Happy Thursday!
Our favorite colt has new paddock-mates this week. 12Z and his two best buds joined five other horses in a 40 acre paddock. All are the same age and from the same barn. There are two fillies in the group, and they both like to hang out with the new guys.
Alys sent these pictures for us. She says 12Z is just like his mom, always coming over to check out the camera!
We also wanted to share this video from our visit earlier this month. It was shot early on a gray morning, right after turnout.

Z Peeps:
Z Fortune died this morning from a heart attack. He had colic surgery on Aug 11th, but had been experiencing some ups and downs , he was only 7 yrs old. He was adopted out in May 2011 by a loving family. RIP Z Fortune, this is very sad news. I remember him him in the 2008 Kentucky Derby, the beautiful grey boy.
This has certainly been a rough year for our TB’s!
Z Fortune may you meet old and new friends in those great green pastures, and sunny skies in heaven, and your pain, suffering and uncomfortableness is now a thing of the past.
With love

Judy D;
I am sorry if I offended you, I didn’t mean to offend anyone. My comment was to him/or her that maybe he/she doesn’t have enough to do in their lives. I know many people of all ages live a very productive life, therefore, maybe h/she is NOT leading a productive life, and could find better ways to spend his/her time. I am truly sorry if I insulted you, that was not my intention. I just felt hurt that this person felt the need to bash all of us and this site, and I reacted, but please be clear it was only directed towards him/her and no one else.
I sincerely apologize if you were offended or insulted, I hope you will forgive me.

MEGA thanks to Team Z for the new photos and video. Don’t ever feel like you need to . . well . . you know . . .cut the video short. We could watch them for HOURS!!! I’ve never had an opportunity to see horses playing “live” so this is just amazing to me. We are SO appreciative of your efforts to keep us up to date!!
Joanna from TX
Great pictures! Good to hear that there are a couple of fillies in the gang; I thought I’d read somewhere that the sexes weren’t mixed and maybe at some point that’s true. Thanks for sharing these with us!

Pati, and everyone who has lost a pet. I still miss our dog,Suzy, evern though she has been gone for 30 some years. What a dog. She would let us put hats on her, and pose her for birthday pictures. She would get Gaines burgers and we got cake. She would get up on the couch when we were gone and jump off when we came in the door, wagging her tail and looking guilty. She would get out and follow her nose and get lost. Wow, I miss her. You all have my condolences.
Terry Crow GP
Barbara-Wonderful post. I miss my old basset hound terribly. I will be sitting and thoughts of her will roll through my head. In her case, though, I got the Gaines burgers and she got the cake.
Max
TerryC. Know how you must feel. The unconditional love of a good dog or horse is a wonderful thing. Even the butt kickers like Big D hold very special places in our hearts.
Terry Crow GP
Unconditional is the word, Max. That is something you never forget, be it animal or human.

Terry,
One day when my dad got tipsy, he fried a Gaines burger, put some cheese on it and a bun. Said it was the best cheeseburger he ever had… LOL.

Barbara,
I have a photo album of most of my pets. I cry when I look at it, but always remember the unconditional love and joy they brought me. I will never forget them. My cat will be 16 in Nov. He is pretty healthy, but I can’t image life without him.
Ann
Our pets really make a house a home.
I have a framed photo of my childhood bulldog, Colonel,in my home. He saved me from an attacker, on one late afternoon walk. I was 12, but knew the guy following me was not cool. The guy came at me from behind, put his hand over my mouth. Colonel proceeded to bite him and tore into him. I was fine,Colonel ate steaks when Pops could afford it!
I have NEVER lived w/ out a dog.
Barbara
Great video. Love this boy, Prince Z is just beautiful and elegant as his mom. Thank you for sharing. I love seeing the chiseled definition of their legs and muscles in the pictures. Just beautiful. Couldnt think of a better way to start my day.
Ann
