We all appreciate very much what Dottie has created, bringing the voice of Zenyatta to her multitude of fans. We can also appreciate just how much work went into completing over a year’s worth of daily dairy entries, describing from November 1, 2010 the transition of a tremendous race horse to becoming a broodmare and, today, a successful one with a healthy colt by her side. For all of this we are grateful. Grateful, as always, for being blessed with owning this great mare since she was a yearling. Grateful for the treatment and training she received form John Shirreffs, Mike Smith and the great people at Barn 55. Grateful for all the terrific people at Lane’s End Farm, her current care-takers, doing what they do everyday for Zenyatta.
And certainly grateful to Dottie, our racing manager, who emerged to describe Zenyatta’s thoughts as if she could write them herself.
Well done Zenyatta!
And well done, Dottie!
With this website, we will do our best to continue to inform you of what’s happening in Zenyatta and her colt’s lives. Stories of interest will be published periodically with photos and news flashes as the events dictate. It probably won’t make up for the daily Diary that told her story so very well, but in the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy Zenyatta.com. We appreciate how much this community means to Zenyatta’s fans just as we appreciate how much all of you mean to her.
With gratitude,
Ann & Jerry Moss

So sad to see the diary going away so quickly after the birth! I hope you might consider doing something weekly to help wean us all off the diary posts!!

I am very sad to see the daily diary go away for now. However, I can totally understand how much time and effort must have gone into it and so appreciate that we had it for as long as we did. Now that I know we will be able to keep up with what is happening with Zenyatta and her baby I feel better. Thank you Dottie for all of your wonderful diary posts. Thank you very much Jerry and Ann for sharing your beautiful and wonderful “Z” with us.
Amanda
I feel the same way however, I totally understand. Can you imagine, we all LOVE Zenyatta and now Little Z, how much harder it will be in 5 mths when they are separated after we have come to know him after 5 diary entries a week for the next 5 mths. I don’t know about y’all but I just think that would be too much to handle.
Marci
I think you are right on. I also can see with all the upcoming events why it is best for the updates we receive. All the best to Z and the Prince. The same too to Team Z. You all are a class act and are simply – the best.

Thank you so much for keeping us updated on Zenyatta and her baby. I loved the Diary updates so much and checked it everyday. It was tremendous work I know and very much appreciated.
Sitting here over the last few hours after reading the last Diary entry, I was very sad. It seemed as if Zenyatta had been “taken away” and I felt a huge loss. I have not felt this way about a horse since I watched the great Ruffian run when I was a child.
I believe that I speak for many in saying thank you for continuing with updates. It is understandable that they won’t be as frequent but will be enjoyed throughly. However, it is known that the owners, caretakers and managers owe the public nothing and again please know how very much the updates mean.
Thank you to all involved with Zenyatta for caring so much for her and the horse in general as well as for the fans who adore them also.

Saddened but also joyful in many ways! OK, life is changing, we can handle it!! Let’s all be Pollyanna and look at the “Good news”!! It’s an adjustment to things that we have no control over. However, I do think there will be a rainbow and a light at the end of a tunnel! In a way, this is kind of like what Zenyatta and her colt will go through when they have to separate! They will only be together through August, at the most, and then, Z’s life will get pretty boring (as it should be). They will have to adjust…there won’t be any going back. That little fella has a destiny to try to fulfill…it will be so exciting when he goes into training with John!!!! Our focus will shift to Eblouissante, Z’s half sister, and Baby Z. LE did post some info about Tasty and some photos, so let’s give them a chance to step up and I bet we will still get pix and such. Cheer up!! Life is good!
By the way, I bet David Ingordo will be interviewed in the next few months on what he thinks about Baby Z. He will talk about his conformation, things like that, and since his “home” base is at LE, he will be a good source for info. We will be ok!! Just that change is so hard!!! I’m already on Zenyatta withdrawal!!! LOL
Thank you so much, Ann and Jerry for checking in with us! The sun is shining again!! Yea-a-a-a!
Kristine
I have been reading the diary for over a year now and it was fun reading about it, it will be missed but I am happy new updates will be replacing it. Sad to see it go but at least there will still be regular news and pictures. It was a fun ride while it lasted though

I feel I am way too late on this diary. But I have enjoyed it so much and learned so much about thoroughbreds and horse racing and just horses in general! Thank you so much for all the information and friendship. Will watch for any future news about Zenyatta and her baby and all the exciting races in the future!

