Happy Thursday!
Today we have a few new photos from Lane’s End. Alys has been spending time with Zenyatta and 12Z, capturing aspects of their daily routines. She sent us these two videos, each featuring a 360 degree view of Lane’s End!

I didn’t realize John S was upset about “E”‘s Facebook page and it’s inaccuracies. (And I totally understand why) However given the chain of events recently in my beautiful state of CT, I hardly think that a little msg from E on a social media outlet is not so bad. Life is too short to get upset about something you have no control over, and I am sure a fine man like John S would agree with that.
I logged onto this site the other day in hopes of a smile or a fun video or a kind word, and I got exactly what I was looking for! I will take solace that whoever wrote “E”‘s facebook msg did not mean any harm, unlike the people who are trying to profit off a horrific tragedy by setting up fake facebook pages and scams for money.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Holiday Season

Beautifully said, GirlSaratoga! I am so happy to see your post. High hoof to you and best wishes for a Christmas season full of blessings even in the wake of the tragic event in Newtown which will continue to touch all our hearts.

Trina, Kobie and Shadow are doing great. Just gave them there yearly vaccinations, and my farrier trimmed there feet. We also worked 100 feeder calves today, busy day. Grandkids are all fine, just getting ready for Christmas. Has the rain let up in Ca yet?

Thanks for the update, Allen! I didn’t know you had cattle! Here in Santa Paula the rain has been gentle though it did deter me from my accustomed dog walk today. It is expected to rain on and off through Christmas, and we do need it, of course. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

PAYNTER UPDATE SAT. DEC. 22 2012
“Best Christmas & New Year’s Gift”
A. Zayat tweets
With gratitude to the almighty and thanking all Paynters fans for their prayers and good wishes. Paynter is giving us our best Christmas and New Years gift. Paynter has made it very clear to me, my family and his vets and all his caretakers that he is ready to go back to his trainer @Midnightlute (Bob Baffert) to resume what he love as a Throughbred which is racing and being around all his friends.
After getting the green light from all his vets and him passing yesterday’s physical examination and ultrasounds that was done at the New Bolton Center with flying colors. It was decided that he is ready to ship to California.
After searching for all possible flights. We found out that the best direct flight will be on December 29th from Newark airport to LAX.
My my family and I are extremely excited and proud of our warrior. We have made plans to personally travel to CA to be the first to welcome our special colt back to his old home and to make sure that he is settled safely and happily #PowerUpPaynter
Keta Note: What a wonderful Christmas gift!

Dear Sign and Sally B. Yes from previous page Lane’sEnd is such a beautiful place. And the people are so nice there very hospitable to you visiting the stallions. I just cherish the time i have gotten to spend with the stallions there.
I wanted to make one comment about something you guys were talking about on the previous page.
It just wouldn’t surprize me if Zenyatta gets a glimpe of some of her children again one day. As loving as Zenyatta is. And the Moss’s, Dottie, John and David Ingordo. I just see a love light shining in all these people and Zenyatta I don’t think it would be out of the relmn for Zenny to see some of her children again. I just look at Zenyatta and 12Z and I just see love in these eyes. Just a gift to us from God.
I remember the saga of Cloud of the Rocky Mountains and the lady that was the narator she was talking about Cloud running into one of his Offspring and she pondered what Clouds thoughtswere about this particular offspring.. (It’s been a long time since I have seen it but she was taling about this very subject. I think she sensed something or podered if he remembered. Very Interesting.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
I watched the Cloud series on PBS too and the babies do stay with the herd for a longer time in the wild. It’s a good feeling to think that Z may see some of her babies again all grown up. Love and Hugs, JB
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy,
I just loved the series. I would like to see it all again. It’s so wonderful how the Stallion is so protective of his ban. Loved seeing Cloud being found and kept track of. It is a hard life though isn’t it for the wild horses. Happy Holidays.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Peggy:
You make a very good point that I have thought about myself. The wild horses have a difficult enough time surviving in the wild as it is. In one of the Cloud series, the new foals were falling pray to Mountain Lions at an alarming rate. The horses have horrible winters sometimes to get through and that can be disastrous for the foals born late in the year. Between their struggle to survive in nature and being culled by the BLM, I’m afraid they’re going to disappear. What a tragedy that would be. One of our EAN members, Doris McQuiddy, sent this beautiful story through e-mail. I would like to share it with everyone. Hugs, JB

Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Judy,
Just read the story. It was wonderful and a perfect time to read it. And,yes the new foals falling prey was just heartbreaking. It would be such a tragedy if they dissappear.
Signofthetimes
Dear Peggy N,
Thanks so much for echoing my sentiment as well, Z seeing her children sometime in the future. I could see The Mosses reuniting her with some. We really don’t know what
They are going to develop for her children yet. I imagine they WON’T be selling them
For quite awhile . They don’t have the same situation as Mandy Pope, having to
Recoupe the money she spent for the horses. Z also made a huge amount of $$$$.
Mandy seems to be an owner breeder that does care for her horses and provide the
Best for them. HDG and Plum Pretty are so lucky to become broodmares together .
Would love to visit LANES END. Will put it on my list of farms. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE. That weanling barn is sooo very high end.
Have a wonderful Holiday Peggy N !!!!
Peggy (N) South Georgia
Dear Sign,
Yes I so very much echoe your sentiment about Zenyatta seeing her children again when grown up. I would think that could very likely happen one day. It’s all about the love in that heart. Makes my heart just smile with the thought of that happening. Do you remember Zenyatta even caring for the other foals in the field with her and 12 Z when they were together. Just so much love there. I just feel she will remember her foals.
Happy Holiday to you too Sign.

This link really discussed the “gestalt” of breeding. Her nick with Frankel is a
“D”, but lots of other factors are being considered and one is ‘champion’ to
‘champion’ may produce a champion as both are untested.
Mr. Kronfeld knew he that “V” was a great producer so to breed her with
and unproven stallion at the time, Street Cry, was another approach.

Hi everyone—latest update: Rightful Image is scheduled to race Opening Day at S.A. in the 7th. Allowance, no claiming. However, not knowing anything other than that, there are weather concerns (possible rain) and it is on the turf–so who knows yet for sure, except he is listed in the Form.
Also, Rod an I do not have that day off—mid week and all that, we just were not gonna go until the weekend, so we have to see what we’ll do. Hmm…possible scratch, possible weather….Drat! Well, here’s an ego boost–he was a radio pick on one of the morning shows today. Handicapper liked him with #2, for a 2/11 box! High hoof!!
(John’s horse was also a pick–sorry can’t recall name–don’t have Form with me at this time.)
Merry Christmas everyone! As they say, May all your photo finishes be winning ones. :-)

Catching Up: from previous blog several days ago, Ann NC, laughed at your comment about “Royal Flush,” and Terry Crow, about you doing your best work in the outhouse. NIce sense of humor, both of you!! We all need that, don’t we, as was stated above about laughter getting us through difficult times.
Vicki B, enjoyed your ornament story. And Sign, thanks for the Lava Man update on HRTV. Janet Newman, I probably should know this, but what part of Alaska are you from? (I ask because we visited Anchorage during the summer–and really enjoyed it.) Temps arre REALLY low there now, I read.
Speaking of HRTV, some additions to their crew in the new year, among them Christina Olivarres Blacker, leaving TVG for HRTV. Way back when, she started at HRTV, then had many years on TVG before switching now. Interesting!!
And must make mention of these wonderful photos here–just priceless!

Stunning Gold Ship lifts Grade 1 Arima Kinen
By Nick Godfrey 9:35AM 23 DEC 2012
Report: Japan, Sunday
Nakayama: Arima Kinen (the Grand Prix) (Grade 1) 1m4½f, turf, 3yo+
JAPAN’S leading three-year-old colt Gold Ship (Naosuke Sugai/Hiroyuki Uchida) produced a stunning display to beat his elders to take the Arima Kinen, the nation’s end-of-season grand prix at Nakayama on Sunday.
With three furlongs to run, the grey son of Stay Gold was absolutely last of 16 in a field featuring several fellow Grade 1 scorers – although these did not include Japan Cup one-two Gentildonna and Orfevre after connections opted to bypass the 385 million yen (£2.8m) event.
As they approached the final turn, Gold Ship had to circle the entire field, finally being produced at least eight horses wide down the straight, where he still appeared to have plenty to do.
The colt proceeded to mow down his rivals to record a brilliant victory going away as his jockey stood up in his irons to salute the crowd passing the post.
It was a performance a little reminiscent of Orfevre’s in the Arc – if Orfevre hadn’t decided to throw the race away by veering across to the rail.
