Dear Deb E,
Zenny is getting the baby in position for delivery with
all of that rolling and also teaching it how to roll from
the inside- like a roller coaster ride !!! They keep mud
on the mares so they stay warm and don’t roll, too much
when they are close to foaling; they might move the
foal out of delivery position.
Everyone on the foaling cams used to comment how
dirty the mares were when they came into deliver- they
are supposed to be muddy.
Love and hugs
Dear Max.I have to agree they all say they love the horse so why hit him.I can’t see him running before the Gold cup he will need awhile to get over this race and so will Vautour he’s a young horse and should recover well.Poor Nobby Fontwell was like a bog today he tried a new trick though he stood on the fence but did’nt tell Mattie!!Dave has to hold a cobra meeting tomorrow because of the floods and is visiting the affected areas Monday.People tend to get lost in the excitement of a race and don’t seem to care that a horse is flesh and blood just like us.Here is the link to Batch and some lovely pics of Nobby. http://www.facebook.com/WocketWoy/

Zenyatta, I am relaxing while I think of you as my Christmas dinner celebration was today and now all are gone. I guess I am just tired.
At my age, I will always love my family and grandchildren, but there is no greater way for my soul than to spend it with you. And it was you that brought me to volunteering for the other horses at CV. They are good for my soul too.
I love you Zenyatta and with kisses; also to your sons
loving Z princess and my dear friend Sir,
Auntie Sally B
Dear Sally,
Wonderful post. You expressed so well what I think most or all of us feel about Zenny. Glad you were able to be with your family. It’s so much work, but it gives wonderful memories to those who came to your home. One Christmas we had 58-60 (can’t remember which) here for Christmas Eve dinner, and the oven quit! We all still had a great time, but boy was I worn out. Love the memory, though. Hope you have your feet up reading this! with love, Elizabeth
I always appreciate updates on Zenyatta, but this is indeed special. Love seeing her running free and still ready to “kick the dust up”. Thanks to all of the Lane’s End and Team Z family for taking the time to share these moments with all of us who still love and admire Zenyatta.
Cue Card is A1 and “happy as Larry” this morning after his fantastic win at Kempton yesterday. He will not run until the gold cup at the festival in march.Colin is dreaming?
Congratulations to Run Happy for winning yesterday with Gary Stevens aboard.Getting ready for Sprinter and Sire now!Sheena
Interesting reading a little more about the Maria Borell sacking; the day Runhappy had supposed ankle filling Maria wanted to give him bute, which is what set the whole thing
in motion. She had some very nasty words with Laura Wohlers and Mattress Mack says
as he is like Donald Trump- he did the firing. Supposedly she would not let his usual groom near him; was taking in new clients (which was part of their agreement, that she would not take in any new clients). And she had gotten some hats and t-shirts on the sly as publicity for her racing barn; and took lots of photos of herself with Runhappy. Also previous trainer, Charles Simon had similar issues with Laura Wohlers- and he was able to escape unscathed. None of this justifies not paying her, though. And she has some well-known trainers that are going to testify for her as to how a private trainer is paid and
how they have been paid as a private trainer.
Interesting story-supposedly Mattress Mack is going to bring Runhappy to Lonestar racetrack in Houston, when he is on hoiliday, a few blocks from his Gallery furniture
store.
Sprinter showed all heart to win at Kempton today a gutsy rather than spectacular win but wonderful to see the 2 champions back at their best.Don Cossack has arrived home safe and sound and says he is flattered by all the attention!Un de Sceaux fell 2 out with the race at his mercy and old stager Flemenstar won. Both Shorty and Un are both fine.Hugs Sheena
Un parted company with Walsh, but quickly got up and looked fine. Hopefully he’s okay. Mullins was pretty sure that he was, as he had no reports to the contrary. Good for Flemenstar, 10 years old and still going strong. Good news for you and other Sprinter fans, although I know that you like Sire as well. He will be back.
Dear Max.Yes,i got to love Sire and the whole Preston family while Sprinter was off sick. Now it’ s difficult for me when they take each other on.of course Un de Sceaux is in the champion and could win if he stays on his hooves.Good win for Flemenstar chasers are so toughBeen watching the gorgeous Aidan again tonight.I am hearing about storms in Texas and 11 have died.So much damage in such a short space of time.Hugs Sheena
British born adventurer John Beeden has become the first person to row non-stop across the pacific ocean. He left San Francisco on June 1st and arrived at Cairns on December 27th.What else would expect of a Yorkshire man!!Congratulations.Sheena.
Dear Sheena,
Christmas with Batch, The Pwoducer, Nobby ( bad boy) did not take
the jump and Woy as Santa Elf and “reindeer”, hilarious.
Loved the Nativity as well. Such characters along with their horses.
Enjoy the chases. Runhappy did well after his training with Maria Borell;
guess it is easy to follow a good trainer and keep him winning. Watched
the 2015 LaCompte Stakes when he came in 9th. Laura had him running
off the pace, not using his weapon of speed as GS says. Hope he continues
to do well; not sure Laura is a very good trainer.
Love and hugs
Dear Tizgood.Great excitement today the pwoducer Marc Goldstein won on Cannon Fodder for Sheena West.He might like to have a word with Batch and Nobby.Their videos are hilarious I loved they used a wheelbarrow for Santa’s sledge.Have you seen their website? It’s still under constwuction!!!Love and hugs Sheena
Dear Sheena,
Love their site – great work pwoducer in your win.
They keep me smiling all day. I loved the wheelbarrel,
too and so funny they forgot to hook up Woy and Nobby.
So great to have some riders and horses so entertaining.

