Dear Alys, Team Z, LE
Thanks so much for this great Christmas gift! The Queen looks splendid, and I am so glad that she got what she wanted, peppermints and mud. The photos and the videos are great. I particularly love the first photo, beautiful!
Merry Zmas! A healthy, happy 2016, too.
Thank you Alys and Team Z for these wonderful photos and videos. It makes me so happy to see Zenny so happy. The photos are so beautiful they look like paintings. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to all.
So happy to see our Queen got her wishes! Looking at Life Is Sweet, I remember the video of John trying to get her up for training and she kept literally blowing him off. What precious gals they are! Merry Christmas to all!
Oh these slow motion video shorts are so so special. Feeling like I am almost there with the Queen. What a best Christmas present! thank you and Merry Christmas!
Hovis presents his very own Christmas message!Safe trips to all horses and jockeys at Kempton today and all over the weekend.Go Nobby at Fontwell!!!Sheena http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/blog/hovis-friday-i
Thanks, Sheena!
Hovis is quite a Christmas present. He always brings smiles and giggles. I see he was humoring Mum by posing with the reindeer antlers on his gorgeous head — what a good sport (and SO manly, too)!
Hope Hovis got some nice treats from jolly St. Nick!
Merry Chirstmas, Zenyatta!! Still “Wow-ing” us with yourself! As always, you bring smiles to our faces. So good to see you looking so healthy! Hugs and Kisses, always.
Dear Zenny,
What could be better…..peppermints and mud…..LOL…….you look good in anything. Sending best wishes for everyone to have a happy NEW YEAR. Thanks to Alys and all at LE for the pics of our gorgeous girl. hugs
What a wonderful surprise to find these lovely photos and videos!! It always lifts my heart to see Zenyatta content and healthy and to know she is watched over and given such care and so much love. Those peppermints seemed to hit the spot and I am grateful she is indulged in these small pleasures, but horses don’t always get the mud spas when they want to roll. She is still beautiful even covered in mud and I am grateful to Alys for capturing these snapshots for us. I am grateful to all of Team Z for continuing to share the life of our Queen and her family to those of us out here who love her from afar. I hope everyone has had a beautiful Christmas and I wish the best for all in the New Year!
Congratulations to Lizzie Kelly for becoming the first lady jockey to win a grade one jumps race in the UK!!!She rode Tea for Two to victory in the Kauto Star novices chase.Thinking of those affected in the bushfires in Victoria, Australia while the floods have returned to the north of the UK.Faugheen next!Hugs Sheena
Phew it’s hard to calm down after one of the most exciting King George’s.Vautour had the race at his mercy but the ever popular Cue Card just never gave up and won in a photo finish.Alice Fox-Pitt must have been cheering on at home always has been her favourite.Don Cossack fell but looks to be fine.Sheena.Sprinter and Sire tomorrow!
Well done, Cue Card. All of the experts were wrong, including AP who called it a Don Cossack sure win. Next time for Vautour. He’s a young horse and will improve. Hope that Don is okay.
Dear Max.Gosh, that was a thrilling finish. Silvi had to pull up hope all is well.I am so happy for Cue Card he deserved that win and is still in running for the million pound bonus. It was fabulous to see Faugheen back to his imperious best and Douvan has won easily too.Hope you had a lovely Christmas.Hugs Sheena
Max
As you know, Cue Card has Northern Dancer blood on his sire line. It’s not surprising that Cue Card is doing this well with those North American genes in his pedigree. It’s also nice to see a smaller British yard win a prestige English race instead of all conquering Irish raiders. Tizzard actually predicted this. Did Jacobs ride Cue Card?
Mullins is very commentary of Douvan. He has a great future, if luck comes his way. Let us know how Silvi is. Nicholls loves that horse.
You’re such a beautiful girl. We’re so blessed to watch you! Your boys are gorgeous! You my dear, are still and always will be the Queen of racing! (Just curious, I thought I read here that your stable mate Life is Sweet, had passed away. She did have one baby though, same age as Coz?) Thank you TeamZ for this.
Yes. Such a simple word. Just three little letters.
Yes. A simple word that can change everything.
I have always been so in awe of Mary’s “yes.” By her humble obedience to trust in what God was asking. What faithfulness. And this wasn’t just some simple request. This wasn’t just some small favor. He was asking for her complete trust. He was asking for her all.
She said yes to the call God had for her life. She embraced His plan and said yes to be part of God’s mission on earth.
