Happy Thursday!
Our favorite colt has new paddock-mates this week. 12Z and his two best buds joined five other horses in a 40 acre paddock. All are the same age and from the same barn. There are two fillies in the group, and they both like to hang out with the new guys.
Alys sent these pictures for us. She says 12Z is just like his mom, always coming over to check out the camera!
We also wanted to share this video from our visit earlier this month. It was shot early on a gray morning, right after turnout.

CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS
Our dear friend Marlene Dodge got a late start raising funds to rescue 9 Quarter Horses in the Nevada feed lot who will be shipped to slaughter Sept. 9. Her website is locked up so she has been sending this plea out via email to those of us who are on her email list. She needs to raise $5,200 to rescue these horses. The group includes some really nice younger horses that have been started in training and some well-trained older horses that are ready for riding. If you know anyone who is a trainer, this would be an excellent opportunity to get a nice horse for very little money per horse. The website can still take your donation but you will be unable to see the photos of the horses unless you are on her distribution list. This website problem puts these horses in a life or death struggle. Please go to http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.com and donate what you can to help Marlene rescue these nice horses. You can reach Marlene at 831-386-0801 to have photos of the horses emailed to you. Pricing for individual horses ranges from $450 to $900, depending on training. Again, please do what you can to help in this difficult situation.
Your humble J

Hello all, how is our gorgeous girl doing? Miss hearing from her so much. I hope you are having fun with your new paddock mates and are discussing so many interesting things. Think of you everyday and hope you are happy. If 12Z is only half of what you are and have been he will be an outstanding TB.
Love hugs and kisses to you and all your connections

CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS: FUND-RAISING STILL NEEDED TO RESCUE QUARTERS FROM SLAUGHTER
Thank you all for your interest in what is going on in this rescue. We have helped Marlene Dodge raise nearly $1,200 toward the goal of $5,200 to rescue 9 dear Quarter Horses from a feedlot in Fallon, NV. They will be sent to a Canadian slaughterhouse Sunday, Sept. 9, if all the funds are not raised by then. These horses range from the very young just starting out in life and training to experienced ranch horses in their prime. The economy is leading ranchers to cull their herds and instead of doing the right thing by finding them other homes or reaching out to rescues, they sell them to slaughter and a hideous experience of being locked in a trailer with dozens of other horses packed like sardines with no stops for anything until reaching their destination, which is a house of horrors and being butchered alive. Please go to http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.com to donate today or visit the site Marlene set up especially for this rescue to see photos of these dear horses that need our help: http://www.wrercalltoaction.webs.com. You can also donate at this new site. I will keep you all updated as Marlene sends me updates. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your caring and generosity for our dear equine friends. If we think of every dollar we send as a prayer for Paynter, that might help with that pain as well. Thank you all,
Your humble J

CALLING ALL Z’ISTERS:
The new web address Marlene set up for this rescue does not work. Please continue to use the http://www.valleyviewranchequinerescue.webs.org site to make your donations. The donation part of the site works. Thank you all so much.

I stand corrected. It does work but I gave the wrong address. It is:
http://www.vvrercalltoaction.webs.com
I misread the vv for w. So so sorry.

Kathie
I still suggest that his name should be Z’s Solar Storm because he is going to be a whirlwind.
Judith Stock
Kathie,
According to the Jockey Club Registry, as of 19 September, the name Solar Storm has belonged to another horse since 2008…………..personally, I think Zendini tells it all!
Cheers to all and VERY safe trips.

I think they should name him Z’s Calipso I don’t know why I just thought of that name! Kind catchy though right?

Really enjoyed the photos. Z12 is growing fast and looks beautiful just like his mom. Thanks to all of you who work so hard to keep us informed,
Rebecca
Wow! Hasn’t he grown?! I can’t wait to see him in training and going on to be a star! He looks very happy with all the others, and I’m glad he and his mom are doing well! All the best to you and the horses! :)

As Jerry Moss is best friends with my husband’s cousin, Jerry Weissman, I think
I should put in the name we like best for the colt—
it is Zenny’s Boy. I can hear it now as he takes the lead at the finish line.
AND, IT’s ZENNY’S BOY by a neck!!!!
Sharon Tupper, New York
That is a great video of babyZ playing. He has grown so much and he will definitely be a showstopper when he gets to the track. Love the updates on Zenny and her colt!!!!