California Chrome worked for the first time in company; coming from behind and passing a stable mate. Art Sherman is planning to run the big colt without blinkers so he can
“look his competition in the eye” – which is always intimidating for the horse being glared at.
Victor was up for the work- and had to urge him a little – ride the boy Victor !!!!! – and would prefer the blinkers – not sure he is going to win that request.
Thanks for this latest work by CC. He is just magnificent looking. Love the way Art S. is training him. Godspeed Beautiful Chestnut Champ. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy, Sophia and Ingrid,
Glad you enjoyed the article and video;
he is so shiny, healthy, big and muscled.
Godspeed big chestnut boy-may 2016 be
another great year for Team CC.

Christmas is over. (Deep breath.) Another season of rejoicing in the birth of the Savior has come and gone. We are packing away our decorations, unstringing lights and taking Christmas music off our playlists, while the kids are in the other room playing with new toys. We are all ready for a bit of rest from the celebrations, cooking, traveling and the joyful busyness of the holiday. The New Year is upon us – an amazing opportunity to rest, reflect and pray for renewal for the year ahead.
Rest – “Come to me, all those who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
As strange as it sounds in a culture that pushes activity, the Lord calls us to rest. After celebrating Jesus’ birth in such glorious (but likely tiring) fashion, what blessing it is to simply sit, take a breath and rest. Rest in who He is, what He is doing and what He has done for us this year. How? He may call us to rest in Him in so many ways, by switching off devices, perhaps opening our Bible or journal in the peace of the morning or just simply sitting in quiet prayer are all great ways to start.
Reflect – “I will meditate on your wonderful works.” (Psalms 145:5b) A new year is an opportune time to reflect on how the Lord has worked in and around us. Take note of what He has done with a sense of gratitude. Pray with an honest and open heart about any ongoing difficulties, and talk with God as you remember moments that have changed you or have shown you more of Jesus. And for those who blessed you this year, take an opportunity to send a thank you card or a note or gift of encouragement to thank them.
Renew – Isaiah 40:31 says, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” The new year is dawning, and maybe it’s time for a new, or renewed, you. As we pray for and seek renewal, we are called to place our hope in the Lord. Reminding ourselves of where our hope lies, praying without ceasing, fixing our thoughts on things above and not on earthly troubles – these are among the many ways we can seek the kind of renewal that only comes from Christ.
Let’s trek into 2016 with a fervor and hope for what the new year holds! Let’s seek and pray for rest, reflection and renewal as we – through grace and faith – strive to walk according to His will.
Dear Sue.Wishing you a happy and healthier new year.I am a bit of a traditionalist and preferred the sundays from my childhood when it was seen as a day of rest.Hugs Sheena
Hi Z’sters,
Christmas Day has passed, but we are still in Christmastide until the Epiphany on January 6th. Don’t forget there are Twelve Days of Christmas! I hold on to the season as long as I can; it’s my favorite time of year. :-) :-)
God bless us everyone!

