@JudyB in response to your comments on the video and pictures of Ziconic on pg 14.
You’re welcome Judy. I’m just posting over what someone put up on the forum side of the board.
There is also an article in DRF where John S suggests that Ziconic may start end of February. Here is a link to the article and someone C&P it for those of us who don’t have a DRF account.
Sunday at Santa Anita, Ziconic worked five furlongs in 1:02.20 under Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith. Ziconic worked in company with two stablemates.
Trainer John Shirreffs said he has seen steady progress from Ziconic in recent months.
“He’s got to get okayed from the gate and he needs a nice six furlongs and he’ll be ready to run,” Shirreffs said. “It will be within a month, I think.”
Ziconic had four workouts at a half-mile and five furlongs at Saratoga last July and August, but did not work again early November at Belmont Park. Since then, Ziconic has worked nearly every week. He was part of the Shirreffs stable shipped from Belmont Park to Santa Anita in early December.
Typical of a Shirreffs-trained horse, the workouts have not been fast. On Jan. 10, Ziconic worked five furlongs in 1:01.60.
Zenyatta has had one foal to race – Cozmic One, who is winless in two starts. Cozmic One is in training at Santa Anita with Shirreffs. There is belief that Ziconic has considerably more ability, Shirreffs said.
“He looks pretty good,” Shirreffs said. “He’s got a little more gas.”
Thank you for sharing this article. Looking forward to ZI’s first race. Hoping COZ starts again soon too. Godspeed to both of our beloved Princes; safe an sound. Love and Hugs, JB

I’m relieved about Vic. You never know. It’s a credit to Mullins keeping his horses in top condition. However that win was something like the hand of God raising up that horse and sending him on to victory.
I read that VVM is raiding England. She had a so so record until Mullins took over her training. Since she’s unbeaten.
It’s reported that Coolmore has purchased back Walk in the Park, maybe because of the success of Douvan and Min. The question is: did this success come from WITP or was it Mullins? If it is the latter or both, without Mullins, it’s not going to work for Coolmore.
I will check out Darren. I always get a laugh from spoof Mullins too.

Abigail,
Loved the article. Some of the “ugly ducklings” I knew of and met new ones. I did meet John Henry at the Kentucky Horse Park and as a little girl met War Admiral at Faraway Farm in Lexington. I don’t remember much about WA and since I was pretty small he looked big to me. Now, John is another story. Stood in his paddock with his back to us and ignored everyone.
Dear Abigail,
You keep outdoing yourself! This is a great read with wonderful videos and photos.
Love these “ugly ducklings” very much — of course, there isn’t a dud gene in any of them.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us and giving us so much joyful learning!

I had a pretty bad fall this morning. Caught the toe of my shoe and tripped, fell face first on the concrete driveway. Chipped a tooth, lots of blood, had to be sutured up. Just now got home, 5:55 our time. I will be on an antibiotic plus I have Norco for the pain. I look like a mess! I know I will be very sore in the morning. Have to see the specialist tomorrow or the next day for a check up. Poor Ave…she is no longer in pain. Heartbreaking situation. I think I would have been better off working today! lol Talk to you tomorrow. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO
So sorry about your mishap, Kathy. I know you will feel it tomorrow, but I hope you will heal quickly. Glad you have no broken bones — too bad your tooth was chipped, and you required suturing. Please take care and feel better soon!
Wow, impressive win by Keri Belle. Great ride by Alex Solis too. Congrats to both. So happy for JS and Mr. & Mrs. M. Thanks for posting the video replay. Love and Hugs, JB
What a COLD night doing horse duties tonight! Thank goodness for layering clothes and heat packs in my gloves. Horses were so hungry for their feed. Dear Kathy,
So sorry about your fall and your tooth. Hope you heal very quickly, especially the soreness. Keeping you in my prayers, as I feel everyone here in Zenny’s family will.

At one time, Sam-cat would come to the kitchen door and loudly demand attention. He didn’t always want to be fed. Most of the time he preferred the food he found for himself. But he came to be noticed, to be stroked, and to be talked to-to know that this was home and he was cherished and wanted.
We all want that kind of attention. Having others need us, warm our hearts, and stroke us with their words is like coming home. Even when we’re physically hungry and on our way to get something to eat, we can always stop to be greeted, to be acknowledged and loved. Even the aloof and arrogant melt when they are shown they are loved and wanted. Sam-cat proved that-every time he left his hideaway in the barn or the woods to come to the kitchen for love and attention.
Each man is good in the sight of the Great Spirit.
-Sitting Bull, Sioux
Thank you for all your good wishes, everyone. I’m really feeling it today. I’m unrecognizable with the swelling and bruising. Kinda of scary! Happy Tuesday. Hugs, Kathy
Dear Kathy,
I can truly empathize having had a similar fall myself (in front of a large crowd of folks assembled for a groundbreaking ceremony) a couple of years ago. I didn’t go out for quite a while. Thinking of you and sending best wishes for a rapid recovery.
Hugs,
Sandy
Dear Kathy,
Years ago we had a patient come into the clinic. She was a young woman and was getting married in 2 weeks. She’d been riding her bicycle, and her pant leg got caught in the bike (can’t remember if it was spokes or peddles). She was thrown over the handle bars then sideways, landing first on her face! Her whole face – nose, eyes, cheeks, but especially her mouth was mangled, scrapped and cut. She chipped one or two teeth (can’t remember).
My first thought when I saw her was ‘she’s going to have to postpone the wedding . . . a long time’. But my husband, calm as always, while he was fixing her face, reassured her that in 2 weeks she would look beautiful again. Sure enough a few days before the wedding, she came in to get all of the stitches removed, and she looked wonderful.
So I feel sure that all of us – your friends here on Zenny’s website – will keep praying for you (which is the best medicine – I think). I know you’ll be beautiful again soon. But I sure am sorry that you’re going through this and hope you feel better soon.
with love, Elizabeth
Dear Kathy.I was so sorry to hear about your fall and on a Monday too!I cannot imagine anything worse than falling flat on your face.Keep away from a mirror for awhile.I hope you will feel less sore as the days go by but do be careful. You will have to turtle a lot until you heal.Indeed we all need to be loved I remember mum and dad had a grey cat called Sam before I was born.I always used to hear stories about him as I grew up.
Little Oliver is in hospital it doesn’t sound good with him and another of Zoe’s friends is sick too.Mr Fibbs habbed a dweam of finding donuts and it was mobie night!Laura Hillenbrand wrote a beautiful piece about Gulch when she visited last autumn. She knew she was seeing him for the last time but he was at peace with himself. It’s on TDN.Try and have an easy day today and look after yourself.Take care.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO

Dear Sheena,
I had a pretty bad fall this morning.

Hugs and Love

What a COLD night doing horse duties tonight! Thank goodness for layering clothes and heat packs in my gloves. Horses were so hungry for their feed. We are trying to keep weight on our Fancy pants now 34 yrs old. She is having a tough time doing so even though she has been blanketed now. hugs, Sally B
If this blast of cold is by you Z, please stay warm and cozy!
love you with kisses and to your sons