Would have been a superstar in any era. He came along in a time when America was desperate for inspiring heroes.
Heroes that looked like America. Heroes that are like Zenyatta and her team. Please keep us informed.

yay, Seabiscuit!! If it hadn’t been for the “Biscuit” and Laura’s lovely book, I never would have become a TB enthusiast and a Zenyatta fan!
Janie (in L.A.)
Me too, Sharon. It was reading the book “Seabiscuit” (after my friend told me she would be working on the movie and mentioned the book) that sparked my interest in horse racing and thoroughbreds. Plus, I’d grown up a stone’s throw from Hollywood Park, where Seabiscuit had raced and won many times. And then there was Zenyatta…

Thank you Ann and Jerry for sharing your loved one, now love ones, with us all. Zenyatta has to be THE most beautiful horse I’ve ever seen and now she has a handsome colt to follow in her footsteps. Congrats and thanks to everyone who helps out with all that is needed! Blessings!!

Hi – thank you so much for continuing to bring us stories, pictures, and all things Zenyatta. We all love Zenyatta so much and baby Z. Thank you for everything.
Linda Massey
Thank you so much for sharing as much as you have with the Zenyatta Nation. The video of Z and her colt just after he was born was so special and remarkable that you shared it with everyone. Please give us updates! The diary was so much fun. Will miss it.
Patti
Thanks, Dottie, for your countless hours of writing and posting in Zenyatta’s voice. Although I love the mare and am thrilled at her accomplishments, I did not read the diary every day. I just poked in and out. However, as a writer and editor I know just how demanding this must have been for you in addition to your usual duties.
You’ve done a great service to the racing community in general and to Zenyatta’s fans in particular. I know we all appreciate what you and the Mosses and the entire Zenyatta team have afforded her adoring fans around the world.
Congratulations, Dottie. Take a nice, long vacation! You’ve more than earned it!
Lynn Robers
Amen! Thanks Dottie! Your words will never be forgotten! Too Cute!
Melinda
I too am sorry to see the diary entries come to an end, but I understand the time and effort that goes with writing as I too write articles. Thank you Dottie and ALL of Team Zenyatta for allowing us to share in this time in such an active way. I look forward to the continued pictures, videos and other features as Zenny and her little prince continue their journey.

If I lived in Kentucky, I would gladly take over and help keep the good PR going. :)
Dottie, you’ve done an amazing job! Writing every day is hard without having other things to do!
Zenyatta, and the peek into her life, has been a good thing for the racing industry. I hope in some small way it can continue.
Her transition from racing to brood mare has also showed a side of OTTBs rarely witnessed (except for those of us who know them)–the social, calm, friendly and loving side.
Good luck and best wishes to you all1

Thank you so much for continuing to keep us updated on Zenyatta and her Little Prince!! We look forward to the continued updates. We will miss the Daily Diary Posts but if we can at least have a periodic update with pictures it will help us feel the continued connection to Zenyatta!! Thanks again…Love and Hugs to you ALL!!

Thank you Queen Z’s team and owners for allowing me to follow her life. I look forward to the next years watching her colt and Queen Z progress.

Dear Ann and Jerry,
Well-said! Thank you so much for your graciousness and generosity in sharing Zenyatta and her world with us. It has meant so much to so many of us! I know we all want what’s best for Zennie and her baby AND Dottie. You are right- Dottie has done so much for us. I really can’t imagine the time it has taken to maintain this diary. It takes ME time just to write a post, some days! I look forward to future updates and am grateful that there will be a forum for us. Thank you <3

Ditto Susan.

My sister and I never missed an update from Zs diary. We felt like crying today when we read the news. Thanks so much for sharing Z with us. We will keep up with Zenyatta.com. I’ll miss our girl, I feel like someone died.
Debbie and Jenny
We will miss the daily diary very much but look forward to any Z news. Thanks Team Z.

Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss. The letter is truly appreciated. I am happy we will continue to receive updates and photos of our beloved Zenyatta and her boy. And continue to keep up with our friends. :):)