I don’t know . . . if I were in her sandals, I probably would have been like, “What? Umm, just a minute here. I have a lot of questions!”
Her beautiful and humble response . . let it be.
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” {Luke 1:38}
Wow. That is just so inspiring and encouraging to me. I want to respond to His call with the same willingness that Mary had!
It can be too easy to to come up with excuses or brush things off as being unimportant. But God can do anything with anyone who is willing. He is our strength.
We need to remember the truth is that even one person can change history with one yes.
God is at work right now. His plan in our lives is happening right this very moment. We are part of God’s mission here on earth. We just need to be open to God and put our trust in Him.
Say yes everyday.
We need to let God work in us. Let God work through us. Let Him use us as He needs. No questioning all the details. We don’t need to understand everything. We don’t need to see what He is doing with our lives to know we are part of His plan. No list of excuses. No doubting. No thinking we aren’t important enough to make a difference.
Yes. Yes to His call. Yes the whole way through.
Yes with our weaknesses and flaws. Yes with all the bumps and frustrations that might come along. Yes. Let it be.
Dear Max.Paddy Brennan was on Cue Card and is his regular rider now.He said it was the greatest day of his life and he’s won a gold cup too!No news of Silvi so I am hoping all is well.Douvan(given luck of course)looks to have a great future ahead of him. Those Northern Dancer genes are everywhere.Jacobs will back in the New Year after injury. It is always good to see the smaller stables win the big races. They work hard for little reward. The Welsh Grand National will be held on January 9th now.Sheena
I just read those comments by Brennan. Good for him. It would be great for that stable to win the bonus. Tizzard said that Cue Card has really come into his own this year. I was not aware that Darryl was injured.
Did you see that Mullins has a new jockey from France?
Will the change in timing affect any of the entries to the Welsh Grand National?
Dear Max.Did you hear about the 11 day ban Brennan got and fined over £4000.I could see it coming I know it’s all in the heat of the moment but there is just no need for it.Shorty only got a 2 day ban as he did’nt hit Vautour so much. The whips are more spongy and softer now but…I can’t see it will make much difference in the Welsh Grand National but do you remember 2010 when we had snow and frost and the King George was run in mid-Jan Kauto could only get 3rd.He always won when the race was run in December. It was great to see some little ones dressed in their Kauto scarves todayI hadn’t heard about the new jockey. My horse Nobby was running at Fontwell today but he fell.I own a few hairs on his tail!!!Mattie Batchelor of Wocket Woy fame rides him. They even have their own website now. They produce hilarious videos each week.Hugs Sheena
Max
Yes, I saw the news of the bans, and I agree. Brennan said that Cue Card was very tired at the end of the race. Why then hit the poor soul? Tizzard said that Cue Card is a beloved member of his family. His son used to ride him until he retired. They are not certain if Cue Card will run again before the Gold Cup. Vautour’s next race is not certain either. That was a very close win. I saw the photo. He seemed to have won by a toe and nostril.
Just remember that your horse’s tail may be a combination of linen and silk like Danny. You’re still an owner. Hope Nobby is well.
Kauto was King at Kempton. That last King George is still vivid in my memory.
Dear Sheena,
What an exciting King George; heard both jockey’s go whip rule violations and suspensions – in the heat of the moment. So glad Cue Card won, wish Smad Place
had done better, guess he faded and may not be a 3 mile horse or maybe will grow into it.
So amazed a 6 year old gave such a great challenge !!!
Watching Charlotte and Vallegro; Carl and Utopia and Edward Gal and Totallis – a match made in heaven. Happy boxing day, my dad’s birthday.
Love and hugs
PS
Love Charlotte’s comments about Utopia, he is a stallion, a bit smarter than Vallegro and I have to ride him every step, he did a circle too small and Tries to get away with things. And with Vallegro she says “I just think it and it happens” – what a soulmate.
Dear Sheena,
Just watched video of Edward Gal and Totalis – what a pair. So sad the he was purchsed
by that family for their son who was inexperienced at dressage, thinking the horse can
make the rider. It is so obvious watching Edward, the young man was so over mounted
and the horse suffered. Thank goodness he is retired.
Love and hugs
Dear Tizgood. It was sad to see Toto in his last competition. We will never know what could have happened if he had stayed with Edward Gal.Smad Place was up against some classy horses today I think he was 5th and maybe too soon after Hennessy.Should be a good race again tomorrowLove and hugs Sheena
