Happy New Year Zenyatta Fans!
We hope everyone had a joyous holiday season filled with friends and family. As you may have noticed, Team Z took some time off to celebrate and to make plans for the coming year. We’ve been dreaming up blog features, new Zenyatta products, and eagerly anticipating the birth of Zenyatta’s third foal.
In the meantime, Zenyatta and 13Z have been greeting the winners of our Zenyatta.com Celebration drawing with enthusiasm. We’ll share Alys’ photos from these visits in a future blog post.
Before the holidays we asked you to show us how you’re using your Celebration Stickers. A few of our favorite submissions are below. Thanks Susan, Mary Ellen, Pam, and Cathleen for your photos!
We always welcome feedback from the fans. Send photos of your Zenyatta products in use or suggestions for the future to fans@zenyatta.com. We can’t reply to every email, but we do read everything!
We approach the new year with a sense of gratitude for this loving community. We’re excited to see what this year will bring, and we hope you are too!
-Team Z

Rules are made to keep us safe and honest and well-organized-but many of them become more important than the purpose for which they were written. We have a tendency to make rules only to fall under the power of them. If rules and laws are made and have governed us for any length of time, it is generally thought that there can be no exceptions-even to the point of being ridiculous. When a rule becomes so binding that it will not allow common sense and honest action to help the people to do the right thing, it is time to make a change. Rules are made to help us do our best, or i da tli ni gv si, in Cherokee. Rules are made to serve human beings-not human beings made to serve the rules. We need the rules, but wisdom as well.

Dearest Zenyatta,
Now as the New Year has started my thoughts turn to you more and more. I hope baby number three is growing strongly and that you are well and happy.
My prayers are always with you, sweet Queen.

FYI Zenyatta visit. Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but in the “Forum” there is a nice post from one of the lucky winners who visited Zenyatta. It’s titled “My visit with Zenyatta and 13Z.” There’s a link to an article she wrote on her wonderful experience and pictures of lovely Zenyatta and handsome 13Z.

Dear Karen:
Thank you. I will go to the Forum and check it out. Love and Hugs, JB

Thank you Karen. What a joy to see Zenny and her boy. He sure is a big handsome dude!

Thank you. Looks like Zenny had fun! Such a nice report about her visit, great photos!

@Sue Noel–so glad to see your post. Yes, we’ve had the same experience with a mirrored arena. Too funny! Hugs.

I hope you all had good holidays. I want to recommend a program to everyone: The Legendary White Stallions. It is about the breeding, socialization, and training of the Lippizaner horses. It is simply amazing. The scenes of these horses running free through the Alpine meadows are incredibly beautiful. This showed on our local educational channel. If your local channel doesn’t carry it, it can be seen online for free at PBS.com under the series Nature.
lynn martin
I saw it, twice. Really well done. Made me go put in a request from Netflix…Miracle of the White Stallions! Cant wait to get it. On my bucket list is going over to see them preform live.
My mom asked me today what is up with Coz. I realize he is in training, but wonder why we have heard nothing. Is he big like his mama, therefore being moved along slowly? Is he doing well, preparing to go with a trainer at a track? I had hoped we would get updates occasionally.
HeidiK, Vallejo,Ca
There’s a video and pics of him a few blogs ago. He’s a big boy and doing very well in training. I’m almost positive that he’s going to John.

A setback for Europe’s top 2 yr old filly Chriselliam, she’s being treated for a poisoned foot. A favourite for the Guineas she won at the BC last year.Chrysanthemum’s owners declined permission for a photo of Frankel’s colt, a American bloodstock agency bought her last year, her owners are unknown according to the daily mail. We’ll have to wait for other babies. Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. This is upsetting news about Chriselliam. How did this happen? How ill is she?
This new Frankel foal now has an even greater aura, a mystery owner. Very interesting.
judy berube from Rhode Island
Dear Sheena:
Sad to hear about another two year old injured. Hope she pulls through.
Wow, I wonder why the mystery surrounding the owners of Chrysanthemum and her foal. Love and Hugs, JB
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max She seems to be responding well to treatment, expect we will hear more in time as you know our Willie Carson is a part owner. I was looking forward to a pic of the new “royal” baby but I suppose we’ll have to wait for the other foals only 125 of them!!We are sure to get one of Midday when she gives birth next month I think.Hugs Sheena
Max
Sheena. Yes, I agree that they will show a photo or video of the new foal of Midday with Frankel. He or she will be good looking. Midday is a daughter of Brad Pitt.
I am also interested in Kind’s new baby. Galileo is the father. Kind and Midday had travelled together to Ireland in 2012 to visit Galileo. When they decided to breed Midday to Frankel in 2013, Kind went to Ireland on her own. Kind and Midday were great friends.
Max
Sheena. Did you see that Toormore got an award? Middleham Racing is getting more and more famous. Toormore and the Moose.
Sue Noel/Sun Valley,ID
@ Debbie G.–THANK YOU SO MUCH for the wonderful surprise package!! I had ordered some things from Amazon which I picked up the same day and they had a similar type of box so thought yours was part of that order and it sat for two days before I got around to opening it!!! I was so thrilled so see the great Derby glass!! Would have called last night but with our time difference I was afraid I’d be waking you up!! Will call you this weekend and catch up!!
Glad so many of you liked the story of Barnaby and the mirror–he really IS such a character!! You can see the look in his eyes when he is puzzling something out–you can visualize the “wheels” turning in his head as he is thinking!!