Dear Judy.Yet more rain is forecast over here!Temps are still very mild though. It was great to see Sprinter and Sire back to their best today and Dessie’s statue looked especially lovely too.Mike has been riding Coz!!It will be lovely to see CC without blinkers I am not a huge fan of them.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT Cap Hercules Frank Bentley and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
I thought that was Mikey on COZ. I’m sooooo happy! Yes, congrats to SS and glad that Sire came out of his race OK too.
Oh, I hope the rain passes quickly and the sun shines brightly to help dry things up. We are having temps in the high 50s and 40s too. CC looks so beautiful. Love and Hugs, JB, LM, PC, HT, Cap, Herc, Frank, Bentley and all the Sweeties
Please can anyone tell me how to get in to watch CC workouts?? I’ve gone to Los Al website, and am unable to find the info. I called also and was told to leave a message, which I did, but never heard back. Help!!
Dear Cheryl,
Call Art Sherman’s barn and they will let you know.
The track might have his barn number; I am sure
he loves to talk to all the chromies. Maybe TC can
help, too.
Love and hugs
Don Poli gives Willie Mullins his 1st success in the Lexus chase at Leopardstown today. He beat First Lieutenant by half a length.A workmanlike victory will have to improve before the Festival.Concern iis growing over the performances of Paul Nicholls horses. For the first time since 2004 he had no winners over the festive period and the horses appear to be fit and healthy.Oh,for the good old days of Kauto,Denman and Bucks!Sheena
Dear Max.Mullins doesn’t need to take any notice of his critics.Certainly was heavy going at Leopardstown it will improve come march.Arctic fire lost couldn’t cope with the longer distance and stamina sapping ground.York racecourse is completely flooded more suited for water sports!Sheena
Mullins said that he was a little disappointed with Sir Des Champs in the Lexus. Shorty was riding. He also said recently that Annie Power is nearly back to her old self. She might be getting encouraging love letters from the Moose?
The French jockey is with Mullins to learn his training techniques and to get some riding pointers from Shorty. He also wants to improve his English. Mullins admitted long ago that he does not speak any French although he was able to communicate with the guy in France who sold The Fly to him. He understood that he was getting a super horse. The Fly is actually British as his owners are Northern Irish. I’m sure that you know this.
I think that Paul Nicholls is just going through a down period. His yard will bounce back, although it will be tough to return to the glory days of Kauto. He is a rare horse as we both know only too well. It’s like Zenyatta. One of a kind.
Zenny, How I wish I could just ONCE in my lifetime feed you a peppermint. You will always be my horse of a lifetime…how I miss you racing but I take great comfort in knowing you are living such a grand life at LE. God gifted me with a love of horses and you, my Queen, have been the grandest gift of all. Love you forever! Forever yours, Sue. (Same birthdate 4/1).
Zenny, your flagged tail tells the story…you are a very happy horse. Our hearts are full of love and pride of having been two of your forever fans. You make us smile!
Love you bunches!
Dear Max.Yes,of course we can claim the Fly as one of us but I’m sure the Irish would disagree.I noticed shorty was on Sir Des Champs. This time last year Paul was churning out the winners.Of course all trainers go through difficult periods, horses are not machines.I saw Clive Smith presenting the trophy for the race named in Kauto’s honour but we have had no news about the burial of his ashes yet.He was the horse of a lifetime and I think of him always.Still find it difficult to accept he is gone.Moosie has been very quiet on his FB but wished his fans on twitter a happy Christmoose!Sarah had put a lovely pic of Annie Power up on the Fly’s page.Hope to see her back for the festival.Sheena
I know how you must feel about Kauto. His passing was such a blow to racing because his fans were still very interested in him even if he was retired. He was a super horse in every way. He got along very well with Denman and other horses, but he liked to bully Masterminded. That quirk made me laugh. He was and is a British racing icon.
I just read that Mullins thinks that something is wrong with Arctic Fire, which may explain his poor results. They are going to check him over. Also Mullins said that Don Poli is quite lazy during his training sessions. DP only does what he must on the track to win. At least he knows how to move when it counts.
Dear Max.Oh, I hope Arctic Fire will be alright Sarah who runs Fly’s page loves him.I remember peeps who visited Paul’s yard would say Denman could be quite a grump while Kauto loved everyone and was so friendly.I still like to visit his twitter account and it’s good to see Laura keeping in touch with Paul and the Ditcheat team.Did you hear Sir Peter O’ Sullevan left most of his £9 million fortune to horse charities except for a few personal bequests a gentleman to the end.Sheena
That is wonderful news of Sir Peter. Horses everywhere need help. All of my charity money goes to them or to dogs and cats. I also give to bird rescue.
Mullins was thinking of putting blinkers on Don Poli, but the horse is so laid back already that blinkers might relax him too much. He was apparently tired out by the heavy going ground. He and Cooper have bonded. Shorty is not in that picture.
Forgot to mention that Mullins is giving Champagne Fever a bit of a rest, but he’s coming back. Saw a video of him in his stall at Mullins’ yard looking in very fine form in a navy blue blanket. He’s another good gray.
My Mom spent the night in the ER.
Then she was so lucky she got a room.
They let her out today but she is really to weak to take care of herself.
My sister is with her tonight.
We are trying to talk her into living at my sister’s for a few weeks but she’s not to willing.Maybe a night with me and Star puppy at her house will change her mind? ?
Keep praying please my friends.
Love Sue
Parents are concerned about being a burden to their children. We always have to make certain that they understand that they are not burdens. This is not easy. Hoping for the best for you and your mother.
Thoughts and Prayers to you, your family and mom.
Sounds like you have a very supportive
family. Older folks can be very stubborn about
leaving their home and not realizing how sick they
really are. Bless you for taking your puppy and spending
the night.
Love and hugs
Thinking of you and your Mom, Sue. Hope you and your sister can come up with a plan to keep her safe (that she will go along with).
Love and hugs, Sandy

