Happy Wednesday! Here’s a brand new set of photos from Alys. Zenyatta’s War Front filly is pictured in many of these photos with her paddock mate, a colt out of Life is Sweet.
Thanks for the great pictures. Both Foals are just adorable. Princess Z is really big like her mama and so pretty too. Life Is Sweet colt looks so different right now as he is turning Grey. It looks neat though! “Z” looks great as usual.. Happy Happy here.. :)
Thank you Alys for these lovely photos of the kids………they look sensational, Lily is growing so fast and looks so much older already…….love the ears with the little black zebra mane, too funny. I would love to be able to watch Lis’s foal everyday to see him shed out and turn completely gray……that is really amazing. Can’t wait to see more pics of Ziconic and CoZ at the track……..he is beautiful.
Hugs to you mama Zen I bet your days are filled with sunshne and good Kentucky Blue, hugs to Lily, Ziconic and CoZ. And a big hug to my Indy who had 6 kin of his running in the Belmont, three of which came in First, Second and Fourth. Your son Commissioner ran a great race and I thought even more of him when they discovered an ankle chip this morning, so he was running with that and came in second. Wow
Thanks much for the new pictures! Zilly is growing up so nice. The LiS colt has such unique facial markings; he looks cute too.
I hope the coming summer will be kind to all.
Dear Judy.I have been studying the pics you sent, definitely looks as if there is something in the corner. The 2nd chick arrived at the Dyfi this evening I missed it this time. I was having my dinner.I’ll post the video when things have settled down here.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Little Cap Hercules and all the Sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
Glad you think you saw something too. Will try to get better photos next time. Oh, that’s wonderful; the second chick is here. Will look forward to the video. Mom and Dad will be busy now. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc and all the Sweeties
What a feast for our eyes today! Great photos of our Queen, her princess and LIS’s colt.
Princess Z is growing by leaps and bounds…she just may be the biggest of all Zenny’s offspring by the time she’s fully grown. We would love to hug all of them…maybe oneday we’ll blucky enough to have the chance.
Nice pictures, the colt looks like an Indian war pony! Both look like there is a lot of nipping and wrestling going on. So nice to see them have a good time .
Z Princess looks a lot like her mother, especially in the face. I love the facial markings on the Life is Sweet foal. Looking forward to the upcoming post.
I hope so … as I missed seeing Coz.. I only live 45 m from the Mayberry Farm.. visited there 2 yrs ago end of Jan day before cancer surgery..John and Dottie were in Ocala and at Mayberry.. I missed meeting them by 5 mins.. Could kick myself that I didn’t get up to the farm and see Coz before he left..
The colt next to the Princess is turning gray. The light areas around his eyes are not markings; they are places where his foal coat has shed, revealing the gray hair underneath. This colt is by Tapit, whose offspring sometimes gray very early. It looks like this colt is one of them. I bet that he will be nearly white by teh time he is of racing age. Unfortunately, that means that his striking blaze, which is a marking, will be all but invisible.
There are Thoroughbreds with pinto markings, but they are rare and are not generally found in the racing population.
just popping in to say hi.

Alys knows which shots will get the “oohs and aahs” from us especially baby pics. Always a comfort knowing these darlings get the best of care. Saw Z in her fly mask but have yet to see LIS in any pics. Did I miss them? Would like to see Z and her together in the paddock once again. Something about coming here each day just seems so calming and enriching. TY Team Z!
Love love these photos of such best pals!
This is one of the times I wish I knew much more about horses. So I’m asking those who are knowledgeable:
– if these 2 should ever meet each other again when they’re grown, will they remember each other?
– if Zenny should meet one of her babies again in a few years, will they still have any kind of a bond?
Looking for some good info here….
Can’t wait to see more about Coz, and let’s not forget Ziconic who, I think, is enjoying his last few months of freedom before going off to school.
Best to all,
Annie B in MA
I hope you find this article helpful. I do believe horses (and other animals) have memories (good and bad) and I think they do recognize their young. Ann Moss posted some Blog back that she showed Z a video of COZ on her phone when he was training in FL and Z was looking intently at it and licking the phone. She knew. Love and Hugs, JB
My favorite picture is the one with Z and baby drinking at the same time. She’s such a good mama. Love the LIS baby. I’m thrilled to see he’s going to be gray. I would so love to see a video of Zenyatta and Life Is Sweet with their babies.
With my attention focused on CC and the Belmont on Saturday, I just now checked to see where Normandy Invasion finished in the Met Mile, which Palace Malice won. Turns out he was 10th in the 12 horse field. BGG, have you heard anything on how he came out of the race. Hope he’s OK. Thanks for any info you might have on him. Love and Hugs, JB
As you know, the Belmont was NA’s first race back since the end of March. He didn’t go in the Alysheba Stakes in May due to a “minor hoof issue”. Just hoping he is not injured again. Love and Hugs, JB

Oops. Don’t mind me; meant the Met Mile was his first race back. Love and Hugs, JB

It’s OK, Judy, we all know what you meant. When it comes to stuff like that, you are one of our experts. Hope NA is OK, but horses sometime need a race after time off.

Incredible markings on those babies. Beautiful!

Love the face on the grey baby!!!!! Princess Z is absolutely her mother’s filly! Zen sure stamps her foals, doesn’t she?

Life is Sweet has a sweet looking colt! Smart guy to be buddy with Princess Z!

Agree with you, Judy. After all, didn’t the lion recognize Androcles? Victor Manure was in that movie, but Alan Young of Mr. Ed fame played Androcles.
