We all appreciate very much what Dottie has created, bringing the voice of Zenyatta to her multitude of fans. We can also appreciate just how much work went into completing over a year’s worth of daily dairy entries, describing from November 1, 2010 the transition of a tremendous race horse to becoming a broodmare and, today, a successful one with a healthy colt by her side. For all of this we are grateful. Grateful, as always, for being blessed with owning this great mare since she was a yearling. Grateful for the treatment and training she received form John Shirreffs, Mike Smith and the great people at Barn 55. Grateful for all the terrific people at Lane’s End Farm, her current care-takers, doing what they do everyday for Zenyatta.
And certainly grateful to Dottie, our racing manager, who emerged to describe Zenyatta’s thoughts as if she could write them herself.
Well done Zenyatta!
And well done, Dottie!
With this website, we will do our best to continue to inform you of what’s happening in Zenyatta and her colt’s lives. Stories of interest will be published periodically with photos and news flashes as the events dictate. It probably won’t make up for the daily Diary that told her story so very well, but in the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy Zenyatta.com. We appreciate how much this community means to Zenyatta’s fans just as we appreciate how much all of you mean to her.
With gratitude,
Ann & Jerry Moss

Zenny as I read the diary post today my heart felt heavy and I can’t stop the tears. I do understand you need this short time you will have with your son to teach him and love him. Time goes by so fast. November 2010 when all of us dumplings started this daily journey with you till now has brought light in dark places for many. You my queen are more than just a horse you are the reason many found purpose for their day. Dottie you gave us a ride into Zenny’s heart and all of OUR hearts are forever grateful. Jerry and Ann thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing the greatest horse racing has ever seen with me. You owed Zenyattas fans nothing but out of the goodness of your hearts you let us all in to share the wonder of this special mare. We can never thank you enough and words fail. I can’t say goodbye to Z. My heart won’t let me, so for now I will say thank you for the ride. It truly has been a ride of a lifetime. I will miss my daily chat with you Zenyatta but you have things to tend to now and 12Zenyatta comes first……..you will forever be in my heart and I hope we hear from you again. Thank you again Jerry and Ann for your gift to all of us. Zenny your a great mom and your son will learn great things from you. I will be waiting to see him run. I just know he will make you proud….Hugs and peppermint kisses, Leslie in California

What a wonderful relief it is to see that there will still be updates about Zenyatta and her life at Lane’s End! I have loved reading the diary posts but certainly understand how very time consuming it is. Will miss hearing from the queen herself but very glad to still be able to see photos and hear how things are going. Many, many thanks to all involved with this great horse for sharing her with us. She has become so much a part of our lives and it’s so great to still be able to follow her second career. We love you all!

It seems like it’s just hit me that Zenyatta won’t see the track again. I’m sure most of you know what I mean, how excited we all would get when we knew she was going to race and win another race! Now, who do we really have?? Nobody. There’s not going to be another horse like Zenyatta, the last horse I loved as much was Ruffian. I’m glad to see that Zenyatta was given time to grow before racing, as Ruffian was running alot as a 2 year old…
Team Z, please keep us in the know about our Zenyatta. We truly, truly, LOVE her. We can’t get in to see her, esp. now, so this website was the closest we had.
Thank you to Dottie for doing what she did all this time to keep us informed. Perhaps we can get 2 or 3 times a week updates/photos, etc? It just feels like we are going to be cut off from Zenyatta and I think I can speak for all of us here, we need her!
Thank you,
T
It has also been very nice to meet some of you all on here! I’ve talked to many folks on here, but I don’t know how to find you all..

Missing the diary already!!! So glad I found this site. She is no Zenyatta but we do still have Havre de Grace!!! She just won in NO.
Kudos to Zenyatta Shop. They sent me the wrong colored tshirt but corrected the problem and I had a new shirt in the correct color in a week.

ZENNY,
Hope YOU and Your Prince are having a wonderful evening in the Blue Grass!
Loved reading some of YOUR Baby Shower news. ONLY YOU could bring Shower ‘Showers’ to celebrate Your Prince’s arrival!
We’ll look forward to reading all of the Shower news in the next few days. Internet here in the wilds is always a bit slow, but teaches us patience… Besides, it’s always more fun peaking around the corner and the suspense of waiting a ‘bit’! Reminds me of a certain CA Girl coming round from the back at the last moment… Zenny, Your races are always so exciting – on the racetrack or in life!
We’re having stormy strong winds and rain/snow here tonight ourselves in NM. Love seeing God’s wonders!
Love to all in Your Family, Z.
PS Kelly in Wisc, praying for your Son in the USMC. And for His Family, esp His ‘Mom’. So grateful for all of our Sons and Daughters, Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters who serve for our freedom here in our beloved country.

Dottie, you have done an incredible job putting Zenyatta’s thoughts into words for us all to share. You have a special feel for this incredible mare. I thank you so much for doing all you have done with Zenyatta’s daily post. You have such a busy career and life and yet you have taken the time to continue to share Z with all her fans. I have never heard of anyone doing anything like this before and we are all so grateful to you! Perhaps one day you will write a book about Z. No one else could do a better job.
Team Zenyatta, you are the best. You let us into Z’s life and now let us into her colt’s as well. Not many owners, trainers and staff deal with a horse’s fans as you have. Zenyatta is one in a million or more and so are all of you. Thank you, thank you, for doing all you have done to continue to share your magnificent horse with us. And yes, I think right now the most important thing for our beloved Z is to take some time off and love and enjoy her baby. God bless you all!

