrior because his markings remind him of a Kabuki girl, but he’s a boy, so… His markings are amazing! I love the white over his eyes. 14Z is beautiful, as always!
The white over his eyes is not a marking. He is going gray, and those are areas where his foal coat has shed out, showing the gray coat underneath. Many of Tapit;s offspring turn gray very quickly, and it appears that this colt is one of them. He may be almost white by the time he’s of racing age. Regrettably, that means that his striking blaze is going to be next-to-invisible.
Personal balance, says the Cherokee, is a matter of self-restraint, steadiness and consistency. We like to think we have some of each. We want to believe we know a good thing when we see it-and because we can see it we can possess it as well. Balance means living du yu go dv, squarely, or with truth. It means seeing that what we believe and what we talk about dictate what we get out of life. If we shortchange, we get shortchanged. If we whip and beat and scheme to get the better of someone, time will equalize it. No one really gets away with anything. We love to win, but if deceit comes in, so do all the factors of balance. A smokescreen blows away with the slightest change in pressure. We get what we give-good or bad.
Do not wrong or hate your neighbor; for it is not he that you wrong, you wrong yourself.

Zenyatta’s Princess Z is absolutely beautiful. She’s changed so much just in a month’s time. Life Is Sweet’s colt is a cutey too. Thanks for sharing pictures of Zenyatta and her dynasty.
Oh my Goodness!!! These photos are so adorable!! When Alys takes her camera to do some shots of these babies, I can only imagine the joy she must find in her job! She does such wonderful work!!! 14Z Princess is growing into such a beauty and her buddy is going to be quite a good looking colt, too. I think my favorite photo of this set is the one with our beautiful Queen trying to get a nice drink of water and how the princess so sweetly joins in under her neck to see what’s going on. Precious. Thank you so very much for sharing these photos and descriptions of their times with us. We are so fortunate to be part of this web-site/blog. Thank you!!

So glad the 2nd chick is here! Worried sick about Fubu. Doesn’t look at all good. Got a chuckle out of the first Buddy Fact…King Buddy, rules everyone. Too cute! Joey was having a great massage. Check out the cute video of My Miss Kitty Face rolling around on the sidewalk. It’s incredible to think about how old our loved ones who are now gone would have been. Happy Birthday to your mom in heaven on the 21st, also Happy Birthday to adorable Buddy. Have a wonderful Friday Eve! Hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! Such a nice way to start the day, with an update from Zenny-land! Appreciate everything you all do to let Z continue to be a part of our lives. Hugs to all!!!
Happy birthday to the lovely, kind and eloquent Cynthia Holt!
Two years ago, Cynthia requested a poem for Anne Frank, who shares her birthday, instead of a poem for herself. Here it is again in Cynthia’s honor.
A Poem of Commemoration for Anne Frank
(June 12, 1929 – early March 1945)
Anne at birth
Lived in a tranquil Frankfurt,
But early in ’33
Her family did see
Darkest evil
Begin to spread
Throughout their native Germany.
Her parents were starkly aware
Of impending hurt
And upheaval,
So when she was just four
She with her mother and sister fled
To the land next door
Where her dad had gone on ahead
Just months before
A new home for them to prepare.
In Amsterdam she a normal life led
Free from great dread
Till the Netherlands to German occupation fell
And restrictions on Jews were imposed.
Then for her family came a death knell
As the evil knocked on their door:
To her sister a notice was sent
That she was supposed
Herself to present
For deportation.
With no hesitation
The family chose
Together into hiding to go
In secret quarters filling
The hinter part
Of an old business building.
There they did start
A sequestered existence.
Only a very few,
Who trusted employees
Had been,
Knew
Of their presence.
Never again
Could the Franks be at their ease.
On these trusted few they relied
Them
To provide
With food to eat
While they had to hide.
No one knew
If they would succeed
With their feat
Of deception,
Nor for how long
They would have to escape detection.
Anne with her took
The little diary book
She’d just received
As a thirteenth birthday present,
And recorded therein
Her daily reflections
As this life of hiding did begin,
And she the pages did fill
With her joys and her fears
For just over two years
As in hiding she the Nazis deceived
And their death camps evaded.
She longed a writer to be
And felt elated
When in words she her thoughts dressed.
Sage
Far beyond her age,
She the importance of giving
Stressed:
“You can always, always give something,
Even if it’s only kindness!”
Her writing skill she felt was a true blessing:
“I want to go on living
Even after my death!
And therefore I am grateful
To God for this gift,
This possibility
Of … writing,
Of expressing
All that is in me.”
