Lane’s End Visit

Happy Monday!

We had a great time at Lane’s End. Zenyatta and 12Z were happy to see everyone, and there were plenty of carrots to go around.

12Z is now tall enough to put his head over the fence, and he weighs in at 560 lbs! He was in a playful mood and had lots of fun with both horse and human friends. Zenny showed off by splashing in the mud from Thursday night’s rain.

The Mosses also went to see one of their fillies at the farm. She is a little bit older than 12Z, and has recently been weaned. She is turned out with a happy and inquisitive group–some of her paddock mates had been weaned just two days before.

    Beautiful Z and Gorgeous Z12! I am employed at the Bar None Ranches outside Okotoks, Alberta. We also are in the midst of weaning, and the babies are so beautiful. Can hardly wait to hear what you name Z12!

    Thanks for sharing the new pix of Zenyatta and Baby Z! I guess I shouldn’t be calling him Baby Z any longer. He’s so big! Mom and son look terrific. It is nice seeing them so happy.

    Thanks so much to the Mosses, Team Z, Lane’s End for this lovely update! Thanks to Kyle for the great photos, too! Everybody looks so happy. I especially love the first photo of Zenny — it is absolutely gorgeous. 12Z is such a handsome colt and what a character. The weanling fillies are TOO cute! They are beautiful!

      There have been self-proclaimed experts on here that have criticized and told LE’s the “proper way” of weaning and how it’s cruel, etc etc. Even though LE has been doing their job, and doing it well, for many many years. Others sometimes mistakenly put their human emotions and connect them with Zenyatta feeling the same way, I.E. the breeding back “so soon” fiasco. While others just come on here to be malignant and stir-up trouble. Either way, no one puts too much stock into what they say; usually it’s just human emotion being applied to horses when, in reality, horses don’t share those same emotions that we do.

        Pati; You have a great answer which I do agree with!! Take care.
        I had something where I felt run down for a month this spring. Finally I went to the docter. After blood tests and chest x-ray his determination was that at the clinic they had seen similar complaints within the past month. Therefore, he said I had a type of new virus (no name yet). I was suppose to call him if I had not gotten better in another week or two. But, I began feeling physically stronger and did not feel like sleeping all the time fter another week. Are these some of your symptoms? Get well!!

        Thanks for the info about the comments towards LE!. I wasn’t sure if the negative comments were about Zenyatta or Tasty? I hope Z’s “bestie” Tasty is doing well and will one day take to motherhood.

    I love the photos and it is special of you – the owners to keep us informed and show us the lovely photos of Z and her baby. He is growing and looks like his mother in body and the knees and hocks. For people like me, that have been in the business, it is great to see owners who enjoy not only their horse, but the sport itself.

    Ann and Jerry thank you so much for continuning to allow Zenyatta’s fans access to her and in her life. She is so very lucky to have you and you her. The first picture of Zenyatta shows she
    is still the most regal of Queens. Still beautiful and gorgeous. Thank you so much to all, Team Zenyatta, Lane’s End and especially the Moss’. Love to all..
    Now about our boy, he is getting so big. What a beauty he is going to be. He has a difficult job ahead of him to be compared to his mother. Keep him safe and sound. I guess since you are there you will be monitoring how well the both of them do during the weaning process. It’s part of life seeing your children grow up and leave the nest, but oh so heart wrenching.

    Thanks to the Mosses and LE for these photos and the video of the fillies. If anyone had any doubts about Zenyatta in retirement these pictures tell the story of a mare who loves everything about her life. Her colt is lucky to be part of the Team Z family because he will always have the best of the best, as it should be. It’s amazing that, even after 2 years post racing, Zenny captures hearts and minds. I’ve said it many times but it bears repeating…I’ll never see another like her in my lifetime. I hope all her offspring have fleetness of foot, soundness of body and the same tremendous heart of their mother.

    It always puts a smile on my face when I see pics of Zenyatta and her son. What a handsome guy he is and Z looks fabulous. Thanks so much to the Moss’s and Lane’s End for being so generous to share with us. Zenyatta will always be ‘the’ horse of my lifetime.

    And what a lovely group of young ladies! Looks as though redheads prevail there! :)

      Dear Sue, we have been commemorating Kari’s first celestial birthday, August 12. She passed from this world to the next this February, just after Valentine’s Day. Gone but never to be forgotten, in our hearts forever.

      Saw this story earlier in the week. Absolutely horses feel emotion; love, sadness, anger, fear. This horse’s fear of fire was over ruled by her determination to protect her foal. Just incredible. Hugs, JB

      What a wonderful story and great mom…
      but I do not think anyone here ever said that horses do not have emotions …
      My perception is that it is being said that horses do not have “human” emotions..
      Anyone with an animal in their care……as I sit with a madly purring ball of fur on my lap….knows that animals care…
      I think its just in “how” they care that differences are perceived …
      ……
      this mare saved her baby…recently a dog in south America saved all of her litter from a burning house…posted on this site in past the story of the wild stallion who saved a young filly from a river..

      I just think each species is probably unique in their emotional process
      …
      does this make sense?

        Sign. Well said. We all know why weaning occurred today. Z has a standing appointment to Bad Ass Beer Tuesday. She cannot always rely on TT to babysit. You also never know what Tasty might be teaching those young ones. Maybe to go rogue? LOL.

    It makes my day when I see Ann with Zenyatta, of course Jerry too. Zenyatta looks so healthy, happy and oh so stunningly beautiful as she always will be. My heart fills with LOVE. Thanks Team for all those excellent pictures and short video of the pretty fillies!!! ColtZ is growing so handsomely.
    I am just so happy I got the time today to come here.
