Happy Friday!

Alys snapped these early morning pictures around Zenyatta’s paddock this week. As the weather warms up, we’re counting the days until summer is officially here. The horses at Lane’s End have been enjoying the balmy weather. Z Princess is growing up fast, and Ziconic will soon start his basic training and conditioning at Lane’s End.

    Dear Max.Treve is out for the whole summer it seems she “tweaked” some muscles in her back at Ascot.They hope to get her back fully fit in time for the defence of her Arc crown.Australia may meet her there!
    Henry Ponsonby has been so touched by all the messages of sympathy for Tiger Cliff,he was so grateful it was all over so quickly.They suspect a heart attack but won’t know for certain until the PM.Free the Moose.PU Dan and all sick horses love to Reilly and TT where are you???.Sheena.

      Arc heroine Treve faces a spell on the sidelines

      TREVE has been ruled out of all the midsummer middle-distance highlights by pulled muscles and is not expected to be seen on a racecourse until September.
      However, connections have no doubt at all that last year’s brilliant Arc winner has retained all of her ability , and she is expected to be fully fit when the time comes for her to bid to retain her crown at Longchamp in October.
      Harry Herbert, representing Al Shaqab Racing, has revealed that Treve is “a bit sore in her back” after last week’s third to The Fugue, her second defeat of the season.

      Sheena. Saw that in the English media. Hope that she recovers quickly. Do you think that O’Brien will send Australia to the St. Leger? He’s going to the Irish Derby?
      Read those comments about Tiger Cliff. Looks like he went quickly and without pain, very similar to Thomas Chippingdale. They both passed at the end of their races and in the same spot. Eerie. Also very sad.

    Dear Max.Very much doubt Australia will go for the St Leger Aidan has Leading Light for that race.It’s going to be very difficult to find another TC winner over here in the UK.Do you remember Encke who beat Camelot in 2012 he was trained by Al Zarooni(the steroid scandal) if only we’d known then!It promises rain for us this week and Ireland too ,Aidan said he wouldn’t run him on softish ground.Free the Moose.PU Dan and sick horses everywhere love to Reilly.Where are you Tasty???       Glad to hear that O’Brien is taking care with Australia.
      Still pondering Pique. He was very sick with colic, near death, and then made this marvellous recovery. I laughed at the reference by one of his owners in the article when he said that the horse caught the boat last night back to Ireland. Had mental picture of Pique with his suitcases and a ticket boarding the boat on his own to cross the Irish Sea. Gotta love these horses.
      I’m unhappy about this rumor about Tasty. Very upsetting to put it mildly. Agree with Barbara and Peggy.

        I have an old cartoon of Northern Dancer. He is wearing a fur lined coat standing on back legs and dancing with a friend. The back drop is a snowy mountain. So cute!

    The dreaded colic strikes again. Just heard we lost Chase the Rainbow – a lovely grey bloke on the weekend. Only 5, with 11 starts and 5 wins. Thought the choice of name was rather good – his sire was Dash for Cash (a grey) and his dam Illusional. He gave a lot of us much pleasure. Cheers, KathyR

    June 23 Cherokee Devotional

    Attitude is everything if the day is to go well. If we require others to have patience with us and give us u we to li s di, the Cherokee word for pity or sympathy, then our minds are going to be on whether or not we get it, instead of on living well. We forget that we project to others how we want to be treated. Arrogance invites resistance. Hang-dog attitudes invite other sour and sullen looks and behavior. Good-natured people are always welcome and give peace to our minds. Whatever we are about, it is to our advantage to know the world is reflecting back to us the mirror-image of pleasant manners-or the stern appearance of touch-me-not. It takes so little to relax and enjoy, so that others can do the same.

    I am old, it is true, but not old enough to fail to see things as they are.

    Dear Kathy.Sadly,our lovely weather is breaking-up this week just in time for the Glastonbury festival!At least the “bobble heads” have had a good start to their lives,they weren’t giving mum much peace last night!Joey has reached 300,000 “likes”

    That’s a shame the weather has worsened. Glad the bobbleheads are doing well. Glad Joey has so many “likes.” He’s a star! I did see the goats. Just love them. I had pet goats when I was a kid. They’re great fun. Glad Fubu is taking his meds. I, too, have voted him regularly. That would be great if he wins. Lots to pray for from Zoe’s page. Heartbreaking situations. Will check on Zeus McGoose. There’s a new pomeranian therapy dog. I think he was on Zoe’s page. Cute little guy! Marty is smart in choosing to not participate on Mondays! Have a good day and week.     Dear friends I live in Deep East Texas and this morning the humidity reminds me of the place in Brazil where they built that soccer stadium. I just cannot follow soccer. The players all look like little ants and the clock might say 30 minutes left to play and they go past that. Youth soccer is very entertaining to watch in person though. Worried about TT. Didn’t get to see the Queen arrive at Ascot at all this year. My internal clock is on the fritz and overslept every single day. Prayers for all. Keep our loved ones safe.

    Starlight Racing to help fund laminitis research

    Having recently lost graded stakes winner Intense Holiday to the effects of laminitis, Starlight Racing partners announced Monday it will donate large sums to two organizations for the purpose of funding research into that insidious disease.
    Starlight will offer a matching-funds donation of up to $100,000 to be divided between Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation (earmarked strictly for laminitis research) and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Foundation Laminitis Research Project. Both Grayson-Foundation and the AAEP Foundation are challenged with raising matching funds for their research projects.
    Intense Holiday, winner of the Grade II Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds this February, was euthanized on June 12 after laminitis set in in both forelimbs. The son of Harlan’s Holiday had undergone surgery to repair a condylar fracture to his right front that was suffered during workout in preparation for the Belmont Stakes.

    Sherman Reflects on Belmont, Discusses Options for Chrome

    California Chrome, who missed his Triple Crown bid when he finished in a dead heat for fourth in the Belmont Stakes, returned to the place where it all began when the California-bred was vanned to Harris Farms in Coulinga, Calif., early Wednesday morning.
    The plan is to give the enormously popular 3-year-old a 6- to 7-week layoff in a setting that is familiar and relaxing.
    “He’ll be fine,” said trainer Art Sherman. “He needs a bit of a break. Horses don’t run year-round the way they used to.”
    The move eliminates any chance that the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner might compete in the Pacific Classic Stakes on Aug. 24 at Del Mar. Under the best of circumstances, Sherman envisions a race at Los Alamitos, his training base, that would serve as a prep for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and probably a shot at the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

      TVG keeps showing a “promo” of Art Sherman saying that he will be at Los Al on July 3rd (opening day) and that he’ll be bring Chrome with him. Wonder if they are going to van him down for the day, or if this was made before the Belmont and he’s not really going? I think a lot of peeps will be very disappointed if that is the case.

      Sheena. Condolences to Willie and his yard on the passing of Moshin. He worked well with Champagne Fever. Saw that article about Pique. I am in total awe of Pique. I get tired just thinking of 2 miles, 5 furlongs. He’s dropping back to 2 miles. I get tired thinking of that distance too. Pique conquering colic and coming back to win the toughest race at Royal Ascot is miracle. We need more of this.
      Still waiting for Tasty. It’s a mystery.