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful mare with us. I remember the first time I saw Zenyatta on tv. I couldn’t believe it. She was the picture of perfection and it was love at first sight. And then the morning at churchill when I saw her work out. I was shaking knowing I was going to see her come by me. To me she was the bigger than any movie star or almost any human athlete. I’ve been a Jeff Gordon fan for 18 years and my mom said Zenyatta surpassed that love. I cried when I saw her again on the track for the BC. Cried when she lost and cried at the beauty and grace she shows us all. She is my secretariat!!! I’m going to miss the daily entries because those too made me cry. I hope we get more wonderful updates and I can not wait to watch this colt grow and compete!!! Can’t wait to hear his name!!! Love to you, and the whole Zenyatta team and most importantly love to that beautiful inspiring mare and her amazing colt!! God bless!!!
Anne from Paramount, CA
To TEAM Z ALL: thank you so very much!! You are all so gracious beyond words. Not only thanks for the memories, but happy trails to you until we meet again..
Rachel
Thank you very much to Dottie, Moss family and all involved. So happy that now and then you willl update us fans. Looking forward to seeing pictures of Baby Colt, Mom Z and reading anything you feel news worthy to us. God Bless you all for taking the time to share her. It warms hearts you have no idea.
Joan
Thank you for the reassurance that you will continue to keep us informed of news, such as your choice of name for Zenyatta’s beautiful son, and continuing events in Zenyatta’s life. I am sure I am hardly alone in wanting to thank you for your unbelievably generous kindness in giving us so much access to this beloved mare, both while she was racing and now in her new career as a mom. It is very hard to see the Diary end, but it was amazing this gift was ever offered to we fans. I can only thank Dottie for all her hard work and hope she knows how much this Diary meant to everyone who came here to read it. No owners have ever been so generous to the fans. Thank you so much to you, Mr. and Mrs. Moss, and to Zenyatta’s “voice,” Dottie. I am so grateful I have been here to read every entry. But I have to admit I will miss this connection to Zenyatta more than I can say. Thank you all.
Gloria
Once again, someone from Team Zenyatta has me all teary-eyed! All I can say is thank you to ALL of you for sharing with us the great Zenyatta. Great race horses have come and gone in my time, but I honestly don’t think another one will effect me the way Zenyatta and her team has. What class you all have. You deserve a horse like Zenyatta and she’s lucky to have you. Dottie has done a fantastic job with the diary entries and I so appreciate all of the time she spent working on it. I do hope they will continue to check in with photos and other stories regarding Zenyatta and junior. And, after reading these comments, it sounds like we will get that. THANK YOU so much for making us like part of your family….to all of Team Z, including Ann and Jerry, John and Dottie, Mikey too, and Big Mama Z herself. What a great few years it has been following her career and getting to meet you all at some point or another at the track. Best of luck with junior. You know all eyes will be on him when the time comes. We’ll also be waiting to see what else Zenyatta has coming her way. Like, her next date! Love to all of Team Zenyatta. You guys absolutely ROCK!
Marie Collins
No more diary! Oh no! I’m sure I can speak on behalf of Zenyatta’s countless fans (and now fans of her gorgeous baby boy) when I say that we have felt like we have been truly involved in her life for the past year. The diary was an absolutely brilliant idea! We will miss it very much! And we’ll all be “chompin’ at the bit” waiting for pictures and updates!

Goodbye, Dottie. Will miss you. Thanks for everything. You did an excellent job.
Susan Carothers (in TN)
Dear Dottie,
Thank you SO much for what you have done for us! I wish I could express it better, but nothing seems adequate. I wish you all the best (and John!). You have a gift! We were blessed that you shared it with us for so long. We will miss your warmth, humor and knowledge! Take care <3
Victoria
Thank you so much, Jerry and Ann. Once again, you remain classy, humanly elegant people at a time not only when the racing world needed you and Zenyatta to emerge but in a magical, powerful way, you have made it possible for so many in our country to feel uplifted by Z’s presence. She gave hope when so much else around was gloomy and difficult.

Whew! Am I glad to read this letter!! After reading earlier in the evening that the diary would end, I went from shock to high anxiety mode! I began to imagine that something was terribly wrong. I just had to check one more time before I went to bed, and I found this letter. I am very relieved that my imagination had just gone into overdrive and all is well. It’s just a change–one that I will have to get used to. I had to get used to not seeing Zenyatta race anymore, and now I will have to get used to not hearing about her everyday. Thank you for this post. In fact I thank Zenyatta and everyone associated with her for bringing me so much joy in my life. I’ll always love her and continue to be a fan!

I am sending a very special thank you to Jerry and Ann Moss for sharing the wonderful Zenyatta with the world. Zenyatta came along at a time in my life when I needed a distraction. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in February 2008. I felt like my world was crumbling in around me and thought I’d never have anything to smile about. Well I was wrong because no matter how bad I was feeling, on the days Zenyatta raced or even if there was just a story about her on the news, I felt energized. I couldn’t help but smile seeing this magnificent horse take command of her special place, the racetrack. I love the posts and the website but I miss seeing her race but when I need a boost I put on the first season of Jockey’s where there is an episode dedicated to Zenyatta and Mike Smith my favorite jockey. I hope one day her races will be out on DVD and her story told to the world. Zenyatta will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Denise
The diary was very special and the almost immediate release of the news to the fans on the site was really really cool. Dottie deserves high hoofs indeed. I am an advertising/ marketing director and this was superbly done. Kudos to the person responsible for the whole concept. It was brilliant!

Thank you Ann and Jerry for sharing Zenyatta with the world, Dottie, what an amazing woman you are to have taken each day of our Queens life and told her story, and to bring us the updates on her youngster!! These daily notes will be missed, but we will be thankful for any and all that you are able to do…
Again…an amazing Team Zenyatta!!!!
