Happy Friday!
We’re pleased to share photos of fans Jackie Camacho and Allison Folkman visiting Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm. As the winners of NYRA’s Meet the Legendary Ladies sweepstakes, Jackie and Allison received a trip to Kentucky to meet both Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta and a two-night stay at Stonestreet Farm.
Jackie became a fan of Zenyatta and watched many of her races with her sister who has since passed. She takes the little pig figurine pictured here on all of her adventures as a way to honor her sister.
The next opportunity to win an audience with Queen Z is just around the corner… Stay tuned for details about the upcoming 2016 Zenyatta.com Celebration.
Enjoy!

Congratulations to Al’s Gal winning the EP Taylor, yay,you did it!!!
What a race by Erupt to win the Canadian International, and a gallant race by Dartmouth coming in second. Wake Forest third and I am very fond of the next two finishers, The Pizza Man fourth and Danish Dynaformer fifth. Very respectable races, a new jockey, Flavien Prat turned things around for the Pizza Man this year winning the Northern Dancer-this seven year old still delivers! Danish Dynaformer had a new jockey,Joel Rosario for the first time today, way to go big guy-we love you.

Last night the rain came. It wasn’t as much as we needed, but it was much appreciated. The moonflower bloomed profusely-eight huge blossoms like spotlights glowed in the dark, showing its gratitude for the moisture. That was a gift. Another gift came when we watched a bundle of brown fur descend the long rock walk to the woods: a rock-chuck came up to investigate the change in temperature. We have seen rock-chucks sunning on the huge boulders at the foot of the cliff, but this is only the second time we have seen one near our house.
Sometimes when we don’t get what we think we need (like our thinking we needed a lot of rain), we receive gifts we don’t expect: the grace of a little rain, the beauty of a blooming moonflower, and the delight of a roving rock-chuck. Perhaps those were the gifts we really needed, and the Spirit, who is much wiser than we, generously gave them to us. May we have the wisdom to receive those unexpected gifts with thanks and deep appreciation.
With your power only can I face the winds.

Oh, my! Lucky girls. And the Queen is as lovely and poised and engaged as ever. Thank you so much, Team Z and LE, for keeping us connected. Hugs to all in Dumplingland. Safe travels for those getting to go to the BC. Hugs.

Dear Kathy.Last night we had the rain too and it was quite enough!Cleared up now and the S word was mentioned for the north of the UK this week.Should be dry and cold for us.Sad to hear Jia-Jia the world’s oldest panda in captivity died yesterday. She was 38yrs old and her health had deteriorated rapidly the last couple of weeks so the decision was taken to euthanise her.
I hadn’t realised you had a 3rd Presidential candidate called Gary Johnson I was watching an interview with him last friday night and they asked what his plans were for Aleppo and he said “what’s Aleppo”Enough said.Mr Fibbs is hiding in his pumpkin today I hope he is well prepared for the 3rd debate that should be great fun!
Our Olympians are parading in Manchester this afternoon and London tomorrow.
Mango and the family said goodbye to bird brudder Jade yesterday sad but he is going to a great home. They are off to New York how exciting.next week I think to appear on telly.None of the family have visited the big Apple before.
My friend Liz was dressed in Versace today for work a grey cashmere dress and pink woven jacket ideal for the chillier days.No high street for her!
Poor Zoe’s cubs lost last night and she did have her shirt on and bows in her hair.Bless her.I joined a group called Just Friendly cats very nice.We have had the full team named for the change over to ITV in January no Nick Luck or Clare Balding.Brough Scott is back as one of the experts.Hayley Turner the ex-jockey takes the place of Emma Spencer could never have them working together after Hayley’s affair with Jamie Spencer.I will miss Simon Holt the commentator though he was excellent.I have no idea who they will have now.We shall soon see if it works well.I think Erupt who won last night is going to Santa Anita for the BC.Hope you have a good Monday.Remember to turtle.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
It is actually raining here at the moment! VERY exciting for us! Awww…RIP Jia-Jia. 38…a ripe old age for a panda! I don’t think Gary Johnson will ever live down his Aleppo gaffe. Enough said, indeed! Love the pic of Fibbs in the pumpkin. Did you see all the adorable Halloween pics of the My Pom Pals pups? SO CUTE!!! Should be a great parade for your Olympians today and tomorrow. It was very sad for Mango and family saying goodbye to Jade. Sounds like he will be in a great home, though. They said he was singing. That’s a good sign! Yes, Mango will be on TV. Good for her! We all wish we could live Liz’s life! Versace…NICE! Zoe was worried that the fact that she was naked is what caused the Cubs to lose. Poor Zoe! Just Friendly Cats sounds nice. I’ll look for them! I’m sure the ITV changeover will take a lot of getting used to. I will look for Erupt. BC is just around the corner. Very exciting! I will do as much turtling as possible today. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXO

Smith says Songbird will have to step up her game in BC Distaff
HorseRacingNation.com October 16, 2016
Songbird will be facing older fillies and mares for the first time when she runs in the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff on Nov. 4.
This late in the year, an age disparity might not make a difference, but since the undefeated two-year-old filly champion of 2015 would be facing older champions Beholder and Stellar Wind, it’s something to think about, in the opinion of Mike Smith, who has guided Songbird to dominating daylight victories in each of her 11 races.

Galileo Gold is to stay in training as a 4yr old Hugo Palmer has announced. The fabulous grey Sprinter Mecca’s Angel has been retired with 9 wins from 17 starts.Aidan has 6 entered in the Racing Post Trophy with Capri as the favourite.
Smad Place is hoping to repeat his fantastic win in the Hennessy again this year but trainer Alan King is under no illusion of the task ahead.Only the mighty Arkle has won this race in successive years and Denman twice in 2007 and 2009.Now the real racing begins!

Cheer for Frankuus in the Racing Post. He’s on a roll.

The 2000 was kind of like Secretariat at Belmont. The major difference is that Secretariat was lengthening his lead with every stride. Red was running faster with each quarter to the end and beyond. The opposition was getting ever closer to Frankel in the 2000, but not close enough. He got the job done.

Dear Max, Sheena and Z Fans:
There’ll never be another Belmont like Secretariat’s.

We prefer constant movement to waiting. But waiting gives us time to rest, to prepare, to build up the spirit, to make ourselves ready for what lies ahead. Waiting creates staying power so that there is no need to retreat-or, as the Cherokee put it, a si ni, “no need to go backward.” We need to remember that waiting is only a prelude to action, even though as we wait, we may not know what kind of action it is that lies ahead of us.
Waiting is a power-gathering time, so when we finally see what it is that we must do or where it is that we must go, we will have the strength to face any challenge. Waiting allows the body, mind, and spirit to become balanced and ready to work together. And when mind, body, and spirit work as one, we can move mountains. So do not fear waiting-it can be a spirit gift.
The path to Glory is rough and many gloomy hours obscure it.
-Black Hawk, Sauk

Dear Kathy,
Such a powerful message – ‘waiting’. It teaches us patience, which helps us endure, and often eventually is a blessing. When taking care of our parents, we learned to be ‘in the moment’. Until we learned that, we were often frustrated and tired. Then patience came with many wonderful moments that I cherish now. Hope you and everyone here on Zenny’s site have a wonderful day today. with love, Elizabeth
PS Baby roadrunner showed up for his bedtime place in the cedar tree last night – he’s also teaching us patience, as he’s showing up a bit later each evening.
Kathy
Dear Elizabeth,
Always so good to hear from you. Yes, we learn a lot from waiting. Something we don’t really like to do! Have a wonderful Tuesday and please greet all the critters. Stay well, safe and happy.