She in all honesty to her diary confessed
What she saw as her own failings
And at times resorted to railing
When bearing the unbearable load
Led her to explode.
In writing did she her soul free
From the chains of her captivity.
In the darkness of those days and nights,
She wrote, and I quote:
“I can shake off everything if I write;
My sorrows disappear;
My courage is reborn.”
Though from us she was cruelly torn,
Today we still her words hear.
She her moral principles maintained;
Her spirit remained
Unblighted.
Today we thank
Anne Frank,
Who in quarters cramped and dank
While the outside world into darkness sank,
Lit her candle of faith
In the inherent goodness of man
And God
To fight against the evil wraith
And his brown-shirted clan
Who then the earth trod.
Her name, message and fame
With us remain,
For to highest acclaim,
Far beyond her imagination,
She did realize that aspiration
To live on in her words after death.
Her diary takes away our breath
And will continue to give inspiration
In the world’s every nation
For generation
Upon generation.
Trina-This is truly an epic. You can always give something–even if its only kindness. Words to live by. Not only describes the subject, but you too. Best of birthdays to our friend Cynthia, who does not post here often enough.
Dear Trina,
Thank you for posting this lovely tribute to Anne Frank as requested for Cynthia. You are so talented and give us so much.
Terry, you are quite right about the words to live by. Kindness abounds here with our Zenyatta!
Happy Birthday to Cynthia and to Anne Frank who will live on due to her inspired writing.
Hugs
I am running so far behind, I think I have a fair idea how Sham felt chasing Secretariat in the Belmont. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for re-posting your beautiful elegy to Anne Frank. There is no greater gift for which I could ask. I pray her candle of hope will never be extinguished. ♥
Thank you one and all for your good wishes. They are very, very, very much appreciated! ♥
Happy birthday, Pati Szpyra! Your poem from a year ago is out of date, so here is a little ditty instead.
I’m coming your way
With a high hoof and a neigh
Birthday wishes to convey.
I hope you have a marvelous day,
And I pray
That for you everything may
Throughout the whole year stay
Exactly that way.
Just a thank you for allowing us the access to these stories and pictures of this wonderful family and the farm and fellow horses. I am so grateful. It is sheer joy to watch this family grow.
Dear Vamp my prayers are with you. This morning on TVG while I was doing housework they mentioned Coz. First they showed a picture of our lovely Queen and then there was our big boy. He has grown so tall. I hope he has his Mama’s desire to beat every horse in front of him, her brains and her transcendent personality that draws love from every corner of the universe.
Looks like Z14 is finally changing color too. She looks to be shedding out darker, maybe closer to Zenny’s color. Both are very attractive. Would be interesting if they had the rare opportunity to race against each other.
Visited Charlie and Hudson late yesterday afternoon. Deb exercised Charlie in the ring while Hudson had some stall time. Amanda worked with Hudson on Wednesday. Over the weekend, Deb, Amanda and Hudson traveled to CT to give Hudson her first glimpse of a show atmosphere and a little bit of exposure to competition in the ring. The ride in the van was not pleasant for anyone. Hudson was uncomfortable and acted up a bit. Deb and Amanda feel the van was too small and that’s why Hudson was unhappy. They are going to make arrangements for a larger trailer for future travel. Once at the show grounds, however, Hudson was great. Funny thing happened though, she saw another horse as soon as she got off the van; a gelding, and she began whinnying to him. Kept it up for quite a while. The place has three rings; two outdoor and one indoor. There was practice time scheduled in the indoor ring and Hudson did just fine with all the other horses and riders. Looks like once the van size is changed, everything should go really well for her show competition in the future.
Charlie was his usual sweet self. Angela had a barrel racing lesson with an instructor, Jeremy. After finishing his work with Angela and Bentley, he asked us questions about Charlie and then asked if he could ride him. Angela said yes. Jeremy has a real way with horses and I told him so. He and Charlie got along just great and Charlie was cantering around the ring having so much fun. Jeremy said Charlie “made his day”. Gave both horses their carrots and mints, which they totally enjoyed and headed home. Will go back again on Tuesday. Here’s a couple of photos of the visit. A rainbow came out and I took a photo of that too. All the orange netting around the ring has been added for the Barrel Racing Competion that will be held at the farm on Sunday. Love and Hugs, JB
So sorry to let you know that I just read in the TDN that Intense Holiday has been euthanized due to laminitis. Oh, how I wish someone comes up with a cure for this awful plague that kills so many of our beloved horses. Love and Hugs, JB