Dear Cheryl,
Call Art Sherman’s barn and they will let you know.
The track might have his barn number; I am sure
he loves to talk to all the chromies. Maybe TC can
help, too.
Love and hugs

Tizgood-Thanks. I think that’s an excellent idea :-) If I find out anything, I’ll let Z’s fans know, too.

Max
Here’s the video of the race. Mullins doesn’t care what the critics say about Don Poli. Don Poli doesn’t care either. The horse won.

At least he knows how to move when it counts.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max.Oh, I hope Arctic Fire will be alright Sarah who runs Fly’s page loves him.I remember peeps who visited Paul’s yard would say Denman could be quite a grump while Kauto loved everyone and was so friendly.I still like to visit his twitter account and it’s good to see Laura keeping in touch with Paul and the Ditcheat team.Did you hear Sir Peter O’ Sullevan left most of his £9 million fortune to horse charities except for a few personal bequests a gentleman to the end.Sheena
Max

Dear Sue.Hope your mum will have company but parents love their independance.Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers always.Love Sheena
Max
Parents are concerned about being a burden to their children. We always have to make certain that they understand that they are not burdens. This is not easy. Hoping for the best for you and your mother.

Thoughts and Prayers to you, your family and mom.
Sounds like you have a very supportive
family. Older folks can be very stubborn about
leaving their home and not realizing how sick they
really are. Bless you for taking your puppy and spending
the night.
