Happy Preakness Day!
Zenyatta and her colt got to see Ann and Jerry this week! Alys took photos of their visit, and Mike Cline and Charles Campbell stopped by.
Also, at the end of this post, see a conversation with Ann and Charles about the night of the foaling. They discuss Zenyatta’s inclination towards motherhood and the special bond she shares with her foals.
Enjoy!

I would like to say “Thank You” again on this Memorial Day to all our Vets, current men and women serviing and their families for the sacrifices they have made and continue to make daily for all of us. I was disappointed to see only three people in our neighborhood have flags out……this was very disheartening, but hopefully they will see my decorations and think about it for the next holiday. Love to all on this special day!
Hugs and kisses to beautiful Mama Zen and her gorgeous boys, hope to see some more pics of Coz too. Auntie Sue

I will join you in saying Thanks and in spending time reflecting on the sacrifices made so we could have the freedom’s bounty that we enjoy. Unfortunately I can’t put my flag up today because the house painters took down my mounting bracket when they painted and I’m not sure where it is or if I could rig it back up. Maybe I just need to go get a little flag!

I join in those thoughts. Where would we be without our brave men and women who fight for our freedoms we enjoy everyday?

Sheena and JudyB. Read that Ruby will still race from time to time for Paul Nicholls, but no longer as the stable jockey. He said that he wants to spend more time in Ireland with his family. Will ride mostly for Willie Mullins. His recent rides of Quevega and Hurricane Fly were rather brilliant. Mullins’ fortunes are clearly on the ascendant.

Sue, in response to your comment about lack of decorations. It has been pouring rain here in central Indiana but our flag is flying. I sometimes feel quilty about having the flag out in the rain. This goes back to my grade school days. It seems to me we only flew the flag in fair weather when I was in school. And I remember it was always taken down at dusk and rehung the next morning.

Dear JanD:
The results chart linked below from Sarbonne’s race today does not list any horses claimed in the race. Sue Noel/Sun Valley,ID
Hope everyone has had a good Memorial Day! The store let me off to sing the National Anthem for our local observance at the cemetary here. It is put on by our local American Legion Post and is always very moving. We had a very special fly-over today–the Mountain Home Air Force Base, which usually provides planes for this was unable to do so,because of the budget cuts. The Legion contacted the WarHawk Museum,in Nampa, and they sent up two P51 Mustangs from WWII–they were just awesome!! Nothing like the throaty sound of those engines!! I can remember years ago, when I first moved here and went to the services, there were few attendees, mostly older folk. The attendance has been steadily growing in the past few years, with younger people attending–and bringing their children–showing them what Memorial Day is really about!! It is very gratifying to see!!
Sue is safely back from England, having had a wonderful time and having great adventures! Can’t wait to see all of her pictures!!She said the homes they stayed in were fabulous and the whole thing was really great! The weather wasn’t perfect, but she had come prepared. You devoted Hovis fans will remember his talking about his Mom buying him Likits. She brought some of them home for Barnaby and Traveller, breaking them out this morning. She said Barnaby was ecstatic over the apple flavored one!! She brought me my favorite tea from Harrod’s,their own brand of Gold Rush Golden Assam. She also brought each of us the cutest tea aprons–pale green with pink and white teapots in varying designs, interspersed with the Harrod’s logo, all over them, with lovely pink ribbon ties!!Love it!!
Sue’s collie,Gracie, stayed with me evenings and nights, and weekends, while she was gone and did very well, she likes my cats and they know she will not hurt them,so they were all fine.Had fun with both Barnaby and Traveller, grooming them both to look pretty when Sue got home–Barnaby simply LOVES to be groomed!! He doesn’t even get tied–I just drape his lead around a fencepost and he stands there as though he were tied–even when I am cleaning his sheath or combing his tail–though getting the snarls out of his tail is NOT his favorite thing!!
My home computer has been down for almost two weeks,I shudder to think how many e-mails there will be when my monitor is working again!!! Eeeeeek! I keep getting a NO Signal message on the monitor and have beeen crawling around on the floor looking at the “spaghetti” of wires under the desk, plugging and unplugging things–maybe my monitor has really died this time!! Sorry if anyone has sent me something from here and not been answered!!
@ Trina–Hope you got my phone message for your birthday!!Barnaby wanted to make sure his favorite Auntie heard from us!!
Sweet dreams to all—especially Queen Z,Coz and Little Big Red!!!

Frankel’s brother (Bullet Train) to stand in Australia
ninemsn 15:29 AEST Tue May 28 2013
Bullet Train, a three-quarter brother to the undefeated Frankel, will stand at stud in Australia this spring.
Bowness Stud has secured Bullet Train, a Group Three winner by legendary sire Sadler’s Wells, to stand the southern hemisphere season.
Studmaster John North said he was an exciting prospect for Australian breeders.
“We’re really excited to be standing a horse of his quality as he is by one of the best sires of sires in the world in Sadler’s Wells from an outstanding broodmare in Kind (a daughter of Danehill) and of course he’s a three-quarter brother to Frankel,” North said.
