Happy Friday!
We’re pleased to share photos of fans Jackie Camacho and Allison Folkman visiting Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm. As the winners of NYRA’s Meet the Legendary Ladies sweepstakes, Jackie and Allison received a trip to Kentucky to meet both Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta and a two-night stay at Stonestreet Farm.
Jackie became a fan of Zenyatta and watched many of her races with her sister who has since passed. She takes the little pig figurine pictured here on all of her adventures as a way to honor her sister.
The next opportunity to win an audience with Queen Z is just around the corner… Stay tuned for details about the upcoming 2016 Zenyatta.com Celebration.
Enjoy!

Zenyatta must miss the roaring crowds from her brilliant racing career. She always seems to be so happy to meet any visitors she gets. She loved the attention at the track so much she always entertained with her Queen’s Dance. Such a sweet girl and lived by so many who never got to see her race. Always enjoy seeing her pictures so much. ♡♡♡

Horse interest stories from Toronto in advance of the Canadian International at Woodbine. Dartmouth seems to be a big star there. The Queen Elizabeth is getting videos of his training. He’s enjoying himself. May be eating up the turf course before the race. However I’d like to see Danish Dynaformer or The Pizza Man win. Rain tomorrow in the forecast with 70 degrees.

When he is not busy chowing down on the turf course, Dartmouth is telling the world that he wants to win. It might be on the cards for the racing gods to give victory to his owner who, at 90, is making her first bid to win. We gotta admire that.

Lucky women to meet Zen.I have been trying to get away from the Thoroughbred breeding and racing operation I work and manage here in Manitoba, Canada. As soon as I can find someone responsible to stay here and run this place.I will be coming down to Kentucky to see all the big Thoroughbred farms and meet some of my favorite horses that I have followed for years , Honour those who are no longer with us from 50 years ago or more. The rich History of horses and horse racing at its best in Kentucky. .Hoping to see Zen and Lanes End…

October 16 Cherokee Devotional
Sweet is the peace and serenity of the early morning before anything makes a harsh sound or shakes the morning dew. Two deer feed along the woodland path, and a red leaf or two float down from the woodbine. Autumn begins to settle in and the cool quiet of morning mists soothe the spirit.
Human spirits need a lift now and then. But it is not the things outside a person that turn on the light or heal the soul. Only the heart can do that. The heart is the core, a place where words, beliefs, and images are stored. Life springs from this place and rejects the darkness, no matter how many times it presents itself.
Be like the flower that opens to the light and closes when touched by darkness. The choice is yours-the darkest night cannot touch the bloom that will not open to it.
All their wisdom and knowledge came to them in dreams.

Zenny, you look beautiful. Have missed you and everyone here on the website. So glad to be back home. Congratulations to Jackie and Allison – what a thrill for both of you! Our little roadrunner is growing and is still roosting in his usual place on the cedar tree, and the baby bunnies showed up for sunset snack last night. Our neighbors horses are healthy and out in the far field every morning. So all is very good here. Look forward to catching up on everyone’s news. with love, Elizabeth

Dear Marshall and Kathy,
Thanks so much for your welcome home. Last night, we were on the way home from our study group – it was very dark, and we had to swerve on the highway as the pickup in front of us ‘lost’ a big overstuffed chair that fell off their pick-up bed and onto the highway right in front of us. It hit our 4-runner – there was no time to avoid it – although my husband’s quick reaction did help to slow us down. It was quite a jolt! But everyone on the highway could tell what happened, so no everyone slowed down behind us, and no one was hurt. God is always looking after all us. I really appreciate everyone here on Zenny’s website – we all keep each other our prayers. I’m so thankful for Zenny and everyone in her ‘family’ and here in her website family. Pray God’s blessings for you all and Zenny, her ‘boys’, the Moss’s and Sherriffs and everyone who loves her. Such a wonderful assurance to know we are all here for each other.
with much love, Elizabeth
Kathy
Dear Elizabeth,
Oh my, that 4-runner incident is scary to even read about! I thank the Lord that you and your husband are okay!

Dear Sheena,
I love Angela Lansbury! She is a very fine actress and lady. “Murder, She Wrote” has long been a favorite of mine, too. She is the definition of versatile: outstanding actress of film, stage(including Broadway), television, and she can sing, also some comedy. She is quite simply, wonderful!
Happy Birthday to Dame Angela Lansbury and continued good health!