Dear Kathy. As you may know the British are good at queues.I am not one of them.Sadly, I have no patience at all.A lovely day here after some overnight showers did you do a rain dance in CA as I have heard Boo is getting his tootsies wet.He still goes for therapy I do remember him having an op on his leg.I put a message in for Fubu it is well over 2 months since he posted now and it is very quiet on Joey’s FB tooI cannot see Theba being on holidays that long.
Mother Theresa is off to India next month. That Steven Woofle has quit UKIP and reported Mark Hookem to the French Police. So much for forgive and forget.
Our Olympians are parading in London today saw Nick Skeleton in Manchester yesterday.I saw the video of the pom pals Dr Jill is so good at training them.Felix is busy patrolling her platform and keeping it pest free.I loved Zoe’s new bow.One of the first dogs who Mango put in a wheelchair has died.He had an op and never woke up.She must be getting excited about her trip.If you look at my link I never thought Chromie was only worth $30,000 and has now won over $12 million in prize money.I remember when Danedream won the Arc and Snow Fairy was 3rd they were only worth €10,400 between the 2 of them!Have a lovely day and enjoy the rain!Love and hugs to you,Kisses to Angel Holly,Nikko and Sugar.SheenaXOXO
Kathy
Dear Sheena,
We didn’t have much rain at all. The sun came out and it was dry the rest of the day. It’s supposed to be in the 90s soon. That’s our problem…we get a few drops of rain then it gets really hot and any benefit evaporates. Boo did get wet feet. He is in the Bay area so his weather is totally different for ours. Wish we would hear something from Kimberly and Fubu. I would not want to have to keep Mother Theresa’s schedule. Grueling! That Steven/Mark battle is fierce! I hope your Olympians thoroughly enjoy their parades. Dr. Jill’s poms are stars, Dexter, too! Pests don’t stand a chance with Felix on duty. Zoe always is fashion forward. Sorry to hear of the death of Mango’s wheelchair recipient. Uh yes, I imagine Mango and Mommy will have a ball in NYC. I will check out your link on Chromie. Truly a great! LOVE Chromie. I wish you a lovely day as well. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Angel Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy XOXOXOXOX

As much as I admire our flat racehorses today we remember a ‘real’champion. He became a national treasure.Red Rum died this day at 8am due to the infirmities of old age.A few hours later he was laid to rest at the place he called home by the winning post at Aintree. His racing career lasted 11 long years.Bred cheaply to became a sprinter he endured much punishment in his races before he became the King of Aintree. His record at Liverpool may never be equalled 3 wins and 2 seconds. When he won his historical 3rd he was already 12 years old.Carrying 11st 8lbs he skipped up the long run-in after 4 and 1/2 miles and 30 fences like a 2yr old.I will always remember in the space of 3 weeks in 1974 he carried 12st and jumped 57 fences and travelled over 8 miles to win both the Aintree and Scottish Nationals. He achieved his triumphs against the odds.He survived the year of the cough, one of the worst diseases of the foot.As his trainer ‘Ginger’ McCain said once he survived in spite of people. His courage knew no bounds and so 21 years after his death I pay tribute to this phenomenon.RIP RED.Love SheenaX

Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Sheena,
They take great care of Man O’War’s statue which is as it should be.
Way back in July 1977, my great aunt, cousin and I were returning from a cross-country trip to California and spent the better part of a day trying to locate Man O’War’s statue/grave only to find that he had been moved in advance of completion of the Kentucky Horse Park. Since the Park was under construction, we couldn’t view him so we traveled on. I was disappointed, but one day I hope to get there again. My aunt and cousin have passed away, but I remember Aunt Mary telling the story of our adventure looking for Man O’War’s grave and then in late afternoon, deciding to drive from there back home to south central Virginia — we made it by 11 PM that night, tired but glad to be in Clarksville again. That was a lovely trip that summer; the southern route out to California and back home by way of the middle — good times.
