Happy Preakness Day!

Zenyatta and her colt got to see Ann and Jerry this week! Alys took photos of their visit, and Mike Cline and Charles Campbell stopped by.

Also, at the end of this post, see a conversation with Ann and Charles about the night of the foaling. They discuss Zenyatta’s inclination towards motherhood and the special bond she shares with her foals.

    No Triple Crown winner this year, again! *sighs*

    Well, I think Baby Red is going to be the Next TC Winner, so that’s okay.

    Plus, the race went safely, and that’s the most important thing of all.

      Judy, I agree that if Orb couldn’t win I am happy that Gary and Wayne did. I wore my Tabasco Cat hat but it brought luck to Wayne who trained TC rather than Orb coming out of the one post.

      Hope all the horse came out okay.

    Alas, the drought continues. Congratulations to Oxbow, Gary Stevens, D. Wayne Lukas, and all connections!
    Happy for the winners, but SO disappointed, too. Love you, Orb and Shug!
    I am doubtful that a Triple Crown can be achieved again — and I am an optimist! Maybe next time.
    The best thing is that everybody is home safe.

    Great Preakness race, I’m slightly disappointed the way Orb ran but you can’t make a horse run if he doesn’t want too.

    I had to come take a look at our best horse ever. Zenny and her baby look great. I think 13Z or should we call him Z’sBandit is changing colors on us. He is darn cute no matter the color. I hope to see some new photos of Coz soon to please LE.

    Thank goodness I found this new post to cheer me up! I was on the floor throwing a hissy-fit after watcing Orb lose. Thank you LE, Mrs M, Charles, and Alys for the pics and video, what a beautiful loving mare she is……..perfect momma. Maybe that video will quell those complaining about her being a baby factory……..she loves being a momma.

    I guess we will have to wait for COZ to get our TC winner.

      Just read your post on page 13. Yes, Pulpit is gone way too soon. Wonderful to see his girl win so impressively.

      You are so right. I look forward to my visits to my Charlie and the girls so much. Saw them this afternoon. They are all engrossed in the new grass and enjoying he beautiful weather. Just so peaceful to see them and know they are so happy. Angela has been careful to limit their grazing on the new grass. She takes great care with them.

      Charlie and the horses have lifted my spirits more than I can say. They are the best listeners.

      Yes, Z is such a natural at motherhood. There’s nothing she doesn’t do well.

    I was kind of bummed about Orb (no Triple Crown again) but happy for Gary Stevens, D Wayne Lukas and Oxbow’s connections. Then I checked in here and Hoofray! what a joyful sight to see Zenny and red prince and Ann talking with Charles.
    It is just the most wonderful gesture to share your beloved mare and her foals with us time after time.
    There are no new words for thank you Jerry, Ann, Lane’s End and all on Team Z.

    The photos & videos are wonderful. Thank you, Ann, Jerry & Team Zenyatta for them. Zenny fans treasure these glimses into her life.
    I’m bummed about the Preakness, but, that’s racing. I doubt we’ll see a Triple Crown winner in our lifetimes. However, there is always hope–hope springs eternal. I think it’s part of why we love racing.

    THANK YOU Ann and Jerry for sharing this, it’s magnificent!!! Z is a perfect mother and truly loves her babes and even though I miss her ooohhh so much racing and she’ll never be repaced in my heart, she’s sooo happy now and that makes me sooo happy;) xoZ!!!

    Even with the goggles I don’t think Zapit is graying out.

    Think he is changing into a deeper color; maybe more of Zenny’s shade. He may end up liver chestnut.

    Whatever color he becomes he’s a looker.

    Thanks for sharing. Didn’t get to see Zenyatta when she last won at Del Mar, but enjoyed watching other races. Horses are wonderful!!!

    Zenny is such a good mom – it shows!!! New colt is just precious. Is Queen Z already bred back? Who this time please? Thank you for continuing to share her with all of us. She gets more beautiful each year. XOXO

    Always good to come see pictures of the Queen all dappled out. So sad to not get a triple crown winner (again!) but so thankful to have been watching Zenyatta when she ran so I can say I’ve seen greatness. Do hope this baby gets a good name. All good racehorses need a good solid name. Probably why Orb couldn’t be a triple crown winner. Here’s hoping this guy prevails!

    Are we spoiled or what! The pics and video are precious. If anyone wonders if Zenny likes being a mother this video and the pictures tell it all. She is a nurturer and her youngsters will learn much from her. Whenever we see Ann with Zenny, the tears automatically come…what a bond they have, sweet and very special.

    I think one of Zenny’s youngsters will give us the next triple crown. She remains the most gorgeous creature I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the video and photos. They are awesome.