ZENYATTA!
My goodness but it’s been ages since I wrote much of anything here, but it is only because it has been such a stressful time in my life since last May. Topped off by discovering that my sweet cat, Minn, had breast cancer. Honestly, I never knew that cats could get breast cancer and I know a fair amount about dog & cat health issues! Anyway, Minn had a double mastectomy in October and for a lady is 13.5 years old, she came through it like a champ. We caught it early but, although Minn is cavorting around like a kitten, I’m still nursing the absolute shock that this could happen to her.
So it came as a wonderful distraction to see a new Zenny post and I even had a good chuckle at how camera-savvy our girl is. There are only two photos here in which she doesn’t appear to be looking at the camera!!!!!
It must have been a blissful few days for these “lady legends” seeing both Rachel & Zenny. Memories for a lifetime being made here, for certain. And Zenny looks in the pink….and I do hope we find ourselves celebrating pink come foaling time because I do long for a filly, although I would love any baby of my Big Girl.
As autumn comes to Montreal — very, very slowly, I might add — I’m getting out my winter clothes and sighing. Even though I’m a native Montrealer, I am not a fan of the winter. Beautiful as it is, here it can overstay its welcome to the point that you want to burn your down coat!!!!
My rescue dog, Daisy Devine, has become a fully-registered therapy dog and I’m busting with pride. She had to pass a three-hour exam and she was the best of seven other candidates by far. She was absolutely bomb-proof in the face of wheelchairs, characters acting out as though they had serious illnesses, pots being thrown behind her, meeting someone dressed up as a doctor who had their back to her, walking through tons of human traffic without bumping into anyone & so forth. So we’re now visiting a senior residence several times per month and I may take on a rehab facility near me where the patients are in a very bad way.
And I continue to champion Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary where two mustang mares I returned to freedom from the BLM now live and whom I will be going to visit at the end of this months, before the folks at Black Hills turn them loose to roam over 11,000 acres with 600 other wild horses/mustangs. (They are currently in a huge field but Susan Watt, the Director of Black Hills, frees captured mustangs in stages as she wants to be sure that they can fend for themselves and join one of the mustang herds.) I’m really excited to visit Maya & Tassy @ Black Hills, and to meet Susan and take in the beauty of South Dakota.
We’ve spoken about “acts of human kindness” here so often. Susan Watt & I had never met when I first saw Maya in a BLM paddock at an online adoption. But Canadians can’t bid on the horses listed. And I knew that I couldn’t get Maya & Tassy to Canada because I haven’t a property where they could be free and happy and with other mustangs. So I contacted Susan and by phone + through emails, she trusted me to make good on my intention to buy Maya and she put in a bid for her while I hastened to send her money through PayPal. We got Maya — for a mere $125 USD — and I had enough money to also buy Maya’s BFF, Tassy. Then a FB friend from the USA who I also have never met agreed to send a yearly donation for one of the two girls to Black Hills, while I subsidize the other, since I didn’t want to dump two more horses on Black Hills, which runs as a non-profit. Susan arranged for transport from Canon City to Hot Springs SD and the girls arrived there last March.
So here you have three strangers who stood together to save Maya & Tassy from a life in captivity. What a story, right? (And the girls are named in memory of Lady Secret’s son, Bear Witness (by Skip Away) who was pulled out of a feedlot but died 8 weeks later from the abuses of humans. Maya is MAYA LITTLE BEAR + Tassy — named by the young couple who tried to save Bear Witness — is FELICITAS WITNESS.)
Love & hugs to all my Zen family here and peppermint kisses to my Big Girl and her boys. Z Princess and Little Boy you are in my heart forever.

Dear Abigail,
We have missed you, and it is so great to hear from you. I am so glad that your Minn has recovered and is doing well. Congratulations to Daisy Devine on becoming certified as a therapy dog! That is impressive indeed. Kudos to you and Daisy D. for the good work you are doing at the senior residence, too.
More Kudos to you, Susan Watt and the FB friend for saving Maya and Tassy, and for supporting their care at Black Hills. Wonderful story of caring and love with a very happy ending.
Thanks for the update, and take care.
Hugs and Love

Dear Abigail.Congratulations to Daisy Devine on becoming a therapy dog and so sorry to hear about Minn but glad to hear she has recovered.A neighbour’s dog called Kayla had breast cancer back in the 70’s.She used to visit us a lot coming in through the garden gate.Sadly it was discovered too late in her case and we were heartbroken when she was PTS on may 28th 1978.I hear a lot about the Black Hills wild horse sanctuary on Jim’s FB.Kudos to the three of you for saving Maya and Tassy.Love and hugs Sheena

Update on Bob, the horse rescued from flood waters:
I checked the Cumberland County Animal Control website only to find that Bob was no longer listed there. I called them yesterday to find out if he had been adopted. He has been placed in a foster home at present, but they have had lots of inquiries about adopting him so they feel he will definitely be placed soon. In addition to being handsome, the shelter employee I talked to said Bob was a very sweet horse, also. I just needed to know if he was okay, and it all sounds good. YAY!!
Bob sounds like someone we know — good-looking AND sweet!

Erupt just won the Canadian International. The Queen Elizabeth’s horse was second. That ends Ryan Moore’s lock on winning. Idaho did not place for Coolmore. Best in the World, same thing in the EP Taylor. No grade 1s for O’Brien from Canada. Bobby Frankel is hanging on to that record, at least for now.

Dartmouth has a huge personality. He was very popular during his week at Woodbine. They will have to find someone else now to keep the turf under control. Too bad Moore was not aboard today. Hopefully, Dartmouth will race again next year.