The young O’Brien talks of his relationship with Nick. Such a sad ending for this great, brave horse. He had courage to the very end.

Such a shame about St. Nicholas Abbey, only 7, and after all he’d done.
sheena.davies(wales)
Dear Max A lovely Tribute from young Joseph,St Nick was so very brave I get tearful just thinking about him and all he suffered.
Yes, I knew about Toormore Moose’s followers are still rising !Have you seen Sire De Grugy’s twitter, he’s getting very excited about Saturday Free the Moose!! neigh Sheena
Max
Sheena. I’m still in shock over Nick. I cannot forget those hopeful videos of his treatment. I really believed that he would recover. Incredibly sad. Was thinking of Thomas Chippendale too. Also incredibly sad. Same for Caixa.
The new mom Chrysanthemum is still listed as owned by Coolmore. I guess that we will have to wait to see who is the new owner.
Twitter numbers continue to climb. Free the Moose! Neigh!

Judy B.,
Yes, thank you, I did see it and so hope it comes true. Honor Code looks like the biggest hope, but WinStar has a winning baby too in Commissioner. So hope and pray this happens for my great Indy in his waning years. David Ingordio sure had wonderful things to say about Honor Code and of course we all know who he found for the Mosses, ha, ha. hugs

Dear Max Diolch yn calon!! Poor Hovis surrounded by accident prone ladies! We all love him.Have just heard The Queen has a new great-granddaughter Zara Phillips has given birth to a 7lbs 12oz baby girl earlier today. Huge congratulations to Zara and Mike a future playmate for baby Bruce!!Hugs Sheena. Our boy looks super in red!
Kathy
Hi Sheena,
Wow…that’s a big baby girl! Congratulations to Zara and her husband and of course all the other royals. Big family!
Hugs, Kathy.

Dear Sheena:
Congrats to the Royal Family on the birth of the little Princess. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
JudyB. This baby girl is not a princess like Bruce is a prince. She is a member of the royal family, but she has no title like her mother and father. She’s Miss Tindall. There was a move many years ago to restrict royal titles and therefore financial support for the royal family from the taxpayer. I seem to recall that her granny, Princess Anne, also decided that her own children would not get any titles.

Dear Max:
Thanks for this info; was not aware of that. Love and Hugs, JB
Max
Sheena. Last week Hovis stomped on his father’s foot. Now this. He does suit red. That blue and red blanket that Steve was wearing would also look good.

Most changes are too subtle to be noticed. The fog, u gv ha dv, that blankets the early morning, hangs so thick in the woods that the hills beyond cannot be seen. Then, without us seeing it, it is there no longer. So it is in our relationships with other people. We do not understand the moods and changes that work their silent influence on us when we least expect it. We react to the moods of others like we do to the fog, not realizing what has happened until the silent influence has gone. When our feelings are so in command, it is difficult to change the circumstances around us. All the experiences of a lifetime have influenced our decisions and made us react in a way that destroyed something that may never be rebuilt. When the fog lifts it takes away the veil so that we can see a long way. But the inner-fog hides life and love and friendship-until we change it.
I am satisfied…I am not afraid to avow the deed that I have done…I am willing to bury the tomahawk and smoke the pipe of peace…

Dear Sheena,
Sympathy to Ray and Joey on their losses. The population across the Rainbow Bridge is certainly enormous. So many animals we have loved and they wait for us…Love to see Ray’s “going cwazy” videos. They make me smile. Best wishes to Treve at Royal Ascot. Loving the Gund stuffed animals of Boo and Buddy! Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend. Hugs from me, kisses from The Pack. Kathy

Dear all–I hope I don’t get in trouble for posting, this, but I thought you would want to know. Our long-time Dumpling in Arizona, Diana Stuart (a.k.a.diastu in tempe) lost her brother suddenly this morning. Auntie Judy is the one who is getting messages from her, but I’m sure she would appreciate everyone’s loving thoughts and prayers. Hugs to all.