Bonjour Zenyatta,
I just watching you and your new baby.
Zenyatta, he is so cute just like you.
I am a bit disturbed that he will be taken from you when he turns 5 months. That is so
young to be taken from his mother, don’t you think, Zenyatta?
Lots of love to you and the new baby.

Thanks so much for the posting of all the photos of the Baby Z and Queen Z. I have been out of town for a week but I did find out when Z had her baby just not able to comment. I hate to see the diary go away because I loved reading it so much. Maybe once a week or even once a month would be great but I understand if that is not possible. Anyway I will keep in touch by checking the news section here and hope to see more beautiful pictures of Z and Baby Z. Love you always Z!

@Margaret (N) I am so late on this post, I am not sure you’ll see this. I will see if I can leave a message some how on the forum, once they approve me. I tried to locate you at the yearling sale but there were only so many women I wanted to stare at looking for your dumpling tag! hee There were many people. Wish I could have seen you..

To The Greatest Racehorse Owners In the World,
Zenyatta is a once-in-a-lifetime horse and Ann and Jerry Moss are once-in-a-lifetime owners. You didn’t have to share Zenyatta with us the way you did, I know she is something special, but most horse owners keep their horses sequestered from the public.
I first saw Zenyatta on TVG (her second race). I was mesmerized with how easy she won. I was at Santa Anita with my father the day Zenyatta won her first Apple Blossom. My father hands me $50 and says go bet 50 to win on Ginger Punch, she’s unbeatable. I said, “Dad, there’s this horse named Zenyatta, she’s undefeated and I think she’s the best filly in America!” He still wanted Ginger Punch. Don’t tell him, but I booked his bet. I was so sure Zenyatta would win.
I live 400 miles from Los Angeles. In 2008, the recession was taking it’s toll and I wasn’t visiting L.A (where I grew up) very often. So I decided to save and go to the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita. I couldn’t stop talking about Zenyatta. Not only was she the surest winner in the whole cup, it was my first chance to see her live. When she came on the track, I was so impressed by her physical appearance. She seemed like such a pro. I wonder if she knew how big this race was. She was 1-5 during most of the betting, but as the horses were approaching the gate, her odds climbed up to 1-2. I thought that was a juicy price. I reached into my pocket and took out $500 and put it to win on Zenyatta. This was a huge bet for me, but I felt it was a worthwhile investment. It was the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic on a Friday. On the far turn Zenyatta started making her customary wide sweeping move. I was screaming so loud for her, the other fans looked at me kind of funny. She swooped by and won with ease. Now I was an instant Zenyatta groupie. But at the time, Zenyatta wasn’t THAT well known. There weren’t people holding signs and wearing her colors. When she returned to the winners, the fans gave her a nice applause, after all she was 8 for 8, I believe.
The next day, Curlin ran in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. I was very happy to see him race live for the first time. Curlin made a move on the far turn but flattened out and finished out of the money. On the drive home, I kept telling my dad that Zenyatta deserved to be the horse of the year (2008). He agreed. He was catching Zenyatta fever too.
And there is no cure for Zenyatta fever.
To be continued . . .
Lady Slew
A big thank you to you Dottie for keeping the diary as long as you did! I will miss it, and I hope you might find time in your busy day to take it up again at some point in the future.

Happy Birthday, My Sweet Lady Zenyatta! What a magical ride this has been with you! To see you a Mom with a beautiful little Prince is just amazing! What a beautiful site to behold. I want to write to 12 Zenyatta and tell him what you have meant to me.
Little one when I think of your Mom, Zenyatta, I think of a life force with supernatural qualities. When I 1st saw her, my heart melted. I adore her intoxicating beauty that danced into my heart, her commanding perfectly proprotined presence. I admired & appreciated her athleticism of a Superhorse she evolved into. She is as beautiful inside with a heart of love that touches everyone as she outside. One day 12 Zenyatta, when you are old enough you will understand what your Mom accomplished when you start racing. Zenyatta, I understand you have to hang up your hoofs for writing because all your attention needs to be with 12 Zenyatta. Thanks so much for sharing your life and letting your Z Fan Family be part of your life. I love you Zenyatta so much and you will forever be dancing in my heart. My one heart’s desire is to one day see you in person standing in the Ky bluegrass enjoying the sunshine on your beauty.
I can never put into words adequately to thank Ann & Jerry Moss for opening up their hearts to share you with the world and for John training you to perfection and for Dottie being your voice to share with us, Mike riding with you on your wins and Mario who took such great care of you day & night while racing. The whole Z Team @ Backside 55 for the most wonderful memories and for Land’s End letting them continue.
I relieve those memmories of you as the greatest racehorse I’ve ever seen. The excitement is new everytime I see you win. Thank you for opening my eyes to see a blessing we all posses within ourselves. You are a gift from God that he blessed with so many qualities of racing and beyond. The Mosses knew how special you were from the beginning and we are so forunate for that.
Zenyatta, life is full circle, just as I have stated before, I believe God reached His hand done into the gold & other minerals and gently blew and you were formed and graced us with your presence and now another blessing in 12 Zenyatta. I pray your life is long and full of happiness. One last time I send my Hugs & Kisses to my Sweet Lady Zenyatta from Alabama. Love, Amanda Gilliland
